The Demogorgon
A beast of unmatched strenght, ferocity, cunning and brutality.
A perfect killer, created by the horrors of the Upside Down.
This creature should've remained locked on its own nightmarish world, but a rift was suddenly opened.
The Demogorgon came across a new world filled with new preys to slaughter.
A world called...
Remnant.
It was late at night at Beacon Academy, the students were alredy fast asleep and the guards were keeping an eye on the perimeter of the school to make sure no one got close. With the start of the Vytal Festival and the arrival of so many new people, they needed all the safety they could place.
Suddenly, something growled from the woods, without letting itself seen by the guards.
"Hey, you hear that?" - one of them asked his partner.
"Must be an Ursa or something like that. Take it out quickly and return, the boss wants to do a check" -
"Got it" -
The guard readied his weapon and entered the woods, searching for the deep red eyes that every Grimm had. Kiling an Ursa shouldn't be hard, he had done so many times in the past, so this wouldn't take long... Right?
He then heard the growling much closer to him, turning around searching for the source of the sound but even when turning his flashlight on, finding anything was impossible, but he knew something was there, he was not alone.
In fear, he turned and tried to run, but in doing so he turned his back on the beast intending in killing him. Awful mistake.
A creature with human-like appearance, great claws for hands and with a flower-shaped mouth covering all of its face suddenly jumped from the shadows, attacking the guard and biting his neck with its needle-like teeths, causing a heavy bleeding from the wound.
"NO, GET AWAY FROM ME! PLEASE NO!" - the guard screamed as he tried to push the beast back to no avail. It effortlesly went trough his aura and killed him without a single chance of fightng back.
The others heard his cries and ran to the location of the sound, but when they arrived all the found was the mangled corpse of their coworker and no traces of the killer, save for a pair of big claws marked into the ground.
Next morning, the news of the dead officer took no time in reaching the ears of the students, who quickly started to make theories as to what had taken his life. It clearly was some sort of animal, the wounds on the body made it clear, but nothing they knew was capable of causing such harm in so little time as well as escaping without a single trace.
"I bet it was some sort of Grimm" - said Yang as she was eating a hot dog.
"What kind of Grimm could pull off an attack like that?" - Blake cuestioned her teammate.
"Maybe a group of Ursas did it, or a Death Stalker" -
"You really think something as big as a Death Stalker could've escaped undetected? Besides, the body's wounds are completly different from what those can do" - Weiss answered with a bit of anger on her voice.
"Hey calm down, I'm just trying to find out what did it as much as you" -
"I highly doubt it" -
"Calm down you two, there's no point in freaking out, the police will catch whatever did it as soon as they get reinforcment, there's nothing to worry about" - Ruby tried to calm down the members of her team.
Team RWBY walked in the middle of the crowd that came to visit for the Vytal Festival. Even with such a gruesome attack, they seemed to be in high spirits and ready to enjoy their time in Beacon, unknown to the danger that was lurking in the shadows...
From the shadows under the trees, the Demogorgon watched its prey. The creature wasn't stupid, attacking in the middle of the day would be a terrible idea, but being outside gave it the benefit of being able to spy locations where it could hide before launching an attack. Last night's hunt was an easy one, but it didn't had time to enjoy its dinner, and it was still hungry.
"Gentlemen, I believe we need to discuss what happened" - Ozpin said before drinking his cofee.
In front of him, there were Glynda, Qrow and Ironwood.
"Do we have any track for the beast?" - Ironwood asked.
"Nothing, save for those claws we have no leads as to what that thing even was" -
"With all due respect Ozpin, I think it would be a good idea to cancel the Festival until this thing is stopped. We don't know when will it attack again" - Glynda suggested.
"She's right Oz, we can't put this people in danger if there's something hidden in the forest" - Qrow backed her up.
"Nonsense, we don't need to shut down anything, I'll send my troops to scan the forest and search for that thing. They'll be ordered to capture it if possible, if not, kill it" - Ironwood proposed his own idea for dealing with this unseen threat.
"You realize you might be sending your men to be slaughtered right? You saw what that thing did to the officer" -
"My men are trained in dealing with threats more powerful than them. Time after time they have defended Atlas from whatever Grimms came to attack it, they'll be able to take that thing down" -
"James, try to be rational for even a second, we're facing with a monster that can break a person's Aura with 0 problem and can escape without leaving evidence, a simple military force won't suffice" -
"If it doesn't work, we'll call in the help of the Hunters, but for the safety of the people at the Festival and the students, we need to start searching for that thing immediatly" -
"Do you have any idea where it might be hiding? It could be in the forest, in the school or even in the city" -
"Enough" - Ozpin stood up from his chair - "For now, we're going to start taking measures to ensure the safety of everyone. Glynda, inform the students that they will no longer be allowed outside of school grounds past 10 pm, anyone found breaking this rule will face severe punishment, Ironwood, tell your soldiers to form a perimeter around the forests and keep anyone from entering, then you can send your scouts, Qrow, be my eyes in the sky, see if you can find anything" -
They now had a plan and without a single waiting moment, they all rushed to do what was requiered, leaving Ozpin alone to think.
"Could this... Be her doing?" -
"Attention, all Beacon Academy's students. Given the events that transpired last night and to keep you safe, the Academy will now establish a new rule: Until the creature that made the attack is captured, students will no longer be allowed outside of school grounds past 10 pm. Breaking this rule will bring severe consequences" -
This was Glynda's announcment as she called all of the students to Beacon's auditorium to inform them of the new rule. If the students at least were in the school, then the investigation would be easier.
"What is this? What are they worried about?" - Ruby said, as she couldn't believe it.
"I think it's pretty reasonable, giving what happened" - Pyrrah, followed by the rest of Team JNPR approached Team RWBY.
"Indeed. Keeping the students safe is Beacon's highest priority after all" - Ren followed his teammate's explanation.
"They know we could help them find this thing right? It's not like we're defensless or anything" - Yang said as she toyed with her weapon.
"Be real Yang, while we have experience it's better to leave this to the profesionals, we wouldn't want to end up hurt" - Blake countered her friend's argument.
"She's right. Best to stay safe in the school than risk our lifes outside" -
"But we're going to risk our lifes anyways in missions Weiss! We alredy did it if you don't remember, how hard can this be?" -
"Sis, calm down, don't do anything without thinking" - Ruby entered the conversation.
"Listen to her Yang, best if you don't do anything stupid" - Qrow arrived at the auditorium and interrupted the talk.
"Uncle Qrow?" -
"Trust me, whatever this thing is its best if you kids don't get close to it, even the teachers don't have any idea of what it can do" -
"Really? I thought that with Atlas' military it would've alredy been caught" -
"They're working on it, but first they need to make sure no one else goes into the forest, so they're setting a perimeter to keep civilians outside before they can set up a proper investigation" -
Do they have at least any type of theory as to what it might be?" - Jaune asked.
"Not for the moment at least, but don't worry, we're working as hard as we can to identify this..." -
"Qrow, something came up, it's urgent" - Glynda suddenly arrived, calling for him.
"What is it?" -
"Just come, you need to see this" -
"Fine. Sorry kids, I'll come back as soon as I can" -
Grabbing Qrow by the arm, Glynda dragged him all the way through the school and into the forest, where he saw a large number of Atlas soldiers all standing guard. Inside, he learned why.
Over a dozen Grimms, all of them brutally disfigurated and dismembered layed dead in the middle of the forest. The same claws that they saw at night with the officer were all over the trees surrounding the corpses.
Not only that, but they also found a strange sticky substance in one of the trees, alongside marks of teeth. Small yet sharp, like it was marking its territory.
"Just what the hell is this thing?" - Qrow asked himself.
Originally I planned for this to be a One Shot but better do it as some sort of mini story. The chapters will be longer than my usual so I'll also take more to upload.
Next part will come whenever I get new ideas for this.
