After capturing Mankey, the gang arrived in Celadon City.
"I can't wait to get my next gym badge." Ash said.
Misty and Brock then caught a whiff of a scent in the air.
"Hey that's Celadon City's perfume." Misty said.
"It is, let's go check it out." Brock said.
"You can head there. I'm heading to the Celadon Department Store." Ash said.
The gang then split up as Ash headed to the Celadon Department Store to get a few things.
"Excuse me, I would like to purchase a Fire Stone, Water Stone, Thunder Stone and Leaf Stone." Ash said.
"Coming right up." The Cashier said.
After purchasing the four stones, Ash headed towards a park.
"Eevee, come on out." Ash said as he sent out his 3 Eevee.
"Eevee." The Eevee said.
"Alright Eevees, here are the stones I bought for you so you can evolve." Ash said as he put the Fire Stone, Water Stone and Thunder Stone on the ground.
"Eevee!" The Eevee said excitedly as they each touched a stone.
The Eevee evolved into Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon.
"Jolt." Jolteon said.
"Vaporeon." Vaporeon said.
"Flare." Flareon said as Ash pulled out his Pokedex.
"Jolteon, the Lightning Pokemon and a evolved form of Eevee. It accumulates negative ions in the atmosphere to blast out 10000-volt lightning bolts."

Learned Attacks: Thunder Shock, Thunder Wave, Double Kick, Thunder Fang and Pin Missile.
"Vaporeon, the Bubble Jet Pokemon and a evolved form of Eevee. Lives close to water. It's long tail is ridged with a fin which is often mistaken for a mermaid's."

"Flareon, the Flame Pokemon and a evolved form of Eevee. When storing thermal energy in it's body, it's temperature could soar to over 1600 degrees."

Learned Attacks: Ember, Smog, Fire Fang, Fire Spin and Lava Plume
"Great, now that that's done, off to the gym." Ash said as he returned his newly evolved Pokemon and put the evolution stones back in his bag.
Ash went to the Celadon Gym where Misty and Brock were waiting for him.
"Hey Ash, how'd it go?" Misty asked.
"It went great, I got the stones and evolved my Eevees into Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon." Ash said.
"That's terrific, we met the Celadon Gym leader at the perfume store. We told her that you wanted to challenge her to a Gym battle and she accepts your challenge." Brock said.
"Awesome." Ash said.
The gang entered the gym and were greeted by a woman.
"Hello, welcome to the Celadon gym, are you Ash Ketchum?" The woman asked.
"Yes, ma'am." Ash said.
"Erika is expecting you, please follow me." The woman said.
The woman led the gang to another woman with black hair and wearing a kimono.
"So you must be my next challenger." Erika said.
"Yes ma'am and I'm ready for our battle." Ash said.
"Then let's get started." Erika said.
After Ash and Erika went to the battlefield.
"This gym battle between the challenger Ash and the Celadon Gym Leader Erika will now commence." The referee announced.
"Go Tangela!" Erika said as she sent out a Pokemon with red feet and tangled in blue vines.
"Tang." The Pokemon said as Ash pulled out his Pokedex.
"Tangela, the Vine Pokemon. The whole body is swathed with wide vines that are similar to seaweed. It's vines shake as it walks."
"Tentacool, I choose you." Ash said as he sent out his Tentacool.
"Tentacool." Tentacool said.
"Tentacool?" Misty said. "But he's a Water Type?"
"Yes, but he's also part Poison Type." Brock said. "So Grass Type moves cause neutral damage to him."
"Oh yeah, I forgot about that." Misty said.
"Battle begin!" The referee said.
"Tentacool, use Acid Spray!" Ash ordered. Tentacool fired a large glob of purple acid and hit Tangela.
"Tangela, use Confusion." Erika ordered. Tangela's eyes glowed violet and Tentacool was lifted into the air.
"Now, use Energy Ball."
Tangela fired a light green ball of energy at Tentacool.
"Tentacool, use Mirror Coat." Ash ordered. Tentacool became coated in rainbow aura which reflected the Energy Ball and hit Tangela.
"Tangela, use Bullet Seed." Erika ordered. Tangela fired a barrage of light green glowing brown seeds at Tentacool.
"Counter with Bubble Beam." Ash said. Tentacool released a beam of blue bubbles which collided with Bullet Seed.
"Now, Wrap." Ash said. Tentacool wrapped his tendrils around Tangela.
"Use Constrict." Erika said. Tangela spun around and reeled in Tentacool.
"Now Stun Spore."
Tangela released yellow spores from it's body that paralyzed Tentacool.
"Oh no, Tentacool." Ash said worriedly.
"Tangela, Mega Drain." Tangela fired a light green medium-sized beam and sapped some of the energy from Tentacool.
"Tang!" Tangela yelled in pain.
"Tangela, what's wrong?" Erika said worriedly.
"What's happening?" Misty asked.
"Liquid Ooze." Brock said.
"Liquid Ooze?" Misty repeated.
"That's Tentacool's ability. Liquid Ooze inflicts damage on the opponent using any draining move like Mega Drain." Brock explained.
"Now's our chance, use Poison Jab." Ash ordered. One of Tentacool's tentacles glowed purple and then jabbed Tangela.
"Tangela is unable to battle." The referee declared.
"Cool..." Tentacool said as he fainted.
"Tentacool is also unable to battle, it's a draw." The referee declared.
"I guess Tentacool used up the last of it's strength." Brock said.
"Are you alright, Tentacool?" Ash asked as he picked up Tentacool.
"Tentacool." Tentacool said.
"You were great out there, you deserve a nice long rest." Ash said as he returned Tentacool.
"Tangela return." Erika said as she returned Tangela.
"Ponyta, I choose you!" Ash said as he sent out Ponyta.
"Nnya." Ponyta whinnied.
"Go Victreebel!" Erika said as she sent out an upside down Weepinbell-like Pokemon.
"Bel!" The Pokemon said as Ash pulled out his Pokedex.
"Victreebel, the Flycatcher Pokemon and the evolved form of Weepinbell. Said to live in huge colonies deep in jungles, although no one has ever returned from there."
"Victreebel, Razor Leaf!" Erika ordered. Victreebel fired multiple green glowing razor-sharp leaves at Ponyra.
"Ponyta, Flame Wheel!" Ash ordered. Ponyta somersaults with it's body engulfed in orange flames, burns through the Razor Leaf and hit Victreebel.
"Use Swords Dance!" Erika ordered.
"Bel!" Victreebel said as several blue swords circled around it.
"Use Stomp." Ash ordered. Ponyta jumped into the air over Victreebel.
"Use Slam." Erika ordered. Victreebel grabbed Ponyta with it's vine and slammed her down on the ground.
"Now Poison Powder." Victreebel released a purple powder from the opening on it's head.
"Ponyta, Flamethrower!" Ash ordered. Ponyta released a stream of orange fire that blew away the Poison Powder and hit Victreebel.
"Victreebel, Sludge Bomb." Victreebel fired globs of brown slime from the opening on it's head.
"Agility." Ash ordered. Ponyta galloped towards Victreebel at fast speed while avoiding the attack.
"Sweet Scent." Erika said. Victreebel releases a pink powder from the opening on it's head that puts Ponyta into a trance.
"Now Leaf Tornado." A large tornado of wind with circles of light green energy swirled out of the opening on Victreebel's head, then it launched the tornado which captured Ponyta in it.
"Ponyta, Fire Spin." Ash ordered.
Ponyta shot fire from her mouth towards the ground, then a fiery tornado formed and mixed with the Leaf Tornado. When the Tornado broke apart, Ponyta's mane and tail were burning brighter as she was surrounded by an orange aura.
"Nyyyyytaaaaa!" Ponyta whinnied.
"Wow, look at Ponyta." Misty said surprised.
"That Fire Spin and Leaf Tornado combination activated her Flash Fire ability." Brock said. "Now her Fire Type attacks are powered up."
"Alright Ponyta, let's finish it off with one hit." Ash said.
"Nyta." Ponyta nodded.
"Victreebel, Leaf Storm." Erika said.
"Bel." Victreebel said as a glowing green sphere formed inside it's Victreebel's head before it was fired at Ponyta.
"Use Flame Wheel." Ash said. Ponyta charged at Victreebel with a bigger Flame Wheel. Victreebel fired a barrage of glowing green leaves and Ponyta burned through the Leaf Storm and hit Victreebel which caused it to faint.
"Victreebel is unable to battle, Ponyta wins." The referee declared.
"Victreebel, return." Erika said as she returned Victreebel. "You certainly are a tough trainer to beat, Ash."
"Thanks, when it comes to battle strategies, I plan ahead." Ash said.
"Hm, you have certainly trained well." Erika said before pulling out a Poke Ball. "Here's my last Pokemon. Go Vileplume."
Erika sent out a rafflesia-like Pokemon.
"Vile." The Pokemon said Ash pulled out his Pokedex.
"Vileplume, the Flower Pokemon and the evolved form of Gloom. The larger it's petals, the more toxic pollen it contains. It's big head is heavy and hard to hold up."
"Ponyta, Flamethrower!" Ash ordered. Ponyta released a red-orange stream of fire from her mouth.
"Vileplume, Double Team." Vileplume created copies of itself and avoided Flamethrower.
"Now, Toxic." Vileplume fired a dark purple glob at Ponyta, which badly poisoned her.
"Oh no." Ash said. "Ponyta, use Flame Charge." Ponyta became surrounded by red flames and charged at Vileplume.
"Vileplume, Flash." Erika said. Vileplume's petals produced a bright light that blinded Ponyta and caused her to stop in her tracks.
"Venoshock." Vileplume fired a stream of purple, poisonous liquid at the blinded Ponyta which caused her to faint.
"Ponyta is unable to battle, Vileplume wins." The referee declared.
"Ponyta, return." Ash said recalling her.
"Vileplume took Ponyta out with one hit." Misty said.
"That's because Venoshock does double the damage when an opponent is poisoned." Brock said.
"Now Ash only has one Pokemon left...I wonder which Pokemon he'll choose." Misty said.
"He has other Fire Types like Flareon, Charmander and Vulpix, but they'll probably meet the same fate as Ponyta. Plus Flareon doesn't have much Fire Type attacks. He could use other Poison Type Pokemon like Haunter and Gastly, but Poison type attacks only do neutral damage against Vileplume since it's part Poison type, same goes for Beedrill and Butterfree's Bug type attacks which leaves Ash with one final Pokemon." Brock explained.
"Pidgeotto, I choose you!" Ash said as he sent out Pidgeotto.
"Pidgeo." Pidgeotto said.
"Just as I suspected." Brock said.
"Do you think Pidgeotto will be able to beat Vileplume?" Misty asked.
"Maybe, but Ash better be careful. That Vileplume is no joke." Brock said.
"Pidgeotto, Aerial Ace!" Ash ordered. Pidgeotto was surrounded by white streaks then flew down and struck Vileplume.
"Vileplume, Energy Ball." Erika said. Vileplume put it's hands together and forms a glowing green ball of energy from them and fired it which struck Pidgeotto.
"Now Stun Spore." Vileplume released yellow spores from it's flower at Pidgeotto.
"Blow it away with Gust." Ash ordered. Pidgeotto's wings glowed light blue and started flapping them, releasing a gust of wind which blew the spores away before they could paralyze him.
"Vileplume, Toxic." Erika said as Vileplume fired Toxic.
"Dodge and use Air Cutter." Ash ordered. Pidgeotto flapped it's wings and a strong gust with light blue 'X' shaped energy blades in it flies towards Vileplume.
"Vileplume, Double Team." Erika said as Vileplume created copies of itself to avoid Air Cutter.
"Not this time, use Swift." Ash ordered. Pidgeotto fired multiple glowing stars from his wings which struck each of the copies before hitting the actual Vileplume.
"Moonblast." Erika said. Vileplume formed a orb of pink energy from the moon and fired it at Pidgeotto.
"Use Agility." Ash ordered. Pidgeotto then flew around Vileplume at high speed.
"Use Flash." Erika said.
"Plume!" Vileplume said as it used Flash on Pidgeotto.
"Pidgeo!" Pidgeotto said as he became blinded.
"Petal Blizzard." Erika said. Multiple pink petals circle around Vileplume's body and were fired at Pidgeotto which struck and circled around him.
"Spin and use Air Cutter." Ash ordered. Pidgeotto spun around and flapped his wings and a strong gust with light blue 'X' shaped energy blades shredded the petals while a few of them hit Vileplume.
"Now Wing Attack." Ash ordered. Pidgeotto's wings glowed light blue and charged at Vileplume.
"Vileplume, Sleep Powder." Erika said. Vileplume released a sparkling blue powder out of the flower on it's head which hit Pidgeotto.
"Pidge..." Pidgeotto said as he became drowsy.
"Don't go to sleep, Pidgeotto." Ash called out.
"Pidgeo Pidge." Pidgeotto said as he tried to shake the sleep out of his system.
"Vileplume, use Solar Beam." Erika said. Vileplume lowered it's head which glowed faint yellow and fired a yellow beam of energy at Pidgeotto.
"Pidgeotto!" Ash called out.
"Pidg." Pidgeotto said weakly.
"Come on, get up, I know you can." Ash said.
"Pidgeo." Pidgeotto said as he slowly got up.
"That's it, you can do it." Ash encouraged him.
"PIDGEOTTO!" Pidgeotto yelled as he burst into flames.
"Ah." Ash gasped.
"Pidgeotto's on fire." Misty said in alarm.
"No, that's a new move, Pidgeotto has learned Brave Bird." Brock said.
"Amazing, you ready to finish this, Pidgeotto?" Ash asked.
"Alright Pidgeotto use Brave Bird!" Ash said.
"Pidgeo!" Pidgeotto said as the fire turned into a light blue aura and flew into Vileplume which caused an explosion. When the smoke cleared, Vileplume had fainted.
"Vileplume is unable to battle, Pidgeotto wins. So the victory of this gym battle goes to Ash the challenger." The referee declared.
"I must say Ash, you have me a tough time. In honor of victory, I present the Rainbow Badge." Erika said.
"Alright." Ash said happily.
"Pidgeo." Pidgeotto said as he perched on Ash's head.
"You were amazing out there Pidgeotto." Ash praised him.
"Pidgeo." Pidgeotto smiled.
"I must say Ash, you were the toughest challenger I ever had, you certainly are a strong trainer. In honor of your victory, I present the Rainbow Badge." Erika said as she gave him a flower-shaped badge with rainbow colored petals.
"Thank you." Ash said, accepting the badge.
"Alright, I got the Rainbow Badge!" Ash cheered.
"Pika!/Cool!/Nyta!/Pidgeo!" The Pokemon cheered.
With Ash winning his fifth gym badge, our heroes continue their journey.
