Love Doesn't Sit Still

A/N: This Fan Fiction is based on the Galar region and games (Sword/Shield) featuring CanonXOC It is based on the GAMES not the anime/manga. And to clarify confusion (because I know I have written multiple fic based on these games XD ) This is a completely different and separate story from the other Sword/Shield fics I have written. They are not connected and they do not interract.
"All right Lee, Out with it!" said Hop, "I won the race! Aanya came Second!" he stated, " We beat the Champion, so we deserve a prize~"
"I still say you cheated..." Aanya huffed, panting. The three of them now were resting in Hop's front lawn.
"Prize? What Prize" Leon teased with a cheeky grin.
"Don't mess with me Lee!" said Hop, "You brought Aanya and me a Poke'mon, right!?" said Hop, "You did, didn't you!?" he grinned, "I know you must have!"
"Wait-me too!?" Aanya blinked.
"But of course~" said Leon, "I heard loads about you from my little brother it's like you're practically family now~" he chuckled, "It felt odd not getting you a gift!"
"AHA!" said Hop, "So there IS a gift!" he beamed, "Fork it over!"
"HaHaHa, right then." said Leon, "The greatest gift from the greatest Champion~ it's showtime!"
Leon tossed 3 Poke'balls, and out popped three small Poke'mon.
"We've got Grookey~ the Grass type!" said Leon, "Scorbunny~ the fire type! and Sobble~ the water type!" he grinned, "So...which will you choose?"
"I...get to choose...like...one to keep?" Aanya was speechless. She never expected such a gift and hardly had words to say.
"Go on...You pick first."Hop whispered softly by her ear and flashed her a grin, "I already have my Wooloo, after all~" he winked, " I mean, you have Floofy too...but I technically had my Wooloo longer..this one's all you, Aan." he grinned.
"Really..." she blinked. His smile signaled that he wasn't changing his mind. "Then..." she said softly. She didn't know who to choose...they were all so cute. "I'll choose Sobble!" she giggled as the excited chameleon excitedly placed his two front feet into her hands.
"Sobble?" Hop blinked, "Why that one?" he wondered, "Any reason?"
" I'm not sure..." she said softly, "...Maybe because it's known for crying a lot?" she blinked, " I used to cry a lot too...before I met you, Hop~" she smiled cutely with rosey little cheeks.
"Ahh...really..." Hop's voice caught a little...he wasn't expecting an answer like that...especially not while she wore such a look on her face...it took him by surprise.
"W-Well then..." he gulped, and then flashed her a grin, "I'm glad I could make your tears go away..." he smiled, "Right, then I'll go with...Scorbunny! You're mine!" He grinned, "I aim to be the Champion...so prepare yourself for some tough training!"
Though Scorbunny seemed more than happy to Oblige.
"It's so cute~" Aanya beamed, "And he's as fiery as you are- I think it fits!" she grinned.
"And just what do you mean by that exactly!?" Hop huffed as he blushed while Leon let loose a hardy laugh.
"Good one!" the older brother grinned, "That's exactly why I got these Poke'mon for you in the first place~" he stated, "So that you two could both train, and grow together." he said, "Push each other and make each other stronger..."
"As rivals!" Hop beamed.
"Well that's enough Rival talk for one night..." said the boys's mother, "Dinner's ready children Bring along your Poke'mon and let's all eat~!"
"MOM!" Aanya called out as she watched her mother wobble her steps with a stacked up high pile of cakes and pies for dessert.
"Oh, watch yourself!" said Leon, as he hurriedly rushed over to catch her balance. Up close and personal like this, he was actually quite handsome, and even Suzette fell to a flush...only for a moment.
"O-Oh I-Thank you..." she said softly.
"Like mother like daughter hm?" Hop's mom chuckled.
"Pardon?" Aanya blushed, as she knew it was directed toward her, and Hop's mom only laughed a bit more.
"Don't you think that's a bit much, Ms. Suzette?" asked Hop.
"Nonsense~ This is a time for celebration!"
"Why? To meet the Champion?" Aanya snickered as she helped her mother set the table. They needed a whole other one just for desserts it seemed, it was like a buffet bar.
"I mean sure meeting the region Champion is celebratory...but in the end it's just Hop's brother." she smirked, "the same Hop who likes to rise bright and early and send his Wooloo to tackle the front door until he gets ME up...so I don't know what all you're expecting~" she smirked.
"HEY!" Hop huffed, "It gets YOU up in the morning, does it not?" he laughed.
"OUCH!" laughed Leon, "I see you can bust chops with the best of them, eh Aanya?" Lee grinned.
"What can I say, she learned from the best!" Hop snickered, "I taught her well~"
"Huh, well yes that is celebratory too for certain But I've wonderous news to share as well~" Suzette smiled, leaving the children a bit curious.
"Well come on then don't leave us the dark Ms. Suzette~" Hop beamed, "Spill the beans!"
Aanya giggled as she shook her head while she and her Sobble helped Leon straighten out the platters. Her mother always was a bit over dramatic, and she found it amusing when Hop would feed into it. He was always so facinated and excited about things...
A bit of a ham if you ask me...
She snickered to herself.
"Well all right if you must know~" her mother giggled, " I do believe I just landed a very well paying job!" Suzette grinned.
"Oh that's fantastic, Suzette~!" Hop's mother grinned, "Congratualtions!"
"Good on you, mate~" Leon grinned, "What sort of job is it?"
"A very well paying high end job opportunity in one of the biggest cities in the Poke'mon world~" Suzette beamed, "Hearthome City!"
She sounded so excited...but a long and heavy silence fell upon the small crowd as they exchanged glances.
"O-Oh, you mean, like...online or something?" Aanya dared pry...an action she would soon regret. She knew what it meant...but she didn't want to believe it...
"W-Well no...not exactly..."Suzette said softly.
Hop twitched a little. Surely it didn't mean...
"...We'd have to move there of course..." Aanya could feel a tight constriction in her chest,.
"Wh-what? Move?" Hop blinked, "A-Already? but...you just got here." he said, "It's only been a few months..."
"It's exciting, isn't it?" asked her mother, "We'd be moving back into the city...a bigger one at that!" she explained, "Hearthome City is one of commerce, so there's no shortage of jobs," she stated, "And the Contest hall is Gorgeous~"
"it truly is a wonderful opportunity..." said Hop's mother, though he wasn't comforted by this at all...
"B-But..." Aanya gulped, "...What's wrong with the job you have here...?"
Suzette froze a bit. She hadn't expected her daughter to respond like this...
"Well nothing really..." she stated, "I mean, this job is temporary anyway so I already had to make preparations for something better for when the job here is up." she stated.
Leon let loose a low whistle.
"Hearthome City, huh? he blinked, "That's in the Sinnoh region isn't it?" he asked, "So far away...I guess it's a good thing I came when I did...or I might have missed my chance to meet Aanya at all." he gave an awkward smile, "My little brother spoke so highly of her...it's a shame that I am just meeting you and you're up and off again so soon."
"Hearthome would be permanant..." said Suzette, "And it pays a lot more..."
"So...you would choose more money over happiness?"
"Aanya!?" Suzette was stunned, "I am only doing this with your best interest in mind-"
"Really!?" she snapped, "Because if it were for my best interest, we wouldn't be leaving here at all!" she stated as she slammed down the paper platters.
"Aanya!" her mother gasped, "What has gotten into you all of the sudden? I thought you liked living in the city over the country?"
"That's only because I thought living in the country would be boring and lonely until-" she stopped, glancing over at Hop who averted his gaze awkwardly. She blushed while gritting her teeth. This wasn't a way she wanted to act...especially not with him watching. He didn't know what to say or do...he couldn't take any action on anything- but his heart went out to Aanya. She was merely expressing the feelings they were both having right now...
"Well you have Poke'mon now, so you won't be lonely-"
" Well sure..." said Aanya, "Floofy is great, and Sobby is wonderful, but they are Poke'mon that were gifted to me as a welcome present from the very people you're saying we are now going to have to leave!"
"Aan..." Hop wanted to reach out for her, but Leon held him back and shook his head, so he took a different route instead, "S-Say uh-The kabons are ready!" he grinned as he grabbed one in each hand and waved them around, "Why not talk more about this over a scrummy meal, yeah?"
But Aanya was in no mood. She couldn't even look at him...or at anyone for that matter, keeping her gaze down as she lifted her Sobble into her arms.
"Thanks... But, I'm not hungry..."
Come on, Aan- it will get cold-"
But she was already gone. Quick footed after a turn on her heel she ran back toward her home.
"Wait-Aan!" Hop called to her but she didn't even acknowledge his call...
She never even looked back. With a heavy sigh, Hop dropped his arms, the two kabobs now wasted as they fell to the dirt.
"I'm sorry..." he spoke with a strained smile, "...Please excuse me..."
"Oh, Hop..." his mother cooed softly as he passed her by with his head hung down, making his way to his room.
"...I'll go talk to him." said Leon with a sigh as he placed down the platters and followed his little brother inside...
