Chapter 2: Home No More

UA, Principal's office

Inside the office of the one who could be a dog or a mouse or a bear, a bunch of Japan's top heroes are gathered along with military and police personnel, talking loudly among themselves, looks of urgency plastered across the faces of many. Finally, one speaks up. "OK, SHUT IT! Nezu, what the hell is going on with the power?" shouts a man, looking like he could fall asleep where he stands.

The small rodent like creature, assumed to be Nezu speaks up. "Strait to the point I see, very well. Twenty minutes ago, an energy surge blasted its way across the entire country, taking out all forms of power. Even the satellites in the upper atmosphere were effected by this blast." The crowd of heroes look shocked beyond belief.

"Do we have any idea what could cause such a powerful blast to occur exactly?" Says the number one hero All Might. "Could we have a new type of weapon on our hands!"

One of the military commanders starts. "Well, our first instinct was it was an EMP. But electromagnetic pulses don't have that kind of power. We contacted our American allies at NASA to see if they had any information on space activity in our area. They have ruled out meteor strikes or solar flares." This leaves more confused faces in the crowd of heroes.

"The Department of Energy says it's not a power plant malfunction." States one of the police officer present. "And there is no quirk on the planet with that type of power!"

"Well, sounds like we're really good at figuring out what it wasn't." States the tired man from before. "This could be a prelude to a larger attack!" Many gasp, mainly just for dramatic effect.

"I agree with Aizawa! We should deploy the Fifth and Sixth Regiment of the military!" Demands one of the military people present with a condescending tone.

"You can't do that!" Shout many of the heroes present. "With all due respect general Walters, I believe this needs a much more sophisticated mind. Someone who understands technology and the situation at hand." Recommended Nezu with a grin.

Walters contemplates for a second. "You want to send in a lab rat?" he says in utter disbelief. "Not just any lab rat. A lab rat with teeth!" Nezu replies. Many look scared at what he is suggesting, while others look confused. "You're not suggesting who I think you're suggesting. He's a psychological tire fire!" Walters begs for Nezu to reconsider.

"But he's also brilliant. Five PhDs, IQ off the charts. And his drone tech is revolutionary! He has a perfect operations record. Remember the coup in Pakistan?" Many look confused including the commanders and general. "Or the uprising in Azerbaijanistan?" "That's not even a real country!" Many people say in tandem.

"Exactly. And you can thank Robotnik for that." Everybody groans. "I can't believe you're bringing that nutcase into this!" Walters states in a dry tone. "Trust me, neither can I. But… we have no choice." Nezu says with a shake of his head, sipping his tea intensely.

On the far side of a huge forest, many soldiers are seen setting up a base of operations. Just then a huge mat black truck pulls up, a glowing red camera sitting on the front is seemingly scanning everyone present for danger. Suddenly, from the side of the massive machine A fold-out staircase opens and sets up, as a tall, intimidating man steps out of the truck, wearing heavy sunglasses and an all-black suit with red trims on the inside, and he makes his way over to the soldier in charge of the operation along with his assistant. The tall man approaches the soldier and takes his glasses off as the soldier warily puts a hand on his sidearm holster in case he needs it.

"Are you in charge here?" Asks the man in black. "Yes, I am—" The soldier tries to reply but is cut off. "Nope!" Shouts the man, a sense of superiority in his voice.

The soldier tries to speak again. "My—" But is cut off. "Wrong!" The man says commandingly. "Name—" "I'm in charge!" "Is Major—" "Me!" "Ben—" The intimidating man cuts him off once again, his voice almost at a whisper. "I'm in charge." The assistant of the man holds up a badge for all to see. "You've never seen anything like this before. It says I'm the top banana in a world full of hungry little monkeys. Allow me to clarify. In a sequentially ranked hierarchy based on a level of critical importance, the disparity between us is too vast to quantify. Agent Stone?" The man says walking towards the truck.

"Doctor Robotnik, the worlds greatest mind, thinks you're basic." Says the assistant now identified as agent Stone. The major looks at Robotnik with a glare. "Is he still looking at me funny?" Robotnik asks, almost like he has a sixth sense. "Tell him to stop or I'll pull up his search history!" "If you don't stop looking at the doctor, he'll take a closer look—" States Stone but is cut off. "I'm not deaf." Says the major.

"Oh, and tell him his men report to me now. Blah blah blah… blah blah blah… blah blah blah." Robotnik says casually. "Excuse me? Listen, pal, I don't know if you realize—" The major does not get to finish. "I'm sorry, Major. What was your name?" Robotnik asks, fake caring. "Benning—" "Nobody cares! Nobody cares." Robotnik shouts over the major. Heroes and soldiers in the background look on in shock. "Listen, Major Nobody-Cares. You know why nobody cares who you are? Because nobody cares about your feeble accomplishments. And nobody cares how proud your mommy is that you're now reading at a third-grade level! Have you finished Charlotte's Web yet? Spoiler alert: she dies in the end. And she leaves a big creepy egg sac."

A soldier is seen in the background throwing a book to the ground, looking sad at the story being ruined. Robotnik presses a few buttons on his arm and calls out an army of white, immaculate drones with red, beady cameras on the front from his truck. "Ah, my babies! Ooh! Look at what came out of my egg sack! You know what I love about machines?" Robotnik asks threateningly. "They do what they're told, they follow their programming! They don't need time off to get DRUUNK and put the boat in the water!" Robotnik points at the major. "Now, you do what you're told. Stand over there on the edge of your personal abyss… and watch my machines do your job."

Dr. Robotnik turns to Stone and begins to speak. "Can you feel it, Stone?" "I can feel it, Doctor." Stone replies. "It's evolution, Stone. It's evolution!" Robotnik announces as he presses buttons on his arm, sending the drones off into the woods.

Robotnik and Stone enter their truck as all the soldiers follow the drones into the woods. Inside the trailer of the truck, multiple advanced machines can be seen in the background, computers line the walls of the lab. A huge desk is seen with Robotnik sitting, typing away. "Agent Stone? Do you see anything useful in this image?" The screen shows a drone's perspective of a strange strand of blue hair, almost looking like a hedgehog quill. "Nothing at all, Doctor." Stone states obliviously. "Of course, you don't. Your eyes weren't expertly trained to spot tracks by the Native American Shadow Wolves." Robotnik presses a few buttons, and a hologram of the hair appears before there eyes. "That's extraordinary!" Stone says surprised. "No. What's extraordinary is I've determined the exact height, weight, and spinal curvature of this creature, and my computer can't find a single match for it anywhere. In Earth's animal kingdom! This blackout was not a terrorist attack, and that's no baby bigfoot." Robotnik lets out an evil laugh. "This guy is something else… entirely. Divert all search units to the sight of the hair! That's one small step for man. One giant leap for me."

The military and the drones are searching the area, turning over rocks and branches looking for clues. Izuku is seen watching from a distance, looking scared and confused. "Okay, okay. Everything is fine. You were thinking about your life, got a little upset, lightning shot out of your butt, and now the world is coming for you!" Izuku speeds back to his cave home, running around trying to grab as much stuff as possible. "All right, all right. Earth isn't safe anymore. Time for Plan B. But I gotta take my stuff. Okay, essential items only. Okay, toothbrush, toothpaste, hair gel, night-light. Funny hat. This half-eaten cantaloupe. Oh, my scented candle. My entire comic book collection. Beanbag chair. Can a beanbag chair fit in a backpack?" Izuku shakes his head. "No, no, no. Of course not. That's stupid. Okay, what else?" He looks over to the table in the corner, seeing the rings and emerald shining in the dim light. "The emerald! The rings and emerald, yes, of course!" He speeds over and grabs them, shoving them in his backpack. Izuku pulls out a ring and holds it in front of himself. "Here we go. Ring time. Random planet, here I come."

Suddenly a huge explosion is heard in the distance along with people shouting. The roof of the cave begins to cave in on top of Izuku. "Oh, no! They're right outside! I gotta go somewhere else." All of a sudden Izuku is hit with a rock right in the centre of his head. Reaching his hand up he sees blood dripping down his head.

"I gotta go, goodbye cave. It was nice to have a home while it lasted." Izuku takes off at high speed out the back entrance of the cave as the roof collapse where he once stood.

And that is chapter 2 of the Fic. The chapter is a lot more action packed than the last one, starting off the chain of events that will lead Izuku down the path to becoming a hero.
