"So we know that this unsub is disorganized." Morgan said to Rossi
Morgan and Rossi arrived at the first, and older disposal sight. So far, both sites have stayed in the upper region of the D.C area, in and around Columbia Heights.
"Do you think that he is choosing to drop his victims off around Columbia Heights on purpose? Like he doesn't want to stray further from his comfort zone?" Morgan continued.
"No, I don't believe its the disposal sights that matter to our unsub, they are just a quick and easy way to drop a body with the low risk of getting caught. The only way these sites are connected is that they are both within a couple miles of a Movie Theatre." Rossi explained.
"Well judging by how the bodies were found the unsub was in a hurry of getting out of there, if he really didnt want them to be found he would have taken more time disguising the body in the trash." Morgan said while walking up and down the crime scene.
"Lets head to the second disposal site and see if they both have any similarities, as in how the bodies were disposed of and the sites themselves." Rossi finished and took a couple photos.
Morgan led the way back to their SUV and drove to the second disposal site 10 minutes from the first one. This site belonged to the latest victim. What Morgan and Rossi found out from the site didnt really surprise them. Same sloppy disposal of the body and same amount of distance the site was from a movie theatre.
"Lets head back to the precinct and see what the rest have uncovered." Rossi exclaimed and Morgan nodded.
"Detective West thank you for having us, Im Jennifer Jareau we were the ones who talked on the phone. I have with me SSA's Aaron Hotchner, Dr. Spencer Reid, and Emily Prentiss." JJ greeted the Detective at the DCPD precinct.
"Thanks for coming, What have you figured out sofar about this case?" The detective questioned.
Hotch tried to summarize. "We do know that both of the victims were male, We are not sure if that means our unsub's target are male victims though could just be a coincidence. The first victim, who was murdered a week ago, was identified as 25 year old Ben Taylor. The last and most recent victim was identified as 27 year old Allen Smith."
Just as Hotch was summarizing Morgan and Rossi walked into the meeting room after their visits to the dump sites. "These are SSA's Derek Morgan and David Rossi." JJ stated.
"Both of the victim's remains were found in 2 different alleyways not 5 miles from a movie theatre. The organization of the bodies were also both sloppy. Either the unsub didn't care how he disposed of the bodies, was in a rush, or dropped them off that way on purpose." Morgan explained to everyone.
A question came from the lead detective. "What do you make of that?"
Reid was the one who responded. "There are several possibilities. Maybe our unsub is responding to some sort of of compulsion. As odd as it may sound, based of what agent Morgan said about the sites being sloppy, it might represent a 'neatness' type of OCD to him. Or each victim could be perceived as some sort of trigger that enrages our unsub, causing him to kill them."
Rossi resumed the summary. "What we don't know is critical. We don't have a cause of death on either of the victims. What we need to find out is why movie theaters are important to this unsub, what happened to him inside of one that caused them to become his hunting ground."
"Ok well its getting late. Tomorrow i want Emily and David to head to the ME and see what you can find on both victims. Derek me and you will head to the most recent movie theatre where Allen Smith was murdered. Reid and JJ I want you both to head to each family of the victims and find out what you can on their lives, were they connected some how." Hotch told his team, then told them to head home to get some rest.
The next day the team regrouped at the precinct to refresh their minds on the case. an hour later everyone left to go do their designated task.
At the ME office, Emily and Rossi had little luck. As Dr. Miller had informed their colleagues, Both victims were shot only once, the entrance wound being on the upper back of the victims, parallel to their hearts. Based on the diameter of the entrance and exit wounds, the doctor figured the gun used to kill them was an m18 pistol. Something that Rossi noticed was that both victims has a resemblance to each other. Both had brown hair, both had blue eyes, both were in their late 20's upon death and both seemed to be approximatly the same height, a little under 6 feet. It wasnt as much as they hoped to get out of this visit but it was better than nothing.
At the last movie theatre Morgan and Hotch stood in front of the blood stain on the sidewalk just outside the movie theatre.
"So based off where this blood stain is and what type of venue we are at, there must have been pedestrians around when the killing took place." Morgan explained brisk walking in a circle thinking.
"And judging by how there are no witnesses, we have to assume his weapon was suppressed." Hotch countered.
"And since the unsub had possession of the victim to take him to the disposal site we can rule out a drive by shooting, as he wouldn't have enough time to shoot his target, get out of the car, drag the body into his car and drive off without causing some sort of panic." Morgan stated.
"What are you thinking Morgan?" Hotch questioned.
"I think-" Morgan began, rein-acting how he believed it all went down. "Is that the victim was alone, and was walking out of the theatre but didn't notice the unsub was walking behind him. then," Morgan said as he got behind Hotch as to show what he was talking about. "when he got close enough to his victim he pressed his gun to the victims back and shot him point blank. Causing him to bleed out right here. He then dragged him to his vehicle parked close by and drove to dispose of the body." Morgan finished.
"That sounds like the most accurate way that could have gone down. What we need to figure out now is what is our unsub's trigger, why did he decide to shoot his target here and why him and not the person next to him." Hotch finished then went back to the SUV to head back to the precinct.
Authors Note: Next chapter is going to be Reid and JJ talking to the two families about the victims Allen and Ben. I just want to get past this whole introduction of the case because i really cant wait to start writing about the ending i have planned so sorry if it starts to get a little rushed. Happy reading!
