Chapter One: Tourist Trap for the Blog
It was a beautiful summer afternoon as the sun shone down. It seemed like a normal day as a family was cooking out. The father was at the grill flipping hamburgers, the mother at the table setting it and two young children running about and having fun. Over at a picnic table, a few friends were enjoying the time they had together.
"Ah! Summer break!" A voice, belonging to a twelve-year-old boy, thought about during the day.
The husband looked to his wife as he flipped and asked, "So, do you want cheese on your burger, hon?"
"Sure, Hank!" The wife said from the table. The two children laughed as they ran around in the grass.
Another voice, sounding like an older gentleman, then said, "A time for leisure, recreation and taking it easy. Not to mention rolling around in the dirt, chasing cars and chewing on your butt."
"Eww, gross! And I think that's just you, Stan." A feminine voice said with a chuckle. Another male voice, much older than the first but younger than the second, said, "But summer is usually one of the best times for kids."
"Unless you're us." All three young voices said at the same time. Over by a large welcoming sign with the name of the town, a place called Gravity Falls, all seemed normal. But then suddenly, a white golf cart crashed through it with a few screaming youths and a dog riding in it.
The cart crashed onto the path down below and the teen continued driving. The cart swerved along the path as they kept going. A bit behind them, trees were being knocked down by a large creature as it growled. A girl with long brown hair, braces and a sweater with a sparkly kitty looked back and fearfully shouted, "It's getting closer!"
"I'm surprised that it's able to keep up, considering how big and how many obstacles are in the way!" The older girl with long blonde hair and a nice, but not so nice, dress shirt and skirt said when she glanced back. A little girl with curly red hair looked to the boy driving and said, "Tyler, we need to go faster!"
"It's a golf cart, Chloe! It can only go so fast!" Her older brother, a young man with a green shirt, blue jeans and long brown hair retorted as he focused on driving. The dog, a Border Collie mix with white fur and brown and black spots, managed to hang on despite how fast they were going and said, "Oh, I feel like I'm going to lose my lunch!"
"Make sure that you do it over the side since you're right behind me." The boy, wearing a blue vest, orange T-shirt and brown shorts, in front said in fear of the dog throwing up on him.
"But before we go any further, I that think we should introduce ourselves." The girl said. The younger boy agreed, "Yeah, that'll help clear some things up.
"My name is Dipper, the one with the blue vest." The boy started and waited a moment for them to see him. Then he said, "The girl sitting next to me who's about to puke is my twin sister Mabel."
Mabel was indeed holding a hand over her mouth and looked like she was about to throw up just like the dog. The girl then said, "I'm Avery, the girl with the blonde hair with a sense of authority about her."
"Yeah, if you had any." The slightly older boy said. Then he introduced, "I'm Tyler, the one driving, the more handsome boy of the family."
"In your dreams, Tyler." Avery said with a laugh. She then said, "The girl with the red curly hair is mine and Tyler's sister Chloe."
"And the dog in the back is me, Stan. And I know that's going to get confusing a little later, but moving on." The dog said.
The creature growled as it was starting to catch up to the golf cart and its shadow overtook it. The cart was able to out race its hands when it tried to grab it. Everyone screamed when they went over a ramp of rocks and twisted in the air before landing on the road again. They continued to drive from the large creature.
"You all may be wondering what the six of us are doing in a golf cart, fleeing from a creature of unimaginable horror." Dipper said. The giant creature removed a tree from the forest by uprooting it. It threw the tree and everyone looked to see the tree flying over them. Mabel pointed ahead and shouted, "Tyler, look out!"
Everyone once again started screaming again when it crashed in front of them. Tyler swerved the golf cart where it wouldn't crash into the tree. But it was too much as the cart went through the opening under the tree and started to tilt. But the action seemed to freeze and everyone had crazed or panicked expressions on their face.
"Rest assured, there's a perfectly logical explanation for all of this." Dipper said. Avery seemed to shrug when she said, "Kind of reasonable."

(Gravity Falls theme)
The clouds were going by fast over the valley of Gravity Falls. A car passed by a large water fall, a giant wooden lumberjack statue at a gas station, by the Gravity Falls water tower.
When the car pulled over to let everyone out, all the characters stood before an old house in the woods. They were amazed when they looked over the place. Suddenly, a puff of smoke startled them and an old man wearing a fancy suit and tie holding a cane with a magic 8-ball on it. He presented his place of residence and business. It was neat until the 'S' of the Mystery Shack fell to the ground.
The group moved through the shake and looked about the wonders of it all. When they neared the end, they all looked to each other with Mabel and Stan the dog giving grins.
Later on, they showed the older gentleman a mysteriously huge foot print. The older man thought to himself as he looked at it. But as it turns out, that large foot print and the group were in an even larger foot print.
The moving of the sun made the shadows of everything in Gravity Falls move as well. And the wind caused the Mystery Shack's weather vane, with a question mark and the letter's 'w', 'h', 'a' and 't' to turn.
Dipper Pines
In a long old hallway filed with spider webs, Dipper was looking around with a candle. But when he turned he came face to face with a skeleton shackled to the wall. The sight was so frightening that it made Dipper drop the candle and he backed away in fright of getting burned.
Avery Jennings
Sitting in a chair with a book in her lap, Avery was going over a few words. She looked to the side and became very worried when she saw something out in the hall. She quickly got up and chased after what it was.
Mabel Pines
Mabel hugged her pet pig tightly as she was delighted to see him. Later on, she put on one of her custom-made sweaters as it was her name over a rainbow with stars all over. She had it plugged in and was smiling as she looked about.
Tyler James
Tyler ran a comb through his hair before looking a mirror and making a pose. Then he was trying to talk to a girl before she walked right by and he sighed when he didn't stick it.
Stan Pines
Stan was running from the law while holding a cash register under his arm. Later he was sitting in his chair and moved his eye patch from one side to the other.
Chloe James
Chloe was sitting up in her room, brushing the hair of one of her dolls. Later on, she seemed to be lost in a crowd before being found. She was given a doll as if to say sorry.
Stan the Dog
It was late at night when Stan turned on a portable computer and filled out his blog. Later on, he was running along while chasing after a ball.
Much later, the family and a few friends were sitting around a campfire. Grunkle Stan was telling a spooky story that seemed to make everyone jump. The only one who wasn't affected was the teenager with the fur cap on her head and plaid shirt. And everyone was completely unaware that there was a giant bat hiding in the shadows behind them.
Back at the Mystery Shack, Dipper was running a finger along the pages of a journal. Later up, in their room, the children and Stan the dog were reading a journal, book or a magazine when suddenly they all started floating in the air. While Mabel, Stan and Chloe were all oblivious to it, Dipper, Tyler and Avery all looked about.
An assortment of photos from the family's adventures started piling up on the table. The last one to fall was the family and a couple of friends standing in front of a tree with an opening in the trunk.
\_|_/
The cart once again was coming to a stop before freeze framing. Tyler then said, "How about we rewind back a bit."
"That sounds like a very good idea." Dipper agreed. Avery then said, "Let's start back a few days ago."
\_|_/
(Flashback)
"It all started a few days ago. For our side…" Dipper began the story. Dipper, wearing his usual outfit, and Mabel wearing a sweater with a shooting star on it, were doing their usual thing. Mabel was hugging a cat, real or a stuffed animal is undecided, while Dipper was playing a game system. Their parents quickly swiped the stuff out of the arms, confusing the twins, "It all began when mine and Mabel's parents decided that we could use some fresh air."
One of the parents placed a backpack on Mabel's back while tossing a duffel bag into Dipper's arms. Then a brown cap with a star on it was placed on Dipper's head while Mabel caught a sleeping bag. Then the parents finished up by placing a small dab of sunscreen on the sibling's noses.
"And as for our side…" Avery took over. The group was sitting in the living room talking over some things, "A secret of mine, Stan, Tyler and Chloe's had come to light for our parents and we had much to discuss. After they were cool with it, our Aunt and Uncle had told them their idea of sending our cousins Dipper and Mabel on a road trip. And since my Mom and Dipper and Mabel's Dad are brother and sister, it made it a little easier."
"Through our parents," Tyler threw in, "We were all shipped up North to a sleepy town called Gravity Falls, Oregon."
"We were allowed to stay at our Great Uncle's place in the woods out side of town." A car drove through the woods before stopping at the shack. When they all got out, Bennett and Ellen drove off.
Their uncle had let them in and let them stay up in the attic. Though it wasn't that big, there was enough room for some of the kids to share a bed. There was a lot of stuff in the attic; a table, a painting of a ship, a whacking game, a shelf not too far from the door and a closet. Mabel took one of the beds next to the slanted wall and put up a few posters. When she was done, she looked back to her brother and cousins and said, "This attic is amazing, you guys! Check out all my splinters!"
"That looks really painful." Tyler commented when they all looked at Mabel's hands. Dipper was walking backwards to his bed as he checked out the room. But the sound of bleating made him turn around. Dipper wasn't too thrilled as he said, "And there's a goat on my bed."
"He smells a lot like Grunkle Stan." Chloe said when she walked up to the bed. Stan the Dog seemed to bark in agreement and it made everyone laugh. Mabel walked up to the goat and said, "Hey, friend."
The goat answered this by biting on the arm of Mabel's sweater. But Mabel didn't seem fazed by it as she laughed, "Oh! Yes, you can keep chewing on my sweater!"
She kept laughing as it wasn't really bothering her. But Dipper, Avery or Tyler wasn't all too thrilled about it.
"My sister tended to look more on the bright side of things." Dipper said.
Later that afternoon, the kids were spending a day outside. Tyler and Stan were chilling under a tree. Mabel and Chloe were having fun as they were laying on their sides. They started rolling down the hill and Mabel shouted, "Yay! Grass!"
"This is so much fun!" Chloe shouted on the way down.
"But me and Avery were having a slightly hard time getting used to our new surroundings." Dipper said. The two were currently sitting under a tree with a woodpecker sitting on Dipper's head. Avery shooed the bird away before getting up and walking off. Suddenly, a man wearing a scary mask appeared next to him and shouted, "Boo!"
Dipper screamed in fright and dropped the book and pen he was holding before falling to the ground. The man removed the mask and revealed an elderly gentleman wearing a fez. The man, or Stanford Pines, started laughing from scaring his nephew. Dipper didn't look to happy as he looked up at his great uncle, "And then there was our Great Uncle Stan. That guy."
Stan slapped his knee in amusement but had to stop when he entered a coughing fit. He pounded his chest with the cane in his hand before saying, "It was worth it! Totally worth it."
"Our uncle had transformed his house into a tourist trap he called the Mystery Shack." Dipper said as Stan lead a group through the museum. Dipper then commented, "The real mystery was why anyone came at all."
"I can't help but agree with you there, Dipper." Avery agreed with him. But Stan the Dog said, "Aw, it's not that bad you guys. There's a lot of fun stuff to look at, sniff or chew."
"Oh, please tell me you didn't chew on anything, Stan." Avery begged of the dog.
One of the antlers fell off of a jackalope though no one seemed to notice. Stan Pines turned to the crowd and gestured when he said, "Ladies and gentleman, behold the Sascrotch!"
They looked over to see a statue of a Big Foot wearing a pair of underwear. It had a spot light shining down at the lower body parts while also a sign and a diagram for the attraction stood right next to it. The crowd was amused by this as some clapped while others took a picture.
"And guess who had to work there during the summer." Tyler dejectedly said.
The kids and Stan the Dog were all moving about as they worked in the gift shop. Dipper was sweeping when he gave a sigh. Avery was counting the money in the register while Tyler was placing a few items of merchandise on the shelves. Stan the dog was currently wearing a hat with an arrow that pointed at the museum door, looking bored with it. Mabel and Chloe were looking at a giant cat eye ball when the former moved to touch it. But Grunkle Stan lightly smacked the hand away from it before warning, "No touching the merchandise!"
"It looked like it was gonna be the same, boring routine all summer." Dipper said as he was starting to wrap it up. Outside the shack, a man wearing a green T-shirt with a question mark on it and grey shorts was riding through the pathways of the shack to it. Stan the Dog took up by saying, "Until one fateful day for all of us."
Inside the shack, all the kids were working on their usual chores. However, one child broke away from wiping the counter as she looked over a shelf with Stan Pines bobble heads. She smiled when she saw a boy standing there. Mabel became really excited when she said, "Avery! Chloe! Come over here! He's looking at it!"
"What are you up to now, Mabel?" Avery asked as the step-sisters walked over. Mabel pulled them behind the shelf and they all looked to the boy. A kid in a brown shirt, blue shirt with brown hair picked up a piece of paper. It unfolded in his hands and he read, "Uh… Do you like me?" He looked down at the choices, "Yes… Definitely…" He became greatly confused and disturbed at the last one, "Absolutely?"
He looked about for the one who wrote it. Mabel was still smiling when she revealed, "I rigged it!"
"You do know that's not how it works, right, Cous?" Chloe asked her only female cousin with quirked brow. Dipper caught his sister's attention, "Mabel? We know that you're going through your whole boy-crazy phase," He sprayed a jar of eyes and wiped it as he said, "but we all think that you're kind of overdoing it with the crazy part."
"What?" Mabel questioned before blowing a raspberry with crazy eyes. Walking to her brother she said, "Come on, you guys! This is our first summer away from home. It's my big chance to have an epic summer romance!"
"I know what it's like to want love." Tyler said from over at the other shelf. But turning to his adopted cousin he said, "But the way you're going about it, is kind of creepy."
"And do you have to flirt with just about every guy that you meet?" Dipper asked. Avery then threw in, "And if you need a bit of a reminder from just the past few days, I'll be happy to do it."
\_|_/
"Like yesterday right here in the gift shop…" Avery said as she and the others remembered.
In the Mystery Shack gift shop, Mabel, in a pink sweater with a few wavey lines and wearing feather earrings, was standing next to a boy in a camouflaged T-shirt and blue pants. She turned to him and fluttered her eyes when she said, "My name is Mabel. But you can call me the girl of your dreams!"
It surprised the boy and he didn't know what to do. But Mabel didn't give him time for a response as she pushed him, "I'm joking!"
Mabel laughed while the boy crashed into the post card rack while Chloe watched from the counter and shook her head.
\_|_/
"Then the day before that when you hit on the guy with the turtle." Tyler added.
Sitting on a bus bench was a boy with glasses, a red shirt and black shorts holding a turtle in his hands. Mabel suddenly popped up, wearing a blue headband, light blue sweater with a daisy on it, and the boy looked at her when she said, "Oh, my gosh, you like turtles? I like turtles, too!"
Making it seem like there was some kind of attraction between them she moved her hands to him and back at her, "What is happening here?"
"Oh yeah, I remember that." Avery said as she remembered. She sounded annoyed when she said, "That was also when you tried to use Stan to pick up that dog walker."
"Mabel!" Avery called her cousin. Mabel sighed before walking away from the boy with the turtle. When they and Stan started walking together, Mabel saw a boy walking a dog. Thinking that she had another opportunity, she grabbed Stan's leash before walking off. Avery cried out and ran after them, "Mabel!"
\_|_/
"And then the time with the mattress prince from our first day." Chloe finished up.
In a mattress store, a man dressed in purple, royal robes with a crown on his head and a scepter in his right hand. He shouted to customers, "Come one, come all to the Mattress Prince's Kingdom of savings!"
"Take me with you!" Mabel creepily whispered when she appeared from behind a cluster of balloons. The man screamed in fright from Mabel being there. Tyler walked up and said, "Mabel, come on, you shouldn't walk off like that."
"Ah!" Mabel groaned before being led away by her oldest cousin.
\_|_/
"Mock all you want, brother and cousins, but I've got a really good feeling about this summer." Mabel said with a confident grin. The turning to the museum opening she said, "I wouldn't be surprised if the man of my dreams walked right through that door."
But instead of it being a random young man of Mabel's dreams, it was just her Grunkle Stan. He had a few signs tucked under his arm while also holding a can of soda in the same hand. He clutched his belly with his free hand and belched. He gave another, but it didn't feel right to him, "Oh! Oh! Not good! Ow."
"Oh! Why?" Mabel groaned in disgust while Dipper, Avery, Tyler and Avery all laughed at her misfortune. Even Stan the Dog had an amused smile on his face.
"All right, all right. Joking aside. Look alive people." Grunkle Stan said. Then gesturing to the signs under his arm he said, "I need one or two of you to go out into the spooky part of the forest to hammer up these signs."
"Not it!" All five children yelled at the same time while raising his hand. Even Stan the Dog barked as if not wanting to do it. Even the man in the green T-shirt behind them drilling in a shelf said, "Also not it!"
"Nobody asked you, Soos." Grunkle Stan deadpanned up at him. Soos Ramirez was the handy man of the Mystery Shack and became a good friend to the five and Stan the Dog when they arrived. Soos had a smile when he said, "I know. And I'm quite comfortable with that."
He took a bite of his chocolate bar before returning to work on the shelf. Stanford looked over to cash register as a young girl wearing a lumberjack cap, a plaid green shirt, blue pants and muddied up boots. The owner said to her, "Wendy, I need you to go and put up this sign."
"I would… But I…" Wendy said as she was looking at magazine. She didn't take her eyes off of it as she reached out with a hand and lazily said, "Can't, uh… reach it."
Wendy Corduroy was one of the coolest teens of Gravity Falls. Though she mostly had a laid-back personality while working at the shack, she was very cool to hang around with. Grunkle Stan sighed and said, "I'd fire all of you and the dog if I could.
Turning to the children he said, "All right, let's make it…" He pointed to each when he played, "Eeny-meeny-miny…" He landed on Dipper, "You!"
"Oh, what?" Dipper asked in disbelief. Turning his eyes to the door he shuddered as he said, "Grunkle Stan, whenever I'm in those woods I feel like I'm being watched."
"Maybe it's just paranoia, Dipper." Avery said as she handed Tyler a piece of merchandise. Stan rolled his eyes, "Oi," He pinched his nose when he said, "This nonsense again."
"I'm telling you, something really weird is going on in this town." Dipper strongly claimed. Holding up his left arm he said, "Just today, my mosquito bites spelled out, 'beware.' And I find that very strange."
He held it to where Grunkle Stan could see it. But the older man wasn't seeing it when he said, "That says 'bewarb', kid."
Dipper took a closer look at it and happened that it did in fact say bewarb. Dipper hid his bug bitten arm and scratched it in embarrassment. Stanford then said, "Look, kid, the whole 'monsters in the forest' gimmick is just a local legend." He gestured from himself over to a customer, "Drummed up by guys like me, to sell merch to guys like him over there."
Everyone looked over to see an overweight customer holding a Stan Pines bobble head. He was sweating as he laughed in amusement. Stanford looked to his nephew and tossed Dipper the signs and said, "So quit being so paranoid!"
Dipper sighed in disappointment. Avery then walked over and said, "Don't worry, Dipper. Stan and I can go with you."
"I ain't going anywhere." Grunkle Stan said with a look to her. Avery looked to her uncle before looking behind her and said, "I was talking about the dog."
"Oh." Stanford said as he looked over at the dog who was currently scratching his ear with a hind paw. Stan's eye lids fell when he said, "I don't know why his name's gotta be Stan, it's just going to confuse the both us."
"Then you'll have something in common." Avery said like a joke. But Grunkle Stan wasn't laughing. Wrapping an arm around her cousin she said, "Let's go."
\_|_/
The wind whistled and caused a few tree tops to sway from it. They walked through the woods for a little bit with Dipper walking in front of them. When they were sure that Dipper couldn't hear them, Stan said to Avery, "I don't know why Dipper is so paranoid."
"I think he just wants a little mystery this summer." Avery shrugged. Stan then asked, "Do we have a contingency in case Dipper, Mabel, Stan, Soos or Wendy find out."
"As long as we're careful, they won't find out." Avery shook her head. Then she reminded, "We don't need any trouble like back home."
"I just can't believe that we couldn't bring Freddie and Gracie with us on this trip." Stan silently whined. Avery gave him a sympathetic look and said, "I know. But to be fair, they aren't trained in the ways of when to talk and when not to talk."
"That's true." Stan agreed. Dipper's voice stole their attention, "Hey, we made it!"
"Okay." Avery said before she and Stan moved to join him. Dipper and Avery let Stan hold the signs while they both worked to place the nails into the tree. Dipper once again sighed before hammering in another nail. Avery looked to her cousin and said, "Don't worry, Dipper. Maybe you are right. But you shouldn't worry about it so much. I mean this what, our fourth day in Gravity Falls and we're all still in one piece."
"It just feels like nobody ever believes anything that I say." Dipper said before taking the sign from Stan. He hung it up before going to the next tree. But as he placed a nail against the trunk and hit it with the hammer, a metallic thunk came from the tree. He quirked a brow, "Huh?"
Both Avery and Stan looked to the tree as it also surprised Dipper. The boy leaned closer before lightly banging the hammer against the tree trunk again. It banged again before Dipper started feeling around the tree. Dust came off of it when he rubbed his hand before finding a handle. Dipper opened the door and he, Avery and Stan all looked inside. Sitting in the hollow part of the tree was a really old looking device. It had a monitor, a pressure gage, a couple of nobs, some buttons and two switches at the top. The three looked around before Dipper turned back to it and flipped one of the switches. When nothing happened, he flipped the other the sound of machine whirring came to their ears and the goat from the shack bleated. They all turned around to see an opening in the ground just as the goat ran off.
All three walked to the opening and looked inside. They all thought that it was strange when Dipper said, "What the…"
Laying in the hole was an old book covered in dirt and cobwebs from over the years. Dipper started reaching down when Avery stopped him, "You're really just going to pick up an odd, random book you found in the woods?"
"What, think it's boobytrapped or something?" Dipper asked. Avery glanced down at the book and said, "Maybe."
"Look, I think there was more to this book, then I think that it might have been guarded, don't you think." Dipper pointed out. Avery bit her thumb nail and said, "Maybe."
Stan lowered his canine head down into the hole and sniffed the book. But the dust caused him to sneeze and back away. He gave another sneeze before shaking his head. Dipper just playfully rolled his eyes before reaching down to grab the book. When he pulled it out, he saw a golden six fingered hand print was on the cover. Setting the book down, Avery and Stan watched over Dipper's shoulders as he opened it to the first page. Property of, a monocle and Vol. three was the only things on the page. They looked at the monocle before Dipper flipped through the book. The next page contained some of the author's words as Dipper read, "It's hard to believe that it's been six years since I began studying the strange and wondrous secrets of Gravity Falls, Oregon."
"Secrets?" Avery asked before Dipper flipped through the book. They all saw different kinds of things in the book as they flipped through. The journal got more and more interesting with each page turned. Dipper was getting more curious, "What is all of this?"
"Well, obviously, it's some kind of record of the various things in this town." Avery shook her head. Looking to Dipper she asked, "But they can't be real, can they?"
"I don't know." Dipper said as he continued to flip through the book. As the boy passed by a specific page, Stan noticed that there was an illustration of a dog on it. Stan planned on taking another look later. Dipper soon stopped flipping when he came upon an interesting page. It had a circular diagram on the right page while on the left it had a large message of 'TRUST NO ONE!' He read it aloud, "Unfortunately, my suspicions have been confirmed. I'm being watched by his agents of this world."
"That's really odd." Avery commented but became silent again. Dipper then read, "I must hide this book before he finds it. Remember, that in Gravity Falls, there is no one that you can trust."
"Well, that's a little silly." Avery played off. Dipper looked to her and said, "Huh?"
"If you can't trust anyone, then how does one expect to handle the situation all alone." Avery pointed out. But the words weren't really sticking to Dipper as he closed the book, looked ahead and repeated, "No one you can trust."
"Hello!" Mabel shouted from behind, making her brother and cousin yell in fright while Stan yelped. Dipper nearly dropped the book, but was able to hold on to it. Avery looked to her and asked, "Mabel, what are you doing here?"
"It's not just Mabel." Tyler said as she and Chloe walked up to them. Chloe looked to her adopted sister and said, "We felt like you were taking too long so we thought about coming to find you."
"But what you reading there, Dipper?" Mable asked when she noticed the journal in Dipper's hands. He moved it behind his back as she asked, "Some kind of nerd thing?"
"Uh, uh… It's nothing!" Dipper said, trying to make it sound like the book was nothing special. Avery looked to her cousin with an arched brow and asked, "Seriously, Dipper."
"Sure doesn't look like nothing." Mabel said with a grin. She laughed before asking, "What are you actually not gonna show us?"
"It's not going to hurt." Avery pointed out. Dipper knew that his cousin had a point, and he hardly kept anything from Mabel. The goat had come back and was chewing on the bottom corner of the spin. Dipper glanced to the goat before back to his family, "Uh… let's go somewhere more private."
Stan barked at the goat, making it bleat in fright before running off again. The cousins then made their way back to the shack.
\_|_/
After making it back to the shack and telling their Grunkle Stan about finishing the signs, the six were sitting in the living room. Tyler was sitting at one of the chairs at the table with Avery and Chloe in two of the others. Stan the Dog was laying on the ground but had his head raised. Mabel was sitting on the arm of the chair while her brother paced across the floor and went on about the book, "It's amazing! Grunkle Stan said that I was being completely paranoid about it, but according to this book," He opened it to let Mabel look, "Gravity Falls has this huge secret dark side to it."
"Let us see, man." Tyler said, wanting to take a look at it. Dipper walked over to the table and showed them a few pages. Tyler then asked, "You are sure that you're not being punked, right?"
"Huh?" Dipper asked his older cousin and tilted his head. Tyler then pointed out, "Not to discourage you, Dipper, but the guy who wrote this might have been some kind of loon."
"Tyler, I doubt that a loon would have been able to set up a complex system to hide that book." Avery pointed out and Tyler nodded in somewhat agreement. Dipper then flipped to the back of the book and said, "And get this, you guys. After a certain point, the pages just stop and no more discoveries are in it."
"Sounds like that the guy who was writing in it mysteriously disappeared." Chloe put in. Her siblings and cousins looked to her in surprise. Even Stan the Dog seemed to be surprised as he whined a bit. Dipper nodded and said, "Yeah, like that Chloe."
Suddenly the door bell rang and it surprised three of the six. Dipper glanced back while closing the book, "Who's that?"
"Well, you guys are not gonna believe what happened." Tyler said with a big smile. Gesturing to his cousin he said, "If you'll do the honors, Mabel."
"Time to spill the beans." Mabel said with a grin. She poked a can pf beans sitting on the T-Rex skull and laughed, "Beans." Pointing to herself she proudly announced, "This girl here's got herself a date."
She, Tyler and Chloe all started whooping while raising their arms up in the air. Mabel let out a laugh before falling down in the chair. Dipper and Avery were completely surprised by this as the former asked, "Let me get this straight. In the half hour that me, Stan and Avery were gone, you already found a boyfriend?"
"Tell me she didn't do anything crazy?" Avery asked her siblings. Tyler shook his head while smiling and said, "Nope. This time is completely different."
"Yeah, he came up to Mabel and asked her on a date." Chloe added with a nod. Mabel straightened herself in the chair and said, "What can I say? I'm guess I'm just" She let the sleeves of her sweater and waved her arms as she said, "Irresistible!"
The doorbell rung again, causing Mabel to jump off the couch shouting, "Oh! I'm coming!"
She ran for the door while Dipper looked to his cousins and asked, "Think that we could keep the journal a secret?"
"Why?" Chloe asked while tilting her head. Tyler rolled his eyes and said, "Dipper's probably just worried that Grunkle Stan would use whatever's in the book to use an attraction."
"But I think that we can keep it a secret." Avery said, making her siblings look to her. She gave them a look before glancing down to Stan, which they nodded in agreement, much to Dipper's confusion. All three looked to Dipper and nodded, "We'll keep it a secret."
Even Stan barked in agreement. Dipper smiled before moving to the chair and sitting down. He opened the book to read it, but before he could dive too deep in it, Grunkle Stan walked into the room. He was taking a sip of soda before seeing Dipper with the book, "What'cha reading there, slick?"
"Oh! I was just catching up on, uh…" Dipper shouted before placing the book between the chair cushions. Then he pulled up a magazine from the skull, making the can of beans fall to the floor and read the title, "Gold Chains for Old Men Magazine?"
"That's a good issue." Grunkle Stan said as he knew which one it was. Dipper opened it back up and looked through while Stanford was taking another sip of the soda. The three at the table were about to get up when Mabel called out, "Hey, family!" They looked to see Mabel standing in the doorway, "Come say hello to my new boyfriend!"
Standing next to Mabel was a tall boy wearing a worn-out black jacket with some twigs in it and ripped up blue jeans. Stan the Dog took a few sniffs of the air and found something strange about the boy. The boy turned his head and had a grim frown on his face before it became a smile and he waved, "Sup."
"Hey." Dipper, Tyler and Avery waved back to him. Grunkle Stan pointed to him and said, "How's it hanging?"
"Nice to see you again." Chloe said from her chair while Stan got up. Mabel held the boy's arm and said, "We met at the cemetery. He's really deep."
"What were you guys doing at a cemetery?" Avery asked her brother and sister. Tyler then shook his head, "Don't ask."
"Oh! A little muscle there. That's…" Mabel said as she squeezed his arm. She sounded fascinated, "What a surprise."
"So, what's your name?" Dipper asked the boy while Grunkle Stan took another sip. The kid looked about as he looked to think of something. He sounded a little nervous when he said, "Uh… Normal…" He sounded scared when he added, "Man!"
That caused a few eye brows to raise. Mabel then happily clarified, "He means Norman."
"Are you bleeding, Norman?" Tyler asked while motioning to his cheek. A drop came off from his face. Norman glanced to the cheek before becoming nervous again and saying, "It's jam."
"Does that mean you had a PB and J sandwich?" Chloe asked. Norman had a bored expression when he said, "No."
"But speaking of jam, I love it!" Mabel shouted in amazement. Then gesturing to the both of them she said, "Look at this!"
Stan started sniffing Norman and found a very weird smell about him. It seemed to make Norman even more nervous when Stan came closer. Mabel then said, "Stan, you're making Norman uncomfortable."
Stan the Dog whined before backing away from the boy. The odd boy took a deep breath of relief.
"So, you wanna go, and hold hands or whatever?" Norman asked her. Mabel gasped, "Oh, my goodness." She giggled in excitement before turning to her family, "Don't wait up, you guys!"
She quickly made her way out of the room. Norman turned to follow her, but crashed into the side of the door startling everyone. He seemed to be alright as he turned the other way. The sound of crashing came from the hall way and it made everyone wince.
Dipper got up from the chair while Grunkle Stan sat down and started reading the magazine. Mabel's twin didn't feel all was it seemed with Norman.
"There was just about Norman that wasn't quite right." Dipper said in the narration. Avery then said, "Even the four of us could agree on that much."
"So, while me and Avery were taking care of a few chores, Dipper went to look in the journal." Tyler finished.
\_|_/
Up in the attic of the shack, Dipper was sitting by a window with a triangle that looked like it had an eye in it. Stan the Dog looked up just as a possum scurried by as Dipper read the book. He found an entry that seemed close to what he was looking for and read aloud, "Known for their pale skin and bad attitudes, these creatures are often mistaken for," He became very worried when he saw the last word, "teenagers!"
Even Stan the Dog seemed to grow a little concerned as Dipper continued to read, "Beware of Gravity Falls' nefarious…" He gasped and a boom of thunder oddly sounded as the picture of the journal seemed to morph into Mabel's boyfriend and say, "Sup."
"Zombie!" Dipper shouted and it echoed through the house.
Down below in the downstairs bathroom, Grunkle Stan was currently fixing himself up for some customers with Chloe's help. He became confused from hearing the shout and asked, "Did someone say, "Crombie"?" Looking to his niece he asked, "What is that? Crombie."
"I don't think that's really a word." Chloe shook her head. Stan looked worried as he said, "I'm losing my mind."
"Looks like it's all there to me." Chloe said as she looked her uncle over. Stanford laughed before rubbing the top of her head.
Back upstairs, Dipper was still in shock to what he had discovered. The sound of running feet made him and Stan look to the stairs to see Avery and Tyler running up them. Avery looked to her cousin and asked, "Dipper, what's wrong?"
"Guys, you're not going to believe this but I think that Mabel's boyfriend is…" Dipper was cut off when they heard the sounds of angry grunting coming from outside. All three kids and Stan looked outside the window and saw Mabel sitting at a picnic table. But when they saw Norman, they became worried as he was walking up menacingly at her. Mabel, who wasn't unfazed by the way he was acting, smiled as she said, "I like you."
"Oh, no! Mabel!" Dipper yelled, worried for his sister. He tried to warn her from behind the window, "No, no! Mabel, watch out!"
They gasped when Norman raised his arms menacingly up before wrapping his hands around Mabel's neck. The three screamed when they thought he was strangling her, but calmed down when they saw that he only put a necklace of flowers and gave a happy grunt. Mabel gasped, "Daisies?" Looking to Norman she said with a grin, "You scallywag!"
"Okay, Dipper, what has got you all worked up?" Tyler asked when they moved away from the window. Dipper looked to his cousins and said, "I think that my sister is dating a zombie? But I might just be going nuts?"
"I think it's the second thing." Avery said with a nod. But a voice from the side said, "It's a dilemma to be sure."
They all yelped and looked to see Soos standing on a step stool while changing a lightbulb. He looked to Dipper and said, "I couldn't help but overhear you talking aloud to your cousins in this empty room."
"About zombies?" Avery questioned and folded her arms. Dipper then asked the handyman, "Soos, you've seen Mabel's boyfriend. He's gotta be one, right?"
"Hmm." Soos said while pausing on fixing the light. Then he asked the boy, "How many brains did you see the guy eat?"
"Zero." Dipper said with a sigh. But Soos gave him a sympathetic nod, "Look, dude, I believe you. I'm always noticing some weird stuff in this town." Then he asked, "Like the mailman?"
"You mean Sebastian?" Avery asked as she's seen the same guy. But Soos nodded when he said, "I'm pretty sure that that dude's a werewolf."

(Flashback)
The other day, Sebastian the mailman was walking on the sidewalk. He passed by Soos who was eating his lunch on a bench. But Soos was giving the mailman a wary eye as he scooted away from Sebastian and moved his lunch bag closer to him.

"But you gotta have the evidence to prove it." Soos pointed out. Then he added, "Otherwise people are just gonna think you're a major league cuckoo-clock."
"As always, Soos, you're right." Dipper nodded. Tyler then asked, "You are pretty wise, man."
"My wisdom is both a blessing, and a curse." Soos philosophically admitted. But they were interrupted when they heard Stanford shout from below, "Soos! The portable toilets are clogged again!"
That caused the children and Stan the Dog to shudder in disgust. Soos, fixing his hat and he climbed down from the step ladder and said, "I am needed elsewhere."
With that said, he walked backwards into the darkness. Tyler nodded and he said, "Soos can be so cool sometimes."
Dipper picked up the journal and decided to heed Soos' advice. Looking to his cousins he asked, "Can I ask for your help, guys?"
"Mostly to make sure that Mabel isn't going to get into some kind of trouble." Avery said. Tyler then shrugged, "It wouldn't be too different from the shenanigans from back home."
"What?" Dipper asked, not remembering anything like that. Both his cousins said, "Nothing."
Dipper became surprised by this, but didn't press further. Dipper tucked the journal into his vest.
"My sister could be in real trouble. It was time to go get some evidence." Dipper narrated.

(Spy Montage)
Dipper, Tyler and Avery followed Mabel and Norman out into the park. With a video camera in hand, they watched as the couple were tossing a frisbee. Well, Mabel did the tossing as she threw it at Norman. But instead of catching it, it smacked him in the face, causing the three watching to wince. Norman then face planted against the ground and the three didn't know what to make of it.
…
Later, they followed Mabel and Norman to the Gravity Falls Diner. Norman grunted as he walked up to one of the doors. Then raising a fist he punched through the glass before feeling around for the knob. When he found it, he opened the door and let Mabel go in first. They walked in while passing by the three who were covering their faces with menus. As they walked by, Norman once again crashed into something and it made a woman scream.
…
After following the once again back to the cemetery, they watched as the two were laughing and running past the graves. Mabel was able to avoid running into an open grave, but Norman cried out as he fell in. His hand burst out of the dirt before he pulled himself out with a scream. He and Mabel looked to each other before letting out a few laughs. Dipper turned off the camera as he had watched enough.
"We'd seen enough." Dipper narrated. Stan then said, "And it wasn't looking too good."

The three returned to the Mystery Shack. Dipper walked inside to find his sister. As he opened the door, Stan the Dog came running out. Dipper went inside and Stan walked up to Tyler and Avery. Then he asked, "Did you find any proof that Norman is one of the undead?"
"Not really." Avery shook her head. Tyler shrugged and said, "I feel like we just wasted our time."
"Well, maybe not entirely." Stan disagreed. Avery looked to Stan and asked, "You really think that Norman is a zombie?"
"Not really a zombie." Stan shook his head. But he did say, "But there's a lot more than he's letting on. Like the fact that I not only smelled the jam, but also more than one scent coming from the kid."
"More than one scent?" Tyler asked, feeling a little confused. Then he threw in, "Now that I think about it, I did ask both Soos and Wendy if they've ever seen Norman in town, but they only just saw him when he came by the shack."
"So, Mabel could be dating some kind of whacko?" Avery asked, fearing for her cousin's safety. Tyler looked to the house and said, "Let's hurry and catch up to Dipper."
They ran back inside the shack. Dipper came out of the living room with Chloe tailing him. She looked upset with her siblings and said, "You left me out of something fun!"
"It wasn't all that fun, sis." Avery shook her head. But Tyler then added, "But it is important."
"Come on." Dipper said before all of them ran up the stairs. They went to their room and opened the door to find Mabel brushing her hair. Dipper walked up to his sibling and said, "Mabel! We've got to talk about Norman!"
"Isn't he the greatest?" Mabel asked with a grin. Then grabbing the hair over her cheek she said, "Checkout this giant smooch mark he gave me!"
She moved the hair to reveal a giant red spot on the side of her face. All five yelped at the sight. Tyler then commented, "That dude needs to dial it back!"
Mabel gave out a laugh before saying, "Gullible." She revealed, "It was just an accident with the leaf blower."
\_|_/
(Flashback)
Sometime after hanging out with Norman, Mabel decided to practice for later. For some odd reason, she took a leaf blower from the inside the shack and placed it on a trashcan. Then taking out a picture of Norman with his mouth cut out, she placed it at the end of the leaf blower and said, "Kissing practice!"
But when she leaned forward to give it a try, the picture was sucked into the leaf blower and pulled Mabel forward. She gave muffled screams as it was starting to hurt. She started running around with the leaf blower attached to her face. But when it wouldn't come off on its own, she bashed the end against the ground while shouting, "Turn it off! Turn it off!"
"Hang on, Mabel." Chloe shouted from the side.

"That was fun." Mabel smiled at the memory. Then looking to her younger cousin she pointed to her and said, "Thanks, by the way, Chloe."
"No problem." Chloe nodded and gave her a thumbs up. Then she giggled when she added, "Plus, it was kind of funny to watch."
"But, Mabel, you need to listen." Dipper said, getting his sister back on track. Dipper then said, "We're trying to tell you that Norman is not what he seems!"
He pulled the journal out of his vest. Mabel gasped as this means that her boyfriend could be one of the supernatural. She then asked, "Do you think he could be a vampire? That would be so awesome!"
"That would be a bit of a step up." Avery nodded while Stan moved closer to Mabel. Dipper agreed when he said, "So guess again, sister."
Then turning the book to her, he quickly flipped through it before stopping on a page, "Sha-bam!"
"Ah!" Mabel cried out in disgust when she thought that it was actual gnomes. Avery happened to notice it and said, "Uh, wrong page, Dipper."
"Oh, wait." Dipper said before taking a look. Then he flipped through it again, "I'm… I'm sorry!"
Then he stopped on the right page and said again, "Sha-bam!"
"A zombie?" Mabel asked, feeling that it was a little farfetched. Then she said, "That is not funny, Dipper."
"I'm not joking." Dipper shook his head. He paced as he listed the facts, "It all adds up, the bleeding, the limp, the groaning." Then he made another good point when he turned to her, "He never blinks. Have you noticed that?"
"Maybe he's blinking when you're blinking." Mabel suggested. But Avery shook her head, "I highly doubt that."
"But maybe he is really good at not blinking." Tyler suggested. Mabel seemed to agree with him, "That does sound more possible."
"But seriously, Mabel, remember what the book said about Gravity Falls?" Dipper reminded about when he told her about what the journal said. He looked around before saying, "Trust no one!"
"Well, what about me, huh? Why can't you trust me?" Mabel said before noticing that Stan was looking a little bored. She picked up a tennis ball and was about to throw it when Tyler said, "Look, Mabel, we're just trying to make sure that everything is sound with Norman."
"And I appreciate that, I do." Mabel said while waving the ball in her hand up and down. With her free hand she gestured to herself, "But you have to let me be able to make these choices for myself."
"And what if it turns out that Norman is some kind of fraud or something. What's gonna happen then?" Avery asked. Mabel continued waving the ball up and down as she said, "Then we'll know the truth, but for now I just got to go with my gut and-"
"Just throw the ball, girl! The game is called Fetch! Not Keep Away!" Stan yelled, really wanting to play. But his shouting caused the conversation to halt a moment as Dipper and Mabel looked down at the dog. Both of the jaws dropped from what they just heard. Mabel sounded both astonished and freaked out as she tried to stay calm, "Did… Stan just… talk?"
"Uh, no." Stan said with a grin. Quickly realizing his mistake he tried to cover it up, "I mean, uh, woof!"
Avery just facepalmed while Tyler and Chloe stared at their pet in shock. They remained that way for a whole thirty minutes. Stan then asked, "Really, still trying to process all this?"
Mabel shook her head as he was right. Turning back to her family and said, "Stan is right. I've got a date to get ready for.
"Beep-bop!" She said while attaching star shaped earrings to her ears. Dipper grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her, "Mabel! He's gonna eat your brain!"
Having had enough, Mabel sternly looked at her brother and cousins, grabbed her brother's arm, "Dipper, guys. Listen to me.
"Norman and I are going on a date at five o'clock." She said while jabbing her brother in the chest. It caused not only him to back up, but their cousins as well. Then she jabbed him again, "And I'm gonna be adorable." They backed up before she jabbed him again, "And he's gonna be dreamy!"
"Wait!" Dipper said as she forced them out of the room. Mabel took the door in her hand before finishing the subject, "And I'm not gonna let you guys ruin this with one of your crazy," She slammed it when she shouted, "conspiracies!"
"Well, that went great." Stan said from behind her. Mabel looked to him and said, "Sorry, Stan. But if you would…"
"Say no more." Stan nodded. She opened the door again and he walked out. But before she closed it she said, "And don't think we won't talk about the whole talking dog thing later."
"Got it." Stan said before she shut it again as Dipper came walking up.
Dipper, Avery, Tyler, Chloe and Stan all stood outside the door. Dipper sighed and said, "What are we gonna do?"
"I guess we'll just have to trust her." Avery said with a shrug, seeing as they couldn't convince her. Tyler then suggested, "Let's let her be, guys."
"Fine by me." Chloe said and they all walked down the stairs. Avery looked down to Stan and said, "I can't believe that you blew the secret!"
"She had a ball in her hand and she was teasing me with it." Stan defended himself. With a swipe of his paw he said, "And with a ball, you either throw it or don't."
"Okay, since we're on the subject. Care to tell me about this." Dipper asked about Stan being a talking dog. Avery sighed and then said, "Basically. Stan is a talking dog whose gone through numerous homes and had to leave each one due to the owners trying to expose his secret."
"Mostly through experimentation." Tyler added while Stan just shuddered. Chloe then said, "And then he found his way to us. And together we've gotten into some whacky hijinks."
"So that's what you meant." Dipper remembered from a conversation from before. When they reached the bottom of the stairs Avery turned to Dipper and asked, "So, if you could keep it a secret?"
"No, problem." Dipper nodded, more than willing to. And pointing back up the steps he said, "And I think Mabel will understand just as much."
"Let's go and see what's on T.V." Tyler said and they all walked into the living room.
The owl clock on the wall hooted when five o'clock came and sure enough, Norman was on time as he rang the doorbell. Mabel came running down the stairs while putting on a different sweater. When the doorbell rang again she shouted, "Coming!"
She made it to the bottom of the stairs and opened the door. She smiled when she saw Norman standing there and greeted, "Hey, Norman." She posed and asked, "How do I look?"
She showed him her sweater that had sparkles in it and a cat head. The words 'Meow Wow' sparkled in the sunlight. Norman's shoulders twitched as he said, "Shiny!"
"You always know what to say." Mabel said, flattered by the one word. She held Norman's hand and the two walked away from the Mystery Shack. Stan and her family all watched as they left and disappeared in the forest. Dipper pulled out the video camera and went over the footage. Avery, Tyler and Chloe all looked over the side of the chair. But while they were looking at the footage, Stan took the opportunity to sneak out and follow after Mabel.
"Soos was right, guys." Dipper said as they continued to watch. They saw Mabel and Norman playing hopscotch with the latter falling on his face again. With a shake of his head, he felt a little bad about what happened, "I don't have any real evidence."
"Hey, you were just looking out for Mabel. And that does count for something." Tyler nodded to cheer his cousin up. Dipper fast forwarded the tape to when Mabel and Norman having their arms around them. But Dipper just shrugged and said, "Maybe. But I guess that I can be kind of paranoid sometimes and…" But he stopped when he saw Norman's hand fall off before he reattached it, "Wait, what?"
"Say wha-?" Avery asked before Dipper rewound the tape. He stopped just after the hand fell off, and when he pressed play, they all watched as Norman reached around Mabel before picking up the hand. They all stared in shock as Norman reattached his hand while keeping watch to see if anyone saw that. They all screamed at the sight and Dipper fell back in the chair. He shot up and said, "I was right!"
"Not now, Dipper!" Avery said as they all ran out the door. All four kids shouted, "Oh, my gosh! Oh, my gosh!
"Grunkle Stan! Grunkle Stan! Grunkle Stan!" They shouted as they searched for their uncle. They ran around the house and saw a large crowd standing by the other porch. When they rounded the corner, they saw their uncle showing off an exhibit. The conman smiled as he walked over and unveiled, "And here we have rock-that-looks-like-a-face rock." Then he explained, "The rock that looks like a face."
It turns out that it was a rock and that it looked like it had a face. A few of the tourists were confused and a hillbilly raised his hand that was missing its pinkie finger to ask, "Does it look like a face?"
"No, it looks like a face." Stanford repeated. A more chubby tourist asked, "Is it a face?"
"It's a rock that looks like a face!" Grunkle Stan said, becoming annoyed about them not getting it.
The four kids ran to the back of the crowd and Dipper shouted, "Over here! Grunkle Stan!"
"Grunkle Stan!" Avery, Tyler and Chloe cried out and tried to get his attention. But their uncle didn't hear them as he shouted, "For the fifth time, it's not an actual face!"
Dipper and the others made a face as they groaned in frustration. Avery then noticed something, "Guys? Where's Stan?"
"He's up there?" Tyler said and gestured to their uncle. Avery rolled her eyes and said, "Not Grunkle Stan! Stan the Dog!"
"Huh?" They asked and looked about. They did notice that the talking dog wasn't with them. Chloe then asked, "Do you think he followed Mabel and the zombie?"
"It could be possible." Dipper said as they now had two to worry about. They started once again tried to get their uncle's attention.

Mabel and Norman had hiked for a good distance and were out in the forest. Stan made sure to keep his distance behind them, but close enough to come to Mabel's rescue. When they Mabel looked about and said, "Finally, we're alone."
"Yes." Norman said as he walked up behind her. Stan became very worried when the boy ominously said, "Alone!"
He raised his left hand and Stan was very unclear of the boy's intentions and prepared himself.

Back at the shack, Dipper and his cousins were still trying to get Grunkle Stan's attention. Dipper jumped up and down waving his arms, "Stan! Stan!"
A sound made them all look to their left. Their eyes widened when they saw Wendy driving up on the golf cart. Figuring it was the next best thing, Dipper smiled when he got the idea, "Wendy!
"Wendy, Wendy!" Dipper shouted as they all ran up to her. The redheaded teen turned to them as Dipper said, "Wendy! We need to borrow the golf cart so we can save Mabel and Stan the Dog from being eaten by a zombie!"
Wendy slightly crossed her arms before looking to Dipper's cousins. Tyler then said, "I know how it sounds, but we are telling the truth."
A smile formed on Wendy's face before she handed the keys to Tyler and said, "Try not to hit any pedestrians."
They watched as she walked away before a smile formed on their faces. Tyler nodded and said, "Okay, she is the coolest person alive."
"I agree." Dipper said before they all climbed in. Tyler put the keys and started the cart. When they were all buckled in, Tyler pressed the pedal to the floor. The cart sped backwards, but stopped when Soos stopped them, "Dudes, it's me. Soos."
"Hey, Soos." Chloe said from the back. Soos waved to her and presented a shovel to them. Handing it to Dipper in the passenger seat he said, "This is for the zombies."
"Thanks." Dipper said and took it before placing it on the floor. Then Soos presented a baseball bat and handed it to Avery behind Dipper, "And this is in case you see a piñata."
"Uh, thanks." Avery said and took it, even though they all thought that it was a little odd. She set it down on the floor before Tyler sped backwards again. When he reached the rails he turned the cart while Soos shouted after them, "Better safe than sorry!"

Back at their spot, Mabel nor Norman had moved from their spot. Stan had moved a little closer to get a better look and listen what was said. Norman turned away from his date as he said, "Mabel, now that we've gotten to know each other," He played with his zipper and took a deep breath before dramatically saying, "there's something that I should tell you."
The wind blew through the forest, causing Norman's hoodie, Mabel's hair and Stan's fur to sway in it. Mabel's mouth was supportive as she said, "Oh, Norman. You can tell me anything." While in her mind she was hoping, "Please be a vampire! Please be a vampire!"
"All right…" Norman said before he turned back to her. Placing his hand on his zipper he asked, "Just don't freak out, okay?" He got ready but quickly said, "Just keep an open mind. Be cool."
He started to undo the zipper and he got ready to remove his jacket. Mabel and Stan's eyes widened as they didn't know what to expect. But when Norman shed his hoodie, they were both surprised. For Norman was neither a Zombie or a Vampire, he was actually a bunch of Gnomes stacked on top of each other. Both girl and dog were shocked by this revelation. Two of the Gnomes were holding a pair of fake hands while the bottom two wore a pair of boots. The Gnome on top moved the hair out of his eye and asked Mabel in a much higher pitched voice, "Is this weird? Is this too weird for you? Do you need to sit down?"
Mabel just stood there all shocked about what her boyfriend really was. The top Gnome then said, "All right. I'll explain. So," Gesturing to him and his associates, "we're Gnomes. First off, get that bit of info out of the way."
"Uh…" Mabel said as she tried to process what just happened. The Gnome then introduced himself, "I'm Jeff." He pointed to each of them when he said their names, "And here we have Carson," One of the Gnomes waved his fake hands, "Steve," The other wave the fake hand, "Jason and" the bottom waved his hand, but Jeff stopped when he got to the last one, "I'm sorry, I always forget your name."
"Shmebulock.' The Gnome said with a couple of lazy eyes. Jeff snapped his fingers as he remembered, "Shmebulock! Yes. Anyways…" He turned back to Mabel who sat down on a rock and said, "Long story short, us Gnomes have been looking for a new queen." He looked to his fellow Gnomes, "Right, guys?"
"Queen, queen!" All four of them creepily said as Shmebulock and the other in the boot were making grabbing motions. Jeff gave a small laugh before asking, "So what do you say, Mabel?"
Then tapping his left foot, the Gnomes on the left got lower and Shmebulock had to hold himself with his hand while the Gnome that held the right hand presented a box. The box opened up and revealed a large engagement. Jeff then popped the question, "Will you join us, in holy matrinomy." Jeff heard what he said and quickly corrected himself, 'Matri… Matrimony! Blah!" He shook his head, "I can't talk today."
Mabel, who had stood back up, took in a deep sharp breath as she didn't want to do this to them, but knew that it just wouldn't feel right to her. But she did say, "Look, I'm sorry, guys. You're all really sweet." Then pointing out the obvious differences, "But I'm a girl. You're Gnomes. And it's like, what? Yike!"
Jeff and the other Gnomes were disappointed with the answer as Jeff sighed and said, "We understand. We'll never forget you, Mabel."
Mabel smiled in appreciation to his. Even Stan from his hiding spot smiled as how well they were taking this. But they were both surprised when Jeff said, "Because we're gonna kidnap you."
"Huh?" Mabel questioned and Stan's head shot around the tree. Jeff gave a feral yell as he leapt off the other Gnomes towards her. Mabel gave a scream and Stan moved into action.
Just as the Gnomes were starting to surround her, Stan came barking at them. Mabel happened to look to the Dog and smiled from the rescue, "Stan!"
"I've got your back, Mabel!" Stan said as he moved between her and the Gnomes. The two stuck close together as the Gnomes got closer to them. Seeing that they were getting too close, Stan decided to at least call for a little help. Throwing his head back he let loose a howl.
\_|_/
Dipper, Avery, Tyler and Chloe sped through the forest when they heard the scream and then the howl. Avery looked to her siblings and cousin and said, "Mabel and Stan must be close by."
"Don't worry, guys!" Dipper shouted out into the forest, "We'll save you from that zombie!"
There were many twists and turns in the forest. As they came around a bend at the top of a hill, they heard another scream from Mabel, "Help us!"
Another howl came soon after. Tyler pulled a Fast and Furious when he pushed the breaks and the cart slid a little. Looking to the others he said, "Hang on, guys!"
He went down a hill they came upon a much more dark place within the forest. Looking ahead, they saw Mabel and Stan surrounded by a bunch of small people. They pulled up just as one of the small people stood on a rock and said, "The more you two struggle, the more awkward this is gonna be for everybody!" Seeing as how his fellow Gnomes weren't getting the situation under control he shouted, "Just… Okay! Just get her arm there, Steve."
"Hey, let go of me!" Mabel shouted as she shook her arm with Steve hanging on by his teeth. Stan was able to break free from his group of Gnomes and with a bite to the Gnome's butt. Steve screamed as he let go and Stan threw him away. Mabel then punched another away before kicking a third back. The Gnome tumbled on the ground before coming to a stop by a tree. But as he pulled himself back up, he gave a groan before barfing up a rainbow.
"What the heck is going on here?" Dipper shouted as they were all confused. Avery shook her head, "I don't think that we're dealing with zombie's here."
"But they are kind of cute." Chloe said as she picked one up. It struggled in her grip and Tyler said, "Chloe, put him down. You don't know where he's been."
"Fine." Chloe said before putting the Gnome down. But the Gnome hissed at them and they all flinched. Mabel and Stan were happy to see the others as the former said, "Dipper, guys! Norman turned out to be a bunch of Gnomes!" She glared down at them and Stan headed butted one in the head as she shouted, "And they're total jerks."
She bonked one on the head and it retaliated by grabbing some of her hair. She winced as it was hurting, "Hair! Hair! Hair!"
"Gnomes?" Dipper questioned as he pulled out the journal. Avery shook her head as she said, "Huh, guess we were way off in our assumption."
"You might want to hurry up and flip through that book, man." Tyler suggested as the Gnomes were able to get more of a handle on Mabel and Stan. Dipper quickly flipped through the journal and found the entry, "Gnomes. The little men of the Gravity Falls forest." The four took a closer look when he said, "Weaknesses, Unknown."
When he lowered the journal, they saw that they had tied both Mabel and Stan up. Both were annoyed when they shouted together, "Oh, come on!"
"All right that's it." Avery said as they all walked up to the Gnomes. Dipper then shouted, "Hey, hey! Let go of them!"
"Oh. Hey there!" Jeff laughed when he turned to the four. Then he tried to smooth things over by saying, "Um, you know, this is all really just a big misunderstanding here." Gesturing to Mabel he said, "You see, Mabel or the dog aren't in any danger.
"Mabel's just marrying one thousand of us and becoming our Gnome queen for all of eternity." Jeff said while some of the other Gnomes nodded. Dipper, Avery, Tyler nor Avery were not impressed by the story. Jeff looked to his captives and said, "Isn't that right, honey."
"You guys are butt-faces!" Mabel shouted in defiance and the Gnome closest to her head covered her mouth. Jeff then said, "As for the dog, we'll just let him go as soon as we get finished with the wedding and everything."
"Okay, that can't be legal, human or Gnome." Avery shook her head, questioning everything. Stan then said from his trapped position, "You can't just force someone to marry you. That's not how it works."
"So give them back right now, or else!" Dipper threatened with the shovel pointed at Jeff. Chloe held the bat and said, "You got three seconds, pal."
"You think that you kids can stop us?" Jeff questioned the people standing over them. He then warned, "You have no idea what we're capable of. The Gnomes are a powerful race!"
The four gave the Gnome a questioning look as he continued, "Do not trifle with the…"
But Dipper stopped him midsentence when he scooped up the Gnome with the shovel. Jeff cried out when Dipper tossed him aside. Chloe shook her head, "Powerful, my foot!"
"Dipper, free Mabel and Stan!" Avery shouted to her cousin. Dipper ran up to the captured two before using the shovel to cut through their bindings. When both Mabel and Stan were free, they fought off the Gnomes when they tried to capture them again. They all made their way back to the cart as Jeff sat up. He became angry and got up again, "They're getting away with our queen! No, no, no!"
"Seatbelts." Tyler said when they were all on board. When they were all buckled in, Avery said, "Go, Tyler!"
Tyler sped backwards out of the Gnomes hiding spot before turning around. The other Gnomes tried to catch up with them while Jeff watched them get away. The Gnome shook with anger as he said, "You've messed with the wrong creatures, kids." He shouted out into the forest, "Gnomes of the forest, assemble!"
All the other Gnomes turned to Jeff while others started to appear from behind mushrooms, trees and other places of the woods. They all gathered around Jeff and then came together. Some hopped up onto the hats of other Gnomes before linking up arms with the Gnomes beside them. The construct they were making kept getting bigger and bigger with Jeff at the top.
The cart sped back onto the path with Mabel, Chloe, Stan and Avery keeping watch behind them. Not wanting to get caught again, Mabel said to Tyler, "Hurry before they come after us!"
"I wouldn't worry about it." Dipper shook his head. Then he laughed when he said, "Did you see their little legs? Them suckers are tiny!"
But the sound of loud stomping caused Tyler to hit the brakes. The stomping grew closer and a shadow was cast over the cart. They all looked back to see what it was and everyone's eyes widened at the sight. Mabel, Stan and Chloe all uttered a single word, "Dang."
What they were seeing was a large construct of Gnomes made of the smaller ones. From his perch high up, Jeff was sitting on one Gnome hat while holding two others. Then he said to his fellow Gnomes, "All right, teamwork, you guys. Like we practiced!"
The Gnomes were able to move in sync with each other as the construct raised its large arms and gave a roar. The Gnome construct then looked to crush them under its large fist when it raised it. Avery shook her brother, "Move, move!"
Tyler once again put it in gear before putting the pedal to the metal just before the hand came down. They were able to move out of the way when it came down and some of the smaller Gnomes came off. They quickly came back together before the construct gave chase with Jeff shouting, "Come back with our queen!"
"You know, they're surprisingly able to move well together." Stan commented as they went up and down the bumpy roads. Mabel looked back and said, "I'll say, it's getting closer."
The Gnome construct growled as it continued to chase them. Jeff moved the hat on his left and the construct launched a few Gnomes that were looking a little wild with sharp pointy teeth. Some missed while one landed on the roof of the cart. It tore off a piece of the fabric and violently shook it before Stan hopped up and was able knock the Gnome off without even really touching it. One Gnome came down next to Mabel, and she and Stan both ducked when Chloe swung the bat. The blow sent the Gnome flying through the forest. Another Gnome, Shmebulock, came down behind Tyler. But the teen was able to reach behind him and smashed the Gnome against the steering wheel a couple of times, honking the horn in the process. The Gnome gave a pained word, "Shmebulock…"
Tyler smashed him against the wheel once more before letting the Gnome fall away. Another Gnome landed on the hood of the cart before leaping at Dipper with a feral screech. He screamed as it started scratching up in the face. Mabel raised a fist and shouted, "I'll save you, Dipper!"
She started punching it in the side, but might have also ended up hitting Dipper a little considering both were making pained grunts. Then she gave a big punch that knocked the Gnome off her brother's face but ended up making Dipper lose his hat in the process. The Gnome groaned as he tumbled across the ground before disappearing in a bush. Stan, Avery, Chloe and Tyler were wincing at Dipper as he sounded dazed when he said, "Thanks, Mabel!"
"Don't mention it." Mabel said as her brother massaged his aching face. They went across the path at the beginning of the story and it once again came to an end when the Gnome construct ripped the tree from the ground and hurled it ahead of the cart. The tree flew over the cart. Mabel pointed ahead and shouted, "Tyler, look out!"
Tyler turned the wheel to make the cart swerve and not hit the tree. Everyone screamed as the cart went sliding in front of the Mystery Shack. Tyler lost control of it and it fell on its side. Everyone groaned as they crawled out of the wrecked golf cart. Tyler looked about and asked, "Everyone okay?"
"I think that a few of my organs have been rearranged." Dipper commented. But with a thumbs up he said, "But other than that, I'm good."
"Same." The other four said. But they couldn't relax when thumping foot prints came up to them. They looked up to see the Gnome construct standing there. Fearful for him and his family, Dipper warned, "Stay back, man!"
Picking up the shovel, Dipper threw it like a spear but it was futile as the Gnome crushed it under his fist. All six screamed as they huddled close together. Dipper looked to them and asked, "Uh, where's Grunkle Stan?"
"Really wish that he was here right now." Chloe said.

Currently inside the shack, Stanford Pines was busy entertaining a group of tourists. In his hand he held something under a cloth, "Behold…" He removed the cloth and revealed a toy with a pull string and a spinning piece, "The world's most distracting object!"
Everyone was amazed when he pulled the string and it started spinning. Grunkle Stan then dared, "Just try to look away from it, you can't!"
But as they all continued to watch while the string moved back into place, all smiles dropped as their train of thoughts were all on the object. Even Stan was mesmerized by it but was able to say, "I can't even remember what I was talking about."

Back outside, the kids were still being cornered by the Gnome construct. Jeff said from his perch, "It's the end of the line, kids!" Then he warned the potential queen, "Mabel, marry us before we do something crazy!"
"There's gotta be some kind of way out of this." Dipper said trying to think. Tyler stood at the ready, "We won't let them take you, Mabel."
Fearing for her family's safety and noticing something in the bush, Mabel started to form a plan. She became determined and moved past them, "I gotta do it."
"What?" Everyone said and looked to her. Chloe grabbed her cousin's arm and said, "Mabel, you can't do this. You'll have to defend gardens from witches and trolls."
"What?" Everyone, including the Gnomes, questioned and looked to her. Avery then commented, "Chloe, you watch way too much T.V."
"But Mabel, don't do this!" Dipper urged her. Mabel turned to her brother and asked him and her cousins, "Dipper, guys, just trust me."
"Wait, what?" They asked, not understanding. Mabel looked to them, placed a hand over her mouth and repeated, "Please, just this once, trust me."
Dipper started thinking about their conversation from earlier as he looked between his sibling and the Gnomes. Even the other four remembered and decided to at least trust what she was doing. They all took a step back and out of the Gnome construct's shadow. Mabel looked to the top and said, "All right, Jeff. I'll marry you."
"Hot dog!" Jeff shouted with glee and the Gnome construct shook the ground with a stomp. He started climbing down the construct, "Help me down there, Jason. Thanks so much, Andy. All right, left foot, there we go. Watch those fingers, Mike."
He disappeared into the construct before emerging from the foot. He walked right up to Mabel and presented her with the ring again. Pointing to it he said, "Eh? Eh?"
Mabel put on a smile as she closed her eyes and turned her head before holding out her left hand. Jeff placed the ring on her finger. Mabel took a look at the ring as Jeff happily said, "Bada-bing, bada-bam! Now let's get you back into the forest honey."
"You may now kiss the bride." Mabel said before he could take a step. Dipper, Avery, Stan, Tyler and Chloe all looked to each other in confusion. Taking it as a sign, Jeff felt pretty good when he glanced back at her, "Well! Don't mind if I do."
He leaned to her and puckered his lips. Mabel puckered her lips and looked to be leaning forward as well. But just a few inches from the Gnome's face, she leaned back and flipped the switch on the leaf blower. She picked it up and pointed it at the Gnome. Backing away fearfully, Jeff tried to ease the tension, "Hey, hey, wait a minute."
Her brother, cousins and Stan were all surprised by this turn of events. Even the other Gnomes were shocked by this. Jeff tried to run away from leaf blower as it was in reverse, "What's going on?"
But he was pulled in and got stuck in the tube. Mabel glared down at the Gnome when she said, "That's for lying to me!"
Jeff was able to wriggle to where he was looking at Mabel. Mabel flipped the switch to give the blower more power in reversal, "That's for breaking my heart!"
"Ow! My face!" Jeff cried out as he was pulled deeper into the leaf blower. Mabel glanced back to Dipper, Stan and her cousins and said with a smirk, "And this is for messing with my family!"
They pointed the readied Gnome launcher at the construct. It gave a loud groan in shock. Mabel asked them, "Wanna do the honors!"
"On three!" Dipper shouted as they all put a hand on switch. They all shouted, "One, two, three!"
On three they flipped it to the forward setting and it launched Jeff out of the leaf blower. The force of the shot knocked the six into the bush while the Gnome caused the giant Gnome construct to bust apart. Jeff screamed as he flew through the air, "I'll get you all back for this!"
Dipper, Mabel, Avery, Stan, Tyler and Chloe watched as the leader of the Gnomes disappeared back into the forest. They began laughing when they watched the other Gnomes ran down. They were in disarray as one asked, "Who's giving the orders? I need orders!"
"My arms are tired." Another Gnome said as he moved it around. But they weren't given a moment to collect themselves as Mabel used the leaf blower to chase them away. The others had smirks on their faces as Dipper asked, "Anyone else wants some?"
Stan started helping by barking at the Gnomes who screamed in fear before running off back to the forest. One running Gnome got caught in a plastic drink holder and whimpered when he couldn't get loose. The goat picked up the drink holder with a bleat before running off. The Gnome screamed as the goat took him who knows where. Everyone started heading into the Mystery Shack when Mabel said, "Hey, Dipper, guys, I um… I'm really sorry for ignoring your advice." She sounded really dejected when she said, "You all really were just looking out for me."
"I wouldn't worry about, Mabel." Chloe said with a grin. Dipper was in agreement, "Yeah, don't be like that. You totally saved our butts back there!"
"And the way you handled it was so awesome." Tyler added with a laugh. Mabel still looked sad as she plucked a leaf from her hair, "I guess that I'm just sad that my first boyfriend turned out to be a bunch of Gnomes."
"Look on the bright side." Dipper tried to reassure, 'Maybe the next one will be a vampire."
"There's always hope." Avery shrugged with a big grin on her face. Mabel chuckled and said, "You guys are just saying that!"
"Bring it in, you guys." Stan said and the six embraced, or did their best as it wasn't that easy for Stan. Then they all patted each other on the back, "Pat. Pat."
"Now, let's get inside. I'm beat." Tyler said. Avery agreed, "No argument there."
"But since we're done with the whole Norman thing…" Mabel said as she remembered, "We still need to talk about Stan here."
"Uh, fine." Avery said as she went through the explanation once again.
They opened the door to the shack with Mabel saying, "Okay, my lips are sealed."
"Sealed about what?" Grunkle Stan said from behind the counter. They all looked to see counting the money. Dipper closed the door with a light kick. Mabel quickly said, "Mostly about girl things."
"Fair enough." Grunkle Stan shrugged, hardly caring. But then taking a look at his nieces and nephews he asked, "Sheesh! You all get hit by a bus or something?"
But they didn't give in to his jokes as they walked to the door to the rest of the house. Stan, feeling a little bad, called out to them, "Hey!" They stopped and turned to him as he said, "Wouldn't you know it? I accidentally overstocked some of the inventory, so, how's about each of you take one item from the gift shop, on the house, you know?"
"Really?" Mable asked very hopeful. Avery was slightly impressed when she said, "That's very big of you, Grunkle Stan."
"But what's the catch?" Dipper questioned as they knew that their uncle always had one. Their great uncle looked annoyed as he put all the money together and said, "The catch is do it before I change my mind. Now go on and take something."
With a nudge from his elbow, Grunkle Stan opened the register while everyone looked about. They all made sure to quickly look about the shop. Dipper came upon a rack of hats with a pine tree on them. He placed one on his head before testing it out. Feeling satisfied he tapped the bill and said, "That ought to do the trick."
"This scarf isn't too bad." Avery said when she picked up a Mystery Shack scarf from a box. Tyler picked up a really nice-looking comb that had the town name engraved into it. He smiled as he tried out, "This is a really good comb."
"Ooh, a Grunkle Stan doll!" Chloe shouted as she picked up a Mister Mystery bobble head. Stanford looked to his niece and said, "Kid, that ain't a doll!" Gesturing to it he said, "It's a- Aw, forget it!"
Stan the Dog happened to find an old shoe. Stanford looked to the dog and said, "I don't think that the customer who lost that is gonna be happy that you have it, Stan."
But when the dog gave a whine, Grunkle Stan's expression changed. Waving it off he said, "But since he left it here, it's his loss."
Stan the Dog gave a happy bark. Mabel gasped before saying, "And I will have a," She reached into the box before pulling out a, "grappling hook!
"Yes!." She said as everyone looked to each other with worried or confused glances. Grunkle Stan then asked her, "Wouldn't you rather have, like a doll or what Chloe's got."
But Mabel fired the grappling hook and it caught on to the beam above her. It pulled her up and she ended up knocking a few boxes over. She seemed pretty happy with it as she dangled, "Grappling hook!"
"Fair enough!" Grunkle Stan said, content while the others were still unsure.
Much later that evening, all the children and Stan were getting ready for bed. Chloe was playing with her new toy, Tyler was looking over his phone, Avery was reading a book, Mabel was jumping on her bed and Dipper was righting in the journal. He was thinking as he wrote, "This journal told me that there was no one in Gravity Falls that I could trust."
He thought back to Avery's words earlier and then their adventure with all six of them, "But when you battle a hundred Gnomes side by side with some people and a talking dog, you realize that they've probably always got your back."
The sound of Mabel cocking her grappling hook made them all look to her. She fired before it impaled her stuffed toy tiger and brought it back to her. She looked to them and had an impressed grin. Dipper then asked, "Hey, Mabel, could get the light?"
"I'm on it." Mabel said as she readied the grappling hook again and took aim at the lamp. She fired it and it ended up knocking the lamp out the window. She sounded proud when she said, "It worked!"
Everyone started laughing from it. Mabel drew the rope back as she chuckled, "Grappling hook."
"But next time, maybe turn off the light without the grappling hook." Avery suggested. Mabel shrugged with a half smirk, "Fine."
"Our uncle told us that there was nothing strange about this town." Dipper narrated. Avery added, "But given what we've seen so far, we know that there's more out there."
Down below the kids' room, Stan was entering the gift shop. He was starting to head in to the house portion of the shack when he stopped by the vending machine.
"And we'll be waiting to see what other secrets are just waiting to be unlocked." Stan the Dog finished.
Grunkle Stan entered a code by pressing a few buttons on the vending machine. When he finished, the vending machine opened a little and revealed a secret passage way. Stanford entered and looked about with narrowed eyes before closing the hidden door. The machine flickered a bit before turning completely off.
Outside the Mystery Shack, a brown paw stepped onto the parking lot of the tourist trap. A German Shepard came out from the shadows of the forest and looked to the broken window of the second floor before saying, "It begins."
End Credit Scene
The Gnome that was kicked by Mabel fell to the ground. He groaned as he rose back onto his feet before vomiting up a rainbow. They rainbow didn't stop flowing from the Gnome's mouth as he stood hunched. From behind the Gnome, the kids and Stan stood there. Stan didn't look away as he asked, "How long can he keep doing that?"
"I want to look away, but I can't." Tyler said as the Gnome continued barfing up the rainbow. Stan walked up to the barfing Gnome and was about to sniff it when Avery called out, "Stan!"
"Sorry, I was curious." Stan said before walking away from the barfing Gnome.

Author's Note: And with that, the first episode of one of my Gravity Falls crossovers is complete. I've been wanting to do this like so many other fanfics. And yes, I've got something on the side planned for this little series. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
