Chapter 12 Election

Machi's POV

The time to announce who would be the new student council president had arrived. All of the students had been gathered in the auditorium.

"It is time to announce who has been elected as our next student council president", the principal started.

"It will be princess Machi", one of my fan club members yelled.

"That's right", another member yelled. "There is no way that anyone could beat our beloved princess!"

"Would you guys please be quiet", I commanded.

"Now now", the principal started. "Settle down please. Settle down."

After saying that, the principal cleared their throat.

"Now then", they started. "Our new student council president is…Machi Kuragi!"

Upon hearing this, I smiled with joy.

However, this smile was taken off my face…when I was tackled into a bone crushing hug by my fan club.

"Congratulations princess", one of the members said.

"I never had a doubt that you would win", another member said.

"Yes", another member said. "After all, nobody compares to our beloved princess!"

"Okay", I started. "That's Enough."

With that, I made my way out of the bone crushing group hug.

As I did, Naohito walked up to me.

"Congratulations", he said as he bowed down. "President."

"You're very welcome", I said as I bowed down too. "Vice President."

"Wait", Naohito said in shock. "Really?"

"Really", I replied. "You've proven that who have what it takes."

…

I was on my phone in the locker room.

"Hello Machi", the person on the other side of the call answered.

"Hello mother."

"Why are you calling me", my mother asked.

"Well", I started. "I wanted to let you know that I won the student council president election."

"Is that all", my mother asked.

"Yeah", I replied. "That's all."

"Goodbye then", my mother greeted.

Then, she hung up, leaving me saddened.

However, just as I was about to cry…I felt a hand on my shoulder.

I looked up…and saw a familiar face.

"Yuki", I said in shock. "What are you doing here?"

"Today was the day that the election results were announced", Yuki replied. "Haru told me you won. Why are you crying?"

I sighed sadly before giving my answer.

"I called my mother and told her that I had won", I revealed. "I hoped that she would be proud of me, but she didn't seem to care at all. Not even a little bit."

With that, the tears began to fall.

"Will nothing I do ever make her proud?"

After I said this, I put my face in my hands as I continued to cry.

Then…Yuki put his hands on my shoulders.

"Machi", he started. "Please listen to me."

With that, I looked up at Yuki.

"You should be proud of what you have accomplished Machi", Yuki stated. "If your mother can't, then it's her loss."

After hearing this, I wiped away my tears.

"Now come on", Yuki started as he sat up and held out his hand. "Kakeru and Komaki are here too, and we're going to take you out for dinner to celebrate your win."

Hearing this, I smiled before talking Yuki's hand.

He pulled me onto my feet, and together, we walked out of the school.
