Star Butterfly gulped as she stared forward at the black castle looming before her. She was wearing her light blue princess dress, staring a the lady in the purple dress walk up and down the line of princesses, standing side by side next to Star.
"Every one of you is here for a reason." The lady said, pacing in front of the trembling girls.
"Too wild. Too opinionated. Too bubbly. My name is Miss Heinous As part of a noble lineage, you don't have the luxury of being an individual. So by the time I'm done with you, you'll all be fixed. Every last one of you. Whether you're from Pixtopia, or Mewni." Miss Heinous paused in front lf Star and put a singlw finger on her cheek, causing the pink hart to fade into a blue before cracking, and Heinous continued to walk up and down the line.
"And don't even think about escaping. Dimensional scissors are useless. We have a Tramorfidian crystal in Tower 3. No rift can sustain itself within our walls, so you might as well cough up the scissors you smuggled in." Every girl except Star took a pair of the scissors they brought in, the shiny silver seeming dull in the dark and dry dimension. Lightning struck across the sky, a storm threatening on the horizon.
"That concludes your orientation. I'm confident that you will all become perfect princesses. One way, or another." Heinous turned into the school and walked through the door. Star's fear filled eyes scanned the school. She thought of her Mothers words in the carriage ride.
"Don't worry Star. You'll have so much fun at school, the time will fly by. When you come home for stump day, you'll be begging to go back. Just be on your best behavior." Moon had said, with her public face on. Moon kept her public face on when she was either adressing the citizens of Mewni, or she was lying. So of course she was lying, since it was only Star and River in the carriage.
Star followed the other girls into the building, dark and fear-invoking.
"Now to get everyone checked in so we can start sucking the individuality out of you." Gemini said, leading the girls down a dark hallway. Star stared at the ceiling, a chandelier dangling above. Star headed to be checked in, doubtful, but still hopeful.
Meanwhile, in another dimension entirely, Marco Diaz was standing by his locker. He checked his watch, and looked up as the clock ticked from 7:55 to 7:56, and Jackie Lynn Thomas skateboarded down the hall, past Marco, who nodded, and Jackie nodded back. They both knew to expect it. Marco because it was part of his plan, another cruel and boring feature drilled into his normal, boring, life in the sleepy town on Echo creek. Jackie expected it because Marco'd done it since kindergarden. It wasn't something that changed, but then again, in Echo Creek, there wasn't all that much that did change. People were born, people went to school, graduated, got married, had kids, rinse and repeat. Marco stared up at the sun, and shrugged, and walked across the hallway to Math class. Same old life.
Star stared at the sun, hidden behind the clouds, mist surrounding her, as Marco stared at the sun, the heat beating down on him.
You see, Marco and Star were stuck in the same situation really. Both stuck in a place determinded to make you another one in a million. Both stuck in a place that would bring you in, make you do all sorts of stuff, to take you out.
Rinse and repeat.
