Love Doesn't Sit Still

A/N: This Fan Fiction is based on the Galar region and games (Sword/Shield) featuring CanonXOC It is based on the GAMES not the anime/manga. And to clarify confusion (because I know I have written multiple fic based on these games XD ) This is a completely different and separate story from the other Sword/Shield fics I have written. They are not connected and they do not interract.
"I'm so sorry..." Suzette stated repeatedly over as she helped the boys's mother clean up after the rather awkward incident beforehand, "I never meant to bring a downer to the party."
"Oh don't worry dear, Leon and I know that." said their mother, "You were excited for a wonderful opportunity, and no one would fault you for that..." she sighed, "I just think the children are the ones taking the news rather hard." she blinked, "You see, before you and Aanya moved in up the hill a few months back, Hop didn't really have any other friends around here." she stated.
This took Suzette by surprise. After all from what she has seen in their short time, Hop was a good hearted always ever so bright young boy... She had a hard time imagining that he was like Aanya...
"Potswick is such a small town." chuckled his mom, "There aren't really many older kids around these parts...so after his brother Leon left on his Poke'mon journey and became Champion...he never saw too much of him, and so he got rather lonely."
"I see..."Suzette sighed softly, "I never would have imagined..."
"Oh yes." Hop's mother chuckled, "To say he was excited to hear about Aanya...and to meet her, was a bit a bit of an understatement."
Aanya's mother fell silent for a while. She hadn't thought that far...she was excited to finally have something permanant for her and Aanya, that she didn't consider what they would be leaving behind...
What she was asking Aanya to leave...
Aanya'[s very first friend...
And she hardly got much time with him at all...
Suzette thought to herself.
Of COURSE she would be upset with me...
"I see...well it's no wonder the two got on with each other so well." Suzette said softly, "...They were kindered spirits from the start."

Hop sighed. He sat on the floor with one leg out stretched, and one knee up, and arm crossed over it while he rested his forehead against it as his Wooloo bleated sadly, trying to nuzzle him with its snoot. Even Scorbunny sat on his shoulder and pawed at his new Trainer's head as Leon came in carefully with a gentle tapping on the open door. It seemed the boy was too upset to shut it.
"Might I come in for a spell?" he asked.
"...The door's open isn't it?" Hop stated. Even if he had said know, his brother would have just walked in anyway.
"A bit of an off show you put on out there don't you think?" he asked gently seating himself onto Hop's bed, "It's not like you to waste mum's food..."
"Yeah, I know-" Hop sighed, "I didn't mean it-I felt bad-I just..."
Leon simply nodded and listened before Hop heaved a heavy sigh and leaned his head back.
"...They only just got here, you know?" he said softly, "It's only been about 3 months, and now they are getting ready to leave again? So suddenly..."
"...This isn't really about them leaving, is it little brother?" asked Leon, "This is more about, Aanya leaving, right?"
Hop cracked a sheepish smile before sighing again.
"...I was so excited...to hear that a kid my age moved into that house on the hill, ya know?" he stated, "As soon as mum mentioned it, I rushed off quickly to meet her..." he chuckled, "She was...a little awkward...and I soon came to find that, like me, she never really had a friend of her own before." he said softly, "I mean...not really onw our own age, you know?" he grinned, "So I was so excited to be her first one!" he chuckled, "I know it has only been a few months...but it was Ace!" he beamed, "...She's my best mate...I don't...want her to go away..."
Leon listened and nodded. He could feel his brother's sadness and sighed, gently patting his shoulder.
"Maybe not." said Leon, "I'm sorry to say, little brother, but I'm afriad we have no control or sa over that matter..."
"I know..." Hop sighed and Leon blinked for a moment.
"...but there IS something you can do, you know."
"Really?" Hop blinked.
Leon nodded.
"If she's truly your best mate, someone you cherish so, then, what you can do, is cherish all of the time you DO have with her." he said softly with a smile.
Hop's eyes saddened. This isn't really what he wanted to hear...but he did know that his brother was right.
"...You're right." he said softly, "...I'm gonna call her." he said with a sad smile.
"I think that's a good idea." grinned, Leon as he rose to his feet, "I'll leave you to it, then."
Hop nodded and smiled as leon up and left, and once his bedroom door came to a close, he picked up his Rotom Phone, and dialed Aanya's number.
Ring ring ring!
Ring ring ring!
Phone Call! Phone Call!
Ring ring ring!
Ring ring ring!
Phone Call! Phone Call!
"Oi is THAT ring tone out dated..." Aanya cringed slightly, "Mom bought me this new phone with her first paycheck...I still haven't set everything up on it..." she sighed, "Rotom, who's calling?"
Hop! Hop!
Ring ring ring!
Ring ring ring!
Phone Call! Phone Call!
Hop is calling you!
"Hop is calling?" Aanya blinked, "Answer it please!"
Rrrrroger! Bzzt! Bzzt! BEEP
"Oi, Aanya?" Hop's voice rang through Rotom's electronic mouth, "Took you long enough, you're not avoiding me, are you?"
"No, not really..." Aanya said softly, "What's up, Hop?"
"Nothing much..." he sighed, "I just wanted to check in on you...I haven't seen you at all today since you left the party earlier."
"Oh, right..." Aanya sighed, "Sorry about that." she blinked, "I didn't mean to ruin Leon's Welcome Home Party..."
"You didn't ruin anything!" Hop corrected, "You were upset and I don't blame you, I was too." he siughed, "But it wouldn't exactly be right proper of me to lash out at your mum, yeah?"
"HaHa...no I guess not..." Aanya chuckled awkwardly, "I'm sorry all the same."
"Yeah...I'm sorry too." he sighed.
There was a silence between them for a while.
"Aan? Turn on your video for me, will you?"
"What? Why!?"
"Don't question me, mate! Just do it! Please?" he asked, "Look I'll turn mine on too, okay?" he stated, "And I'll just keep making mad faces until you turn yours on! ready? GO!"
Despite his jest, Hop wasn't joking. As soon as Rotom's video display function clicked on, the first thing Aanya saw was Hop's many rediculous faces. She was so taken by surprise that he actually was making faces, that she couldn't breathe for a moment when she burst out laughing.
"Okay! All right! I'll turn the camera on!" she laughed, "Just stop with that mess!"
"Ah, there she is!" Hop grinned when he saw Aanya's face display on Rotom's screen, "Now was that so hard, hm?" he blinked a moment, "You've been crying...haven't you mate?"
"What!? NO!" she huffed defensively.
It does no good to lie to me, you know!" huffed Hop, "I can see your eyes!" He sighed, "i'm sorry, mate." he said softly, "I guess I really didn't do too fine a job keeping your tears away, did I?"
"Don't penalize yourself for this, Hop." she said softly, "You didn't put these tears here," she sighed, "I'm just a cry baby."
"No, you're just upset and there's a vast difference there!" he stated.
The way she expressed her emotions so easily on her face, was one of the things he liked most about Aanya. Silence fell between them again and each of them glanced out the window towards the starry sky above Galar...but a red flash shot across it and Aanya gasped.
"Did you see that?" she asked Hop.
"I think that might have been a Wishing Star, mate!" said Hop, "They tend to fall all around Galar from time to time- hurry! You should make a wish!"
"Seriously, Hop? And how old are we?"
"Fine then! I'm gonna do it for you!" he laughed, "I want Aanya to stay! I want Aanya to stay! I WANT AANYA TO STAY!" he stated, "There, I've said it three times...now it should come true, yeah?"
"Yeah, if only it worked that way..." she laughed. She had to try really hard to hide the rosey redness of her cheeks. The fact that Hop could say and do such silly things so easily and openly in front of anyone with no shame or remorse- This was one of the things Aanya liked most about him. She smiled.
"yeah, you're right...maybe it doesn't." he said softly, "Then I guess the next bst thing we can do now is what lee said, and just cherish the time we have left together-" he stopped, "Wait...Lee..."
"Lee?" Aanya blinked, "Hop? Are you okay?"
"I have an idea!" Hop beamed, "Aanya! Meet me tomorrow, okay!?" he demanded.
"What? Why? What are-"
"Don't question me mate, just meet me tomorrow!"
And with a grin, he clicked away and hung up, leaving a stunned Aanya alone with her Rotom Phone.
"Uhm...okay...then I guess, I'll see you tomorrow." she said softly, blinking to the blank screen, "...Good Bye..."
