Chapter Five: The Christmas Talent Show

Part Two: And the Winner Is…

Everyone down in the audience was watching with anticipation to see what the Paw Patrol and their friend Son Goku would be doing. Goku carried Ryder's mini-piano up onto the stage. While Ryder sat on the side, Goku, Marshall, Chase, Rubble, Rocky, Zuma and Skye all spread out. Ryder sat down with his legs crossed and lightly cracked his knuckles. Goku and the Pups waited as Ryder prepared to start. Ryder then started playing.

(Cue Linus and Lucy song from Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown)

All the Pups instantly knew what the song was and started dancing. Zuma once again started acting like he was surfing. Marshall, while doing his best to stay in control, acted like he was tripping over his own paws. Rubble ran his scratched his paws across the stage almost as if he were digging. Goku, not really knowing the song, just shrugged and started hopping from one foot to the other while also moving his arms around like he was stretching. Rocky rose up on his back paws and started moving his head from side to side. Skye too rose on her back paws before spinning around in a circle. Chase acted like a sentry by moving his head around before jumping to the side and repeating the process.

The crowd was smiling as Ryder continued to play the song while the others continued dancing. Though the music changed after a moment, the seven's dancing didn't. They kept doing the same motions for a little while longer.

Another minute later, Ryder started playing a little different and that's when the dancing changed. All six Pups hooked a foreleg around another Pup; Marshall partnered up with Chase, Skye with Rubble and Rocky with Zuma. Goku stopped dancing and glanced at the dancing Pups before looking to the audience and scratching his head. The audience laughed as did Ryder and the Pups.

When Ryder started playing the same melody again, each of the Pups once again started dancing like they had a moment or two ago. Goku quickly noticed and started doing his own kind of dancing again. Soon the song stopped, all the Pups and Goku stopped dancing as well.

(End of song)

Another round of applause went through the audience as a good number of them thought that it was very entertaining. Ryder, Goku, Chase, Skye, Zuma, Marshall, Rocky and Rubble all took a bow as Mayor Goodway walked onto the stage once again. Looking to the group she said, "Thank you all for that wonderful performance."

The eight walked off the stage and Mayor Goodway introduced the next act, "And for our final act, we have our very own Daring Danny and Wild Cat performing a stunt spectacular."

"That's Daring Danny X!" Daring Danny X corrected from off the stage. While some rolled their eyes, Mayor Goodway said, "Oh, yes. Right."

Everyone looked to the two and Daring Danny X said, "If you'll all direct your attention to the road. Me and Wild Cat have a Christmas stunt that will blow you all away."

"It's gonna be clawesome!" Wild Cat agreed with a grin. Both of them ran back to their motorcycles and jumped on. They revved up their bikes before zooming onto the road. Both of them pressed a button and red, green and white lights illuminated their bikes. Wild Cat moved his motorcycle to a spot and waited while DDX zoomed to the middle of the road before stopping where he could be seen by the audience and did a doughnut while doing a wheelie. Then he shouted, "Wild Cat, now!"

"You got it, DDX!" Wild Cat smirked before zooming forward. Quickly popping a wheelie himself, the stunt cat meowed, "Mrow! Turbo Boosters!"

The turbo engines extended and Wild Cat lifted off the ground towards the spinning Daring Danny X. Everyone watched in amazement and worry as Wild Cat moved to where his bike's front tire faced down. Some of the audience closed their eyes as they thought it wasn't going to end well. But they were proven wrong when Wild Cat's front tire landed on DDX's front tire and the cat maneuvered his bike to spin the opposite direction. Everyone was amazed by the light show from the two spinning bikes. They spun for a moment more before the two moved to where they went in an opposite direction. The crowd gasped as they thought that either of them could get hurt. But their worries were for naught as the two were able to pull it off their stunt without a hitch.

The two then drove back up to the audience before dismounting. They both had smiles on their faces and said, "Ta-da!"

"Awesome!" A few of the children clapped while some cheered from the performance. Mayor Goodway walked back onto the stage and said, "Well, with that last spectacular performance, all that's left is to declare our winner!"

Everyone, both audience and contestants, moved to stood before the stage with the contestants standing in front. Mayor Goodway stood with three other people and talked amongst themselves. Everyone else waited to see what they would say. After a minute more, Mayor Goodway leaned back and the other two nodded in agreement to their decision. Turning back to the mic she said, "And our winner is…"

A lot of people, both amongst the audience and the contestants waited with suspense building. Mayor Goodway had a great big smile when she shouted with glee, "Mr. Porter, Alex and Mayor Humdinger's performance of Christmas Shoes!"

Everyone started clapping for the trio as Mr. Porter hoisted his grandson onto his shoulders. The one who was most surprised by this was Mayor Humdinger as he looked about.

"Well done you guys!" Katie congratulated them. Mayor Goodway walked up with a little trophy in her hands and presented it to the three, "Here you go, boys."

"I think the one who really deserves it tonight is Mayor Humdinger." Mr. Porter said and handed the trophy to the flabbergasted mayor of Foggy Bottom. Mayor Humdinger was a little hesitant at first, but was surprised when Alex even said, "Yeah. We couldn't have pulled it off without you."

"Uh, r-right." Mayor Humdinger said, taking the trophy. Acting like it couldn't have been done without him he said, "After all, you can't do a 'Christmas Shoes' act without a shop keeper."

A few laughs went through the crowd and people started to leave. Others stayed for a little longer to enjoy the food. Mayor Goodway walked up to her fellow mayor and said, "Well, it looks like you got to be a part of our show after all."

"Yes, it would seem that I did." Mayor Humdinger nodded. Then looking down he said, "Come on, Kitties. Let's head back to Foggy Bottom now."

The little kittens meowed before following after him. Mayor Goodway watched him go before walking over to the Paw Patrol and Goku. She still had a smile when she said, "I did love all of the other performances as well."

"Thanks, Mayor Goodway." Ryder said. Chase then said, "I know I was taken by surprise to the song we were dancing too."

"Yeah, how come you wanted it to be a surprise, Ryder?" Skye asked in wonder. Ryder shrugged and said, "Well, to be fair, that song is one that you don't really need to practice for. It was a perfect way of showing how to express yourself."

"That's twue." Zuma shrugged in agreement. Mayor Goodway looked to Goku and said, "And I must say, you added a nice touch of humor to the act."

"Really? I honestly had no idea what to do." Goku shrugged as he still didn't really understand what he should have done. Farmer Yumi walked up and said, "Don't be to down about it, Goku. Me and Al thought that you all were wonderful."

"I guess." Goku said with another shrug. Farmer Yumi happened to notice something off about Goku and asked, "Think we could talk for a minute?"

"Uh, sure." Goku said and followed the farmer/martial arts master. They didn't walk too far from the others and Farmer Yumi said, "I sense that something's troubling you, Son Goku."

"You could say that." Goku admitted. Then he looked about the decorated town and said, "I just don't really understand this whole Christmas thing. The Pups and Ryder have tried to explain it, but it still doesn't make much sense to me."

"Well, that's quite easy to understand." Farmer Yumi said, making Goku look to her. She then explained, "To be fair, from what I remember from your story. You don't really celebrate holidays. Mostly because you're from a warrior race and you deal with a lot of world ending threats."

"And to be honest, the only things that I've really ever celebrated would be Gohan and Chi-Chi's birthdays." Goku recalled. But then shaking his head he said, "But the only thing we really do is enjoy really good food."

"Goku…" Farmer Yumi said and placed a hand on his shoulder. She then advised, "No one expects you to fully understand, nor do they expect you to celebrate like them. Just be you."

"Okay." Goku said, still hardly understanding. They heard Chase shout, "Come on, Goku! We're heading back to the Lookout!"

"Coming!" Goku said before looking back to Farmer Yumi, "See later, Farmer Yumi."

"Good bye, Son Goku." Farmer Yumi respectfully bowed before the two went their ways.

"Just look how shiny this trophy is, Kitties." Mayor Humdinger said as they made their way to their rocket powered cat carrier. The kittens all had bored looks on their faces while Humdinger continued to admire it. But as he looked at his reflection, he began to think about the events to winning the trophy.

When they reached the cat carrier, Mayor Humdinger opened the door and all six kittens hopped in. Shutting the door, Mayor Humdinger sat on top and grabbed the remote from the side. But before he could get head back to Foggy Bottom, Mayor Humdinger was surprised when he saw something flying overhead. From what he could tell, they had a Santa hat on, but more importantly they were on the back of a flying reindeer. And he saw that they were heading straight for the Paw Patrol's tower.

Deciding to see what was going on, Mayor Humdinger followed after the flying reindeer to see what was going on.

As Goku, Wild Cat and the Pups once again made their way back to the Lookout, Ryder sped down the streets on his ATV. When they all made it to the Lookout, Ryder offered, "How about we go inside and warm up a bit."

"Yes, please." Everyone agreed and walked into the tower. As they walked inside, Rocky looked to Wild Cat and asked, "Did you ever do anything like that, Wild Cat?"

"Not like that." Wild Cat shook his head. But he smiled and said, "But before we got separated, I did spend a Christmas or two with my family."

"Awe, that's so sweet." Skye said with a happy grin. A sudden noise made everyone look about and Goku saw something. Pointing to it he asked, "What's that over there?"

Ryder, Wild Cat and the Pups all looked to see a reindeer standing on their front lawn. Chase then said, "That's a reindeer."

"Do you think it's lost?" Marshall asked as they all walked up to it. Goku then noticed it wearing something, "That's a lot of bells."

"Wait, bells?" Ryder asked and looked the reindeer over. Most of the group had the same idea and Rubble started asking, "If there's a reindeer here and it's wearing bells…"

"Does that mean that he's hewe?" Zuma finished the question. A new voice spoke up, "Indeed it does, my friends."

Everyone looked to the doors of the Lookout to see a man with a red suit, red stocking cap, black boots, round belly and fingerless gloves standing there. Everyone except Goku and Wild Cat became excited, "Santa Claus?"

"That guy you told me about?" Goku asked Marshall. The Dalmatian nodded and Santa said, "It's good to see you all, my friends." He quickly noticed both Goku and Wild Cat standing with them and said, "And I see that we have a few new faces as well."

"Not that we're unhappy to see you, Santa." Ryder started out with a smile. But he became confused when he asked, "But why are you in Adventure Bay?"

"Yeah. It's not long until Christmas Eve." Rubble pointed out. Santa nodded in agreement and said, "Indeed." He sighed when he said, "But I have a bit of a problem."

"Well, you've come to the right place when it comes to needing help." Goku said and patted Ryder's shoulder. Ryder looked to the Saiyan with a grateful smile. Santa then said, "I'm afraid that I have unfortunate news."

"Did you crash your sleigh again?" Rubble asked, thinking back to a previous problem. Santa shook his head, "No, Rubble. This problem is far greater than when I had crashed. No, there may not be a Christmas this year."

"What?!" Ryder, Wild Cat and the Pups said with wide eyes. Rocky asked, "But why?"

"Mostly because the sleigh and the gifts were all damaged in an accident." Santa explained. He looked to Rubble and quickly said, "And it wasn't by a crashing sleigh.

"It was when an Elf accidentally caused a disaster in the factory." Santa finished. Ryder and the Pups all said, "Oh."

"And I need your help if I am to get Christmas back on track." Santa asked. Looking to Goku and Wild Cat he said, "And an extra pair of hands and paws might make the job go a lot smoother too." Looking to Ryder he asked, "So, can I count on the Paw Patrol to help me to save Christmas?"

"No worries, Santa." Ryder nodded with a smile. Looking to his team who also had confident smirks of their own he said, "No job is too big, no Pup is too small."

"So, where exactly do we have to go?" Goku asked while scratching the side of his head. Zuma then said, "Santa's wowkshop is all the way up at the Nowth Pole."

"And I'm afraid the trip back will wear out poor Prancer." Santa said and looked to his reindeer. Ryder then offered, "Don't worry, Santa. We can take the Air Patroller to the North Pole."

"But will the Air Patroller be okay with the cold temperatures, Ryder?" Rocky asked, worried about taking it to the far North. Ryder nodded and said, "Not to worry, Rocky. Me and Robo-Dog managed to upgrade it to where it can endure extreme climates."

"Then what are we waiting for?" Chase asked. Feeling excited he said, "Let's go and save Christmas!"

"Yeah!" The other Pups and Wild Cat agreed.

Over on the other side of the Lookout, Mayor Humdinger and his Kitties had all glanced around and heard everything. Looking down to the six felines he quietly said, "Here that, Kitties. The Paw Patrol and that tall fella are going to the North Pole."

The Kittens meowed and Humdinger said, "Perhaps if we sneak aboard those pups' little plane, then we can see if we can get a glimpse of Santa's workshop." He twirled his mustache all villain like when he said, "And we can see if we're getting anything good for Christmas in the process."

All six Kittens giggled with glee to this plan.

Author's Note: I'll start the next chapter with the group's takeoff for the North Pole. They'll meet the Elves and take a look at the damages to the workshop. And sometime after that is when some of the really good stuff will happen. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
