Disclaimer: I don't own Goosebumps; it is the sole property of Scholastic Books and its creator, RLStine. Original characters are of my own creation. This was made from all the shows I've ever seen that had to deal with Multiverse Theory, or String Theory; Sliderz, Doctor Who, Ben 10 Omniverse, and so on. Even Crisis on Two Earths of DC's Justice League played a role into it.
The Multiverse Theorem
The Multiverse was a hypothetical group of multiple universes. Together, these universes comprised everything that existed: the entirety of Space, Time, Matter, Energy, Information, and the Physical Laws and Constants that described them. The different Universes within the Multiverse were called 'Parallel Universes', 'Other Universes', 'Alternate Universes', or 'many worlds'.
In theory: What if you could find brand new worlds smack dab on Earth? Where anything or everything was possible" Same planet, different dimension.
Every different universe made by making a choice, variants of a different choice at the same event, the same, the opposite. Any variant of a choice created was the birth of a new dimensional universe.
In one dimension, you're rich.
In another, you're poor.
In one or another, you're the slave or the slave owner.
In another, you're never born.
In another, your mother marries another guy and you're either, blonde, black, Asian, copper, or alien.
Another world, the world was destroyed and mutated by nuclear war.
Another no fish was brave enough to crawl up on land and humans never evolved.
And so on, ad infinitum.
But what if someone discovered these universes were stacked upon one another and under? And what if this someone had variants discovering this as well? And, what if they discovered a means to travel from world to world to meet with them?
Well, naturally, they would make contact, forming a great peace. Sharing technology and knowledge, using the best of their universes to improve the others. And also discovering an empty dimension and building a grand technological utopia, what one would call 'Paradise'.
But what if in this meeting… not all versions were good? Some or few were bad. And to them, new dimensions were new worlds to conquer and control.
And in this, the peace between these realities erupted into an all out war. The Multiverse War.
Each variant and Universe fighting to preserve their universes or to save others, while the other side, the Conquerors, sought out the annihilation and conversion of the others. And if the other side wouldn't convert… they would be destroyed by those that Conquered.
This would almost be the end of everything and everyone that ever was and everything that ever existed.
But somehow… the war ended before Existence became nothingness.
Thus the ADV was born: the Agency of Dimensional Variants. An organization dedicated to preserving what would soon be known as the Main Universal Line or MUL, while small strands or pockets were considered outlaw Universes, and managed with Law Enforcers known as Clippers. Thus peace was once again maintained, and thus the Multiverse was now just and more nothing but a theory.
But what if somewhere, somehow, an event would take place to once again start the War? What would be the outcome of this change.
Time: Spring 2012
Location: Longbeach, California
Specific Location: Playground
Dimension: Earth Prime (?)
Kids around the ages of six were on a playground horsing around, having fun. Sliding down the playground slide course, others riding teeter tots, and others on swings. Though one kid was running from a group of kids picking on him, and made his way to the playground fort to where the slide, the tic-tac-toe blocks, and monkey bars were.
He was a six-year-old Latin-American boy with a healthy build, tan skin, dark brown hair that was short with bangs in the front, brown eyes, and was wearing a red hoodie with dark gray pants, and olive and white sneakers. This young man was Marcos Ramirez.
He immediately climbed the ladder bars to get away. But as he got half-way, he froze up and slightly freaked out as he just gulped, all while the bullies were chasing after to go get him for a second round. But the height at the bars, they made him froze up in terror. There was no way out on this.
"Don't be afraid," a cute girl voice spoke up, causing him to look up, as a hand was extended to him.
The one who had their hand out, was a six-year-old girl with shoulder length platinum blonde hair which hid her ears, light tan skin, mint green eyes, and freckles on her cheeks, with a healthy build, and wore a green shirt, cyan suspender jean, green and white sneakers, white socks, and wore a Peace pendant around her neck.
She gently took Marcos's hand and pulled him up, "I gotcha."
The bullies stopped as they saw who it was, and grumbled, walking off, as they muttered about the girl popping up. As they left, the girl and boy, who was pulled up onto the platform, stood face-to-face, as he blinked, while she smiled, "Don't worry, you don't have to be scared anymore. Um.." she arched an eyebrow, as she asked, "What's your name?"
The boy blushed, as Marcos stated, "Marcos. Marcos Ramirez."
The girl smiled, "Marcos, eh? Nice. I'm Jacqueline Lee Thompson. But everyone calls me either Jackie or Jackie Lee."
Marocs smiled, as he said, "Yeah, we're in the same grade. We have home room, but we never talk."
Jackie thought on it, and then blinked, "Oh wait, I know you. You're the quiet guy that's waving to me when school begins, lunch starts and ends, and when school's done for the day."
Marcos blushed and smiled nervously, as he looked away. Truth is, he had a huge crush on the girl, but didn't have the courage to even try to tell her how he felt. Though it was a bit odd that a six-year-old would have a crush so soon in life. He then said, "Yeah, I'm just quiet because I don't know what to say around you, is all, Jackie."
Jackie giggled, getting his attention as she said, "Well, it's a relief to hear you talk. Everyone says you're the Safe Boy who doesn't get in trouble."
"I just follow the rules. And I'm six," he stated. "In reality, I really do want a little danger and excitement."
"And you got it from those bullies chasing after you," Jackie asked.
"I do want that kind of excitement, but not looking for that," Marcos sighed, as he explained, "Actually, those guys were chasing after me because of this." He then held out his hand and to Jackie's astonishment, was a golden and teal seashell, "I found this near the beach one day and have been carrying it around most of the time. I wanted to give it to someone but those bullies found out and tried to make me give it to them. Hence why I was running."
Jackie was in awe at the shell's beauty, as she finally snapped out of the trance of seeing it, and asked, "Who did you want to give it to?"
Marcos seemed a bit shy on that, until finally, he blushed and answered, "Well, I wanted to give it to you."
Jackie blinked, as she blushed at that. But looked away, almost ashamed at something, as Marcos asked, "Well, if you don't like it, I…"
Jackie blinked, but still kept her gaze as she blushed, "Well, if you insist, then I could take it."
Marcos then gave her the shell as he gently took her hands, and placed it in them. He stood up and smiled as he was happy to have given her the shell. Jackie also smiled, very much so as she blushed, accepting such a gift from him. But then Marcos heard a beeping from his watch, and blinked and looked rather frantic.
Jackie stood up, as she asked, "What's wrong, Marcos?"
"I gotta get going back. Mom wants me back before 5," Marcos explained, as he went down the slide. Once he was down on ground level, he turned to Jackie and smiled, "See you tomorrow, Jackie?"
She smiled broadly, while cradling the shell in her hand, "Sure. I'll see you again, Marcos!"
Marcos smiled broadly as Jackie went into the playground treehouse part, and he was about to make his way to home. However, something stopped as a strange sound was made. It was close to a bowling ball rolling on metal, in a funnel, making a kind of eerie but alluring wave sound, as the area around him began to flicker with lightning and electricity going crazy.
Marcos blinked as he nearly freaked out, with the wind blowing, "What's going on?!"
Suddenly, a vertical oval shaped lighted door glowing light blue, with a swirling vortex in the center, opened up six feet away from him, as things seemed to slow down and almost to a halt. At that moment, several adult figures stepped out of it. They were all wearing black skintight suits with black armor pieces resembling SWAT Team cops or Military soldiers. They had on them strange packs with a protrusion design on one single shoulder, varying on who was wearing it, and one had a scanner you'd seen on Dragoncube's aliens or something, and also seemed to carry batons and guns on them. One of them, a female, was scanning the area via a forearm computer that was seen in the AfterMath Games Marcos played. It seemed rather sketchy, but to Marcos, seeing the world freeze around him, this was a welcomed site, as he rushed over.
"Hey, what's going on? Why is everyone…" Marcos only got to 2 feet to them, as they suddenly got into a defensive stance, whipping out their collapsible batons that extended into bat clubs charged with orange energy coils built in the center and protected by black bars to reinforce durability. Then Marcos gulped as he squeaked, "… frozen?"
At the moment, another portal opened up behind him, as another armored fellah walked out, this time without a helmet, as he revealed to be an adult, white silver platinum hair with a blue streak in it, kind blue eyes, and a growing mustache on his face, with a gold badge on his left sleeve armor and his chestplate. "Looks to be a standard sequence event," he stated.
Marcos blinked in confusion, "A what?"
The man looked to the kid and asked, "This him?"
A big brawler of a fellow officer looked to the female scanner, and nodded, "Yeah. This kid's the variant."
"And the branch? How's that going," the big wig asked.
"Slow and steady," the female stated. "It hasn't reached the red zone. We got here in time."
Marcos backed away a little, freaking out, "Variant? Branch? Red Zone? What are you all talking about?"
The three officers aimed their weapons at the kid as the female stated, "Marcos Ramirez of Universe Sector 2814, you are hereby, under the authority of the Agency of Dimensional Variants, under arrest for crimes against the Main Universal Line." They all locked and loaded, as the female stated, "You're coming with us to pay for your crimes, kids."
Marcos paled at this, as he didn't know he was walking into the main guy, while he was tearing up a panic, "W-wait! I don't know what crime I committed! I..!" But then was gently knocked out as the gentleman pulled out what appeared to be a hyped up screwdriver, emitting a green light that conked the kid out, as he almost fell over, but was scooped up by the gentleman.
The other agents smiled at this, as the gentleman frowned at them. Of which they stopped smiling as the other female officer with them, who was African American, shrugged, "What? It's just another variant, Mobius."
"It's a kid, Rinslayer," Mobius stated. "He doesn't know what he's done. Let's just bag and tag him." And proceeded to go through the portal with Marcos in his arms, but stopped as he looked to them, "You did set the Reset to wipe out the memories of those in the area, right?"
The big guy nodded, "Everyone within site of the area. Their memories will be completely wiped out when the beamwave hits them."
"Reset the timeline then," Mobius replied as he walked through the portal.
The three others did, while the last guy placed an orange soda can-shaped device that once planted in the ground, it began to change purple on the inside. Once the two portals closed up and the officers gone, it created a blastwave to wash over the area as the device dissolved into dust. But once it did and the blastwave gone, all time seemed to reset, and everything seemed to just continue on as if someone pressed Play off of a DVD player. It also seemed that everyone seemed not to notice things had changed at all, including a missing Marcos Ramirez.
All.
Except one.
Hiding in the treehouse structure was Jackie… who was looking shocked, and even more saddened, as she had lost a friend. And within her hands, she clutched the seashell that he had given her. She never said it, but she had noticed him when they first started school together. And the fact that today of all days that when they talked, this would happen. She clutched the seashell to her chest, and slid down until her knees were resting her forehead, and she cried, not knowing what had happened.
But one day, it would come back to help her find him. It was only a matter of time… and space… and dimension.
