Nova stood on the balcony of the rose tower, her hands clasped behind her back. The wind disrupted her hair, wisping it around her face and ruffling her bangs. The book of spells sat on the ground next to her. A cauldron sat in front of her, a bubbing liquid inside it, glowing bright red. It wasn't the first time she had harnessed Moon magic, and it wouldn't be the last. The moon rose above her, reflecting in the brew. Slight rims around her eyes glowed blue as she harnessed the power of the moon's magic into the cauldron, bubbles rose from the pot, the blue reflecting off of the side, rising up around Nova and floating around Mewni, sending the liquid up into the mountains, through the cornfields, and she was sure the bubbles would be visible from The Hill of Flags. A bubble landed on her finger before popping. She scribbled it down in the book. She had to write as small os possible to fit as much as possible. She had filled half her chapter and her reign hadn't even bugun to see the light of day. She wasn't legally the heir, but it seemed to her it was irrefutable she would supercede Star. She would feel bad about thinking that, except Star wanted nothing to do with ruling. Nova wanted to bask in it, to be legandary, to be a Queen who was a treasure to Menwi. She was a detirmined Princess, not unlike Crescenta, although Nova was no doubt more reasonable and soft in her intentions. The floorboards creaked, and Nova snapped, the whole mess was gone, hidden either in the Warnicorn stables or the Hill of Flags. Either way it was fine, she had done it before. The Warnicorns wanted little to nothing to do with the cauldron and potion, and nothing could happen to the equitment on the grassy patch of ferns on the Hill of Flags unless the Johansen's came by, which Nova was given a fair warning of.

Moon and Star approched, and Nova seized her wand and took a deep breath.

"Poison Gas Manipulation!" She called out, sending a nuclear blast of venom towards a rosebush, coating it in the radioactive slime. She immediatley sent another spell it's way.

"Healing Roses incantaion!" The gloop was dried up and the roses were as full and bloomed as ever.

"Hey Mom."

"Hello Nova. It seems you are becoming very well versed in Eclipsa's chapter."

"I've read the book over 20 times. I know each chapter front to back."

"I did the same thing when I as your age. It's mostly a haze now."

"It won't for me. Rememberence spell."

"Some things are stil lost to the ages."

"Like where my father is?"

"Woah Woah Woah guys. Woah. We're not here to fight." Star intervened.

"I wasn't here to have you walk in on me, but look where we are."

"My property, my rules. It will be Star's, and not yours."

"It would be mine if you hadn't cheated-"

"That's uncalled for!"

"It's perfectly called for!"

"You can't be acting so childish in a time like this Nova."

"In a time like what, Moon?"

Moon said nothing. Star said nothing. Nova smirked in her victory.

"We know about the war. The one that will break out because of your actions. No matter what way you put it, no matter what, the Butterfly effect finds it's way back to you."

"What war? No war has been waged Nova."

"Not yet. I heard your conversation with the Magic High Commission. After the trial. So did Star and Marco."

"So you dragged your sister into this political nonsense."

"Don't put words into my mouth!"

"Don't put them in mine."

"What words did I put into your mouth, excactly? What?"

"What were they? That there's a Civil War approaching? That the newest generation of royals is irresponsible? Oh yeah, I've been shoving all these words-oh wait! You actually said every single one of these things."

"Nova-you're taking these things out of context!"

"What's the context then?"

When Moon didn't reply for a couple minutes, Nova took a deep breath.

"Look. The unavoidable topic. Civil War is coming, even if your actions didn't begin it. Instead of getting into childish fights, how about we prepare for a dimension-wide war?"

"Nova, it won't be that serious. I'll be suprised it if rises off the ground."

"Mom, Nova's right." Star butted in.

"We need to prepare for absolute chaos. Evactuation plans, weapon storage, army drafting." Nova listed things on her fingers.

"The citizens can hide in the Magic sanctuary, although there won't be near enough room for everyone."

"We could create a separate evacuation for children somewhere. But no place is safe." Star proposed.

"We'll have to be prepared for a complete crisis and allyships being torn apart. The castle and the nearby town will be the most sought after target, so that's unavailible." Moon said.

"I know a place." Nova said.

"Where?"

"I know a place, but neither of you are going to like it."

"We are not hiding citizens in an abandoned monster temple." Moon burst out.

"Yeah, Nova, it's an ok idea in theory, but...it's too risky." Star hid her hands behind her back.

"What do you want to do? Crystilize everybody until the wars over? It could be years." Nova argued.

"Crystilization will not be an option. Rhombulus is completely turned against us." Moon pointed out.

"Isn't there another way to crystilize? With one of your advanced spells?" Star asked.

"I tried to create one when I was around your age. I never perfected it. There was no way to reverse it, so it was to dangerous to use, or record, in case of another Eclipsa." Moon said.

"I mean-it might be better then people being murdered in bloody battle." Nova suggested the idea.

Moon sighed and rubbed her temples.

"I suppose we could uncover the old temples. The old Mewman ones, mind you two."

"The ones that blindly worship a piece of wood? Yeah, we need a safe population, not a stupid one." Nova crossed her arms and raised her eyebrows. Now the stump religion is something they were divded over. Star followed it blindly, like most of the Mewman's. Moon sometimes questioned the idea, but her logic was overuled by the fact that it's a tradition as old as Mewni. Nova was dead against it.

"Well, it's not like we can hide them in a Monster temple!"

"Well, why not?"

"It'll brainwash the children to follow monster beliefs."

"Mewni could use some variety."

"Soon there will be Mewman-Monster hybrids, with hundreds of Meteora's running around."

"If that were to happen, I'm sure you would banish them and steal their villages just like the monsters."

"We do not steal-"

"Even if that were true, the raids, the riducluing, the jailing?"

"Alright, but I forbid sending children to the Monster temple."

"You forbid it?"

"Yes. I forbid it."

"But Mom-"

"Nova Basil Butterfly, this is not up for debate." Moon raised her voice and turned around swiftly, walking down the stairs, mumbling about how useless her eldest daughter was.

"I mean, for what it's worth, it was a good idea." Star said, before following Moon, leaving Nova alone. She snapped, zapping her cauldron back to her feet.

"I'm not done yet."
