Coming Together
After the long hour orientation for the Advance Class, the students were leaving the classroom heading for their dorms. Ramza, Meliadoul, and Satsuki stood up and they spoke to each other. There were people that were slowly approaching them.
"Ramza," A female voice said, "Meliadoul."
Ramza and Meliadoul were surprised and they turned and were shocked to see someone that they recognized.
"A-Agrias?" Ramza spoke.
"Agrias Oaks?" Meliadoul said.
Agrias stood and slowly approached them swelling with emotions.
"It really is you," Agrias said, "Ah, the gods has fated us to be together in the Soul Society and here we are, in this academy."
"Ramza," Another female voice spoke.
Ramza and Meliadoul turned and were shocked in who they saw and it was Rapha and Marach.
"Rapha, Marach," Ramza said.
Meliadoul saw someone and was shocked as the person just stood and not moving and it was her own brother Isilud.
"Isilud," Meliadoul said, "is it really you, my dear brother."
"M-Meliadoul," Isilud said, "it's… it's good to see you again."
Meliadoul rushed over and hugged her brother. Isilud was surprised as his sister hugged him tightly.
"I was heartbroken when you were killed," Meliadoul said as she was tearing up.
"I'm sorry Sister," Isilud said, "I was ignorant of what was really going on."
"I was the same way," Meliadoul said, "I also believed in the lies."
Afterwards, Isilud turned to Ramza and approached him.
"Ramza Beoulve," Isilud said.
"Isilud," Ramza said.
"I am sorry," Isilud said, "you were right. You were right about everything. I was so blind to my father and the fact that he became a demon."
"It's all right," Ramza said, "that's all in the past."
"Still I caused a lot of problems for you," Isilud said with a sad expression, "I even took your sister away and I…" Isilud looked away, "I ended the life of that priest."
"Simon…" Ramza said.
Meanwhile, students from Class Two were leaving their classroom and were heading out. Some went to their dorms while others went to various places to get a feel of it. As people including the teacher were leaving, Alma and Ovelia were facing each other for the first time in years and were surprised to see each other.
"O-Ovelia," Alma said.
"Alma, it really is you," Ovelia said as she was filled with emotion.
"I don't believe this," Alma said, "you're here… in the Soul Society…"
"Yes," Ovelia said, "thank goodness. Alma, my dear friend, I'm so happy to see you again."
"Yes so am I," Alma said with a nod.
"Um…" Tietra spoke.
Alma and Ovelia turned to Tietra and Alma brought Tietra closer.
"Ovelia, let me introduce you," Alma said with a smile.
"Wow, this is quite a shock," A male voice said.
"Indeed," A male voice said.
Four other people arrived and it was Mustadio, Ladd, Alicia, and Lavian in which Alma was surprised.
"Wait, I remember you," Alma said, "you were with my brother."
"Yes, glad you remember us," Mustadio said.
"They were with Ramza?" Tietra asked in her head.
The four looked at Tietra.
"Friend of yours?" Ladd asked.
"Yes," Alma said happily, "she's actually my best friend," Alma turned to Tietra, "go ahead."
"Oh yes," Tietra said, "it's nice to meet you all. My name is Tietra Heiral. Thank you for helping Ramza save his sister Alma back in Ivalice."
"Oh it's our pleasure," Mustadio said.
"You don't have to thank us," Lavian said.
"Indeed, we were just doing our part," Alicia said.
"We stuck with Ramza so we had no problem helping in what he wanted to do," Ladd said proudly.
Mustadio noticed the expression on Ovelia and was surprised.
"O-Ovelia?" Mustadio asked.
The others looked and were surprised to see the shocked expression on Ovelia's face.
"Ovelia, what's wrong?" Alma asked worried.
"I beg your pardon," Ovelia said as she looked at Tietra, "you said your name is Tietra Heiral, correct?"
"Uh yes, that's right," Tietra replied.
"I see," Ovelia said as she had her head down, "so you're her… you're his sister."
"His sister?" Tietra replied a bit confused but realized and was wide eyed, "Wait, you knew my brother Delita?"
"I did," Ovelia said, "your brother Delita married me and became king and in the process in doing so, he used everyone and tossed them aside and some he even killed and then… he killed me in the end."
Tietra was shocked hearing what Ovelia had just said and Alma was shocked as well. Mustadio, Ladd, Alicia, and Lavian looked away with sad expressions.
"N-No, that can't be true," Tietra said, "my brother wouldn't do that. He's not that kind of person. He wouldn't do something so cruel."
"It's the truth," Ovelia said bitterly, "he even went as far as to use Ramza for his own gain and tossed him aside as well."
Tietra was shocked again as she stepped back and she shook her head in disbelief.
"I understand that you don't want to accept it as fact," Ovelia said, "in fact, if I was in your position, I would react the same way but sometimes the truth can be cruel and I have learned that lesson time and time again."
The strength of Tietra's legs gave out and she fell on the floor. Alma went to Tietra asking if she was okay.
"Ovelia, are you and the others here?" Agrias's voice called, "there are some people here to see you."
Ovelia and the others turned and were shocked to see Ramza, Meliadoul, Marach, Rapha, and Isilud. Ramza was wide eyed to see Alma and Alma in turned was wide eyed to see her brother. The reunion of siblings had commenced.
Meanwhile the old Shinigami was walking through the corridor of a large building and he had his thoughts.
Flashback: Last Week
"I see…" Kosei said, "what about Ramza?"
"He's fine," Yosuke said, "he actually plans to be a Shinigami."
"Oh?" Kosei replied as he was pleased, "So he finally came around. That is good. Someone like him shouldn't let his talents go to waste just sitting and doing nothing."
"Why are you so concern with Ramza Beoulve?" Yosuke asked.
"Oh, isn't it obvious?" Kosei replied, "Because I find him interesting."
"You find him interesting," Yosuke replied raising an eyebrow, "That's your reason?"
"There more to him that meets the eye," Kosei said, "he's rare with power and talent and if pointed at the right direction, he could help change things for the better."
"What are you talking about?" Yosuke asked.
"If things go the set path, you might be able to see what I'm getting at," Kosei said.
Flashback End
"If Ramza is really here, then hopefully I can find a way to meet the young lad," The old Shinigami said in his head.
"Cidolfus Orlandeau," A male voice called.
Orlandeau stopped and turned to see that it was Elmdore.
"Messam Elmdore," Orlandeau said.
The two men went to a storage room and the closed the door as Orlandeau leaned back against the wall facing Elmdore.
"Now I'm wondering," Orlandeau said, "am I really talking to Messam Elmdore de Limberry…" Orlandeau glared, "or am I really speaking to the Lucavi Demon, Zalera?"
Elmdore sighed and faced Orlandeau, "I assure you, it's just me… just Messam Elmdore. I am no longer possessed by the demon called Zalera. That ended with our deaths by the hands Ramza Beoulve and everyone in that party, including you."
"I see," Orlandeau said, "so you say…"
"You don't sound like you believe me," Elmdore said, "There's no need to be hostile. You and I were both allies serving under the banner of Goltanna and the Order of the Southern Sky."
"That is true," Orlandeau said, "but that was a long time ago."
"Hmm, so you say," Elmdore said, "I suppose you would feel that way since His Excellency tossed you aside for something you had no involvement in with the Church and Mullonde as a whole."
"It doesn't matter anymore," Orlandeau said, "I'm sure you didn't want to just talk about the past. So what is it that you actually want to talk about?"
"Cid, why are you looking in the circumstances regarding Kisuke Urahara and the eight people that were Hollowfied?"
"Simple, I don't believe that Captain Urahara is responsible for what happened to Captain Hirako and the other officers of captain and lieutenant class including my own captain," Orlandeau said.
"I know you don't want to hear it from me," Elmdore said, "but I'm going to strongly advise you to cease in what you are doing right now. If you insist on it, you'll only going to find yourself in a world of trouble and then what?"
"What happened a year ago never made any sense," Orlandeau pointed out, "I heard that Central 46 just received an anonymous information and just went with it not bothering with listening to the circumstances of what may have happened and why it happened. It's just like…"
"Just like when Duke Goltanna just received information from the Church of your supposedly wrongdoing when it was the Church itself committing wrongdoing," Elmdore said, "still you would do well to stop looking into things beyond your control, otherwise the consequences for your actions will not be pleasant."
"Is that a threat?" Orlandeau asked.
"It's a mere warning," Elmdore said, "I rather you not suffer because you simply got curious. I know that Love Aikawa was your captain and you want to understand why this happened but you need to let it go. That's all I'm going to say to you Cid."
Elmdore left the room and Orlandeau was left standing and he frowned.
"I'm supposed to just let it go?" Orlandeau asked, "How can I do that when something that has happened and it goes unjust?"
Back in the academy, Ramza was facing someone and it was his sister Alma and emotions swelled up for the Beoulve siblings.
"Alma, it really is you," Ramza said.
"Yes and I'm happy to see you again Brother," Alma said happily.
Ramza and Alma hugged each other feeling relief of seeing each other since the battle at the Necrohol against Ultima. They let go of each other and then Ramza turned to Tietra.
"Tietra," Ramza said.
"Ramza, it's good to see you again," Tietra said.
"Yes I feel the same way," Ramza said, "so with that…"
Ramza kneeled before Tietra which surprised the girl in question and the others witnessing it.
"Ramza, what are you doing?" Tietra asked.
"I cannot apologize enough for what happened to you," Ramza said with sadness, "you were kidnapped being mistaken as a member of the Beoulve and when we had the chance to rescue you in Ziekden, you were sacrificed and murdered in cold blood. I was a naïve fool. I believed that you would be saved and that my brothers would never let anything happen to you because you and Delita were like family. But I was wrong and my brothers never had any intention to help you having Argath take to the arrow to your heart. I'm so sorry Tietra," Ramza lowered his head, "I am so sorry Tietra for being a naïve ignorant fool."
"Please stop Ramza," Tietra pleaded, "Please get up," Tietra held Ramza's hands and made Ramza look at her, "Please you don't need to do that and stop putting yourself down. What happened to me was not your fault. There are people who are responsible but Ramza, you're not one of them."
"Tietra, I…" Ramza said sadly.
"Please Ramza, no more," Tietra pleaded, "I know how heartbroken you were about my death and because of that, you distanced yourself from your family name."
"It wasn't enough," Ramza said.
"But still," Tietra said, "you fought for my sake and I'm grateful for it."
"Tietra," Ramza said looking at Tietra.
"Ramza," Alma said.
Ramza looked at Alma.
"Please stand up," Alma said.
"I…" Ramza said.
Ramza stood up and faced his sister and her best friend. The others gathered around Ramza while Satsuki stood by and just watched.
"So these people are from the same place as Ramza and Meliadoul," Satsuki said.
"Excuse me," Alma said suddenly.
Satsuki was surprised and looked seeing Alma who stood before her.
"Um hello," Satsuki said nervously.
"You're a friend of my brother," Alma said, "Satsuki, right?"
"Yes," Satsuki said, "I'm Satsuki Akechi."
"Nice to meet you," Alma said happily, "you came from the same district as my brother. As his sister, I want to thank you for looking out for my brother."
Satsuki was surprised and then she smiled.
"It's my pleasure," Satsuki said, "and really it was your brother who looked out for me. I am grateful to him."
Alma smiled, "I'm happy to hear that."
"It's a pleasure to meet you Satsuki Akechi," Agrias said as she suddenly approached the two young women, "I am Agrias Oaks."
"Agrias," Satsuki said, "it's nice to meet you."
Soon Satsuki was getting acquainted with the other people of the party. Meanwhile Ovelia was standing alone with her thoughts and Ramza approached her.
"Your Highness," Ramza said.
"No need to address me so formally," Ovelia said, "I'm just Ovelia now."
"I see," Ramza said, "Agrias told me what happened with Delita."
"Does it shock you?" Ovelia asked.
"Yes it does," Ramza said sadly, "I never would believe that he would do this."
"In the end, he just used everyone," Ovelia said, "myself included… and you."
"I… I suppose so," Ramza said sadly, "I'm sorry."
Ovelia shook her head facing Ramza.
"You have nothing to apologize for," Ovelia said, "if anything it's my own fault for being naïve and not seeing his nature. I know he was your friend…"
"Still I sorry it happened to you," Ramza said, "you should've led a happy life free from being used."
"Someone was always using me," Ovelia said, "Ramza, there is something else that you should know."
"What is it?" Ramza asked.
"You probably don't know this but I'm not the real Ovelia Atkascha," Ovelia informed.
"Huh, I don't understand," Ramza replied, "What do you mean?"
"I was an imposter for the real Ovelia Atkascha who died years and I was just a substitute," Ovelia informed, "I don't even where I originally came from. I could have been a commoner for all I know. It was Folmarv Tengille who first broke the news to me. Of course I didn't believe him and assumed that he was lying but as time went on, I realized that it was the truth," Ovelia had a sad expression, "such a fate for someone like myself. But know what, it no longer matters to me."
"Ovelia?" Ramza asked.
"My past life is over," Ovelia declared, "there is no point in dwelling on it. There is one thing I want to focus on now," Ovelia smiled, "I came to this school to train to be a Shinigami, It is now my purpose and it's something that I decided for myself. I want to have to strength to protect myself and protect others and not have to rely on people to protect me and that is what I will do. Ramza, know that this time I will protect you and Agrias and Alma, and everyone else. It will be my way to repay you all for what you have done for me," Ovelia looked over as the rest who came by and then she approached Tietra and placed her hands on her shoulder, "that includes you Tietra."
"Me?" Tietra asked.
"Yes, I have bitterness towards your brother I admit it," Ovelia said, "however, I recalled how Delita spoke kindly to you and you were always the forefront of his thoughts so I at least know that."
"I think I can say it's the same for the rest of us as well," Isilud said.
"Isilud," Alma said.
"We have much to do," Ramza said, "we'll be here for six years learning and training. It begins now."
The others smiled as they agreed. Meanwhile in the 10th Division Barracks, Seigen was sitting in his desk in his office and was writing something down on paper. While doing so, he mind was occupied regarding individuals who were gone from the Soul Society, individuals who were his close friends.
"It's been a year," Seigen said in his head, "and I have not done anything for them. What happened was not right and I know that Kisuke is innocent," Seigen clenched his teeth as he was frustrated, "Central 46 are truly are corrupt and irredeemable fools."
Flashback: One Year Ago
Seigen was in the Central 46 Compound. The red headed captain looked around seeing the members that comprised of forty wise men and six judges that had gathered from all over the Soul Society.
"Now then 10th Division Captain Seigen Suzunami," One of the Central 46 members spoke, "what is it that you wanted to speak to us about?"
Seigen just looked on and cleared his throat.
"I'm here to speak to you about Kisuke Urahara, Tessai Tsukabishi, and the eight officers who were subjugated to Hollowfication," Seigen said.
"Oh really?" Another member of Central 46 responded, "Why?"
"Why?" Seigen replied with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes why?" The Central 46 member responded, "Surely you already heard."
"Yes but I want to know why," Seigen said, "I was told only bits of what was going on. I haven't exactly heard the whole story. If you could please tell me…"
"That is strange," Another Central 46 member said, "but I suppose that it can't be helped. In that case Captain Suzunami, listen well…"
The members of Central 46 explained of the inquiry of Kisuke and Tessai and what they have they have condemned them for and they also explained what they had decided to do with the eight Hollowfication victims. Seigen didn't like what he had heard and he didn't believe what he was told about Kisuke Urahara.
"That is not right," Seigen responded, "that is not right at all. You're making huge mistakes."
"What was that?" One of the Central 46 members asked.
"I said that is not right at all," Seigen replied back, "Kisuke Urahara would never conduct Hollowfication. He didn't do it."
"You dare doubt us?" One of the members replied.
"I know that he didn't do it," Seigen replied back, "he didn't commit this heinous act."
"You can't possibly know that," A Central 46 member replied, "how could you know? You weren't there."
"That's true I wasn't but I've known Kisuke Urahara for a long time and I know that he wouldn't commit such a deplorable act," Seigen argued, "also from what I understand, you didn't even let Kisuke explain anything. You just got the idea that Kisuke was already guilty, not bothering to hearing his side of the story, not letting him explain anything and you won't even divulge on who told you or how you even came to that conclusion."
"We have evidence that Kisuke Urahara conducted Hollowfication experiments," Another member spoke, "there were additional evidence of his crime in the 12th Division Barracks."
"What is the evidence you're talking about?" Seigen asked, "Where are they?"
"We have no need to tell you," Another member said.
Seigen frowned, "That's just…." Seigen clenched his fists, "well what about the eight people that were subjugated in Hollowfication? Why order their deaths?"
"They had obtained Hollow powers," Another member said, "You shouldn't even need to ask."
"I know that but as we all know that it was forced on them," Seigen said, "surely you can't think that it's a good idea to have them killed for something that they obviously had no desire in having in the first place."
"It doesn't matter," One of the members rebuked, "it doesn't matter how they obtained them. The fact is that they had and with that we had only one choice of action. If you or those eight want to blame someone, blame Kisuke Urahara."
"Those eight people were found in the 12th Division Barracks," Another member said, "it obvious that Kisuke Urahara conduct the experiments in Fugai after midnight last night and then he tried to continue in the 12th Division Barracks which led to Tessai Tsukabishi to use time stop and teleportation, techniques that are strictly forbidden and he used them to aid Urahara in his heinous research."
"Do you know that for sure?" Seigen asked glaring at the members of Central 46, "You never gave Kisuke the chance to explain himself and from what I'm hearing, you really don't have any real strong evidence that Kisuke even committed this act. As for Tessai Tsukabishi using those techniques, there has to be a reasonable explanation for what he did. There could be a possibility that with the condition that the eight were in, he must have used the techniques so that they could be treated in which led them being in the 12th Division Barracks. I believe what Kisuke was trying to do was actually help them and undo the Hollowfication process and that's why they were there. That must be this evidence that you speak of."
"You know nothing Captain Suzunami!" One of the Central 46 members replied harshly, "All you have presented is speculation and you have no proof."
Seigen continued to glare at Central 46 members.
"And how is that any different with what you all are doing?" Seigen argued back, "It's really all speculation with what you're saying as well and yet you want to punish Kisuke and Tessai by refusing to hear their side and just decide to execute Shinji and the others for something that was forced on them!"
"That's enough out of you 10th Division Captain!" One of the older members said, "You don't have the right to question our authority and we will not allow you to do so. If you insist on doing so, you will be punished for it! Do I make myself clear?!"
Seigen flinched and clenched his teeth.
"I asked you a question and you will answer!" The older member said losing patience, "Do I make myself clear to you Captain Seigen Suzunami!"
"Yes, I hear you," Seigen responded.
"10th Division Captain," Another Central 46 member interjected, "we have answered your questions and with that and since there seems to be nothing else, this discussion is over."
Seigen was silent and he was angry and he looked at all the members of Central 46 with disdain and resentment.
"Very well," Seigen said giving in, "then if you'll excuse me then."
"Yes of course…" One of the members said.
Flashback End
"Bastards!" Seigen cursed in his head, "This system is truly broken," Seigen sighed sadly and shook his head, "And yet I still do nothing and have not found a way to fix this after a year," Seigen had his head down and his fists on his desk, "I'm pathetic."
Nightfall
The students in the academy were heading to their dorms and calling a night and were set to be ready for tomorrow for their lessons and training. Ramza went to his assigned room and went inside. It was there he saw Ladd who was getting ready to relax. Ladd saw Ramza and smiled.
"Hello Ramza," Ladd greeted, "it looks like you and I are roommates."
"It would seem so," Ramza said with smile.
Meanwhile Ovelia was surprised and pleased as her roommate was Agrias.
"It seems that you and I will be sharing the same room," Ovelia said as she was pleased.
"Yes it would seem so," Agrias said with a smile.
Alma and Tietra would be sharing the same room and Rapha and Meliadoul would be sharing the same. Lavian and Alicia would share the same room as would Mustadio and Marach. Isilud would be sharing a different room with someone as would Satsuki as the person she was sharing a room seemed nervous around her. Satsuki hoped that it had nothing to do with her background. Satsuki looked out of the window and smiled and then she went to turn in for the night.
That's it for this chapter. Next chapter: Lectures and training begins.
