Chapter 22: Trio Rise Again!
Eggman's Secret fortress, 1 hour earlier
We see Dr Eggman, but he looks very different. Where once was his left arm was now replaced with a robotic limb, the same can be said about his right leg. Currently, Eggman was trying to hack into G.U.N's data base. "That's an impossibility. If their robots were better, that'd make them smarter than me." Eggman states. "It does looks like they've made progress, Doctor." Decoe says. "If it is true, we will be in big trouble." Bocoe responds. "Then I'll find out. All I have to do is hack into their main computer, and I have instant access to all their robot designs. I'll log in." He says, as he logs into the G.U.N data base. "Great! We're in! How could they have come up with these designs so quickly?" He asks in shock. As Eggman keeps looking, he sees an interesting file, showing a man that looks like him.
"It can't be!" He says, staring at the screen in shock. "Unbelievable! This can only mean... This world is the world I was born in!" He says, still unable to believe what he just said. "This is Professor Gerald Robotnik, who was the greatest scientific genius of his time. He's my grandfather." Eggman says with a smirk. "Does that mean there is a connection between this world and the one we came from? But how could that be?" Decoe and Bocoe ask. "The two worlds are in parallel universes in share of exactly the same position in time and Space. Each is unaware of the other's existence. But thanks to Chaos Control, we travel between them. Let's see if there is any data about my grandfather that can clean up this mystery." Eggman replies.
A screen appears needing a password. "Let's try "Eggman"? Error? "Robotnik"? Argh! No way!" Eggman says, getting annoyed with the login. Eggman has a flashback of a picture of Gerald and his granddaughter, Maria. "Maria! Ah, yes! M-A-R-I-A. Come on..." Correct password, screen shows "Top secret" "You did it!" Decoe shouts.
Prison Island Lab
An alarm goes off in the G.U.N. base. "It's a hacker! He used an unknown password to get into one of our databases! It holds a top-secret file nobody has looked at for years, cut off his access!" The command demands.
"They detected us!" Eggman says, looking worried. "Download proceeding!" Decoe states. "Affirmative! Deleting the original file from host computer!" Bocoe says. "File deletion proceeding!"
"Shut down the entire system and hurry!" The commander screams. "I'll try!" A Technician shouts back.
Eggman growls and sweats. "Download complete in three seconds! Done!" Decoe says. "Original file deleted now!" Bocoe replies. "Whooh! Hacking sure is hard work. Now, let's look at that file. This is my grandfather's diary!" Eggman states, looking on in amazement. Eggman stops at the last passage that says the word "Shadow". "I've done it! My greatest design is now complete. The ultimate creature, Shadow! My enemies think they have defeated me, but Shadow will carry out my orders without question. Now it sleeps, but one day it will be reawakened! Shadow will bring total destruction!" The diary says. "I'll awake Shadow for you, grandfather!" Eggman states, getting all excited.
Prison Island Lab, 1 hour later
Sonic runs along the corridors of Prison Island, trying to find where Eggman maybe. "Seriously, where is that Egghead?!" Sonic states, getting more annoyed than he already was. Suddenly he hears Eggman speak, thinking quick, Sonic dives behind a crate, listening in on the conversation. "According to the records, the Shadow creature is sleeping in that machine." Sonic's eyes widen in shock upon hearing this. 'Shadow's here! Who else has been hiding stuff from me!' Izuku states angrily in his mind. Eggman moves over to a keypad. "Time to wake it up." He says pressing a few buttons. "First, I enter a fake user ID, then I enter the password. M-A-R-I-A. Now I'll give it some juice with this Chaos Emerald, and we're all set!" Sonic looks over to see the Green Chaos Emerald in Eggman's hand, realising how bad the situation was. After Eggman inserts the Chaos Emerald, the machine begins glowing. Steam hisses from the pipes, filling the room. A stasis tube opens, revealing a hedgehog boy-like figure similar to Sonic, but its quills are pointed upwards. "Huh?! You! It can't be...!" Eggman states in shock, not noticing Sonic sneaking up from behind. Suddenly, a voice rings out across the room, making everyone freeze. "Who dares interrupt my sleep." The figure announces. "What?! It's that hedgehog boy! How dare you deceive me, you speedy little slimeball! Wait… you're not Sonic." Eggman says, confused. "My name is Shadow. You've awakened me from a state of suspended animation, and I am very grateful. To show my gratitude, I am at your command." Shadow states, looking down upon Eggman. Suddenly, he notices Sonic in the background. Charging forward, Shadow proceeds to kick Sonic in the face, knocking him to the floor. "Who are you, imposter." Shadow asks, holding a Chaos Spear very close to Sonic's face. "Ok one, that sus! And two, how don't you recognise me?!" Izuku states, looking confused and upset. Eggman looks over to Shadow, seeing him pin Sonic. "That Sonic. He is an impostor posing as you. He is also going against all Gerald stood for!" Eggman states with a grin. Shadow, becoming enraged, launches Sonic across the room. "Shadow wait don't listen to him, I'm—" But Izuku is cut off by Shadow grabbing him around the neck. Suddenly, Shadow, using the Green Chaos Emerald, uses Chaos Control to teleport outside the prison, high in the air. "Goodbye, imposter!" Shadow says, as he throws Sonic into the ocean.
South Island Beach
Knuckles and Tails are walking along the beach having a chat, when all of a sudden they see Sonic lying on the beach, socked head to toe. "SONIC!" Tails shouts, running up to see a blooded and battered Izuku, out cold. "He is not responding, Sonic wake up!" Tails shouts once again, still getting no response from Sonic. Suddenly, Blaze comes running down on to the beach, seeing Izuku. "IZU!" She shouts running up, trying to wake him up also. Eventually, Sonic awakes. "Uggg. Salt water!" Was all he said, before standing up and limping back to his hut, and slamming the door. "What was that about?" Knuckles asked, everyone looking just as confused.
Sonic's Hut
As Sonic storms around his hut, he smashes anything and everything in sight. "AHHHHHH!" He screams, sending out a huge pulse of energy which disables all nearby electronics. "Izuku, open the door! Now!" Demands Longclaw from the other side, only for Izuku to rip the door of its hinges opening it. "What the hell is your problem?!" She demands, only to receive a glare from Sonic. "Say it, I told you so. I shouldn't have gone to find Shadow, and now he is free and wants to kill me, thanks to Eggman, who is not dead by the way! Lets just admit it, I don't deserve a family!" He shouts before launching out of the hut again. Everyone just stares in shock, none more than Longclaw. "S—Shadows out!" She says, looking very ill all of a sudden.
As Sonic runs, diary in hand, he realises something. "Maria! That's it!" Sonic says, taking off towards the Hyper Tornado.
Tail's workshop
As Tails, Knuckles and Blaze continue to look for Sonic, they hear the sound of the Tornado spinning up. "Oh hell no! He is not flying my baby!" Tails shouts, running towards the runway, only to see the Hyper Tornado already in flight. "Can we track it?" Blaze asks, getting a nod from Tails, as he races over to his laptop. "Ok, according to these readings, he is currently heading for… SPACE!" Tails shouts, looking like he is about to pass out. "He's what?!" Kyoka asks, worry obvious in her voice. "What could he possible want with space?" Knuckles asks, only for Longclaw to answer with a sad tone. "Maria." Was all she said, walking off.
Space Colony Ark, 4 hours later.
Currently, Shadow is standing on the observation deck of the Ark, looking out across the earth. "I'm doing this for you Maria." He says, not expecting a reply. "No, your doing this for Eggman, not Maria." Sonic states, walking into the room. Shadow turns to look at him in shock. "How, I dropped you in the ocean!" He demands, staring Sonic down. "You didn't let me finish before, telling you who I am." Sonic says, completely ignoring the stares. "Maria would have wanted you to protect earth Shadow, not destroy it." Sonic states, making Shadow angry. "Shut up, you have no right to say her name!" Shadow shouts, going in for a punch. "I have the right to say my own sisters name!" Izuku shouts, causing Shadow to come to a halt. "Izuku?!" Shadow asks in disbelief. Izuku just nods, only to have Shadow hug him. "Ok, this is not very like you according to this diary." Izuku says, showing Shadow the diary. His eyes open in shock. "How did you get that?" He asks. "Longclaw." Was all Izuku said, getting a nod of understanding from Shadow. "Read the last page of the diary Shadow, it explains a lot." Izuku says, going off to find Gerald's lab.
Gerald's Lab
Upon entering the lab, Izuku came upon a sight that, even though he was expecting, did not expect to be real. "Maria!" Izuku states, running up to the machine. Looking at the side panel, he sees a screen saying cure injection complete and a lever marked release! Pulling the lever as hard as possible, the pod starts to hiss and grown, until finally, it releases. "Wow!" Is all Izuku can say as he looks upon his seeing his sister. While both are the same age, Maria has always been the taller one out of the both of them, standing about an inch or 2 above Izuku. She has blond straight hair, with a blue and white dress on and light blue crystal eyes. What Izuku did not expect though, was for her to have the same type of hedgehog feature as himself! While her hair stayed the same, her hairs themselves were quills instead of hairs. She had 2 blond hedgehog ears on top of her head and a hedgehog tail at her back. Suddenly her eyes snapped open, as she let out a deep breath. Looking around, she came face to face with Izuku, looking him right in the eyes. "Izuku?" She says, catching Sonic off guard. Suddenly, he hears the voice of Eggman from down the corridor. "Shadow, where are you! You said you would meet me hear, so where are you?!" Eggman demands walking past the lab, not noticing Maria and Izuku. "We need to find Shadow and get out of here." Izuku says, taking her hand and dragging her along behind him. "Izuku, slow down! What's going on?" She questions, only to be surprised when both her and Izuku run straight into a gobsmacked Shadow. "How?!" He says, still staring. "Nice to see you to Shadow." Maria says with a giggle.
"SONIC?!" They hear from behind them, turning to see Eggman and an army of drones Izuku is very familiar with. "Oh great, these things are back!" He says, looking at the white, egg-shaped drones in annoyance. "So Eggman, going old school? Or just ran out of your toys!" Sonic quips, making Eggman annoyed. "We will see who is laughing after this!" He says, ordering the drones to attack the trio. "Maria, stay behind me and Shadow!" Sonic says, getting a nod from Maria. Izuku looks to Shadow and nods, Shadow doing the same, as they both launch off, smashing as may robots as they possibly can. Realizing they are getting outnumbered, Sonic comes up with an idea, grabbing the green Emerald from Shadow, Sonic grabs Shadow and Maria and shouts "CHAOS CONTROL!" as all three disappear in front of Eggman, who is having a temper tantrum.
South Island
Blaze and Tails had just finished fixing Sonic's hut up, as then Sonic and two other people appeared in front of the hut. Blaze just stared on in disbelief. "Where do you keep getting these emeralds? Also!" Blaze then proceeds to jump Izuku in a hug, pinning him to the floor. "Can you two do this in your room please, I'm to young to watch this!" Tails states, running off into the distance, as Kyoka and Izuku both blush. "Oh, my, Izuku has a girlfriend!" Maria says, dragging both Izuku and Kyoka into a hug. "Who is this?" Blaze asks, trying to escape the hug. "Kyoka, meet my twin sister, Maria. Oh and that Shadow!" Izuku says, Kyoka getting a wave from Maria and a nod from Shadow.
And that's it for chapter 22. I will admit, this one is a bit of a mess. However, I could not think of a better way to write this, so yeah. I mean, there's always a chance of a rewrite in the future, but for now, this will do. Anyway, CHAOS SWISSROLE!
