Living the Afterlife

Chapter 1 - Prologue

Author's Note: First off, I recommend you start reading this after you watch all of season 6 because this does have spoilers and takes place mainly after the finale but also during the final moments. So with that being said… yes, I was also emotional after finishing the last season of Lucifer on Netflix, and I absolutely loved the addition of Rory aka Lucifer and Chloe's daughter.

I've read a lot of Lucifer fanfiction over the past several years since I was introduced to the show back when it first arrived to Netflix, and this is my first attempt at writing a story taking place in the show's universe. I apologize in advance if at some points I do an OOC moment or don't make a scene as beautifully romantic/passionate as what we've seen or what I have read online. I'm a big fan, but not exactly a 'hardcore/Day 1' fan so just a fair warning about what might come in the future.

Disclaimer: Warner Bros. is the rightful owner of the Lucifer series while I simply own this story.

"Rory, trust me! You do not want to go down that road!"

Even though she could hear the voice of the man beside her, she still couldn't find herself able to release her grip on the neck of the other person currently lifted up by her own hand.

"You don't want to live like that! Do not give in to this monster!" She turned her eyes in his direction. "You have to be better than him… Please! You have to be better than me." Her fingers were hesitating to loosen their grip. "Please, be better then me! Rory…"

Just as she was about to make her choice, Aurora - or Rory, which she preferred most of the time - suddenly heard a loud THUD! beside her and found herself looking at an eldery-looking female. "The library will be closing in a few minutes, miss."

Blinking her eyes a couple times, Rory noticed that she was still inside of the local library instead of a warehouse-like area in the dream. Also, for some reason the 20-year-old was barely able to remember now exactly what had happened. Someone was telling me about being better…?

Before she could put more thought into it, her cellphone started vibrating and Rory looked at her screen to see that she was being called by her older sister. "Hey, Trix. How's it hanging."

"Hi, sis. I just wanted to check in on you cause, um... usually right now, you're home and already trying to beat me at Among Us-"

Rory interrupted Trixie with a chuckle, and she shook her head while leaving from the computer desk. "I don't have to try 'cause I pretty much beat you almost every single time. You can never figure out when I'm the killer 'til it's too late."

Her sister's response was one she tried to not find herself laughing at. "That's because you always try to get rid of me at the start of EVERY game we do."

"I don't know what you're referring to," replied Rory in a casual tone. She paused to re-scan her library card at the security desk, and made her way out the front door. "Alright, I'm like a couple miles or so away. See you in about an hour."

"Uh, I can actually go to pick you up -"

But Rory shook her head as she started to walk while preparing to put on her airpods. "Nah, the cool breeze feels really nice right now. I'll see you soon, sis."

The young woman hung up on the conversation with Trixie before her sister could finish her sentence, already knowing what she'd eventually want to talk about. A particular topic that Rory had pretty much chosen to ignore and very much dislike shortly after her 16th birthday celebration. Didn't even show up for at least a damn second… ugh, doesn't matter right now.

After sending a couple texts to her mom and to her sister, Rory scrolled on over to her phone's music playlist and glanced up at the nighttime Los Angeles sky as she tried to find the right song that fit her current mood. Okay, no… nuh-uh… heard that too many times… definitely not… huh, this actually sounds - oof!

"Well, hey there, sweetheart." Rory lifted her head up at the rather tall figure that had made her fall back a bit due to walking right up against him on accident. "Never seen a chick like you walk down this street before."

An unimpressed look appeared on Rory's face while she lowered the music volume a bit and simply walked around him. "Clearly they all found out beforehand that you're on this one."

Unfortunately, the response that she got a moment later was feeling him suddenly put his arms around her in a really tight bear hug. "Hey! What the hell - OHHH!"

"Looks like this one's got a bit of a fiery attitude." Another tall individual had suddenly appeared in front of them, and delivered a swift right hook to Rory's chest that left her now gasping for oxygen in her lungs. "She's gonna be fun to explore."

He then grabbed ahold of her legs so that they could now carry the dazed Rory into a nearby darkened alley, where a couple of other unknown guys were waiting with lustful but also dangerous looks.

"You… you all have no idea…" She tried to say as her consciousness adjusted itself, and felt her legs be released once they'd brought her inside of the darkness whilst her right earbud that still held a wireless airpod began to play a song she hadn't heard in several years.

This night ain't for the faint of heart

For the faint of heart, for the faint of heart.

Even though she couldn't completely see the group of guys around her, Rory was definitely able to sense how close they were, and her frustration started to grow more after feeling how close the first man's hand was starting to get from her stomach to her upper chest area.

This night ain't for the faint of heart

'Cause the faint of heart gonna fall apart

"Do not make me beat the living shit out of all you motherfu-" Rory hissed, but she was cut off by the tall man's voice now speaking directly into her ear.

"What exactly are you going to do about it?" A sinister smile appeared on his face while his other hand moved slowly down from Rory's waist to her lower area.

This night ain't for the holy man with the holy plan

For the promise land

This night we got the evil hand

And the evil hand gonna raise the dead

Suddenly, one of the other creeps began talking in a nervous tone after he could've sworn he had seen her right eye flash a bright red. "Hey! H-how the hell did she…"

CRACK!

"GAH!" The person holding Rory released his grip on her after she'd headbutted herself against him, thus causing his nose to break. "You little bitch, that was my- aaaaggghhh!"

Not wanting to hear any more from him, Rory delivered a strong kick to his own lower body area and she smirked as he collapsed to the ground whilst also whimpering in pain. "And you said I'm the bitch?"

Ain't no sleep when the wicked play

All we do is get laid, uuh-uh uuh uuh

She then felt a pair of hands from behind attempt to grab her shoulders, but Rory turned right around to do a double- hit combo against the person's throat and chest, followed by a leg sweep that caused him to also fall down. Then, the young adult used his body as a jumping pad to leap up and land on the shoulders of the guy who'd almost knocked the wind out of her earlier. "Hey."

Using her legs to create a crisscross lock around his neck, Rory laid back and swung him upside down in a backflip-like manner. While she landed safely on her feet, the tall man had flown into a nearby open dumpster and was joined by one of his fellow companions a moment later. Then, the open lid eventually came down and Rory let out a sigh of sarcasm before turning around to face her next opponent. "And then, there were-"

"Screw you guys, I'm getting the hell outta here!" The last remaining thug ran right past Rory, and tried to get as far away from her as he possibly could.

"Shit… Shit… Shit… shit!" He just kept running and running, praying that she wouldn't hurt him because he hadn't even technically done anything to her at all.

Ain't no love when the wicked run

All we do is try to lay off, lay off, lay off

We're the wicked ones, wicked ones

Then, once his legs were practically begging for him to stop, the man stopped running and leaned back against a nearby fence so that he could catch his breath… or so he thought. "Ulp!"

"Shhhh, shhhhh, go to sleep. Just go to sleep." Rory said in a hushed tone, applying a carotid restraint against his neck. The panicked individual tried to get away out of instinct, but the last thing he remembered before going out cold was seeing both of the young woman's eyes flash a terrifying blood red.

"Thank you for your cooperation." She took a moment to adjust her clothing so it didn't look like she had been through a fight, and continued on her way back home whilst listening still to the same song that started earlier.

We're the wicked ones, wicked ones
