BEEP-BEEP-BEEP-BEEP!
"Ugh, I knew I forgot to do something." Rory muttered to herself in irritation as she was woken up by her cellphone's alarm clock. Making a mental note to fix that problem later when she was more awake, the young woman then let out a sigh as she looked around her room, and smirked a little once she saw her reflection in a nearby mirror.
"Alright… let's get this day started." After saying those words, Rory scrolled through the selection of songs on her phone until she found one that she hadn't listened to in a while. "I think I left off here."
With the guitar and drums in the song now playing out loud, Rory got out of her bed and walked over to the closet to see what clothes she would wear today while the song eventually resumed playing vocals.
Sometimes I get the feelin'
She's watchin' over me
And other times I feel like I should go
"Eh, I tried that already. Nope. Nuh-uh." She said in a casual tone as the continued with her search. "Why did I even buy this - oh, now that is what I'm talking about."
Once her chosen clothes were all gathered up in her arms, Rory made her way over to the bathroom so that she could brush her teeth and shower, as well as fix her hair and everything else needed to no longer look like she'd been in bed all day.
And through it all, the rise and fall
The bodies in the streets
And when you're gone, we want you all to know
About eight to ten minutes later, Rory exited out in a more presentable look and nodded in approval after seeing her reflection again in the mirror.
Then, after getting her phone and putting on her airpods, Rory walked out of her bedroom and headed down the hallway to enter the dining-kitchen-bar combination room.
We'll carry on, we'll carry on
And though you're dead and gone, believe me
Your memory will carry on
"Haven't gotten around yet to trying this out," said Rory, taking out some waffles from the freezer and heading over to the toaster. Once they were inside, she went back to the fridge to take out the syrup and butter, followed by one of the kitchen cabinets for a plate and the necessary silverware.
We'll carry on
And in my heart, I can't contain it
The anthem won't explain it
After the set of now-cooked waffles popped out of the toaster, Rory did the usual preparations one does when having waffles for breakfast. However, just before using the syrup on the cut-and-buttered meal, the twenty something angel suddenly snapped her fingers. "Almost forgot the final touch."
Do or die, you'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Go and try, you'll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part (we'll carry on!)
Walking over to the liquor cabinet, Rory's eyes quickly searched through the presented selection of various whiskey bottles. "I think I will go with… oooh, Fireball Cinnamon!"
Then, she took it over the dining room table where her breakfast plate and cup of orange juice awaited, and after pouring some of the sticky syrup substance on the waffles, Rory added a little bit of the Canadian whisky as a finishing touch. "Breakfast now served."
Do or die, you'll never make me
Because the world will never take my heart
Go and try, you'll never break me
We want it all, we wanna play this part (we'll carry on!)
When the song finished playing, Rory turned off her phone's music for the time being, and continued with enjoying the waffle meal that had a rather sweet kick to it regarding the added whisky.
"Oh! I didn't expect to see you up this early in the day." Quietly munching on her food now, Rory watched as her mother entered the room with a small smile and surprised but also amused expression. "Figured you would be sleeping in."
"Got a whole bunch o' days to do that, Mom," muttered Rory in response to the former homicide detective known as Chloe Decker. She then noticed her starting to attempt getting one of the cut waffle pieces, and decided to avoid mentioning the cinnamon-ish condiment it had. "What are you n' Dad up..."
"Gah!" Once the whiskey kick entered Chloe's throat, she quickly grabbed her nephilim daughter's cup of OJ and Rory tried to avoid laughing while watching her gulp down some of the orange drink.
"You couldn't have told me beforehand that you had whiskey in there?" Chloe exclaimed, after setting down the cup and noticing the Jack Daniels bottle next to the syrup one. "Why'd you even put it in the first place?"
Rory just shrugged her shoulders, and resumed eating breakfast while Chloe went ahead with pouring herself some orange juice. Just as she was about to say something to Rory, a familiar voice spoke in a rather positive tone. "Ah, well good morning, Rory! I see you're not doing what most of the human adults in their twenties do nowadays." His daughter gave a small nod in response.
"Lucifer…" Chloe started to say when he also reached over to try out some of their offspring's meal experiment, and her worry changed to unamusement when the Devil casually licked his lips a bit before using a napkin on his mouth. "Mmmm. Always wondered what waffles with whiskey would taste like. I did try to convince your younger sister once to add just a hint of it to her pancakes, but your mother obviously wasn't too fond about that."
"Because Trixie wasn't old enough yet to have alcohol… ok, never mind," replied Chloe, not wanting to have the same long discussion with Lucifer that they had before. "Rory, since there's no office appointments for the time being, I decided to go and be with my dad up above for a few hours while you enjoy some time with… really, Lucifer?"
"You can't blame me for wanting to enjoy the same experience, Detective," said the Devil, who was currently preparing his own meal of whiskey-flavored waffles.
Letting out a sigh, Chloe just shook her head in amusement and bid them both goodbye for the time being before walking away from the dining table. A few seconds after her mom was gone, Rory looked over at her father. "Please tell me you still got those blow-up sumo outfits."
"Perhaps. Why the curious interest?" asked Lucifer, frowning in confusion a bit while getting ready to add his own whiskey choice to his breakfast plate.
A sly smile appeared on Rory's face as she waited for Lucifer to figure it out himself, and the Devil's eyes widened a bit once he did. "Oh, I see… well, if that's the case, then we're definitely not doing it here in our home."
