Andy opened her eyes and blinked several times, but once she realised where she was, she smiled happily. She turned and saw Miranda lying on her stomach sleeping peacefully. She caressed her arm lightly, not wanting to wake her up. She decided to get up and went into her room to get dressed.
When she finally moved downstairs the twins were already sat at the breakfast bar drinking some juice. "Well, good morning you two, you're both up early," Andy said with smiled for them. They looked at each other and grinned. "What is it?" Andy asked when they started giggling.
"We saw you," Caroline said and giggled again.
"Okay, I saw you too...umm more details?" Andy raised an eyebrow.
"Asleep, in mom's bed," Cassidy whispered, her ears turning slightly pink as she blushed and she and Caroline giggled again.
"Oh, alright. Umm...well, you see..." Andy started, chuckling a little nervously.
"Don't worry Andy, we love you..." Caroline offered before jumping up to hug her.
"...And we know mom loves you too." Cassidy finished, crashing into her arms too.
"Okay, are you sure? Andy asked while she hugged the two little girls. "Do you need to talk about anything?"
"Uh, well, maybe just one thing?" Cassidy mumbled into her neck. "Do you love mom?"
"Like really love her?" Caroline asked.
"More than you'll ever know. And guess what else? I love you guys a ton too." Andy said pulling back slightly to give them a huge smile before hugging them tightly to her chest once again.
"That's so awesome, Andy," Caroline stated.
"And as mom would say, 'that's acceptable'." They all laughed as Cassidy mimicked Miranda. "You know, we love you too"
"Now what do you say we make your mom some breakfast?" Andy suggested.
"Can we make french toast, Andy, pleeeeease?" Cassidy begged.
"Oh yes, we have to, mom loves it." Caroline insisted.
"Great, french toast it is then." Andy agreed. Letting go of the twins, she walked over to the fridge to get the ingredients. Setting the items needed for breakfast aside, Andy put some music on for them and they started dancing around the kitchen, laughing while they prepared a lovely family breakfast.
Once everything was set Miranda appeared and took in the lovely scene before greeting them. "Good morning, my darling's."
"Moo-oom, we let you sleep in and made breakfast for you," Caroline yelled excitedly as she ran and hugged her.
"Yes, since Andy was with you we didn't want to disturb you," Cassidy said, moving a little more slowly towards her and hugging her as well. Miranda's eyes went wide and Andy smiled softly at her since she felt the same just moments before. "Don't look like that mom. Andy said she loves you. So we approve." Cassidy explained.
"Yup, we sure do." Caroline agreed. "Let's eat, mom. We made your favourite." She added.
Andy stepped over to her and gave her a little peck on the lips. "Good morning, lovely." She offered a little shyly before entwining their hand and leading her to the table. She set a freshly brewed cup of coffee in front of her and served her the homemade french toast.
"I think this is the first time we've ever seen you speechless, mom," Cassidy said with a small giggle.
"I am." Miranda exhaled softly. "I wanted to tell you, but I guess now you know. Thank you for being so accepting of my relationship with Andrea. Do you have any questions for us?" She asked and took a sip of her scalding hot coffee.
"Mo-om, you sound just like Andy. No, as long as you love each other and are happy, we are okay with it." Caroline stated. "Plus Andy is way cool." She said, digging into her french toast.
"That's sweet of you to say, Caroline," Andy said.
"I am glad to hear that, but I uh... I meant because we're both women?" Miranda added, secretly dreading having to answer any questions but wanting to get them out of the way, and ensuring her daughters were truly comfortable with the changes.
"I don't think there's anything unusual about it." Caroline chewed thoughtfully. "Cindy has two mom's, and for me, it doesn't matter if you love a man or a woman as long as the person loves us. What do you think Cass?" She asked.
"I agree, sis. Being gay, lesbian or whatever, is nothing unusual these days." Cassidy agreed. "Can you pass me the juice please, Andy?"
"I have to say I'm totally in awe of you girls. The way you see things make me so proud and just a little bit emotional." Andy said, wiping tears of happiness from her eyes even as she chuckled.
"I agree with Andrea, I'm very proud of you, my Bobbsey's. And also, coming into our room will not disturb us. You are always welcome to join us for a cuddle in the mornings, okay?" Miranda stated softly. "Now, what's the plan for today?" She asked smiling at her newfound girlfriend.
"I've been texting Roy. I need to go to my apartment later today to get some things and see if anything's come alive in my fridge and all that." Andy grinned. "I can do that and then, if you like, pick up some dinner afterwards for all of us?"
"I wish we could come and see your apartment?" Cassidy stated.
"Well, I don't mind, but you'll have to ask your mom first," Andy said.
"Why don't we all go and help Andrea and perhaps we can go for a walk in Central Park for a bit afterwards? I am sure that will be safe since it's outside."
"Yay!" Cassidy cheered.
"Can we order pizza and watch a movie tonight?" Caroline asked.
Miranda smiled and Andy clapped her hands together. "Sounds great. So I guess we have a plan?"
They cleared the table and the twins ran up to get dressed for the day while Andy and Miranda cleaned the kitchen.
When the dishwasher was loaded Andy turned it on and felt two arms slip around her waist.
"I missed you this morning," Miranda whispered, clinging to Andy's body from behind.
Andy smiled and caressed Miranda's small hands before lacing their fingers together. "I didn't have the heart to wake you. You looked so content. So I decided I'd make you some breakfast." She turned around and slid her arms around Miranda's neck. "Can I get a good morning kiss?" She asked and nuzzled the editor's ear.
"You'd get a lot more if we were alone," Miranda whispered seductively as she claimed Andy's lips in a searing kiss.
Eventually breaking apart, they basked in each other's warmth and once they'd calmed down Andy looked at her in wonder.
"What?" Miranda asked and smiled up at her.
"You are just the most wonderful and beautiful human being, Miranda," Andy whispered. "I am in awe of you and your beauty and I just can't quite wrap my head around things." She explained.
Miranda grew teary at the heartfelt words. "You have no idea how happy you've made me," Miranda admitted. "You complete me, Andrea Sachs." She said and kissed her once again. This time it was much softer and slower.
"I love you," Andy whispered between kisses.
"I love you too, my darling," Miranda replied breathlessly, pecking her lisp lightly when she saw two redheads peeking into the kitchen. "Come on in girls." She pulled away, ready to break the embrace.
Andy had other plans she held on tight to Miranda.
"Come on, let's all squeeze your mom." She declared.
The twins charged into the room and wrapping their arms around the two women, happily accepted the challenge.
"Oh, goodness," Miranda said as they all squeezed her tightly.
They stood hugging each other, a twin on either side of them for some time.
"I didn't think that our lockdown would be so awesome," Cassidy said.
"We're almost like a family now," Caroline said.
"We are a family now." Miranda insisted, gazing at Andy meaningfully.
"Yes, we are." Andy agreed, pulling the three Priestly's closer.
They all hugged each other once more.
