It was Christmas in Mertopia, and all the Merbians, including Sonic and Merna were excited for the big Christmas party that was going to be held at the Mertopian palace. Speaking of Sonic and Merna, the two Merhogs were currently swimming through the streets of Mertopia.
"Christmas is my favorite time of year. Always has been. It's just such a charitable time of year; Giving, giving, and more giving. Such a holiday suits me to a tee." Sonic chuckled as he held Merna's hand as the two Merhogs swam through the streets of Mertopia.
Merna smiled and nodded in agreement. "Christmas has always been my favorite time of year as well. But to be fair, us Merbians never knew Christmas existed until you and Tails told us about it after you guys saved Mertopia from Dr. Eggman and Captain Memo." She replied to the cobalt blue Merhog.
Sonic nodded back. "Yeah. I'm glad that me and Tails were able to introduce Christmas to Mertopia, because it would be kinda dull not being able to celebrate Christmas down here under the sea." He replied back to the orange Merhog.
"Yeah. I'm glad that you and Tails were able to introduce Christmas to Mertopia as well, because it's brought the people of Mertopia even closer together as a civilization. So I'm very grateful for it, and so is Mother." Merna smiled as she kissed Sonic's cheek, causing the cobalt blue Merhog to blush and giggle.
"I guess I've done more for Mertopia than I realize I have." Sonic said to Merna with a smile.
Merna smiled back and nodded. "Yes, you have. We're not sure how we could ever return you the favor for introducing such a wonderful holiday to our city, and I doubt we will ever be able to, but I'm sure you don't need the favor returned, do you, Sonic?" She asked him curiously.
Sonic shook his head. "Nah, you don't need to return the favor at all. I'm just happy helping people, and a thank you is more than enough of a reward for me." He replied with a smile.
"I wouldn't expect anything less from you, Sonic. You're just too good to us all." Merna smiled back as the two Merhogs continued to swim through the streets of Mertopia.
Later that night, Sonic and Merna were having dinner with the Queen of the Merhogs and a handful of servants of the Mertopian palace. Sonic hummed in delight as he ate. "Your Merbian delicacies continue to amaze me, no matter how many times I eat them all. They're very tasty and feed you well." The cobalt blue Merhog remarked as he ate.
The Queen of the Merhogs smiled in delight at Sonic's compliments of the dinner. "I'm glad you like our food, Sonic. We do the very best to make the hero who saved our city from Dr. Eggman and Captain Memo the best food we have to offer." She replied to her future son in-law.
Merna smiled and nodded in agreement. "Indeed. We're glad our food is able to please you, Sonic." She chimed in.
Sonic chuckled. "Well, I'm an easy Merhog to please, so this food is more than enough to please me." He smiled as he finished eating, then waited on everyone else to finish eating their food. As soon as the rest of the people at the table finished their food, everyone proceeded to get up.
"Well, you're all free to do as you like. In three days, we'll be holding a Christmas party in the ballroom of the palace around 6 PM, so don't forget to come." The Queen of the Merhogs announced.
Sonic and Merna nodded at that. "We won't forget, Mother. We'll make sure of it." Merna assured her.
"Yeah. We've got good memory, so how could we forget something as important as the Christmas party?" Sonic chimed in with a smile.
"Alright. Well, have fun." The Queen of the Merhogs smiled back as Sonic and Merna flexed their tails and swam off into the palace.
