Don't mind me just posting this little one shot here.My brain keep coming up with ideas which I need to write to blow off steam
Basic Premise is what if Anne and her friends were from the "My Hero Academia" universe and each had quirks.
Enjoy
It was a beautiful night in Amphibia. One-Eyed Wally can be seen walking down a dark and beaten path within the woods. He didn't live in the town of Wartwood so this path was common to him, even in the bleak darkness of night. He had decided to eat out for dinner that day at Stumpy's old diner, even when he was supposed to be banned from that place.
"Dobedido, dobedida, I sure hope nothing comes out from these thick bushes and eat me alive!" Wally sang cheerfully, as he walked along the path. Minding his own business, he suddenly heard a growl from off the road. "W-who's there?!" He asked in fear.
The forest responded with the howling wind followed by the rustling of leaves and skittering noise around him. A twig snapped in front him, causing him to turn towards it immediately. "I-I'm warning you! I know Frog-Fu! Well, some of it and I did fail the class but I know some!"
While he was looking off in that particular direction, unbeknownst to him, a dark and threatening figure emerged from behind, gradually growing till it was twice as tall as him. Wally felt a presence and slowly turned to watch as the large figure enveloped him in its shadow.
"N-no! Stay back!" Wally walked backwards, tripping and fell on his butt. The figure, however, did not stop moving and even bared its teeth as it looked at him with a look of hunger.
"Food" the figure said with a growl. In the blink of an eye they suddenly dashed towards Wally who could only scream in terror.
"NoooOOOOO—!"
The Next Day...
The very next day, what appeared to be a town called Wartwood was going through its usual morning. Frogs selling their farmed goods and the occasional kidnapping of random couples by giant dragonflies. So overall, it was a peaceful way to start the day...for them at least
Hopadiah Plantar, aka "Hop Pop", strolled into town from his little homestead on a cart, pulled by the Plantar family's one and only snail Bessie. Inside that, two younglings hopped around in excitement. With a whip of his leash, Bessie slowed down and with her, the wooden cart. "Woah there, Bessie! Hehe, chipper today, aren't cha?"
Hop Pop turned around to face the two kids sitting in the cart, an energetic young frog named Sprig Plantar and his younger sister, the polliwog Polly Plantar. "Alright you two, I'll be back with the groceries in a few minutes. You watch the cart until I come back. Don't get into trouble, ya hear?"
"You got it, Hop Pop!" Sprig replied enthusiastically. "I'll defend this cart with my life."
Hop Pop stared at Sprig. "Uh-huh... Polly, make sure Sprig doesn't get into trouble."
"Roger, Hop Pop!" Polly answered, to which Sprig exclaimed in surprise, "What?! But Hop Pop! I'm the older brother!"
"We both know Polly's got more responsibility in her little flipper than you have in your entire body!"
"What?!" Sprig objected. "What even makes you think I'm irresponsible?!"
"Oh gee, let me think." Hop Pop said, sarcasm dripping from his words. "Was it the time you added exploding cherry seeds into the gumbo? Or maybe the time you wrestled a worm cow into my bedroom? Oh, I know! Maybe it's time you left the lights on, and nearly got the house torn down by a pair of fireflies?!"
"Okay, so yesterday was a bad day but I can be responsible!"
"Hm hmm, I'll believe that when I see it. Until then," Hop Pop jumped off the cart, "Polly, make sure Sprig stays in the cart." He then walked into the store and greeted the proprietor of the establishment.
Sprig sighed sadly. "Wish there was a way to prove I'm not such a goof-up..."
As if the great Axolotl had been listening to that day, his pleas were answered. Wally's scream was heard from the thick groves and as expected, the one-eyed frog burst out of the bushes and into the clearing, screaming for dear life.
"MONSTER!" Wally cried out." THERE'S A MONSTER IN THE WOODS! I SEEN IT! I SEEN IT!"
As Wally continued his panicked spiel, a crowd slowly formed around him, listening to his every word. Loud murmurs were heard and exchanged between the townsfolk, forcing Mayor Toadstool ,the town's mayor, to intervene. "Now now, calm down, Wally. Just tell us what you saw."
Wally explained the monster's features using any nearby twigs, roots and leaves. Just as he finished describing it, emphasizing on its weird face bump, the crowd gasped in fear and surprise. The mayor, listening fully, took the initiative and spoke up. "Well then, we better catch this beast before it hurts somebody. Because for Mayor Toadstool, your safety comes first."
Everyone clapped their little froggy hands at the political response, with Wally even saying how responsible that would be. Of course, everyone also agreed. This was a huge and scary monster in the woods after all. What shouldn't they do? Leave it alone to act on its natural base instincts? That would be very irresponsible.
Which is why Sprig wanted in on it. It's The perfect chance to show Hop Pop how responsible he is!
"Polly, I know what I'm gonna do today. I am going to catch that beast and save the town!" He exclaimed out loud. Just as he was about to leave the cart to go on a suicidal quest, Polly stopped him in his tracks. "Stop right there! Hop Pop said you have to stay in the cart!"
Polly flexed her tiny flipper muscles. "You know you can't take me."
Sprig grunts in response before an idea came to him. He then, dug into his pocket and pulled out what appeared to be candies. "Oo oo, look Polly! Candy!" he said before dropping it onto the cart
Polly gasped in surprise and without hesitation yelled "Bribe accepted!" before devouring the candies hungrily
"Let the monster hunt begin!" Sprig said excitedly before running into the forest to hunt down the "beast"
"Don't die!
Sprig hopped around the woods as if it was his own backyard. He easily navigated through, looking for clues of the beast's whereabouts. Spotting something on the ground, he jumped off the branches and landed on the dirt, finding himself looking at a weird and unidentified footprint
"Seems like the beast roams these parts. Probably a good place for a tra-aaAAAAHHH!" Sprig screamed when he found himself suddenly caught in a rope trap which flings him into the air before falling back down leaving him hanging upside down as he groans in pain
Just then Sprig heard a rustling sound from a nearby bush before what Sprig immediately recognized as the "Beast" stepped out and looked at him with a neutral expression as she held-A red giant mantis arm?! in one hand.
"THE BEEEEAASST!" Sprig screamed in horror which seemed to cause the beast to wince in response causing them to drop the mantis arm they were holding.
Holy frog! Did this beast somehow managed to kill a red mantis!? Sprig thought while eyeing the dropped mantis arm
The beast then took a step closer and opened their mouth to say something but was cut off by Sprig who was beginning to panic "If you're gonna eat me I have bad news for you, beast! I taste terrible!"
The beast only raised a brow in response to his brave statement.
What followed next was an awkward scene of the young frog and the beast looking at each other without saying anything.
Sprig was the one to break the awkward silence "So...just to be sure you're the beast right?" he asks awkwardly which only caused the beast to tilt their head at him with a look of either confusion or offense...maybe both.
The beast once again opened their mouth to talk but was once again cut off. This time by the sound of a monstrous roar followed by the sound of trees falling down. Just then a giant red mantis appeared with a look of rage on its face as its gaze landed on both the beast and Sprig
The beast jumped in surprise at this.
"Red Mantis!!!" Sprig yelled but is interrupted by the beast suddenly freeing him from the rope before grabbing him and running away from the monster.
As the beast ran through the forest they spotted a log which they quickly ducked under through the opening. The monster thankfully fails to notice them as it passes by which earned a sigh of relief from both Sprig and the beast who then drops the young frog.
"You... you saved me!" Sprig said with a shocked look before suddenly grinning widely "You're not a beast at all! You're a hero! An ugly, ugly, ugly hero!"
Upon hearing the ugly remark the beast narrowed their eyes at Sprig who took it as a sign that they may have been offended by the ugly remark.
"Sorry" he said sheepishly before asking "If you don't mind me asking, you got a name, be- er stranger?" he wasn't entirely sure if this beast can talk but there's no harm in asking
The beast got a thoughtful look at this before dragged their finger across the ground seemingly writing something. When they were done Sprig was able to read out that their name was "Anne"
"Anne huh? That's a nice name. My name is Sprig! Put er there!" Sprig said while holding out his hand for a handshake to which the beast now known as Anne accepted.
Sprig was about to ask Anne a question, a loud grumbling came from the latter. Looking down, the two found themselves staring at Anne's rumbling stomach, pleading for sustenance. Anne blushed, seemingly embarrassed by the sound.
"Oh! You must be hungry! Follow me I know some great snacks in this forest!"
Anne watched as Sprig peeks out of the log and seeing that the monster was nowhere to be found quickly jumped out. The girl hesitated for a moment before following suit not noticing the shoe that she left behind
Meanwhile Back in Wartwood...Hop Pop returned to the cart, grocery supplies on hand. On his way, he noticed a sizeable mob at the edge of town. Said mob were wielding pitchforks and torches, and were yelling about a monster in the woods.
"Another week, another mob. Hehehe..." Hop Pop laughed by himself as he loaded the supplies into the back of the cart. He then climbed up to the driver's seat, shuffling and getting comfortable.
"Alright, kids. Time to head back. I hope nothing interesting happened while I was gone, hehehe..." Hop Pop said sarcastically as he turned to look at his grandkids. Or in this case, grandkid. The sound of shattered glass erupted from Hop Pop's bulging eyes when he realized that 1. Sprig was not in the cart and 2. Polly was covered in candy, looking horrible.
Polly belched. Hop Pop frantically jumped to the back of the cart and grabbed Polly's weakened tadpole body. "Polly, where's Sprig?!"
"Uh... something-something monster, something-something woods." Polly replied nonchalantly which only caused Hop Pop to have a look of horror. He then picked up Polly before yelling
"Hang in there boy! Hop Pop's a-comin'!" as he ran through the mob and into the woods. The mob watched as he disappeared into the bushes with Polly, and in a moment of pure genius, Wally also screamed. "LET'S GO GET THAT BEAST!"
Everyone cheered and ran into the woods, following Hop Pop like the mob they were.
Back with Sprig and Anne...
Sprig had collected an assortment of bugs, mushrooms and roots into a pile, and dumped them all out onto the ground. "Here you go! I don't really know what you prefer to eat, so I got everything."
For a moment Anne only stared at the food with a neutral expression. Sprig was about to ask if she didn't like eat before all of a sudden Anne started devouring the food like a ravenous animal that hasn't eaten in forever. Once she was done there was literally nothing left. Not even the non edible ones that Sprig accidentally mixed into the pile
"Woah. You must have been pretty hungry!" Sprig said in awe "By the way if you don't mind me asking, WHERE DID YOU COME FROM?! I've never seen a creature like you before!"
Anne was briefly taken back by the question(mostly due to how abrupt it was) before reaching into her backpack and pulling out what appeared to be a notepad and a pencil. She then wrote out her answer on the paper which explained that she is from another world or perhaps this was all a dream. Either way Sprig was amazed by it
"Woooowww!" Sprig awed. "Do you know how you got here?"
Anne shook her head and wrote down her response. "Nope. One minute, I was in my world and the next thing I knew I was here. I don't know how to get homeor if I even can go home. So, Yup, that's my story. How 'bout you? What were you doing in the woods?"
"Proving that I'm responsible!"
"Oh yeah? How?" Anne wrote on the paper
Sprig blinked. "Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh-"
Before Sprig could process an answer, Wally the One-Eyed frog appeared from the bushes and yelled, "THERE THEY ARE!"
Anne barely had time to react before the mob jumped on her, wrapping her tightly behind layers of rope and even gagged her mouth. Anne futilely tried to break free but the rope was too durable.
Sprig, no longer stunned, jumped in. "Wait, no! You guys got it all wrong! She is!-"
"A monster!" Mayor Toadstool interrupted. "And this little boy here led her right to us! A proud citizen of Wartwood, led by me, Mayor Toadstool."
"That's not what I was going to say! Guys, just listen-!" Once more, Sprig was interrupted. Though this time by Hop Pop. "SPRIG! THANK GOODNESS YOU'RE SAFE!"
Hop Pop looked at Anne continued to try and break free. "Sprig, get back! I don't want you to get close to it!"
Anne turned to Sprig, feeling betrayed. She could only give her a dirty look while attempting to bare her teeth.
Sprig was about to protest, he was interrupted by a giant green mantis of all things. The mantis proceeded to screech, scaring the mob in surprise. "Hurry! Everyone! Mantis formation!" Mayor Toadstool quickly yelled, causing the townsfolk to break out of their surprise and climbed on top of one another, forming a frog pyramid that vaguely resembles the mantis.
The mantis looked at the frogs and moved back, feeling intimidated by the form. All of the mob cheered with one of them even proudly saying that they scared off the mantis, only to be cut off, by an even larger red man-eating mantis which Sprig recognized as the one that was chasing him and Anne earlier
"Nope. that scared it off" Polly commented.
"Yeah, that makes more sense" Hop Pop said.
The red mantis then let out a mighty roar before striking the villagers and breaking apart their formation.
"Its gonna eat our guts!" One of the villagers yelled
Anne, being so close to the large insectoid and currently tied up, was downright terrified due to her being too restrained to fight back or even use her quirk.
Just then she felt her restraints loosen, she looked front and saw that Sprig untying her ropes much to her surprise
Finishing up, he stood up and took out his old slingshot from his pocket. "I'll distract that thing. You get out of here!" With said final words, he ran off towards the mantis with a war cry which unfortunately did little to even intimidate the creature.
Sprig launched a rock into the mantis' eye, flinching it. "Aha!... Oops."
The mantis retaliated with a swing of its forelegs at Sprig, too shocked to dodge and instead closed his eyes and brace for the incoming blow which for some reason never came.
Crunch!!!
Sprig opened his eyes and was shocked by the sight of Anne who had the severed arm of the mantis in her mouth before swallowing it like it was nothing. He looked back at the mantis which was now missing an arm and was screeching in pain.
Anne watched the beast squirm in pain and licked her lip hungrily. For the first time she spoke. "Food...Yum" and without wasting a second dashed towards the mantis at an inhumane speed and in the blink of an eye severed the mantis other arm with her mouth and swallowed it just as fast as she did with the other one.
The mantis once again tried to retaliate but never got the chance as Anne dashed towards its head and like the the arm severed it clean off before swallowing it as if it was just some crackers.
With the most vital part of its body gone, the mantis body fell down to its side with a loud thump. The ground quaked underneath its weight for second and suddenly, everything got quiet.
The townsfolk that ran off, turned to see the mantis(or what was even left of it), dead on the ground. Realization washed over them quickly and Mayor Toadstool cheered, "They did it! It's dead!", followed by everyone else.
"Wow! That was amazing Anne!" Sprig exclaimed triumphantly. Anne smiled at the scene before burping
"Up top!" Sprig said offering a high five. Anne hesitated for a moment before accepting
Mayor Toadstool, now sure of his safety, walked up towards the duo with a crowd behind him. "Well, now that's settled, what the heck we gonna do with this thing? Maybe we oughta run it out of town. Just to be safe." he said while gesturingto Anne who had some of the mantis blood splattered on her
"Let it be someone else's problem." He muttered. The crowd, now once again an angry mob, pulled out their pitchforks and torches and charged towards Anne. She stepped back, no sure exactly how to defuse the situation. It made her wish her friends were here.
Immediately after, Sprig barged in between the mob and Anne, stopping the former dead on their tracks. "Stop right there!" He shouted. "She's not a monster. She's just lost and needs our help. We should take care of her."
Anne looked at Sprig, a little frog boy whom she just met about less than an hour ago and yet was willing to stand up for her. A smile crept unknowingly onto her face, as she felt grateful for him standing up for her. the only people who ever did that were her parents and her friends
Of course, the moment was ruined instantly after when Mayor Toadstool objected. "Are you crazy?!"
"Yeah, what if it goes nutty tomorrow and starts eating people?" Wally added having witnessed Anne ravenously devour the mantis like mud people eating tadpoles. Anne shook her head in response
Despite this , some murmurs were heard from the back regarding that possible risk. However, Hop Pop stood forward, causing them all to quiet down. He voiced out, "Don't worry yourself silly. I'll keep an eye on 'em. Both of them."
Mayor Toadstool took his time and thought it through. While he would have preferred to run her out of town, Hop Pop did live far away enough from Wartwood that when this 'Anne' does go crazy, at least he'd have enough time to hide all his embezzlements and run away for a bit.
"Alright, suit yourself, Hopadiah Plantar. But I don't like one bit. If she eats one of us, it's on you. Alright boys pack it in"
Anne just gave a sheepish smile
Mayor Toadstool ignored this. "Alright folks. Let's go have ourselves a celebration!" The folks cheered in delight and thus, the day ended with no further crazy accidents. One of them pulled what remained of the the mantis Anne took down back to town, where it would be Wartwood's special dish for tonight.
"Boo. This thing tastes real good with butter" one of three villagers commented
Once all that was out the way, Polly took the opportunity to speak up. "So... Now what?"
Later...
After Sprig explained Anne's situation and Hop Pop giving him a lecture about responsibility, Anne was invited to live with the Plantars back at their homestead. Not wanting to stay in the woods any longer than Anne of course, accepted immediately. Fortunately for her, their basement was spacious enough that she can stay there for the time being. It wasn't the best but at this point, she was willing to take what she can get.
"All righty. Kitchen's upstairs. Breakfast at sunrise, sharp."
Anne gave a thumbs up before, watching Hop Pop leave the room. She inspected her new 'room' for a bit; A few boxes here and there, a furnace for heating, some pipes which was weird to have in a house like this, the lights here are provided via mushrooms. She hummed in content.
She placed her sleeping mat on the floor, somewhere comfortable which was in a corner. A knock came from behind and turning around, she saw Sprig came in with a bunch of old plushies at hand. "Hey there, getting comfy? Brought some toys to keep you company. They're not your friends but hey, they're super adorable."
Anne smiled.
"Yeah, I'm too old for them anyway... Well, except for this one, and maybe also this one..." Sprig continued, taking back every single toy he brought here with him. With all toys in his arms, Sprig grinned. "Hey, Anne? I'm glad you're staying with us. We don't have much but you can always count on us Plantars, even if you're not very talkative and eat like a monster."
Anne smiled in response
"Well," Sprig climbed the ladder. "Goodnight!" He finished before adding a comment about bed hugs being able to drain a body in seconds
After being sure that no one was watching, she zipped open her bag and from it, pulled out a weird bejewelled chest wrapped in some cloth. With one hand on the bottom and another on top, Anne slowly opened the box, expecting some flashing lights and which can hopefully take her home but unfortunately nothing. happened. She sighed, disappointed.
Unrolling the mat, she packed the chest back into her bag and placed it next to her. Lying down, the room naturally turned dark with a tap of a mushroom, leaving only the moonlight to illuminate the area. She closed her eyes and thought about her friends whom she hoped was doing fine before she let sleep overtake her
Anne Boonchuy - Quirk: Food.
Food allows Anne to bite, chew, and digest anything that they are able to come into direct contact with. Anne is able to chew through objects with ease, and her targets do not seem to put up much resistance, whatsoever.
So anyways what did you think? Depending on if I get into the mood. This one shot may become part of a one shot series where human characters from certain shows have quirks due to being from the My hero Academia Universe.
The shows on my list are:
Gravity Falls
Star Vs. the forces of Evil
Owl House
Amphibia
I have thought out the quirks of some of the human characters though if you happen to have suggestions I'm all ears. Though I prefer it if the quirks are from the Anime and Manga of My Hero Academia.
Anyways see you next time.
