JeepTortilla: Don't worry, this is likely going to be the last chapter that's excessively canonized.
"The two boys are certainly formidable." Kycilia said as Gihren laid another black piece on his virtual game board. "I pressed and tested them multiple times, going as far as cuffing Casval. But not only were they unafraid, the Ral boy was actually going to shoot me! They may only be eleven, like our Garma, but they have guts."
She paused, looking at Gihren before continuing, "If you want to establish a one-thousand-year Zabi Dynasty, you need to deal with them."
"That almost sounds like an order Kycilia." Gihren said offhandedly,
"I wouldn't dream of it." Kycilia said sarcastically, "I was just hoping to correct my prior mistake. With Sasro gone-"
"I should leave the scheming to you?" Gihren scoffed, "Don't make me laugh. Instead of plotting, why don't you pray for the immortal repose of Sasro's soul?"
Kycilia tch'ed, but said nothing, and walked away.
Ramba Ral crashed through the gate with his Armored Vehicle, "What the hell is this?!" He leapt out of the car. "What happened to our security?!"
As he entered he saw more signs of chaos, this place had obviously been looted. "Hmph! Everyone left when they saw which way the wind was blowing."
"Mr. Ral!" A lady in a gray suit and glasses walked up to him, "A message for you." She handed him a paper,
"Astraia sent to the tower...family together for tonight only...must act now?" He crumpled the paper, "Who sent this?"
The lady took off her glasses, "Shall I take care of this?"
"Hamon?" Ramba's shoulders slumped in relief, "This is a horrible prank."
"Sadly I wish it was a prank. Astraia has been placed under strict house arrest, so getting her out is impossible."
"What about our children?"
"Rosarie and Adrian? I've spoken to the Sahalin Family, they'll be taken in by them as Rose Sahalin and Ryan Sahalin."
Ramba sighed in relief, "That's good. What are the chances the Zabi family will leave the children alone and let them grow up to take power?"
"Three-hundred against." Hamon said simply,
"I thought so." He leaned in, "But they can be smuggled out right? Can you get Casval and Artesia to the docking bay, and Rosarie and Adrian to the Sahalin Family?"
"No need to worry, I can deliver them all in one swoop."
Ramba Ral looked upon his two children sadly, 'This may be the final time I see them…' He realizes. "Adrian...Rosary...I need to tell you two something." He kneeled down, "You're going to need to go away, for a long time. And neither me or your mother can be with you."
"W-wha?" Rosary instantly began to tear up, "But you can't!" She burst into tears, Adrian looked away, a lump in his throat.
"Don't worry. You'll stay with the Sahalin Family. You know them."
"I don't want to stay with the Sahalins! I want to be with you!"
Hamon walked over, "Hey, I'll tell you what." She looked directly into Rosary's eyes. "If you're a good girl, Father and I will return in eleven christmases."
"Eleven? That's too long!" Rosary cried,
"But you're a patient girl. Good girls are patient, you know."
She sniffed, and nodded. "That's good. Now follow me, I'll take you to the Sadalins."
The next day, a Guntank pulled up to the Deikun Tower,
"I am here to take custody of the orphaned children of Zeon Zum Deikun as part of a special mission for the Federation Munzo Garrison Force! Hand them over immediately!"
"Federation Forces?"
"I wasn't informed?"
"Are you refusing an order?! I'll have you court-martialed-"
"Hold on! Hold on! W-we're getting them now!" The nervous Munzo soldiers quickly hustled Casval and Artesia out.
"You're Casval and Artesia Rem Deikun correct? I'm here for you." She said as they nervously approached,
Casval spoke first, "Are you…"
"Good. Your mother has explained. I'm Crowley Hamon. Quick, climb on."
As the Guntank left the estate, Casval and Artesia climbed into the upper cockpit, where Rosary and Adrian had already crowded in. Adrian helped Casval up, the cockpit was tense, with neither party saying anything before settling.
Hamon came up several seconds later with a bag, "Alright you four, get changed into these."
The Guntank barrelled down the open streets of Munzo, crushing several cars and small vehicles underfoot.
The quartet jostled around as the Guntank moved through all the obstacles, the sharp corners and turns.
Meanwhile, several traffic jams, construction sites, and car crashes (courtesy of the Rals) were giving Federation forces quite a difficult time getting to the Guntank.
Unfortunately, luck runs out all too soon as a group of Guntanks advanced on the lone rogue. Rosary closed her eyes, and Casval's face went tense.
"Destroy them! Do that and I will double what I'm paying you!"
"We can't win!" The driver wailed, "There's four of them to one of us!"
Hamon kicked the driver out of the seat, "Weakling! Step aside!" Taking the controls she growled as she locked on to the first RTX-65.
"What are those?" Artesia asked with fear.
"The enemy." Adrian hissed,
"That's right." Casval agreed, "My enemy. Mother's enemy. Everyone's enemy!" Suddenly, something began to beep in the right hand console and Casval pressed a flashing button, bringing out a weapons console.
"Hold on." Adrian looked over it, "I think I've seen this somewhere!"
"Good! Tell me what to do!" Casval said suddenly,
"I said I think!" Adrian looked at the console, "Erm...grab the black stick! Then once the crosses align click the red button!"
Casval carried these orders out to the letter, click, Nothing happened,
"What's wrong?!" Casval said, "Why isn't it shooting?"
"Er, I don't know?!"
Crowley flipped a switch below, "Safeties disengaged…"
"Wait! Don't! Keep your money! if you fire we'll get the axe for sure!"
"Shut the hell up and quit bothering me!"
A message came across the screen, saying:
Safeties Off. Weapon Ready.
Adrian sighed, "Maybe try it now!"
Casval clicked, and this time, the cockpit shuddered as the main cannons fired, the shells slamming into the first Guntank, taking it's head clean off and causing it to explode.
The other Guntanks broke into panic, "I-It fired!"
"Return fire! Q-Quickly!"
The crosshairs realigned, locking onto the second Guntank. The shells detonated in it's chest, blowing it completely apart.
"S-Stop firing!" The driver screamed,
"I-It isn't me!" Hamon said, feeling some of the same panic herself. "W-Wait. A-Adrian?!"
"How does this thing go forward?!"
"I-I think it's one of the pedals!" Adrian yelped,
Casval nodded, stepping on one of the pedals and causing the Guntank to rocket forward. He swerved the joystick, rapidly moving the tank left and right and dodging bullets as well as shells before firing upon the third Guntank, destroying it.
Rosarie closed her eyes, and shut out the world around her...
And then Artesia screamed as Casval shot the final Guntank. "Stop! Casval!"
Casval snapped out of it, the weight of what he'd done fully coming on his shoulders. Artesia clutched her brother as Adrian slumped to the side of the cockpit,
'Those were manned...those were manned….' Was the only thought going through his mind. He'd helped kill people, that was undeniable.
"Rogue One proceeding down 7th Avenue! It will reach the blockade line soon! Prepare to destroy it!"
"Yes sir!"
The damaged Guntank rolled down the street towards the blockade line. "Alright you four. This smoke should cover our escape. Lets go!" She helped Artesia and Rosary as Adrian and Casval climbed out of the hatch.
"Hold on!" One of the paid-off federation pilots said, "Wait for us!"
"Take us too!" Said the driver.
Hamon ignored them, "The controls are on auto so it should go straight ahead and act as a decoy." They reached the back, Hamon, Casval, and Adrian jumped off first, followed by Artesia, Lucifer, and Rosary.
"Distance, 2000 meters!"
"Rogue 1 still hasn't responded to our orders to halt!"
The Type 61 Tanks moved into position, backed by the RTX-65 Guntanks.
"Fire!" Shouted a Federation officer, and hundreds of shells and bullets simultaneously slammed into the battered Guntank, causing it to explode instantly.
Ramba Ral swerved through a side-street and onto 6th Avenue, where the exhausted but alive group of fugitives was waiting.
"Hey! Taxii!" Hamon called jokingly, and Ramba pulled up beside her,
He rolled down the window, "Where are you headed Miss?"
The first stop was a private dropping off point where Ramba Ral would meet representatives of the Sahalin Family. Pulling up beside an inconspicuous SUV, Adrian gave both of his parents one final hug, and looked at Casval, who nodded and offered his hand. Adrian took it, and shook it before approaching the SUV.
"Adrian Ral Hamon and Rosary Ral Hamon?" A lady with tinted black glasses emerged from the SUV, "I'm Yavena Rei, and I'll be taking you to the Sahalin Family."
As Adrian left Munzo, he looked out the window of the Sahalins' private ship. 'Wow...so I really am leaving.' It was funny, after all this time and effort, he still couldn't believe that he was actually leaving for Achilles.
It wasn't like the Sahalin Family were strangers. In fact, quite the opposite, Adrian and Aina Sahalin were close friends, and Erena Sahalin was practically an aunt to Rosary and Adrian.
He looked out the window, 'Goodbye, Munzo.'
