When I opened my eyes, I was surrounded by white.
Sonic opened his eyes and stood up, looking around to see where on Mobius he was, or if he even was on Mobius. Considering that he was in a white room with no windows, he could have been in space for all he knew. He jumped in place, but gravity was still the same, so it was probably still Mobius. But where was he?
"Oh, hey, Shadow."
"Sonic? Where the hell are we?" Shadow responded, knocking on the glass wall that separated the two. It was hard and thick. Would he be able to break it? Sonic was on the other side, so if they were to attack at the same time-
"Sonic the Hedgehog." A voice boomed into the room. Shadow couldn't tell where it was coming from, since there were no distinguishable objects in the room that could be disguising itself as a speaker. In fact, there were no objects at all. It was all white.
"Clap your hands once within the next 10 seconds" the voice continued.
"If you are to refuse, a level 1 shock will be-" The voice wouldn't have enough time to finish what it was saying since Sonic clapped his hands the moment the first sentence was finished.
The glass wall between the two slid up, bringing the two hedgehogs together again.
"You idiot!" Shadow shouted in a tone that suggested he was more confused than angry. "Who does what they're told just like that?"
"The glass wall is gone though, isn't it?" Sonic replied, smiling like he always did.
Shadow sighed, rubbing his temples while another door opened behind him. It led to a long corridor, also white. "I'm just saying that you need to be more careful, Sonic. Have a sense of danger for once, why won't you?"
"No danger here that I can see" Sonic intertwined his fingers and placed his hands behind his head, walking out of the room and down the corridor. Shadow followed hesitantly, still wondering what was going on in here.
"What are these things?" Shadow asked, pointing towards the choker he and Sonic were wearing.
"How would I know? I went to sleep last night in my bed and I woke up here, just like you." Sonic didn't seem phased by the fact they were wearing a big metal collar. It reminded Shadow of one of those shock collars that people used to train misbehaving wild animals. Wait, didn't the voice mention a pain level earlier?
"Hey, a door." Sonic pointed out, opening it without much thought and going in. Shadow followed, only to keep an eye on Sonic so he didn't mess anything up. The door closed behind them, and in front of them was a big white room without any windows, just like last time. However, that wasn't the only thing there, as a certain white hedgehog was separated from the other hedgehogs with a large glass plane down the middle of the room.
"Sonic! Shadow!" Silver cried out, banging against the glass in an attempt to reach his friends. "What's going on?"
"We don't know either, Silver," Shadow answered, preparing to kick down the glass as well. However, the voice from above came back. And this time, it said,
"Shadow the Hedgehog. Perform self-enucleation of the left eye within the next 20 seconds."
"What? Are you insane?" Shadow repulsed in place. Just thinking about it made him want to throw up.
"Okay, now that's a lot harder." Sonic said to himself, tapping his foot on the ground.
"If you are to refuse, a level 3-" The voice went on, but Shadow was having none of it.
"Forget it! I wouldn't have done it even if it was easy!" "Wait…" "You don't listen to what the abductor is telling you to do, okay?" "Guys?" "Judging by what's going on, we're either in a weird reality tv show or a trap that Eggman set up! Either way-"
20 seconds have already passed, and time was up. The voice announced to the room, "Times up. Shock applied to the target."
Silver vomited all over the floor and fell down to his knees, coughing furiously before passing out in his own stomach acid.
Shadow watched in horror as the white hedgehog fell unconscious. Meanwhile, the voice just kept ongoing. "Shadow the Hedgehog. Raise your hands above your head within the next 30 seconds. If you are to refuse, a level 5 shock will be applied to Silver the Hedgehog."
"Don't worry. He's alive." Sonic said in a tone that was way too relaxed for what was going on around them. "Raise your hands, Shadow." Sonic calmly ordered, staring blankly at Silver's limp body.
Shadow did as he was told, and the glass wall between them raised up. He rushed to Silver's aid, moving him away from his own puddle of puke and laying him on the ground. He checked his pulse, and let out a huge sigh of relief. "He's alive…"
"See? I told you."
"You seriously aren't worried about him?" Shadow growled towards Sonic, finding his laid-back attitude annoying now. Silver just got shocked so hard that he passed out on the floor, but Sonic couldn't care less.
"He's alive. That's all that matters." Sonic started looking around, leaving Shadow to care for Silver.
"All that matters my ass! You better-"
"Sonic the Hedgehog. Shadow the Hedgehog. Silver the Hedgehog. Move to the next room within the next 5 minutes. If you are to refuse, a level 1 shock will be applied to everyone."
"Let's get a move on, then," Sonic said, lifting Silver up from the ground and heaving him over his back in a piggyback. The door they just came in through opened again, allowing Sonic to carry Silver out and walk down the same corridor from earlier.
After about a minute of walking, Silver woke up with a groan. "I...where am I?"
"Hey, Silver. You're awake now!" Sonic greeted him with a smile, just like always.
"Are you okay?" Shadow asked, caring for his well-being before all else.
"I think I'm fine. Can you let me down please, Sonic?" Silver politely asked. And when he was back on his feet, he stumbled a bit but was quickly ready to walk on his own again. "Where are we though?" He pondered, looking around him and wiping off some of the leftover acids that got stuck on his fur.
"We have no idea, Silver," Shadow answered, shaking his head. "All we know is that this voice keeps telling us what to do, and these collars will shock us if we refuse." Shadow tugged on his own collar but was unable to get it off.
"That sounds terrible I-" "Another door." Sonic cut Silver off and pointed forwards, where there was indeed another door waiting for them. All three hedgehogs walked in only to find yet another white room with a glass wall dividing the place in half. But this time, there was just a big bag on the other side.
"Silver the Hedgehog." The voice announced all of a sudden, causing Silver to flinch in surprise. He still wasn't over what happened earlier.
"Dislocate your humerus from the scapula within the next 15 minutes." The voice ordered. "If you are to refuse, a level 15 shock will be applied to the person in the bag on the other side of the room."
"Level 15…" Sonic tapped his foot again. "If Silver fainted from a level 3 shock," Sonic thought out loud. "Level 15 will probably kill that guy."
A moment of silence washed over the three as two pairs of eyes landed on one hedgehog.
"I-I can't do it!" Silver cried out, pushing himself back into a wall. "I don't know who's in that bag! I don't want to hurt myself over someone who might not even be alive! Look at it, it looks like a body bag to me!" Silver hysterically pointed towards the object on the other side, which did indeed have a zipper down the middle of a blue plastic bag.
"Silver, this might kill someone-" Shadow tried to reason with him, but was cut off by Silver shouting back.
"You don't know that! They might just be in great pain! In which case, we can move on and just do whatever else the voice tells us to do! You didn't enucleate your eye, why should I dislocate my arm?" Silver had tears in his eyes at this point. He really didn't want to be hurt.
"He's right," Sonic said, placing a hand on Shadow's shoulder, who was about to say something else. "It's him who's going to feel the pain, Shadow. Not you. We don't get to have a say in this."
"However...There are some things that we can't get back if we miss the only chance." Sonic followed up on his own statement, staring at the bag on the other side. "And some things we might be able to save if we try."
"It's your choice in the end, Silver."
"...I'm going to murder both of you if this turns out to be Eggman…"
