As he continued to stare at this painting of him and Rin, he hears a voice.
"Son why do you still grieve?"
Sesshomaru turns to see his mother in the doorway of his home office.
"This has nothing to do with you mother. You didn't even care for her".
"If I didn't care for you, I wouldn't have revived her from the underworld. So that means I cared for her through you".
"What is it mother? Why are you here?"
"To have a simple conversation, that is all. For five hundred years, I have seen you mope around here. You never attend social gatherings; you could meet someone".
"I rather not".
"Some souls don't come back, and it has been 500 years, that is far too long to wait for her return. It is not a guarantee".
"Even if she doesn't, my heart belongs to her".
"So, no grandpups?"
"No".
"I really hope you will find peace my son if anything. You have to be at least open to want to get to know someone".
His mother sees her way out. He was so annoyed with the conversation and instead of sending Jaken out to get morning coffee, he decides to go for himself. He needed some fresh air and some time to think about what his mother said.
Should I move on? I can't, it wouldn't feel right, being with another. There isn't anyone that draws this Sesshomaru's attention. Forget mother! I am not letting her go. He thinks
He walks into his favorite local coffee shop, he is greeted. "Good morning, Mr. Taisho," he nods.
As he is waiting in line, he gets a whiff of a scent and sniffs the air. Smells good in here, he thinks. It was familiar but not out of the ordinary, he didn't think to look around.
He hears the door to the store opening and heard the jingle from the bell hanging at the top of the door. He turns around and looks forward again not really paying attention. He thought wherever that scent was coming from, was getting awfully stronger.
As he was about to turn to see where it was coming from, "Mr. Taisho, the same as usual?" the barista asks.
"Yes please".
He feels a tap on his arm, and he turns and looks down. There standing was a brown eyed, raven hair, fair skinned petite woman. Sesshomaru thought his eyes were playing tricks on him.
"Excuse me are you in line? You are kind of just standing in the middle and I wasn't sure".
Sesshomaru stares. She looks concerned, "Are you alright?"
Sesshomaru shakes his head, "Uh yes, I am fine, they just took my order, so I am not in line anymore".
"Okay thanks".
Sesshomaru eyed this woman, this is where the scent was coming from. It couldn't be her, but she looked so much like his Rin.
He had never looked at another woman like the way he is now. She had workout clothes on as if she was going to start her exercise routine after she had coffee or something. Her tank top revealed her inward belly button, and her toned stomach. Her shorts were a bit on the short side, but Sesshomaru didn't mind looking at her backside. Her hair was in a ponytail. He has not seen such an attractive female in a long time. He felt himself drawn to her. He felt guilty for even looking at this woman this way, but he could not turn away.
She orders, "I want a refresher, strawberry dragon with Splenda and green tea please".
She wasn't here for a coffee, for a little pick me up.
"Mr. Taisho, Mr. Taisho," the barista calls him bringing him out of his thoughts.
"Thank you".
The girl looks back at him and smiles. "Uh". That's it, it's her. No one has that smile but her.
He didn't know how to approach this woman to tell her she is his long-lost wife. He couldn't tell her that, they are in modern times. She would look at him crazy.
He walks outside and waits until she comes out.
He impatiently waits, leaning on his car.
She walks out, they make eye contact again and then she makes her way down the street.
He wanted to follow her, but he wasn't a stalker, but he felt like it in this moment. The way he was watching this young woman and wanting to follow her made him feel disgusted for having such thoughts.
He decided he would come to the coffee shop himself from now on and hoped she would be there.
