She stood in front of the Queen, staring at the floor the whole time explaining the story of what went down at the Castle.
"What?" Moon asked, rubbing her temples.
"Sorry..."
"I'm not mad at you-I'm mad at Star. And Miss Heinous. How could she let Star escape?"
"I mean, in all honesty, you did let her have the wand while she was there. She probably busted out early."
"I don't need this right now."
"Sorry."
"Send our biggest armies after Star immediately. Give them access to dimensional scissors, I believe there we have a surplus in the warehouse."
"The one by the Warnicorn stables or the Volcano vacation home?"
"The Warnicorn stables. Now hurry. We need to find her."
"Of course."
"But first dear, go take a bath. Redye your hair while you're at it, your roots are growing out." Moon said, still sitting primly on her throne.
"Yes...Mother." She said, before marching off to command the troops.
Meanwhile on Earth, Star was focused on something else. Avoiding Marco at all costs. She tiptoed down in the morning, at least an hour before Marco even woke up. She wore the dress with the white bear on it, and her hair pulled back by her pink devil horns. She poured a bowl of Captain Blanches Sugar Seeds, ignoring Marco's scribbled warnings on the box. Mrs. Diaz walked down the stairs to get her coffee.
"Good Morning Mrs. Diaz."
"Good Morning Star. You're up early." She said groggily, pouring a cup of coffee in a mug.
"Yeah...yesterday was a long night. Couldn't sleep." Star said, getting a spoon out of a drawer and eating the cereal.
"If you weren't 14 I'd offer coffee."
"It's all good. My cereal wakes me up."
"Isn't that the cereal the least FDA approved food of the year?" Mrs. Diaz asked, her coffee finally sinking in.
"Probably on account of the 180 grams of sugar in each half cup." Star said, munching on the cereal. Mrs. Diaz laughed but her eyes widened when they checked the boxes nutritional facts on the side.
"Well I'd better head off to school." Star said, tossing a book into her backpack.
"At 6:34 AM?"
"Oh yeah, I'm meeting up with Oskar before school starts." Star said, before waving and skipping out the door.
Little did she know Marco was waiting for her to leave at the top of the stairs. He came down the steps and threw a mug of water into the microwave, the tea bags sitting by the stove.
"Star just left. You might be able to catch up with her if you hurry."
"No, it's fine."
"Really? I thought you always walked to school together."
"If she left at 6:30 in the morning then she can go on her own. She's probably meeting Oscar anyway. Wouldn't wanna interrupt the lovebirds." Marco poured cereal into a bowl, ignoring that Star had taken some. He poured the milk over it, and the microwave beeped. Mrs. Diaz got the mug out and handed it to Marco, who took it and stirred in honey before plopping the teabag in. He ate his cereal and tea while watching Mrs. Diaz drink her coffee.
"So what happened?" She asked, and Marco almost spit out his Captain Blanches.
"Wha-oh-uh-nothing."
"Marco, I was a teenager once too. I know somethings up."
"It's...fine."
"So fine you're avoiding your very best friend like the plague? Look Sweetie, even if you're the one who messed up, if she's really your best friend it'll never be too late."
"I- I did mess up. She's really mad. But I already apologized, she won't listen." Marco said, tears welling up in his eyes. Mrs. Diaz hugged him, and when his crying settled down she held his face in her hands.
"She might not be at school yet." She prompted, and Marco jumped up, grabbed his backpack and bolted out the door, the red hood of his hoodie flying out behind him.
"Star! Star! Star!" He yelled, seeing her ahead. She knew it was him, and didn't glance back. Marco ran up to her and grabbed her shoulder.
"What Marco?"
"I think there's a math quiz today."
"Marco, I don't need a reminder that I'm stupid, ok?"
"Star, I really didn't mean that. I was mad. I was the idiot, ok?" Star;s mouth was in a straight line. She could get like that sometimes, you couldn't tell if she was about to hug you, cry, or snap at you. It had happened more often since St. Olga's.
"Maybe I could use a little study time..?"
"You wouldn't mind backing out on Oskar?"
"I'll text him real quick." Star took out her compact and typed, before she smiled.
"It's cool."
"Then let's get started."
Marco pulled out his math textbook and journal, and Star opened Marco's phone.
"Hey- How'd you find out my passcode?"
"Janna Banana."
"Oh course...Janna get out of town!" Marco said, and started writing down the concept of the quiz, while Star opened up the music app.
?¬タヒ Who you on the phone with
It's 3 in the morning
Ear up to the door, I'm losing it
You say it's your mama
Disregarding karma
Thinking that you'll get away with this
If I got insecurities
Baby, it's cause you're hurting me
Lack of security
Like you do it purposely?
"So Star, you round up to 200, and then you multiply it by 7 before dividing it by 2, so you end up with..?"
"700."
" 're gonna ace this test."
"Doubt it."
"Don't put yourself down. Let's go before Miss Skullnick sends us to the principals."
"Will we go to detention?"
"Not if we bribe Principal Skeeves with ice cream." Marco said, and Star laughed, before running up to Oskar, who was parked in the parking lot.
"Hey Oskar. Sorry I backed out of our plans."
"No problem Star. You free tonight?"
"Yup- Wait no. I have dinner with my Mom. To see how my magic's coming along and stuff. Tomorrow night? Maybe we can catch a movie?"
"Sure thing."
"Olk bye Oskar!" Star said, walking away, smiling and clutching her math books.
"So...what's going on with Oskar?"
"I don't really know. I mean we're going to watch a movie tomorrow night so I mean...Maybe?"
"You're going to Mewni for dinner?"
"Yeah. With my Mom."
"It is going to be about...you know..."
"The treason I committed against my kingdom? I hope not."
"Will she be there?"
"There are a lot of she's in Mewni."
"I mean the girl in the cloak who stole your wand and tried to kill us."
"You mean her...I really don't want to talk about my sister right now..."
"Sister?" Marco stopped in his tracks and almost walked into a locker door.
"Yeah...It's complicated." Star said, putting her books into her locker. "I doubt my Dad'll show up." She said,
"Well I hope you aren't banished to St. Olga's after she finds out-" Marco said, as a portal opened, and he looked at Star.
"Don't look at me!" Star said, grabbing her scissors from her backpack.
"Don't look at me either!"
"Then...who is that?" Star said, the second her sister walked through the portal, wearing a blue plaid dress, which was over a white dress button down shirt and white tights with mary janes, a tiara made of braided silver intertwined with blue diamonds sat on top of her bun.
She walked forward a few steps, before the entirety of the Royal Army emerged portals she opened. She pulled out a silver sword and she lunged at Star, who dodged and sent narwhals flying at her sister, who dodged and flipped off a dried out Narwhal, and the wand went flying out of Star's hand.
"Look, I don't want any harm. Just come with me."
"Why would I go with you?"
"It's by the royal decree of Queen Moon Butterfly the Undaunted."
"You want me? You'll have to take me."
"I hoped it wouldn't have to come to this. It is on Star." She said, raising both her arms above her head. She held the wand high up and spun, releasing a stampede of Warnicorns, before creating 2 massive walls of pastel pink magic, which she created around Star, and 2 others, pastel green, trapping Star in a box for the second time in 48 hours.
"I can't believe you'd do this."
"It was by the royal decree of Queen Moon Butterfly the Undaunted." She repeated slowly, before leading Star into a portal, the army following.
Moon sat at the head of a table, the other end empty, Star and her sister sitting in the middle, on each side. Star picked at her drumstick and corn.
"Are you going to acknowledge the elephant in the room or should I?" Moon asked.
"Go ahead." Star replied.
"Star Butterfly, you literally committed almost every crime in the book last night."
"I know Mom, I'm sorry."
"Well Star, I'm afraid our only option is to send you to St. Olga's immediately."
"But Mom-"
"Mom, calm down. St. Olga's is basically a party school now. Miss Heinous left. Do you really think it wise to send Star there? It would reward her actions instead of being a consequence."
"I know Dear, but what are our other options? There aren't many dimensions I could send her that won't end in certain death or worse..."
"We could have a trial. If she wins, she can go to Earth or any dimension of her choosing. If she loses, she'll stay here."
"And who's going to defend her?"
"I will."
