Chapter 5 Always There for You
Raven's POV
"Raven. What. Is. Wrong?"
hearing this made me sigh in defeat.
Out of all people, I should've known that Damian would've figured out that something was bothering me.
"Raven", he started. "Please tell me what's going on. Something's clearly upsetting you, and I don't like seeing you upset."
"You…don't", I asked.
"Of course I don't", Damian replied.
Then…he put his hand on top of mine…which made my heart race.
"Now", he started. "I'm going to ask this again, and this time, I want you to give me an honest answer. What is bothering you?"
Knowing that there was no longer a point in trying to deny that something was bothering me, I took a deep breath before I began to tell him what was going on.
"It's just", I started. "I'm…I'm scared Damian."
"Scared", Damian asked. "About what?"
"I'm scared about the future", I revealed.
"Scared about the future", Damian asked. "Why?"
"Because things are going to change in the future", I stated.
"I'm not sure I follow", Damian revealed.
"Well", I started. "As time moves on, so do people. Like…like how members of the Teen Titans come and go."
"Okay", Damian said, still not fulling understanding what was upsetting me.
"Damian", I started. "What's going to happen to me after the Teen Titans?"
"After the Teen Titans", Damian asked.
"I can't be a member of the Teen Titans forever", I stated. "What's going to happen to me afterwards?"
Damian's POV
"I can't be a member of the Teen Titans forever. What's going to happen to me afterwards?"
After Raven said this, I finally understood what had been bothering her.
"I see", I started. "You're worried about your future after the Teen Titans. That's what's been upsetting you?"
"Yeah", Raven replied sadly.
I didn't like seeing her like this. I didn't like seeing Raven sad.
I knew that I had to do something, and then…I remembered something.
I grabbed my backpack, and took something out of it.
It was…a small gift bag.
I held it up to Raven, which took her by surprise.
"What's this", she asked.
"It's your birthday gift", I replied.
"You got me a birthday gift", Raven asked.
"Of course I did", I replied.
Then…Raven took the gift bag from me before talking out her gift.
"It's the latest book in the series I've been reading", she said before looking at me. "How did you know that I wanted this?"
"I noticed you staring at it last time we were at a bookstore", I revealed.
After I did, Raven smiled at her gift.
After she did, I took her hand with both of mine…taking her by surprise.
"Raven", I started. "I know that you're unsure about your future, but I want you to know that, no matter what…I'll always be there for you."
Saying this took Raven by surprise.
"You…you will", she asked.
"I will", I stated.
After I did, Raven looked at me in shock.
Then…she smiled.
"Thank you Damian."
