chapter 1: Two propositions on the same day.

Reagan ridley Trekked up the stairs which lead to the top floor of cognito inc. Her destination was the CEO's Office… her dad's office.

A old headache pounded relentlessly everytime she thought of how her dad stole her promotion. Now he wanted to give her orders.

Reagan had considered quitting but the only thing that stopped her was the fate of her team. They weren't exactly the best at their job and She knew that even if they were that her father would still make their life hell just to hurt her.

Click click.

Reagan hated the dress which made all female employes wear black skirts and high heels in order to "improve morale" according to her father it was for the best… it was about time she acted like a lady.

She stopped in front of the office which had a gold plated nameplate with her fathers name written on it.

It should be mine, it should all be mine. Asshole. She thought to herself as she knocked on the door.

"come on in, sweetcheeks." the irritating chuckle of rand ridley though muffled was enough to make reagan see red.

She opened the door and looked to see rand sitting behind his desk and chuckling to himself as he looked at a computer screen.

"you wanted to see me boss." Reagan asked in a monotone of voice.

Rand lifted his feet unto the desk and looked at his daugther with she same shit eating grin he always had.

"reagan, it's great to see you… I thought you'd have hard feelings after my awesome takeover… so I have an offer for you."

Reagan rolled her eyes. "i'm not gonna let you wipe my memory and move back in."

Rand laughed out loud and made a display of mirth. Once he was done he wiped a tear from his eye. "in your one bedroom apartment. Sweetie I live in J.R.'s volcano lair mansion… those robe bastards gifted to me as sign in bonus."

reagan clenched her fist at her side. She wanted to leap over this counter and assualt her own father. Her nostrils flared at the arrogance of this poor excuse of a man.

"then what's your offer." she grunted a crazed look in her eyes.

Rand reached under his desk never losing his smile and removing a shot glass and a bottle of scotch. He poured himself a drink and took in straight.

"i'd like to offer you a chance… at happiness." he said removing his feet from the desk and rising.

"You mother- what did you say?" did reagan hear him correct? A chance at happiness, only one question came to mind.

"what's the catch?"

rand turned and snapped his fingers at his daugther while clicking his tongue. "that a girl, you know nothing comes for free. There is a catch but we'll get to that after you agree."

reagan crossed her arms, frowning at her father. "so what Is this chance at happiness you have for me?"

"do you remember orrin cartwight?"

orrin? How could she forget her first friend. The friend her father removed from her life by force. "yeah I remember him! No thanks to you!"

Rand took another swig from his scotch and smiled. "well todays your lucky day because I plan to reunite you with his son."

"His son? He had a wife? he had a kid?" Reagan couldn't believe this but if this was true. "you mean I get to see orrin again?"

"Not exactly… he's dead!" rand chuckled even harder as he took another drink from the bottle and slapped it down on the table.

The world went gray when Reagan received that news… dead, orrin… a single tear went down her eye. Now she would never get the chance to make things right between her and him… and it was all his fault.

"jelly bean, it's okay, I know he was your pal… how would you like a hug… ha!"

"you… you… monster!" Reagan charged her father and leapt over his desk grabbing him. She strangled him.

"A little help reagan?" he choked through.

"why would I help you!?" reagan exclaimed through her tears. She shook her father as he choked.

"Not you… her"

smash

Reagan was sent flying toward the big screen television. Her body hit the screen and cracks formed on it.

"Reagan, I'd like to re-introduce robot reagan." rand said picking himself up and placing his hand on the robot's shoulders.

The duplicate was dressed in a red dress with a black dress coat, she had her hair down unlike reagan whose only change to her uniform was the skirt and the heels. The robot had a cocky grin on her.

"what is she doing her?" Reagan coughed as the soreness in her side prevented her from getting up.

"I found her on the day you left her at the museum, decided she was too useful to be left for dead… isn't that right jellybean?"

"Yes daddy dearest." she cooed in a sweet tone.

Reagan picked herself up on shaky legs, the heels didn't help and she glared at the man raising her fist.

"Let me guess you made her affectionate to you in order to create the perfect daugther." reagan used air qoutes for the perfect daugther words.

"indeed I did, where as you had your little rebellion, robot reagan is the perfect docile daugther… now are you gonna try and attack me again or are you gonna let me finish my proposition." Rand sat back in his chair and weaved his hands together.

Reagan looked from her robot counterpart to her father then groaned. She took a seat and the duplicate followed her lead.

"good, now as I was saying. Orrin cartwright died at o-nine hundred last monday. His funeral was concluded today and he left his vast fortune to his only son who was kidnapped as a baby by his bitch of a mother." rand explained pressing a button on a small remote to show the video of orrins obituary.

Reagan felt her heart sink once again as she looked at orrin's adult picture… he was beautiful with toned muscular body and sandy blonde hair cut into a business style.

"how did he die?"

"he Jumped off the empire state building when his wife told him she murdered their son, which was obviously a lie." Rand clicked the button to show a mansion in beverly hills with an olive skinned woman with long blonde hair ranting on a phone.

"now what she is doing is disputing the will due to her son being immature."

"Great, he's an incel… and how is that supposed to make me happy." reagan slitted her eyes at this woman who dated orrin… he deserved better.

"Not quite an incel. His mom kept him in a basement and psychological abused him in order to make him codependent on her… pretty clever right."

"yes daddy, it is a very good idea." Robot reagan chimed in with a smile on her face.

"Ugh, gang me is she always going to be this cheery with you."

"Yep, now look, I happened to make the woman disappear and now the boy has all the money in his fathers accounts including jeff bezos' fortune which was left to his stockbroker who was unsurprisingly Orrin."

"wait! Orrin was a stock broker!?" Reagan was glad that orrin got such a high paying job but she hated that her father wouldn't tell her these things.

"uh duh, he was super rich and made friends with a lot of non-lizard person rich people of course he was a stock broker… a handsome one too." robot reagan chimed in a coy smile on her face.

"you know what? I beat you once and I'll do it again." Reagan jumped from her chair and raised her fist.

"come try it, jellybean." robot reagan did the same raising her fist.

Rand took a drink and smiled. "as much as I'd like to see your rematch, we've got bigger concerns… the wealthiest man on earth is gonna be a mentally scarred child in an eighteen year olds body."

"so why am I here?" reagan never took her eye off her robot counterpart hate feeling her mind.

"simple jelly bean, you're gonna marry the boy!" Rand dropped that bombshell.

"what!? Why would I marry him? How does that benefit you?"

"to answer your question that if you marry him then I can grant you power of attorney and you can live off his vast sums for the rest of your life… while also making the occassional donation to cognito inc."

"so that's all your after money?"

"Jelly bean, money makes the world go round. You're smart enough to know this. So will you do it."

"what if he doesn't want to marry me?"

"Not a problem. Because I had the boys in the forgery department make this." rand used the remote to change the screen image to a contract with the words marriage contract on the bottom are rand and orrin's signatures. "as far as the world knows it was agreed upon years ago."

"so that's the catch… I get to do a service to my first friend but I have to marry his son whose wealth you want?"

"exactly! So will you do it?" rand took one last swig of alchohol and gave a slight blench.

"and why do you think I'd want to marry an eighteen year old man child."

"Because if you don't then I'll be forced to use robot reagan and you know how she gets with men who catch her interest." rand nodded his head to the robot.

"oh daddy, please give me a chance to make you happy." robot reagan begged.

Rand chuckled. "so what's gonna be jellybean?"

"i'll do it." with no hestiation reagan agreed as she glared at her horrible father.

"excellent. I'll have a chopper come pick up the boy and bring him here… now I want you to put something presentable on? And the means you too robot reagan.

"Yes daddy!" the robot saluted rand and got up then sauntered out of his office.

Reagan watched her go with gritted teeth. "you mean she is still gonna be part of this. I thought me agreeing to marry the boy meant she wouldn't be around him."

"robot reagan is loyal… unlike you. Therefore it is my opnion that her loyalty be rewarded… thus she and you will be sharing the boy… understood."

Reagan glared at the man then bowed her head. "yes sir."

"good girl now get out and make sure you look nice for your husband… he he ha!" Rand laughed in the same malicious way he always did… like the devil himself.

Reagan stormed out of the office and then trotted down the stairs to her office in order to find something presentable.

She looked around a for the blue dress her mother bought her… it was gaudy but it was the best dress she had. The fact that she had to marry the son of her best friend felt off but if it meant she could keep him safe from her robot counterpart then so be it.

Speaking of which a familiar clicking filled her ear.

"what do you want?" Reagan asked not even looking at her robot counterpart.

"I come here with an offer." robot reagan said a smug smile on her face.

Reagan turned abruptly a stomped toward the girl pointing an accusatory figure toward her. "wasn't making bryan hate me enough… now you gotta kiss up to my dad."

"you did the bryan thing all by yourself… you suck at talking with people. Therefore I wish to offer you a way out."

"a way out?"

"all you have to do is leave owen to me… do that and I promise no harm will come to him or you."

"Are you threatening me?"

"Yes I am, no point in lying… I want owen all to myself… he's mine now… and I don't plan on sharing."

"you know what I'm gonna take owen away from you… no deal!" reagan stood nose to nose with her counterpart. "by the way… whose owen."

Robot reagan rolled her eyes and laughed. "the son of orrin of course… simpleton… good luck bitch… he's mine."

Robot reagan skipped out and flashed reagan a middle finger.

"Bitch." reagan said under her breath. After that exchange she began to think to herself. Why did robot reagan put all this effort into making some random kid hers? She already had their fathers approval? Could she have… no, impossible.

She's a robot, there is no way she could fall in love with someone. Especially someone she had never met.
