Chapter 7: Attack at the Arch
They pulled up at the arch and they all got out. Everyone did major stretching and Severus left them with his black card, which would automatically tell them the PIN when they touched it. Selene was in-charge of the card since she 'was the most responsible of the group.' Annabeth huffed that that. They paid for their tickets and Annabeth ran inside.
Selene wasn't a fool. If someone wanted them dead Annabeth would be the first one to die.
"I smell monsters," Grover told her.
"I don't smell anything," Percy said.
"I sense and smell them," Selene confirmed.
"It's just your imagination," Percy told them.
"We don't have an imagination," Selene and Grover said at the same time.
Percy gave them an eye roll and went off after Annabeth.
"I'm glad that you're here," Grover told her, which made her look at him. "I'm serious. You seem to understand the danger more than Annabeth and Percy does."
"Or is it because Artemis is your favorite goddess."
Grover went pink and said, "She and Pan got along well."
"Pan?"
"God of the wild," he said. "One day, Selene, I'm going to find Pan. And I'm going to be the first to do it."
She smiled at him and said, "I have no doubt that you will succeed."
"Thanks," he said.
They took the elevator up to the top of the arch. Since they were the only ones in the elevator Grover asked her about her life in England.
"Not much to talk about, mate," Selene said. "And Mate means friend. Anyway, the Dursley's hated everything about me. Well except for Dudley, he's my friend, and cousin. Severus told me that my father and stepmother didn't die in a car crash. They were killed by an insane nutter."
"Sorry to hear that," Grover said.
"It was good to know what they actually died from," Selene said, her eyes filling up with tears. "But I really wish that I could have known them."
"If we get down to the Underworld, and Hades is in a good mood, why don't you ask him to let you see them."
"I doubt Hades will ever be in a good mood."
"You never know," he said.
The doors opened and they arrived on what was called the Observation deck. Grover made it clear that he hated being this high up. Selene loved it, it was like being able to see a vast area without changing.
"I still smell monsters," Grover told her.
"I know, me too," Selene told him. "And I have a feeling that this is nothing but a trap."

Severus pulled out a mirror, which Albus had given him, and said, "Albus Dumbledore, Hogwarts." An image appeared in the mirror and he said, "Severus, glad that you're still with us."
"I found Selene Potter," Severus reported.
"Good, how is she fairing?" Albus asked him.
"Well," he answered. "She ran away from home, just like I did when I was almost her age."
"She has to go back to the Dursley's," he told Severus.
"Albus, I've discovered that Lily Potter wasn't her mother."
He stared at him and asked, "What do you mean?"
"James cheated on her," Severus told him. "Her mother is Artemis."
Albus knew a little about the demigod world, but didn't know about Camp Half-Blood.
"This changes things," Albus said. "Where are you at?"
"St. Louis," Severus answered. "Two demigods, and their friend, are on a quest to get something back. Selene and I went along to make sure they don't die."
"I have full faith in your ability to keep them alive," Albus told him. "But no one must ever find out about Selene's parentage. The wrong people could use that information and kill a lot more innocent people."
"I agree," Severus said. "Are you upset that Lily isn't Selene's mother?"
"Severus, I don't control what adults do in their personal lives. She still saved us from Tom Riddle and we are still in her debt. Just make sure that none of them die, Severus, and I look forward to your return home."
"I'll bring you back something funky from the States."
Albus smiled and Severus cut the connection.
A suddenly scream filled the air and Severus ran to the source of the sound. To his complete disbelief he found the arch on-fire. What the Hades are those cousins of his up to?

Selene watched Percy fall and she hoped that he landed in water. Annabeth and Grover were fighting Echidna and her demonic son. She tapped her pin and her long, golden, bow appeared. She pulled it back, an arrow appearing, and shot it at the Chimera. It hit its mark and he bellowed in pain.
"You nasty little girl," Echidna said. "You hurt my son."
"And I feel such a deep sense of sadness, not."
She continued to shoot her arrows and finally she defeated both the Chimera and Echidna. Annabeth and Grover made themselves scarce and Selene changed into a falcon and flew through the burning hole that 'Junior' had made. She flew around for what seemed like forever until she found Percy, with Severus, lying on the ground. She changed back and asked, "Is he alright?"
"The water healed him," Severus told her.
"The water smells," she stated.
"Like I had a choice where I landed."
"Let's find a place that he can shower," Selene told Severus. "We all need it after we had to face psycho mother and her son."
"Sounds like a good idea."
The next morning the little band of demigods, and one satyr, got back in Medusa's car and continued their drive West. Selene had another dream about the blood red stone and the high, cold, laugh. Knowing who was laughing didn't make the dream easier to suffer through. They finally pulled up at a diner and got out.
"Ask them if they have any cans," Grover asked them.
"Why don't you ask them yourself," Severus countered and they walked in.
They sat down at a booth and a woman came around to take their orders. Suddenly a big man sat down in their booth and said, "Cheeseburgers, all around," he told them.
"Sir."
"Got a problem with that order?" he asked her.
She shook her head and left.
"Hello, Ares," Severus said.
"Ah, the unclaimed bastard child," he said. "Glad you not mine."
"Don't talk to Severus like that," Selene snarled.
"Selene, be careful," Grover warned.
"Still haven't forgotten that you scared by punk princess," he told her. "If it was up to me, Artemis would have a dead daughter."
"Cry me a river and build me a boat," Selene said. "She got what was coming to her."
"Selene," Grover hissed.
"What the Hades do you want, Ares?" Severus asked him.
"A little favor and I might forget what your cocky little friend just said."
Selene snorted at that.
"And what might that be?" Annabeth asked.
"I have a shield that I left in a water park," he told her. "I want the three main quester to go and get it for me. Moonbeam and Tombstone boy can stay behind."
"And what do we get in return?"
"I don't kill your little moonbeam," he said. "Be glad that's my reward."
"If you even touch a hair on her head Artemis will kill your children with her bow," Severus warned him.
"I can have more."
"And then they will die in their cribs," Severus countered. "Artemis isn't a Goddess that you mess with."
"I'm not scared of nature girl."
"Yeah, keep telling yourself that," Severus countered.
Percy, Grover, and Annabeth left to get whatever Ares wanted and Selene and Severus both ate their food.
"Is Ares scared of mother?"
"Everyone is scared of your mother," Severus told her. "She has complete domain over hunting and she would kill all of Ares children. And Ares know that."
"Because of what Ares would do to me."
"Since he hasn't done it, then his children are safe, but don't think that your mother isn't watching him. I know Artemis very well, and she is watching what he's doing."
Selene nodded and returned to her meal.
When the three came back Selene saw that Annabeth looked shaken. It seems that Hephaestus knew where his wife and Ares was going to be at and thought he could get them on camera. He got Percy and Annabeth instead, which Selene didn't find funny.
"There's something seriously wrong with you," Severus told him.
He laughed.
"Best day of my life. Head to Nevada, if you want to continue your quest."
He threw something ad them and he climbed on his bike and zoomed away.
"What a big, fat, jerk," Selene said and she handed their food over. "Eat, before we continue."
"I can't believe that Ares did that. Never mind, I can," Percy said.
"Let's get into the car. We're heading for Nevada."
Grover picked up the item, which turned out to be a backpack, and they climbed in the car and drove away.

A/N: So, unknown to any of them, they have the Master Bolt. I know that I'm taking time before Selene goes to Hogwarts, but I wanted her to be a part of at least one quest before she heads to Hogwarts. On what Ares called Severus. He has been around Hades for so long that he knows what Hades children look like. So that's how he picked up that Severus is Hades son. Of course he won't say anything, because he's got a bigger problem on his hands.
His father finding out that he had the Master Bolt and never told him.
