BFAT 2

Dumbledore is sitting in his office now very confused. At first when Harry appeared he thought he was raised by death eaters or perhaps Voldemort himself. He doesnt think this is the case however given he claims to not have any idea about magic and Olivander confirmed he never had a wand. He is very confused, unsure of what to make of this man. The details Hagrid related to him didn't make any sense either. After watching him this morning he saw things he didn't believe possible and yet Harry made them look easy. This is terrifying. He will have to do some real searching for answers and what to do.

Lucious is confused. This boy appears at the start of the tournament with some strange walking stick and threatens everyone. He was under the impression Harry was being raised by Dumbledore or perhaps Moody; this seems to be false however. Perhaps he and the other former death eaters can use this Harry to further their own gains, perhaps replace Voldemort with Harry and he would be under their thumb. He will have to consult those he trusts most and begin discussing these plans.

While all of these things are happening in the background without Harry's notice he continues to train and learn all about this magic they seem convinced he can do. Ever since that first day he makes sure to find Hermoine regularly since it seems she has no friends. He makes sure that he always has a place in the library for her as she spends most of her time there but also makes sure he always sits with her at meals.

Hermoine after 5 years at this magic school has finally found her first friend or at least she hopes so. When she first got to Hogwarts she vowed it would be different here, that she would open up more and try to have friends. This was all ruined by the young red haired bully. She had been trying to help him with his magic their first year and he decided to lash out at her and hurt her feelings really bad. This was the first time she almost died at school, see someone had let a troll in and she had been in the bathroom crying when the door was smashed in. The troll missed her by a hair luckily after the first couple of swings a teacher showed up. Fillius Flitwick master duelist and half goblin, he was able to subdue the troll and save her life. After she recovered from that she declared she would never let someone hurt her like that again and asked for a resorting.

Hermoine got her resorting and was moved to Ravenclaw. Everything was fine until last year when someone opened the chamber of secrets and she had been petrified. This was the second time she had almost died at school. When she woke up she passed her exams with flying colors. That summer however she talked to her parents about not going back. She told them that while she may have people she talks to she still doesn't have any friends and she has almost been killed twice. Her parents are truly wonderful people and by the end of the summer they convince her to return if only through the winter holidays and they can discuss it then. Since she passed her OWLS she doesn't have to worry about her wand being snapped or obliviated. She does make this vow to herself that she will never be defenseless like that again.

When she returned to school she talked Flitwick into giving her dueling lessons after explaining her reluctance to return. He begins teaching her for a couple of hours a week. Like most people when Harry appeared out of the air and threatened the staff she was intrigued by this man. That next morning she watched him do magic she had never seen and do it with ease but not just that the way he fought, it made her believe this man could teach her. She worked up her courage to talk to him and found him really nice and easy to talk to. Ever since that morning he has made an effort to be nice to her and to befriend her, something no one at school has ever tried to do. It makes her feel really good and for the first time in a while she smiles.

The first task is rapidly approaching when Draco finds out it is dragons. His father in an effort to get in good with Harry had told him. He naturally told Harry who was appreciative. He invites Draco to join himself and Hermoine in the library as she does her homework and he looks up dragons. Draco says yes knowing Hermoine is brilliant and this will give him a chance to actually talk to her, something he has wanted to do for a while but couldn't because of his father. When they get to the library introductions are made and they begin their homework while Harry looks at books on dragons.

After a few hours they leave the library and head down to the lake as Harry says he wants to tell them his plan for the dragon he has to face in two weeks. Once there he explains this power he has that allows him to speak to any animal in their language. They both give him confused looks not sure if they actually believe him. He has them conjure different animals and begins talking to them.

After a bit of this Draco asks "Why do you think this will work on a dragon?"

Harry smiles "Most animals don't want to fight and dragons are kings of the animals. They are highly intelligent and typically docile. If it doesn't work I can always kill it. I have enough weapons and experience using them to do it. Though if I don't have to I would prefer not to."

This is where he is found and brought to the weighing of the wands. He walks in and sees there is a reporter and a camera man there. He along with the other contestants are all in the room.

"A photograph. We need a picture of all the champions together." Rita skeeter demands

Barty Crouch nods "Yes we most certainly do. We have a strange group of champions this year that should be memorialized forever."

Harry shakes his head not wanting to be in any pictures but reluctantly allows them to be taken. After the picture it's the actual ceremony itself. Cedric goes first and his goes fine. Fluer goes next and while her core is a bit different nothing is found wrong with it. Viktor goes next and much like Cedrics it goes fine. Finally it is time for Harry. He walks up and puts on the table in front of Olivander. Who smiles and says "60inchs unknown metal no core certified as a focus by myself."

This gets everyone in an uproar, unknown metal? 60in? No Core? This will make headlines for sure. Barty tries to say it shouldn't be allowed as it isn't a wand; he is corrected by Olivander who points out that a wand is simply a magical focus and there are no rules governing what constitutes a wand except that it be certified as a focus by a wandmaker. This gets everyone in the room to quiet down.

Rita tries to get Harry into a room for a private interview but she is unsuccessful. "If you want an interview with me you'll have to give me the questions ahead of time and I will have to see the article before you run it." Harry channeling a bit of Ironwood in him says in no uncertain terms.

Rita would never agree to that and so she drops it and interviews the other champions instead.

That next morning the 3 of them (Harry Draco and Hermoine) are sitting together at the Ravenclaw table having breakfast when an owl drops off a newspaper. It is at this point the whole great hall erupts into shouting. Most can't believe what they are reading when it comes to the wands, some are indignant that anyone could have a wand like that.

After breakfast Draco has to go to class while Hermoine has a free period so she and Harry go for a walk wanting to get away from people pestering him. Once they are down by the lake she asks him what his plans are after the tournament.

"Honestly Hermoine I want to go home. I have friends and family there that need me and I miss them every day."

Hermoine nods "I can understand wanting to go home. I didn't want to return this year, school used to be something I enjoyed and excelled at but then I got here and while I never had any friends before coming here I at least had my parents. When I came here I made no friends and was constantly being made fun of and harassed, I can deal with that but I have almost died multiple times at this school and it is almost as though the staff don't care. This year has been better because now I have you but I don't know that I will come back next year. I am not even sure I am going to stay in the Wizarding World."

Harry frowns at this "I am sorry to hear that. No one should have to live without friends. If you want I believe I can take you with me when I go. Over there life isn't the easiest thing but at least you would have me and I know my family and friends would love having you around."

Hermoine nods "I don't know that I could leave my parents like that. Thank you for the offer though. Could you train me while you're here? I know I will never be as good as you are but I promised myself I would never be helpless again."

Harry smiles "Of course I would love to help you."

With that they settled into a new routine she would come out with him early in the morning and he would train her while doing his morning exercise. By the time the first task comes about a week later she is taking to it like a fish to water.

The day of the first task has arrived and the champions are summoned to the tent outside of the quidditch pitch. Once inside they are told the challenge is to get past a dragon and grab the golden egg and then make it out of the arena.

"If we can tame the dragon can we keep it and the eggs in its nest?" Harry asks.

This has everyone turn towards him like he grew a second head. "Tame a dragon? I know you claim to not be from here but taming a dragon is impossible. If you can do the impossible then I suppose the ministry has no issue with you keeping it and the eggs." Crouch replies

Harry nods his head before pulling out his dragon, a peruvian vipertooth. "I will hold you to that Mr. Crouch"

The other contestants pull their dragons out and the order is decided Harry will go first followed by Cedric, Viktor, and lastly Fluer. Harry walks to the arena calm as can be knowing he has 2 plans and that one of them will work. Once he enters the arena he finds the dragon on the other side of the arena stalking him with its eyes. He decides to just go for it and calls on his animal-speak semblance "most honorable dragon I beg you listen to me. I have been tasked with fighting you for these people's enjoyment. I did not enjoy being ripped away from my home as I am sure you did not your own."

Arcani turns her head at him "You speak my language? No mortal here speaks my language. I do enjoy a good fight but I am no ones trained dancing monkey. What do you wish to speak on"

"They have placed an egg that is not an egg in your nest and have tasked me with fighting you for it. They said if I tame you I can keep you. I am no fool though a magnificent creature such as yourself can not be tamed but I do not wish to kill you. I am from a place far from here and I have fought monsters with no soul who only wish to devour and kill. It is what I was trained to do since I decided I could not stand evil to stand. I propose you allow me to take the egg that is not an egg and free you from these fools control." Harry proposes

"I know of the egg you speak it is an abomination and should never have been with my eggs. I will see it destroyed. But then if it destroyed they will kill us both I suppose. They can not understand us of course, why do you not tell me of this place you are from and I will judge you. Be aware if I find you lacking I will kill you" Arcani replies

HArry nods and begins explaining where he is from and the world he has made home. He describes his family and his friends, the good and the evils of the world. He tells her of his hopes and ambitions. He tells her of Hermoine and how the young women needs both their help.

"I enjoyed your tale and do indeed find you worthy. I ask that when you return you take me and my eggs with you. We have been hunted here for far to long." Aracni gives in reply

Harry nods "It shall be done. I shall take that egg that is not an egg now." He walks over and takes the egg and walks out. The whole task took around an hour but no one could believe what they witnessed. Even Hermoine and Draco who knew he would be talking to the dragon didn't really believe he could convince it. The rest of the first task goes as the books describe. Yes, I am too lazy to write them up.
