Okay so suddenly, the month is about halfway done and I've barely scrapped around with a quarter of the prompt concepts going on. I gotta pick up the pace with this.
7th: Sci-Fi
Premise: Probably the one chance I get to involve Mars People from Metal Slug in a fitting way.
An emergency had erupted suddenly within the Ikari forces – the base was breached and the usual quartet of strong, reliable soldiers were the leading forces on the move to counter.
Ralf rushed ahead of the group to ask his partner – "What's the situation?"
Clark answered, "Chaos in the control room – the main epicenter of the breach. All I've heard from the commander is 'Signs of unknown life'..."
"Nothing about our forces?" Leona asked.
"No signs on human life of any sort involved in there," answered Whip. "All that matters there is who's the puke that I gotta punish for leaving an opening unchecked..."
"We'll figure that out after we deal with it," Clark said, as the four soldiers eventually met the end of the hall leading into the next room.
At the end of the road, with the opening—sorry, kicking in of the door leading into the control room, the military combatants came through the doorway primed to fight, only to slightly lower their guard once they realized they weren't immediately going to get a fight – and that what met on the other side didn't necessarily look like the most dangerous force in the world, or anywhere close.
Within the premises of the room, a gaggle of mysterious green, squid-like aliens were inexplicably swarming with curiosity. From the looks of the absolutely baffling ways in which they were fiddling around with anything, including what was bolted down, this was not a vindictive visitation – in fact, they all seemed more curious about what they were surrounded by, rather than anything negative.
The sounds of various hijinks and a whole lot of "Beep bop boh bip" from the green-bois ensued throughout the room as they casually swarmed around the room.
It didn't take long for the sight and sounds of it to already grate a little bit on the soldiers.
"Whip." Ralf leaned aside. "It's only been fifteen seconds and I already wanna punch one of these guys to the moon."
Whip shrugged. "Don't worry – I'll handle this..."
She reached from behind her person and pulled out her trusty gun, aiming cautiously...
...only to be stifled by a sudden blast from elsewhere in the room catching her hands, knocking the gun out of her hands before she could even get a finger on the trigger!
The four fighters were surprised to find that one of the aliens had pulled out a laser-gun that looked like it came straight from a mid-1900s sci-fi B-movie, and was suddenly engaged in self-defense mode.
"Don't worry, it's just one of them who's armed," Clark hoped.
Cue more of the Martian oddities pulling out their own guns – and a few already started firing off at random directions!
"That's not just 'one'!"
Whip ducked for cover first, with the main Ikari trio following suit as chaos erupted, as did the wild lasers creating holes and dark-spots in the room.
Thankfully, no casualties on the human side of things at the end of the 'control room struggle', but the person in charge of cleaning up had quite the mess to deal with – not just the slimy splattered corpses of the fallen aliens, but the wrong end of Voodoo's wrath once Whip had discovered that the cleaner was the one at fault for the door left unlocked.
8th: Medieval
Premise: Athena meets her *other* lesser-known ancestor – aka 'Probably the one chance I get to involve Altena from the King of Fantasy manga, in a fitting way'. Also, you might want to have even just the most basic knowledge of what goes down in that manga to get the allusion that is made here.
Today went from seeming like an average day for a fighting idol like Athena – until a few hours into the afternoon when there was a knock on the door to her current (though temporary) residence, from something she didn't expect around now – especially in this modern-day world regardless of its cults, clone-conspiracies and recently-resurrected individuals.
"Oh, my goodness~ They weren't kidding when they said she looked so much like me...!"
At the other side of the door, trying her best not to shrivel up nervously, was a cute young lady in a sort of fantastical 'female knight' garb – complete with a form-fitting breastplate and a skirt that was a bit too far on the 'short' side to do much in a battle...
Not only did the first-impression of her give off a resemblance to the innocent but somewhat tough nature of Athena, but in all noticeable ways right down to the pinkish-purple hair, she just looked like Athena outright!
Well, Athena if she dressed up like some non-descript medieval anime character for a halloween party.
The knightess continued, "I-I don't know whether I should consider you a descendant or just a version of myself from another universe, but my name is Altena Viktorias and I need your help."
"I lost myself through time and space and wound up here, in this world with a bright future; the only person I feel I can count on to help me get back to my world and prevent certain calamity is the one who is my equivalent in this evolved realm."
Hearing out as the spitting-image plead her case, Athena grew to quickly understand the type of predicament her fantasy-world equivalent was dealing with.
Unfortunately, the only available option for her was to let Altena down gently.
"I appreciate you trying to count on me – I really do, but..." Athena stammered, "I-I... can't do whatever it is you think I'd be able to do to help you."
"Why?"
"I'm still in training – the most I've been able to do with my powers is use it in combat. Projectiles, shields, teleportation, and even for a quick change of clothes. Not for bringing someone back to their own universe, or even saving that universe."
Altena's head slowly hung low. "...Oh. Perhaps I misjudged your capabilities?"
"You kinda did."
An awkward silence briefly passed by – Athena had time to blink at least thrice before breaking said silence.
"...I'm closing the door now."
Altena begged quietly, "Please don't."
The door closed anyway.
…
*Knock-knock – creeeak*
"Sorry if I disturbed you from anything, but do you happen to know anyone who—"
Altena stopped herself, having not taken a look at the person behind the next door over until she was partway into asking – and she was surprised to somehow recognize the person.
"Wait... aren't you...?"
Iori stared back, clearly not interested let alone amused with who had shown up at the door of his apartment.
"I'm not dealing with this fantasy crap again, Altena."
The door slammed shut.
