It was a sunny morning in Atlantica, and Haley was sleeping soundly in her bed. As she was sleeping, Ariel came into her room, and the red haired mermaid giggled lightly as she swam over to Haley and patted the pink haired mermaid lightly. "Haley, it's time to wake up." She told her.
Haley groaned lightly and stirred in her bed before yawning and stretching, sitting up in her bed. "It's time for breakfast, isn't it?" She asked Ariel.
Ariel nodded. "It is."
"Alright, let's get going then." Haley nodded back as she fixed her pink bobcut hair before swimming towards the dining hall with Ariel, with the two of them soon joining their sisters and King Triton for breakfast. As soon as breakfast was finished, King Triton gave each of his daughters their royal duties for the day. One by one, the princesses swam out of the room to tend to their royal duties. Soon, it was Ariel and Haley's turn.
"Ah, Ariel, Haley. Let me give you two your royal duties for the day. Sebastian has been wanting to practice a new piece of music with the two of you, so that's what you two will be doing. Go meet Sebastian outside in his bandroom, and then spend the day practicing with him." King Triton told Ariel and Haley.
Ariel and Haley nodded. "Yes, father." The two mermaids replied in unison before they proceeded to swim out of the room, heading outside to Sebastian's bandroom.
"Atlantica really likes their music, do they?" Haley asked Ariel as they swam towards Sebastian's bandroom.
Ariel nodded. "We sure do. But there used to be a time when music was banned from Atlantica." She replied, looking at Haley as they swam.
Haley curiously tilted her head. "Why?"
Ariel sighed. "When I was about six years old, my mother, Queen Athena was killed by humans, and my father banned music from Atlantica afterward. Eventually though, music was allowed in Atlantica again, and it's been a valuable part of Atlantica's culture ever since." She explained to Haley.
Haley nodded at that. "I see...I'm sorry for the loss of your mother." She told Ariel, giving the red haired mermaid a sympathetic look.
"It's fine. I was rather young at the time, so it wasn't as difficult for me. It was way more difficult for my father. He developed a deep hatred for humans after they killed my mother, so I can't imagine what he would think, do or say if he found out you're actually a human turned into a mermaid." She told Haley quietly so that no one else would hear.
Haley nodded hesitantly. "Yeah, I can imagine his reaction wouldn't be too pretty..." She admitted, rubbing her left arm with her right hand.
"Yeah, so that's why I think it'd be best to keep that part a secret from him." Ariel replied back. Before long, the two mermaids had arrived in Sebastian's outdoor bandroom, and the red crab gave the two mermaids a smile, acknowledging their arrival.
"Ah, hello, ladies! Glad the two of you could make it to today's band practice!" Sebastian beamed at Ariel and Haley in his thick Calypso accent.
Haley smiled back at Sebastian. "Hello, Sebastian. We're glad we could make it to today's band practice as well." She replied to the red crab.
"Wonderful, wonderful. Now come on, take your positions, and then we shall get around to practicing." Sebastian waved his pinchers to Ariel and Haley's positions, which the two mermaids proceeded to take. They each grabbed their sheet music and got ready for band practice.
"I'm glad that Ariel was able to teach me to read sheet music, because as far as I can remember, I've never had to do anything that required reading sheet music before in my life. Since a lot of the music around here requires reading sheet music, I was happy to gain some experience through Ariel, because if I didn't have that experience, I'd probably get in a lot of trouble with not only Sebastian, but also King Triton." Haley thought to herself before clearing her throat as her, Ariel and the rest of the band, which consisted of a multitude of fish began to sing as other aquatic animals such as octopi, sea turtles amongst others began playing their instruments while Sebastian directed them all. Eventually, the band finished their first practice session, and needless to say, Sebastian was pleased.
"Wonderful, wonderful! Y'all did a great job for this first practice session! Especially you two!" Sebastian beamed, pointing at Ariel and Haley.
Haley smiled at that. "Thank you, Sebastian. If you're happy, then I'm happy too." She replied to the red crab.
Ariel smiled and nodded in agreement. "Indeed. I've done worse during practice and performances, so I appreciate the praise." She chimed in.
"Alright, let's try that once more! Alright, on your marks, get set, an' let's play!" Sebastian said as he began directing the band once more. The band continued to practice throughout the rest of the day, and before long, it was dinner time. Later, after dinner, Ariel and Haley were swimming through the sea to meet with Flounder, since the little fish had found stuff from the surface world that he wanted to show the two mermaids.
"I wonder what stuff from the surface world Flounder has found..." Haley wondered out loud as the two mermaids swam towards the location Flounder had agreed to meet with them.
"Well, whatever it is, I'm sure it will make a nice addition to my collection." Ariel smiled optimistically as the two mermaids continued to swim towards the meeting point, arriving there shortly after.
"I'm glad you two could make it! I found this yesterday and wanted to show you!" Flounder told Ariel and Haley, gesturing towards a treasure chest that was sitting on the sea floor.
"Wow, some of the stuff in that chest isn't my collection yet! Let's get it back to my grotto!" Ariel beamed as she and Haley lifted the treasure chest off the sea floor and began to take it back towards Ariel's grotto.
"This is heavy..." Haley sighed as she and Ariel carried the chest.
"Don't worry about it, Haley. Once we get this back my grotto, it'll all be fine." Ariel assured her before the two mermaids were forced to put the treasure chest down because the waves suddenly got very strong.
"Whoa, the waves got really strong all of a sudden!" Haley exclaimed.
"It must be the doing of Ursula, the evil sea witch!" Ariel remarked.
"Why can't she just leave us alone?" Flounder complained.
"Who's Ursula?" Haley asked Ariel.
"She's a sea witch who used to live in my father's palace but was later banished from there because of her dark magic. She has been an enemy to Atlantica ever since, and has made her home in the remains of a leviathan, where she's said to be plotting her revenge on our city." Ariel explained explained to Haley.
"Yikes...Sounds like an unpleasant individual." Haley remarked with a frown.
"Believe me, she is." Ariel assured her as the strong waves died down again.
"Alright, the waves died down again. Let's get that chest to your grotto as quick as we can." Flounder told Ariel as the two mermaids quickly picked up the treasure chest again and swam away, with Flounder following behind.
The scene then changed to Ursula's home, having watched Ariel and Haley through a globe, cackling to herself. "Those silly children...They think they know everything about me, but they don't. They know that I'm plotting my revenge against Atlantica, but King Triton is in my way of doing that. But perhaps that new pink haired daughter of his will be the key to his undoing..." Ursula cackled once more.
Not too long after the little incident caused by Ursula, Ariel and Haley arrived back at Ariel's grotto, and they put the treasure chest down. "Over here will do." Ariel smiled.
"Yeah, it looks nice here." Haley smiled and nodded in agreement.
"Thanks, Flounder, for finding it." Ariel told her fishy friend with a smile.
Flounder smiled and nodded. "No problem, Ariel. If I find more, I'll let you know." He replied.
"Well, let's get back to the palace now before my father gets worried." Ariel told Haley.
Haley nodded at that. "Yeah, let's get going. We'll see you later, Flounder." She told the little fish.
"Okay, see you later." Flounder nodded back.
The scene then cut to Hawaii, where Haley's parents, Phil and Claire Dunphy were in their hotel room as Claire was pacing back and forth, being very worried about the disappearance of her daughter Haley about a week or so ago.
"Don't worry, honey. I fully believe that Haley is still alive and alright, wherever she is." Phil assured his wife in a soothing tone of voice.
"I know, Phil. I know. I keep trying to tell myself that too, but I still can't help but be worried for Haley's safety. The ocean is a very big and very dangerous place, and anything could happen to someone like Haley out there if she's not careful enough." Claire replied to her husband, looking very worried still as she continued to pace back and forth in the hotel room before hearing a knock on the door, turning towards it.
"Come in!" Claire called to whoever knocked on the door as the person proceeded to enter, revealing themselves to be a member of the US Coast Guard. "Ah, good to see you again. Have you managed to find my daughter yet?" She asked the man.
The man shook his head. "Not yet, Ms. Dunphy. Our divers keep searching with man and might, but still no sign of your daughter. She hasn't exactly left any clues of her whereabouts that could help us track her down." He replied to Claire.
"Well, keep searching. I know that Haley is still out there and that she's alive." Claire told the man.
The man nodded at that. "We will keep trying, Ms. Dunphy. We won't give up until she's found." He assured Claire before closing the door again as Claire proceeded to sit next to Phil on the bed, burying her face in her hands as Phil embraced her to provide her with comfort.
"Oh, Haley...Where are you...?" Claire lightly cried out of concern for her daughter's safety.
