It has been three years since the vampires attacked my home, and three years since I've been on the run. I have done a good job at staying undetected by both humans and vampires. My body had changed a great deal. I am a vampire, that is for sure. I don't have the teeth, nor the desire to drink blood, let alone eat.

The sun doesn't hurt me, but it dampens my powers a bit. When the sun is up, I'm not able to run as fast or lift things too high, but when the sun is down, I am faster than the eye can track and strong enough to lift an eighteen-wheeler, trailer and all. I don't age, nor does anything change about my appearance. My eyes are red, and my hair was still white. I had learned that I grew stronger the more I eat, but I didn't have a need to eat so power wasn't what I needed, what I needed was to survive.

Hearing an alarm in the distance, I looked in that direction and could tell that it was at least a mile or so out in the west. I may have avoided vampires and humans, but I still helped when I could, it was the right thing to do.

Later

Rushing up to the facility, I saw a girl, no older than ten, being dragged inside by harpoons, one in each of her limbs and seeing as it was night, my powers were at their maximum. Rushing forward, I took out the two in the back, dragging them with me into the woods where I ripped out their throats. Grabbing one of their helmets, I placed it on. "Bravo, do you copy?" I heard, with me looking back at the two as they were looking around, with the girl crawling away the best she could.

"Bravo's dead, just like you." I responded, tossing the helmet aside and rushing at them. Reaching them, I thrusted my hand into his chest and grabbed his heart, with me tossing the body to the side.

"Gamma is down, open fire!" The man said as he started shooting me. I grinned at him as I walked forward, the bullets exiting threw my back. "Unknown target is immune to bullets, I repeat, unknow target is immune to bullets!" He said, with me grabbing his gun and bending it. "Holy shit!" He said, where I lifted him up and then tore him in half.

Looking at the girl, she stared at me with wide eyes. "What are you looking at?!" I yelled, before calming myself down as I had always ended up in a bad mood whenever I took someone's life. I wasn't a fan of killing, but I did it none the less. Walking up to her, I took the first harpoon and ripped it out. Pulling out the next, she punched me in the face, with me glaring down at her. Grabbing the next two, I yanked both of them out at the same time, this time getting a scream from her. "You're welcome!" I said as I rolled up my sleeve and knelt down. Bitting my wrist, I held it out to her. "Drink, it will heal you quickly." I informed, with her staring up at me.

My blood, if I made someone drink it, even an animal, gained any one of my abilities for a short while. As for which abilities, depends on what I wanted them to have. They didn't keep them; it was only there for as long as my blood was in them. Seeing her latch onto my arm, she looked at her wrists and saw them heal in a matter of moments. She backed away and saw that my own wrist was healed, where she jumped up to her feet, looking at me.

Looking at her neck, I saw the device, with me grabbing it and ripping it off. "Go, you're free!" I said, pointing at the forest, with her looking at it, then me, then making a run for it. "No thank you, kids." I said, making my way towards the facility to give them a piece of my mind, while ripping them into pieces myself.

Later

Walking down a hallway, I was shot in the back with some arrows. Looking at the person, I saw that it was a woman. "Hello, I don't believe we have had the pleasure of meeting before." She said as I turned to face her while pulling the arrows out from the front. "Names Kimura, and you are?" She asked, taking aim with her crossbow.

"Names not important, what is important is what you and your band of pedophiles were doing to that kid. So, I will put it this way, you will shoot me with your crossbow all you want, and they will fail you, then you will move over to your guns, and they too will fail you, finally, you will move over to that combat knife on your back, only for that to fail you as I jab it into your throat." I said, getting a smirk from her.

"Kinky." She said, where she started shooting me with her crossbow, and I stood there and let her. Getting hit in the head, I grabbed it and tossed it aside, making her frown as I started removing the others. "Some healing factor you go there." She said, taking out both guns and started shooting me as I walked up to her, with her backing up as I got closer. "Why the hell won't you die!" She said as she started shooting me in the head over and over again until she ran out of ammo. Tossing the guns to the side, she pulled out the knife and stabbed me in the head or tried to as I caught her wrist.

"As I said, I will drive this into your throat!" I said, forcing her to take aim at her throat and jabbed it at her, only for it to break.

"Oh, sorry, did I break that?" She said, where she headbutted me. Backing off, I rubbed my head as I looked up at her, with me moving to the side as she jumped up and threw a fist at me.

Kicking her gut, she was lifted in the air, with me slamming my other foot onto her back, pinning her to the ground. "You're special, I will give you that, you could have been something more." I said, grabbing her hair and pulling it, with her grunting in the process. "Your skin may be unbreakable, but it's not untearable!" I said, with her eyes widening as I pulled even harder, getting a scream from her as I removed her head. Tossing the head on the ground, I continued forward, making sure that none of them got out alive.

Four years later, San Francisco

San Francisco doesn't need defending. I can walk down the streets and be normal. The cool, grey city of love, San Francisco. I had traveled by boat, having left Canada for the first time, and the states seemed like the best place to go. Walking off the boat, I sniffed the air, with me catching a scent I haven't smelt in a long time.

I followed the scent until I saw a fourteen-year-old girl looking down the docks at another girl. "You." I said, with her turning to me and extending some claws out of her hands. "Reflex?" I questioned, with her relaxing as she took notice of who I was. "What are you doing here?" I asked, looking at the kid. "Thinking about a normal life?" I asked, with her looking at the kid as well.

"She is my cousin." She said, with me looking at her. "I have yet to introduce myself to her." She said, looking back at me. "Did you kill everyone, in the facility?" She asked, with me looking at her.

"Only one survived, a woman, claimed to be a mother of a mutant that was there, X-23 if I remember." I said, looking back at the kid. "I take it that that's who you were?" I asked, with her staying silent. "What is your current name?" I asked, crossing my arms.

"Laura, Laura Kinney." She said, looking at me. "And you?" She asked, with me staying silent.

"I go by many names, the cursed one, the unholy miracle, the nameless one-"

"Your name!" She said, annoyed, making me smile at her glair.

"Just call me Cody." I said, with her frowning at that.

"Cody doesn't seem like your real name." She said, with me nodding.

"It's not, but my family called me Cody, I would prefer that you do the same." I said, with her nodding her head slowly.

"Well, Cody, I know I didn't say this before, but thank you." She said, with me nodding as I turned around and made my leave.

A week later

Punching a man in the face, I broke his night vision goggles. Grabbing him by his vest, I dragged him up to the wall and tossed him against it. Seeing him look at me, I got in his face. "What is the Facility doing here?" I questioned, punching the brick wall, putting a hole in it.

"W-we're after X-23!" He said, with me frowning as that was Laura.

"Well, what do you have on her?" I asked, grabbing him by the top of his head. "Location?" I asked, with him nodding.

"She's staying with some relatives just downtown!" He said, with me nodding.

"Good, how did you learn of this?" I asked, with him gulping.

"One of them works with us and requested the Trigger Scent so that he can have X-23 kill the family!" He said, with me gritting my teeth on that.

"Thank you, for your cooperation." I said, ripping his head off and tossing it aside. "Looks like I have to save that kid once again." I said, walking out of the alley.

Later

Reaching the house, I saw Laura was standing outside. "Desmond?" I heard another voice, where Laura extended her claws and started making her way to the door.

"Son of a bitch." I said, rushing towards the house. Once there, I saw her stab Desmond in the back, with the girl screaming out in fear. "Shower, now!" I called out, with the girl looking at me. "You have a strange scent on you, the same one that he had and its driving Laura crazy!" I said, with Laura turning towards us. "Now, get in that shower!" I said, walking towards Laura. "Go down this path, and you won't like the outcome." I said, with her charging at me with a feral yell. "So be it." I said as I was stabbed in the chest.

Grabbing her arms, I pulled her claws out, with her looking at them and pushing them back in the best she could. She jumped up and stabbed her foot claws into my chest, where she pushed herself away from me. Seeing her jumping at the stairs, I grabbed her leg and tossed her into the wall. She screamed at me as she started slashing at me even more, with me smacking her so hard she fell to the ground. Hearing the shower, I grabbed Laura by her hair and dragged her upstairs, with her throwing her so called tantrum all the way upstairs.

Reaching the top floor, I made my way over to the bathroom and kicked the door in, with me hearing two female screams. Opening the shower curtain, I placed Lauras head in the water. Once she relaxed, I pulled her head out of the water, with her looking dazed. "Welcome back to the world of sanity." I said, dropping her. "Now that everyone is here, make your way to the basement, the facility is here!" I said, with Laura standing up with a small glair.

"Who are you?" The teenager questioned, with me looking at her.

"I'm the one who is going to make sure that none of you die, now get your scrawny asses down to the basement!" I yelled, pointing to the door, with both of them making a run for it. "Laura, your family, you protect them." I said, with her nodding. "I will be the last line of defense." I said, following the two out the door and down the stairs.

Hearing the older woman scream, I punched her, knocking her out. "What was that for!?" The Teenager questioned as I picked her mother up.

"She would have drawn attention to us, now, basement!" I said, with us making our way there. Once we reached the bottom steps of the basement, Laura jumped up and cut the water pipes, with me setting the mother down on the sewing table. "They will see two body temperatures down here." I said, looking at Laura as she stopped at the steps.

"Three, you're staying here, remember?" She said, with me nodding.

"I don't have body heat." I said, with her nodding and going upstairs to take care of business.

The next day

"Here." I said, passing a large bag of money to Laura, who caught it as soon as I entered the hotel room. "Don't ask how I got the money, because I won't tell." I said, looking at the table and seeing her making passports for Megan and her mother. "You're not going with them?" I asked, looking at the two sleeping girls.

"No, if I'm around them, I will only draw the Facility to them." She answered in a bit of a sad tone. "I'm going to travel with you, you're the only one that can stop me if I go on a blind rage." She said, with me nodding as I was most likely the only one who could.

"Ok, so what is it that you want to do, because I don't tend to stick to cities or towns, I stick to the woods or mountains." I said, with her nodding her head at that.

"First, we go east." She said, with me raising an eyebrow at that as that was random. "There is a person I want to find, like me." She said, extending her claws. "My father." She said in a bit of an angry tone.

"You want to kill him." I said, with her nodding. "Then we go east, while they go north." I said, with her looking at the passports and back at me.

"Why north?" She asked, making me smile at that.

"I'm sending them to my hometown up in Alaska, there they will meet up with an old friend of mine who is the sheriff of the town and will get help settling in my old home." I said, tossing her a key, which she caught and looked at.

"This was buried." She said, then looking over at the bag of money. "How long was all of this buried for?" She asked in curiosity.

"Long enough." I said as she went back to work on the passports.

The next day

"The money will last you at least three years. Stay on the move, don't go to the safehouse until a month from now, and when that month is up, head to that location, and be sure to alternate your cover stories as you move." I said as the three stood in front of me.

"You have everything you need to get you the rest of the way." Laura said, with Megan looking at her.

"What do you mean, you? You mean us, right?" She asked, but Laura stayed silent. "Laura?" She asked again, but she shook her head.

"I can't go with you." She said with a blank expression, hiding her feeling deep inside.

"What? Why?!" Megan questioned, not happy with the outcome.

"We love you so much, Laura." The mother said as she walked up to her and placed a hand on Lauras cheek, one that she leaned into.

"What are you doing?!" Megan yelled as she stepped forward. "You have to come with us, you have to-"

"Enough!" I said, stepping forward. "It's not easy on her either, Laura is making a tough decision, one that you have to respect for your safety." I said, with her backing up. "Look, I get it, your family, but with her around, it will only bring trouble towards you, and you might get killed. Look at what happened a few days ago. Desmond, your stepfather, was working with the same people who used and experimented on her. If something like that happens again, and if I wasn't there, you all might have been as good as dead." I said, with her looking down at the ground. "It's not like she won't ever see you again." I said, with Laura looking at me.

"I don't think I will-"

"You will." I said, looking at her. "The village is almost as good as dead, and they will learn on how it ended up like that. The people who live up there are good people, they never leave under any circumstances." I said, looking at them. "That second bag, is for when it gets dark and things come crawling in the night, use them to protect yourself." I said, placing a hand on Lauras shoulder. "In a year or two, she will visit." I said, with them nodding their heads. "Tell Corbin that Dakota is ok, but he can't go home, never." I said, with them nodding once more while Laura looked at them one last time.

"Goodbye, Megan." Laura said as she started turning around to head back to the car.

"Laura, wait!" Megan said as she grabbed the girl's hand. "I was going to give you this when we got settled." She said, pulling out a locket and placing it in her hand. "It's a picture of your mom from the passport, I also added a photo of me in it-"

Laura hugged Megan tightly, and if it wasn't for the rain, you would have been able to see her tears. "Thank you." Laura said as she now had a way to see her every day. Megan returned the hug, not wanting to lose her family. Once the hug broke, Laura and I made our way to the car, leaving them behind.
