Authors Note: Hello all! I'm back with my third story. Just another random idea i had in my head that i wanted to talk about. This time its on sacrifice. Who sacrificing who? Well you're just going to have to read to find out. Hope you all enjoy!
"You will come to know that what appears today to be a sacrifice will prove instead to be the greatest investment that you will ever make." ~ Gordon B. Hinckley
Jennifer "JJ" Jareau, Derek Morgan, Emily Prentiss and David Rossi were funneling their way into work at the FBI in Quantico.
"Hey Spence." JJ said with a smile as she walked past Spencer Reid who is always at work early.
"Hey JJ." Reid replied with the same contagious smile as he saw her walk past. He was too busy staring at JJ walking into her office that he almost missed his mouth with his coffee almost causing him to spill it everywhere.
"Pretty boy is everything alright?" Morgan asked while getting situated as his desk across from Reid's, noticing his little hand-eye coordination issue.
Reid tried to cover up him being noticed staring at his crush. "Y- yeah everything's all good."
"Whatever you say kid." Morgan said and went back to his consults.
JJ however was watching Reid and Morgan's interaction and slightly blushed in the safety of her office. She secretly liked Reid, not like she was ever going to tell him that... right? She was just glad to have made a best friend out of him. The more they talk to each other throughout the day the more she starts liking him.
Unlike the other profilers she works with (besides Hotch because he's the unit chief and Rossi because he sorta created the whole BAU) she gets her own office because she isn't actually a profiler, rather a Media Liaison that handles the media attention while out on cases, Figuring out what case the team picks up and some other odd and ends.
30 minutes later after deciding which case the team could just consult over via email/phone call, one case catches her eye that she thinks is worthy of involving the rest of the team on. It involves an unsub who kills its victims in or near movie theaters in and around the D.C area. JJ heads out her office with the files in hand and as she gets about halfway between her team inside the bullpen and the round table room she turns towards them, noticing Reid come back from the kitchen area with a new cup of coffee in hand.
"We've got a case."
Everyone gets seated in the round table room and start discussing the case.
"The bodies of 2 unidentified men were found in different alleyways around D.C. One looks like he was killed yesterday the other a few weeks ago." JJ started the briefing.
Morgan looked at the information on the files JJ gave him. "According to the ME report, both men were in their 20s and were shot and stabbed."
JJ nodded. "After they were killed they were brought to an alleyway to be disposed of."
Reid looked up from the papers. "So we are looking at a common theme of disposal sights." Were the men sexual assaulted?"
JJ shook her head. "No, but they did both suffer blunt force trauma and severe antemortem abrasions to their wrists and ankles." She clicked a few more images up on the screen."
Rossi thought that over for a second. "That means they were most likely held somewhere before they were killed."
JJ nodded. "The man killed yesterday was wearing a uniform. He could have been a movie theater attendant or janitor."
"There are 130 movie theaters in Washington D.C. not to mention nearby drive in theatres. Which has been growing back in popularity." Reid supplied.
JJ smiled slightly and shook her head just a fraction at her best friend's knowledge. She was always fond of just how much information Reid could hold in that brain of his. "Well, the local PD has ruled out the major establishments. They're combing through the smaller ones now to see if they can come up with a match."
Prentiss zoomed in on the photo of the other man. "This other John Doe is pretty decomposed. Clothing looks ordinary. He was probably a person watching the movie. Is that a fanny pack he's wearing?"
"Yes and it was empty." JJ nodded, briefly thinking how tragic it was that he was wearing a fashion crime when he was killed.
"That means he was probably a tourist, tho." Morgan stated.
Reid raised an eyebrow. That may not help them. "Last year, DC documented over 21,927,222 visitors."
JJ knew where his thought went with that number, but tried to think positive. "No other place has better surveillance software."
Hotch agreed. "Garcia, contact DCPD and ask them to start going through movie theater surveillance footage from 3 weeks ago. Rossi and Morgan you go to the 2 disposal sights and see what you can get from them. The rest of us will head to the DCPD and set up a base of operations. Let's head out.
The group started to get up to grab their things. They didn't need their go bags since this was a local case. They enjoyed local cases because it meant that they were able to return to their homes and their personal beds at night instead of whatever hotel room Hotch managed to book.
Reid was happy that he got to start out this case with JJ. Anytime Hotch assigned him with JJ he was happy, he just liked being around his best friend. And also that he too has a little crush on her.
Garcia was quick to leave, having work she wanted to accomplish before the team arrived.
Today was going to be a long day.
Authors Note: Chapter one down. Not sure how long this story will be, only time will tell. Happy reading! currently writing chapter 2 should be up within a day or 2
