Callie rushed into the hospital and found Aria standing at the admissions desk waiting for her. "Hey, are you okay?"

Aria shook her head. "Yang said it's bad. I'm sorry, I know you're not on call tonight, but..."

"I get it. I need to get in there." She put a hand on her sister's arm and gave it a small squeeze. "I've got her, okay? I'm going to do whatever I can."

"I know." Aria swallowed, her eyes watering. "She raised me, Callie. Mom and Dad were too busy with work and you were away at school, and Nanny Rosa was the only person who cared what I was doing. I can't...I'm not ready to..."

Callie pulled her sister in for a tight hug. She knew how much the older woman meant to her sister, and Callie was rattled too. Nanny Rosa had been part of their family since before she was born. She took a deep breath to calm her nerves and leaned back, looking into Aria's eyes. "Arizona is parking and she'll be in in a minute. I asked her to sit with you in the gallery during the surgery, is that okay?" At Aria's nod, she continued. "I need to get in there. We've got this."

"Please save her, Cit." Callie gave her sister one last hug and rushed off. Aria turned back to the desk and dropped her head into her hands. It had been an absolute rollercoaster of a day. First her evaluation, then a huge baffling fight with Cynthia, and then her research being interrupted when an intern had rushed up to her saying there was a woman in the E.R. who was only saying the word "Torres," and could she come with him. When they had gotten to her, Yang was already running tests and saying words like quadruple bypass and something about myocardial infarction. Rosa's sister was beside herself, trying to explain what had happened in rapid-fire Spanish. Aria had managed to translate for Yang, who nodded solemnly before rushing Rosa off for surgery. Everything was such a blur. She had barely gotten a chance to look at the woman's face before she was whisked away.

Arizona entered the hospital and saw Aria standing at the desk. Walking up to her, she put a hand on the other doctor's back. "Hey. Want to come with me to the gallery?"

Aria nodded and followed Arizona through the hospital.

"Is there anyone you want me to call? Cynthia?"

Shaking her head, Aria let out a small, humorless laugh. "No."

"I think she'd want to be here."

"I think you're wrong."

Arizona nodded. Now wasn't the time. "What about your parents?"

Aria shook her head again. "Callie can call them when the surgery is done."

Callie rushed into the OR with a mask held to her face, straightening the scrubs she had managed to find and throw on. "What do we have?"

Yang glanced over her shoulder from the procedure and rattled off the information. "Rosa Gutierrez. 72-year-old female, brought in by bus after collapsing. Her sister said she was complaining of chest and jaw pain before she paled and lost consciousness. Scans are over there." She gestured with her chin to the iPad sitting close by, which Callie picked up and turned on.

"Oh, shit."

"Widowmaker. We'll do our best, but…"

"We're saving her life."

Christina shook her head sadly. "Most people don't come back from this one."

"She will."

"Dr. Torres-"

"She will, Yang."

The two doctors stared at each other for a beat before Christina nodded.

"I'm going to scrub, then I'm taking the lead on this one."

"Yes, Dr. Torres."

Arizona sat next to Aria in the gallery as the surgery continued and noticed the younger doctor had something clutched in her hand. "What is that?"

Aria noticed Arizona looking towards her clenched fist. She opened it to reveal the object. "A rosary. I knew Callie kept one in her office, so I grabbed it. I don't know-I'm not much of a believer, but Callie is and Rosa definitely is, so I thought it couldn't hurt, right?"

Arizona nodded and smiled. "It's pretty."

"I think Dad got it from the Vatican. It doesn't get much holier than that." Aria ran her fingers over the beads and glanced at the other woman. "Are you religious?"

Arizona tilted her head, "I believe in science."

"Me too." Aria sighed and dropped her head. "Callie manages to believe in both, but I always struggled. I wish I had kept it up now. I don't know if anyone is there to answer my prayers."

Arizona shrugged as the two women watched Callie stride into the OR below them, confidently taking over from Yang. "I think prayers are always answered."

Aria wrapped the rosary around her hand. "I hope so." She looked over at Arizona. "You look pretty tonight."

"Thank you."

"Oh...you two were going out on your date tonight, weren't you?"

Arizona shook her head. "It's no problem. Family comes first."

"Shit. I'm sorry. She's not even on-call...I just didn't trust anyone else doing the surgery."

"It's really okay."

"She's really excited about your date, you know. She's been talking about it all week."

Arizona couldn't help but smile. "Really?"

"Yeah. She's smitten. It's kind of adorable." Aria stood up and walked towards the window to get a better view of the surgery happening below. She glanced back at Arizona. "It's really nice to see her excited about something again. It's been a while."

"For me too."

Aria nodded and sat back down next to Arizona, her leg bouncing. She couldn't help but wring her hands. "I don't want to be in here, but I can't be anywhere else, you know?"

Three hours into the surgery, Callie stepped back from the table to stretch her tight muscles. Rolling her neck to the side, she looked up into the gallery and sent what she hoped was a reassuring wink to Aria. Callie was surprised to see that Arizona was still sitting up there too. Callie had been keeping an eye on them from time to time, appreciating that it looked like Arizona was keeping Aria preoccupied and engaged. The surgery was going well overall, but it was difficult and a meticulous process.

Aria stepped up to the intercom and pressed the button. "How's it going?"

Callie nodded positively. "It's going well. There's a lot of blockages, so we're only about halfway done. But we got the main artery, which was the big scary part of the procedure."

"She's going to be okay?"

Callie shrugged. "It's too early to say for sure. Is her sister still here?"

"In the waiting room, I think."

"Would you go give her an update?"

Aria nodded and took a step away from the intercom before stepping back and pressing the button again. "Promise that you're not sending me out of the room because something bad is about to happen and you don't want me to see it?"

Callie's eyes crinkled as she smiled. "I promise that I'm sending you to give the update because I know Yang doesn't speak Spanish."

Christina turned to look up into the gallery. "I do not."

Aria nodded and walked out of the room, happy for the change of scenery. Callie looked over at Arizona. "I didn't expect you to stay this long. Is Aria okay?"

Stepping up to the intercom, Arizona replied, "She's having a tough time. I don't mind staying with her. I've gotten to hear some pretty interesting stories about you as a child, so that's been entertaining. And enlightening."

Callie chuckled and rolled her eyes. "Wonderful. I'm sorry again that we got interrupted tonight. I'll make it up to you."

"I'll hold you to that, Calliope." Arizona smiled and went to sit back down as Callie stepped back to the table, ready to continue saving this life.

Christina looked up and grimaced at her boss. "Seriously? You and Dr. Barbie?"

"Not a word, Yang."

Hours later, Aria and Arizona had moved down to the hospital's chapel after Callie had announced the surgery was completed and they were closing. Aria was laying in a pew, playing with the rosary in her hands while Arizona sat quietly in the row behind her.

Aria finally spoke up. "Thank you for staying tonight."

"Of course. Under different circumstances, I would say I had a really nice time getting to know you."

Glancing back at the other woman, Aria nodded. "Me too. You're pretty cool."

The chapel door opened and Callie walked in slowly, exhaustion clear in her features. "It's all done. She's up in the ICU."

Aria sat up quickly. "She's going to be okay?"

"We'll know more tomorrow when she wakes up, but it went well."

Launching herself from the pew, Aria wrapped her arms around Callie in a tight hug. "You're a rockstar, Callie Torres. A rockstar with a scalpel."

Callie smiled and squeezed her sister. "You can go sit with her."

Like a shot, Aria was out of the chapel and gone. Callie sat down next to Arizona and let out a deep sigh. She reached up and pulled off her scrub cap. "I can't believe you're still here."

Arizona shrugged. "I got stood up by my date tonight. I had nowhere else to be."

"I didn't...That's not what…"

Smiling, Arizona rubbed a soothing circle on Callie's back. "I know. I'm teasing you. You did incredible work in there, Calliope."

Callie shook her head. "That was the hardest surgery I've ever done. It was a massive heart attack; there were so many blockages. Plus it's my nanny, and I was trying to keep calm for Aria. I'm exhausted." She noticed the rosary lying forgotten on the pew in front of them and grabbed it. "Is this mine?"

"Aria took it from your office."

"Thanks again for staying with her. She wasn't too much of a terror, I hope?"

Arizona let out a small laugh. "Well, when Rosa's blood pressure dropped out and it was touch and go for a minute, she did grab my hand pretty hard."

Callie took Arizona's left hand in her own and massaged it gently. "I'm sorry."

"No need to apologize. I get it. I'd do the same if it was my mom on the table."

"Thanks for understanding that."

"Understanding what?"

"I know my family dynamics are a little strange. You've been privy to more of it than most at this point. Thanks for understanding that Rosa was like a mom to us, especially to her."

Arizona sat in silence for a moment, watching as the other woman held her hand, mesmerized by the soft, sure movements. "I'd really like to take you on a date sometime to learn more about you."

Callie smiled. "I'd like that too."

Turning her wrist, Arizona checked her watch. "Well, it's just past 1 a.m., so I don't think we're getting to that date tonight. How about I drive you home and we'll try again tomorrow?"

"I'm off tomorrow, technically. Until evaluations start again in the afternoon."

"Me too." Arizona smiled. "Could I interest you in breakfast? I know a great spot that's not far from your house."

"I like breakfast."

"Good. So do I."

Arizona pulled up in front of Callie's house just as Callie let out a big yawn.

Callie chucked and tried to cover her mouth. "Sorry."

"No need to apologize. I know it was a long night."

"You know, I'm surprised Cynthia didn't come by to be with Aria. I thought she was working late tonight, she must have heard what was going on."

Arizona looked chagrined and admitted, "I texted her and told her not to. The last thing Aria needed was to deal with that mess while she was freaking out about Rosa. I had to promise Cynthia multiple updates throughout the night to keep her away."

"The fight was that bad?"

"It's going to take some groveling for her to get back on Aria's good side, I think."

Callie grimaced. "I want to be mad at her for hurting my sister, and I am, but I can't imagine her doing whatever it was without a good reason."

"There was a reason, but I don't know if I'd say it was a good one. They'll figure it out."

Shrugging, Callie unbuckled her seatbelt and turned to face the other woman. "Aria's not going to be focused on anything but Rosa for a few days."

"What about you?"

"What about me?"

"Would you rather postpone our date…"

"No," Callie interrupted.

"I'd understand."

"No. Yang is under strict instructions to call me if anything changes and Aria, I'm sure, will be calling me too. I want to go on our date tomorrow. I need to go on our date tomorrow."

Arizona smiled and glanced down at the scrubs Callie still had on. "It's a shame that dress you were wearing is too fancy for breakfast. I'd really like to see you in that again."

Smirking, Callie sent the other woman a playful wink. "Play your cards right and you will, Robbins. Thanks for the ride home."

"No problem." The two women sat in the car, looking at each other. Arizona glanced down at Callie's lips and cleared her throat. "I know we didn't officially go on a date tonight…"

"Oh thank god, me too." Callie rushed forward and pressed her lips against Arizona's, tangling her hands in the blonde hair and deepening the kiss. Arizona smiled against Callie's mouth and pulled the other woman closer, kissing her again and again.

Arizona nipped at Callie's lower lip, causing her eyes to flash dark and she let out a soft moan. Arizona regretfully pulled back, knowing how easy it would be for her to get carried away and sure that Callie would follow her lead. "It's late."

Callie sat back against her seat with a sigh. "It's been a long time since I've made out in a car in front of my house. I feel like my parents are going to bust me."

Arizona laughed. "Not this time." She reached over and grabbed Callie's hand, just enjoying the feeling of connection. "How about I pick you up tomorrow at 11?"

Callie smiled. "I can't wait." She reached over and opened her car door. "Get home safe, Arizona."

"Until tomorrow, Calliope."

Callie made her way up to her front door and unlocked it. She turned to see that Arizona was still there, waiting to make sure she got inside safely. She smiled and waved at the other woman as she locked herself inside the house.

Callie's phone started ringing and she pulled it out of her bag to see her sister's name flash across the screen. "Hey. Is everything okay?"

"Yeah, I'm just checking in. Thanks for jumping in tonight."

"Anything for Rosa. Did you talk to her sister?"

Aria sighed. "I did. She went home for the night and will be back tomorrow for a bit."

"Did you know Rosa was in Seattle?"

"Yes and no. She mentioned last time I was home that her sister's birthday was coming up and she was debating a trip, but with all the craziness lately it totally slipped my mind. According to Maria, Rosa was planning to call us once she got settled so she could see us. But obviously, her heart had other plans."

Callie snorted. "Obviously."

"Speaking of hearts...sorry this screwed up your date."

"We're trying again tomorrow morning. Honestly, Cat, I can't believe she stayed the whole time tonight."

"I kept telling her she didn't have to. She wanted to be there for us. I think that's nice. I like her, Callie. She's made of good stuff."

Callie couldn't help the smile that spread across her face. "I think I like her too."

"Yang tried asking me about the two of you while she was checking Rosa's vitals. I just asked if she had seen Owen lately and she shut up really fast."

Chuckling, Callie rolled her eyes. "Are you staying there tonight?"

"Yeah. They brought me a cot."

"Okay. Get some sleep, kid. I'll be in again tomorrow afternoon."

"Alright." Callie could tell that the exhaustion of the evening was catching up with Aria as her voice got sleepy. "Have a good date tomorrow. Don't do anything I wouldn't do."

"Goodnight, Cat."

"'Night, Cit."
