![]() Author has written 24 stories for Castle. Wife, mom, geek, nerd, gamer, fan, coffee addict. Always thought about writing, never did. So I'm doing it now. I have always prided myself on having an aberrant worldview. Easily amused, not so easily upset. I take life one day at a time. I am trying new experiences outside of my zone. You never really fail at something until you refuse to try. When I'm brave enough. =) (Brave, in this instance, can also mean stupid, intoxicated, or excited.) (Intoxicated, in this instance, most likely means delighted, enthusiastic or passionate in or about life, but at times, not often, it can mean inebriated. I do appreciate any feedback. Your comments let me know if I'm on the right track. Rest assured, I always finish my stories, and I always finish them so the story makes sense. I won't rush through it or post when I'm not feeling it just to get it done. I appreciate your patience and I'm grateful for your readership. @GeekerMom on Twitter - Follow me for story updates and occasional humor or news. https://twitter.com/GeekerMom Rating Warning - I'm a little freer on Twitter - it's my platform to let go. I'm not on there as often as I used to be either. I haven't the time nor inclination to expose myself to political rants and that's most of what I find there now. I'm also on Tumblr, but not very often and I'm more of a stalker/lurker there. If you're on this page, you wanted to find out a bit more about me. Well, here it is; I’m a grammar freak. (I’d actually give Castle a run for it.) That being said, I make mistakes and am always learning. English grammar is hard. I could go into a soapbox-like discourse about was versus were in the past subjunctive form of the age-old to be or not or the proper use of the word of after off as in off of the couch (American) off the couch (British & just about everywhere else). I could also debate the merits and detriments of the Oxford comma and give you a racy accounting of my love affair with semi-colons. My real love is, with the exception of my husband and children, words. Many hundreds of thousands English words and growing, I feel it's my duty, as a writer to incorporate more than the simple, "Whoa, that was awesome!" into my written exclamations and observations. More than one reviewer has posted that he or she has had to look something up. Great! Expansion of our everyday overused verbosity is a worthy goal. ;-) It's one that I fully embrace. "Review" is an often overused word on this site. A true review will cite good things, mention passages of the piece and also areas in need of improvement. It's an invaluable tool for self-improvement. I write because it's a hobby, and hopefully a profession, that brings me personal joy and while I value; love; get excited about your comments, don't feel pressure to review. If I'm browsing the new stories, I'll read the first chapter or a couple of paragraphs and if you've got me, I'll add you to my follows for reading later. I do the same thing on Goodreads or in a bookstore. Everything goes on a list. (Mostly because my memory is...wait, what was I saying?) Vitriolic and just plain mean reviews are NOT helpful. When you produce something creative, you put a piece of yourself out there on display. Are there ways to improve what you have created? Always, and I'm pretty sure I speak for most of the authors on this site when I say, bring it, but please bring it constructively. If you don’t like something, unless you can be civilized, shut up about it. Hmm, I think we need to heed this advice, “It costs nothing to say something kind. Even less to shut up altogether.” It’s from Nathan Fillion’s Twitter page. The actor has spoken out many times about the necessity of being kind. So be kind, read, and imagine, and smile. Play the games, love the people, laugh at the absurdities, and roll with it. |
