Chapter One: Christmas Time in Adventure Bay

A lightly cloudy sky hung over Adventure Bay just as snow started to fall to the ground below. It wasn't the sign of a blizzard, but a much more merry time.

(Cue Christmas Is by Francesca Battistelli)

Francesca Battistelli: Christmas is music and family in town

Christmas is Snoopy and Charlie Brown

It's anticipating that snow's gonna fall

And praying for someplace to park at the mall

The entire town was hustling and bustling as people were walking around as Christmas time was coming around. Lots of people were either decorating, shopping, singing and other stuff.

Francesca Battistelli: It's mom going crazy cause the turkey go burned

It's saying thanks for some gift you'll return

Christmas is caroling kids at your door

It's paper and ribbon all over the floor

Over at Mr. Porter's, Alex was setting out what appeared to Christmas themed napkins and place mats. Mr. Porter himself was tending to a delivery truck and brought some food items into his shop.

Francesca Battistelli: Christmas is coming, Christmas is near

I've been counting down the days all year

Christmas is almost here

Katie was currently painting the windows with decorative paint while Callie was inside playing with a Christmas ornament. Katie looked into window and laughed with how adorably silly her cat was being.

Francesca Battistelli: Christmas is rooftops covered in lights

It's away in a manger, it's a wonderful life

Cap'n Turbot and Wally were on the deck of the former's boat and were decorating it by hanging up a few wreaths on the door. The boat lightly shook when Walinda joined them on the deck. She moved over to Wally and glanced up. Wally looked to and was surprised to see some mistletoe hanging on a wire of lights. Walinda smiled and granted her beloved with a small peck on the cheek.

Francesca Battistelli: Christmas is caring for those who got nothing

It's dropping your change in the bell ringer's bucket

City Hall was full activity as well as some men were setting up a large Christmas tree where the tulips usually sit. Mayor Goodway stood to the side and directed the men by telling them how she would like it set up. When the tree stood straight in the spot and was secure they all took a step back to admire their work. Mayor Goodway then gestured for some others to bring forth a few Christmas decorations.

Even Daring Danny X was helping out as he sped past on his bike. Christmas lights were being unwound from his bike while going down the street. When it ended, a man grabbed the end before raising the wire and securing the end to a post.

Francesca Battistelli: Christmas is all of these fun things for sure

But, Christmas is really, oh so much more

It's good news of hope for the whole world because

Christmas is Jesus!

Snow plows went down the more traveled roads and cleared the snow on the road as they went by. As they were walking through Adventure Bay, Mayor Humdinger of Foggy Bottom and his kittens gasped when a snow plow zoomed by and ended up covering them in snow. All seven of their heads popped out of the snow and looked to the plow with glares as it drove away.

Up on Jake's Mountain, both Jake and Everest were placing a few Christmas decorations up on a few of the cabins.

Even the Lookout was looking pretty festive as the paw print logo was made to look more Christmas. While the background was still red, the paw itself was green. There were red, green and white flashing lights coming from the top of the Lookout. A small wreath was decorated on each of the Pup Houses.

(End of song)

Over at the door of the Lookout, Skye, a Cockapoo wearing a collar with a plane propeller on the tag, and Ryder were standing by a box of lights. Ryder took out his Pup Pad and said, "Okay, we've got the Christmas lights out and now all we need is the Christmas tree."

"Hopefully the guys will be back with it soon." Skye said and looked out past Adventure Bay. Ryder agreed with her, but wasn't too worried when he said, "It'll be okay. Goku's with them."

"Do you think he's going to like Christmas?" Skye asked when she looked up to him. Ryder could only shrug and say, "I'm not sure. I don't know what kind of traditions or holidays Goku has back on his Earth. But that doesn't mean that he can't join in on ours."

"You're right, Ryder." Skye nodded in agreement.

Out in the forest just a little outside of Adventure Bay, Goku, Chase, Marshall, Rocky, Zuma and Rubble were all walking along a path. Goku, a Saiyan wearing a blue winter coat over his usual orange Gi and blue sweat shirt, had his hands behind his head as he walked. Chase, a German Shepherd wearing a blue collar with a yellow star on his tag, Marshall, a Dalmatian wearing a red collar with a fire symbol on his tag and Rubble, a Bulldog wearing a yellow collar with a construction symbol on the tag stood on the Saiyan's left while Rocky, a mixed-breed with a green collar with a Recycling symbol on the tag and Zuma, a Chocolate Labrador with a blue collar with an anchor on the tag were on his right. Chase and Rubble were the only ones to be wearing their Pup Packs and helmet and hats in the group. Goku looked down to the Pups and asked, "So, why exactly are we out here again?"

"To find us a tree, silly." Rubble said with a laugh. Goku nodded and said, "Yeah, I remember you saying that you needed a tree. But exactly did you need one?"

"Because it's almost Chwistmas, dude." Zuma said while Chase and Rocky looked about for the right tree. It didn't exactly help clear the concept to Goku as he still looked a little confused. Marshall happened to look and see that their friend still didn't understand what was going on and asked, "Goku, don't you know what a holiday is?"

"It's something you celebrate, right?" Goku asked. Then he glanced back to town and asked, "That's also why all the people back in town are putting up all that stuff too."

"That's right." Chase nodded and stopped. The others stopped as well as the German Shepherd pointed with his paw and asked, "How about that one?"

They all looked to see a pretty tall Christmas tree. It wasn't as big as the tree in town, but it was a lot taller than most of the other trees. They all walked up to the tree and looked up to the top. Goku then asked, "So… What do we do now?"

"Well, before we chop it down, we better make sure that it isn't home to some critters or birds." Rocky said as they looked over the tree. Zuma looked to the Saiyan and asked, "Can you sense anything, Goku?"

"No, nothing on my end." Goku shook his head. Rubble then suggested, "Try shaking the tree just a little."

"Okay." Goku said before lightly shaking the tree a little. Nothing came scurrying or flying out in a panic so they knew that this tree was good. Goku then asked, "Do you want me to chop the tree down?"

"Well, we don't have an axe and we need to be careful." Rocky advised. Goku waved it off and said, "Don't worry. It's not the first tree that I've brought down."

"Wait, let me use my net to keep the branches out of the way." Chase said and they all backed up. Glancing to his Pup Pack the German Shepherd barked, "Ruff! Net!"

The Pup Pack opened up and the net launcher extended itself. The net was fired and wrapped around the branches. Goku gently pulled on it to make sure it was secure. When he was sure that it was, Goku looked to the five and said, "Okay. Here I go."

All five Pups looked to each other as Goku raised his hand and held it at the ready. He waited a moment before coming down and cleaved through it from one side to another in a perfect horizontal slice. The tree started falling down with a creak and Goku was able to catch it on his shoulder. Looking to the Pups he asked, "Now what?"

"Now, I dig up the stump so we'll know where to tell the tree farmers to plant the sprout." Rubble said before barking to extend his shovel. They all watched as the Bulldog started digging around the tree stump. Goku looked to the other four and said, "I didn't know that you could farm trees."

"It's a process that takes a while, but it's really popular to do around this time of year." Rocky said with a nod. Zuma was really excited and said, "And luckily for us, Wyder sent enough cash with us fow this one."

"Almost got it." Rubble said as he was using his shovel to lift the stump from the ground. It was a little difficult with some of the roots still deep within the ground, but it soon gave way to the tugging and popped out of the hole with a snap. All the Pups started howling for a job well done. Chase seemed really excited when he said, "Now, com on. Let's get this tree back to the Lookout."

Hoisting the tree onto his shoulder, Goku and the Pups started walking back the way they came. But as they walked, Goku wanted to know a little more and asked, "So, what exactly is this holiday for again?"

"Basically, it's mostly to spend time with the people that you care about." Rocky tried to explain. He listed what was usually done during Christmas, "You get together with friends and family, sing carols…"

"Eat lots of yummy foods." Rubble said and both his Goku's mouths started to water from the thought. Zuma took over by saying, "And the best pawt is, on Chwistmas mowning you exchange gifts!"

"Okay." Goku nodded as he was somewhat getting it. Then he asked, "So, what's the deal with man in the red suit?"

"Oh, you mean Santa?" Marshall asked before explaining, "He's a guy who comes around once a year to deliver presents to good kids during Christmas."

"How does he do that?" Goku asked. Rubble then said, "By coming down a chimney or through some other magical way."

"Wait, does this guy just sneak into people's houses and leave gifts? Kind of sounds odd to me." Goku asked, getting the wrong message. Zuma saw that Goku was looking a little worried for the wrong reasons and said, "Don't wowwy, Goku. Santa is a good guy. He wouldn't do anything bad."

"Huh, if you say so." Goku said, deciding to trust them on their beliefs about Santa. The six continued down the road to buy the tree.

It wasn't too much longer when Goku and the boy Pups returned the Lookout. Skye was sitting at the door when she saw them walking up. A smile formed on her face and she backed, "They're back, Ryder."

"Thanks, Skye." Her owner said and came walking out of the Lookout. Picking up the box of Christmas lights he and Skye walked over to join the others. Goku looked to Ryder and asked, "So, where exactly do you want me to put this, Ryder?"

"Just follow us, Goku. We'll show you the way." Ryder said as they all walked across the lawn. They came to a spot not too far from the Lookout and Ryder said, "Okay, right here."

Goku placed the tree on the ground and Ryder set the box of Christmas lights on the ground. Ryder was able to untangle the net from the tree and the branches popped loose again. Goku then asked, "So, how exactly is this tree supposed to fit into this whole Christmas thing?"

"Well, first, we need the tree stand to keep it from falling over." Ryder said while Rubble went to go find it. Goku shrugged and said, "I guess I could have taken the tree, roots and all, huh?"

"No worries, Goku." Ryder shook his head. Looking to the tree he had a smile, "The tree is perfect."

"And a perfect tree needs a perfect stand." Rocky said as Rubble returned with a bowl with legs sticking out of the side in his mouth. Chase and Marshall moved to help the Bulldog by grabbing a leg each and moving with Rubble. Zuma motioned to Goku to lift the tree a little bit and the Saiyan complied. When the three had moved the tree stand in the right spot, they moved out of the way when Goku placed the tree into the tree stand's slot. Ryder kneeled down and was able to stabilize the tree to where it wouldn't fall over.

"Okay, now that the tree is all set up, now all that's left is to decorate it." Ryder said and gestured to the box. Each of the Pups seemed excited when Skye said, "But remember, we need to save a few for Wild Cat when he gets here."

"Oh, yeah. I nearly forgot that he was coming back to Adventure Bay for Christmas." Rubble remembered. Rocky nodded, "It was nice of his manager to let him take some time off for the holidays."

"Yeah, it's going to be great seeing him again." Goku agreed with a grin.

But the sound of a revving engine made them all look to the driveway. Looking to the bridge, they all saw a shape zooming across to the Lookout. Everyone became more excited when Zuma said, "Looks like Wild Cat is hewe alweady!"

"Let's go meet with him." Chase said and all six Pups ran to meet their friend. Goku and Ryder both laughed before following after them.

The Pups reached the driveway just as a grey motorcycle pulled up with a stop. Sitting on the seat of the motor bike was a feline wearing a white helmet with a red stripe running past the ears. The cat removed the helmet and revealed a white cat with patches of light orange fur on his head and ears. Sitting on the cat's head was an orange Mohawk. He smiled when he saw the Pups and said, "Hi, guys!"

"Wild Cat!" All six Pups greeted with smiles. Wild Cat jumped down from his bike and saw Goku and Ryder approaching the group. The motorist feline smiled and ran to them to greet them. When he reached them the little cat started rubbing up against both Goku and Ryder's legs with the latter saying, "It's good to see you too, Wild Cat."

"I missed you guys." Wild Cat said and stepped back to look up to them. The six joined him and Zuma said, "And we missed you too, dude."

"Right back at ya, dude." Wild Cat said, making everyone laugh. He looked to Chase and asked, "Hey, Chase, cat allergies still bugging you?"

"Uh…" Chase said while glancing down to his nose. But when he didn't start sneezing he said with a grin, "Nope, I'm good."

"That's clawesome!" Wild Cat said with a relieved feeling. Then he said, "I can't wait to tell you how my last show went. It helped so many people out."

"It was nice of you to help with that fun raiser for those kids." Skye said. An impatient Rubble said with a grin, "We can talk about all that as we decorate the tree. Come on."

Everyone started laughing again as they followed the Bulldog back over to the tree.

Author's Note: I'll start the next chapter with them decorating the tree while still trying to teach Goku the ropes about Christmas. And don't worry, the trouble that Santa's facing will come soon. But I want to do a few things before that. And yes, I know that having Wild Cat in this story before having him in my other one is a bit too soon, but I didn't want to leave him out of it. Plus, I'll have a bit of a backstory for him when we get that far. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
