Love Doesn't Sit Still

When Will My life Begin?

A/N: This Fan Fiction is based on the Galar region and games (Sword/Shield) featuring CanonXOC It is based on the GAMES not the anime/manga. And to clarify confusion (because I know I have written multiple fic based on these games XD ) This is a completely different and separate story from the other Sword/Shield fics I have written. They are not connected and they do not interract.

"Uuuuuugh!" the young girl groaned as she threw herself onto her bed.

From the big city to the small podunk country-side. As if she wasn't lonely enough.

"Aanya?" her mother huffed, "Aanya are you still sulking?"

"I'm not sulking!" she pouted.

"Goodness, Aanya." her mother sighed, "You weren't happy in the city, you're not happy in the country...I don't know what to do." she stated, "I don't even understand why you're so upset...it's not as though you left anything behind." she stated, "You didn't have any friends or anything..."

"Maybe that's because we never really stay anywhere long enough for me to make any..." Aanya pouted.

Aanya's mother was a busy woman. Eversince her father left, her mother worked anywhere and everywhere she could. As such, they never stayed anywhere for very long. Aanya had never even met another kid, let alone anyone her own age.

I can't help but wonder...

She thought to herself.

When will my life begin...?

The sound of a firm tapping clattered against the front door. It came as a surprise to Aanya, as she certainly never expected anyone to bother knocking on their door. After all, it's not like they knew anyone...the JUST got to Potswick...

"Aanya...would you answer that?" her mother asked. She had trapped herself in the back behind towers of unpacked boxes. The young girl heaved a heavy sigh and rolled her eyes. She rolled herself out of her bed landing with a thump on the floor and a groan before standing and approaching the front door. With a pale hand gripping the handle she gave it a squeeze and took in a deep breath swinging the door open to a sight she had never expected to see.

"Oh...Hello!"

It was a boy. More than that, it was a boy who couldn't have been any older than Aanya herself. He had olive skin, darker hair, brighter eyes, and a smile a mile wide. Needless to say, she was stunned. Her voice had caught in her throat, having had literally no experience with human interaction...

Not with kids her age...

And especially not with boys.

"U-Uhm..." he chuckled awkwardly, "Are...you okay?"

"U-Uh-"

"Who is it, dear?" her mother had asked as she had wandered out wiping dusty hands into a dirtied apron, "Oh my word." she blinked,"Aanya, look at that, hunny~!" she beamed,"It's another kid, looks to be around the same age as you!" she giggled, "And a Boy, too..."

"Mom..." Aanya growled, trying to maintain her embarassment with a grin. It seemed that even the boy was feeling it, too...

"Sorry dear~" she said to the boy, "It's the first time Aanya's ever had a chance to meet someone her age..."

"Mom...!" the girl gasped.

"Wow, really?" The boy blinked, "Like...ever?"

"Afraid so." her mother nodded,"Aren't you lucky, Aanya dear?" she giggled,"He's kinda cute wouldn't you say?"

"MOM!" Aanya blushed and heaved a heavy sigh, this time planting her face into her pal as the boy laughed.

"Okay mom you know what-" she said nudging her mother away as the woman chuckled, "Why don't you just...go unpack some more boxes." she said, "In the back, yeah?"

The boy snickered with a sheepish grin. It was a mix of embarassment and amusement.

"S-So, uhm..." he spoke between light hearted chuckled, "Is that...really true?" he asked, "Have' you really never met another kid before?"

Aanya gulped as her cheeks got rosey.

"Look..." she said, "It's not like that, I mean-uh..." she blinked and heaved a heavy sigh, "Obviously I know that other kids my age exist-okay?" she huffed,"I just...never got the chance to meet one...so..." she pouted.

The boy's expression changed and he blinked.

"Woah...you're serious." he said softly,"So you've... REALLY never had friends then?"

She gave him a pained expression, but said nothing further.

"I see..." he sighed softly, and folded over his arms. He seemed to be pondering something before shooting her a grin. It was stunning, and took her by surprise, Not having even really realizing that she was twirling her long dark purple hair.

"Well then, I'll just have to be your first one!" he stated.

"Wait, say what!?" she gasped.

Is this guy serious!?

he grinned as he held out his hand to her, "I'm Hop." he stated, "I live next door."

And so this...is the way we meet...?

Aanya thought to herself.

Little did she know that this was marking the beginning of a whole new chapter in her life from here on out.
