Chapter 7 Precious Flower
Tohru's POV
"Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Tohru. Happy birthday to you."
When I heard this, I opened my eyes, and saw Kyo.
This resulted in me jumping up in shock.
"Morning", he greeted. "Happy birthday."
"Thank you", I said.
"By the way", Kyo started. "You should go downstairs. A bunch of stuff was delivered to you."
…
'A bunch' was an understatement. The living room was filled with so much parcels that I could barely see the floor!
"What is all of this", I asked.
"It's everybody's birthday gifts to you", Kyo replied. "I told you. Everybody loves you."
…
For my birthday, Kyo and I decided to go on a picnic in the park.
After we had eaten, we laid down on our blanket and cloud watched.
"Look Kyo", I started as I pointed to a cloud. "That cloud kind of looks like a cat!"
"It does", Kyo asked as he tilted his head. "I guess."
"Now you try and find a shape in the clouds", I said.
"Isn't that kinda childish", Kyo asked.
"It's fun", I defended. "My mom and I used to do it all of the time!"
"You did", Kyo asked.
"Yeah", I replied. "We would go to the little grass area in our apartment complex and try to see what shapes the clouds make!"
Kyo's POV
I watched as Tohru talked about cloud watching with her mom.
I wasn't really listening though. Instead, I was just watching her.
She found joy in such simple things. It was one of the many things I loved about her.
Suddenly, I sat up, getting Tohru's attention.
"What's wrong", she asked as she sat up.
"Nothing's wrong", I reassured. "I just wanted to give you my birthday gift."
With that, I pulled out a long, rectangular jewellery box from my pocket.
"Open it", I commanded as I gave it to her.
She opened it, and smiled.
"Kyo", she started as she pulled it out of the box. "It's so pretty."
It was a thin, gold necklace chain with a simple flower shaped pendant.
"Help me put it on", Tohru commanded, which I did.
"You know why it's a flower", I asked, resulting in Tohru looking at me. "One time, when I was angry, I purposely stepped on a flower. It was me trying to crush any hope I had, but Master told me that hope would return to me no matter how many times I tried to crush it. I didn't get it back then, or at least, I didn't want to, but that all changed when I met you."
Tohru looked at me in shock, but I kept going.
"You give me hope Tohru. You are my precious flower."
After I said these words…Tohru began to cry, and smile.
She tackled me into a hug, and said these words. Words I used to only dream about someone saying to me.
"And you are what is most precious to me Kyo."
