BNHA: Mysterious Feline
Chapter 2: Gun Fight!
A/N: Guys, I need to take a REALLY long break from writing... I mean LONG too. I'm unhealthy and I need to get back into shape... My problems need to come to an end, I'm tired of this.
I've been super dizzy for the past couple of weeks and sleep apnea suddenly kicked in, so I need to do something. I don't know how long i'll be away, but until I'm healthier I can't go back to writing. No matter the withdraws I have from not writing, I have to fight it. I need to make some room for working out so that means cutting off my writing for a few to several months; I hope you can understand. ): P.S: I'm not discontinuing, I'm putting this on a hold for a while until further notice. This Author's note will be removed once I come back. Thank you all for reading this, for this is an important notice so no one will think I'm dead. XD~~~~~~~~~
After about another hour or so that passed, the Feline had already returned to the shack and prepared for the switch. The sound of the gentle waves could be heard through the walls of the building, as she laid there on her back full of thoughts.
Those thin cat slits gazed endlessly at the ceiling, her mask was taken off and her outfit was changed. She knew Vei would find it annoying to have to change into her clothes, so Rin thought it'd be respectful to do so instead. Being far away from home and in an unknown land could cause an understandable amount of confusion for anyone, even the smartest of people.
Her attire consisted of a hair clip, that dangled down past her jawline. The hair clip had a strange, large, oblong bead that had a feather attached to a string at the bottom. Her black hair reached to the middle of her back, bangs that curved around her face on the right side and the other side of her face had bangs tucked behind her left ear; where that cat toy-like clip resided.
A pair of blue-rimmed sunglasses laid on the floor to the side of the old bed, and with a slow raise of her hand, the hair clip was soon removed and placed next to the cat toy-like accessory. She changed her mind about wearing it to bed, her hair would get stuck in the clip. The lenses of her sunglasses were dim but weren't pitch black, so it'd still be possible for her eyes to be seen if they were worn.
A long-sleeved dress shirt, a dark blue tie, and a black vest that hid the tie's tip underneath were what she wore. Around her vest, though, was a dark blue corset, it exposed her curves nicely and the sleeves on the dress shirt were rolled up to show her forearms. Her hands were covered up by thin black gloves and the bottoms she wore were shorts. Dark blue thigh socks reached just above her knees, as heelless black leather boots with buckles on the sides sat near the door.
Her straight stare never left the ceiling before the gradually fluttered closed, only to have one thought to echo. We need to go home... though, it was a low, almost monotonous voice, it still carried a hint of worry.
~~~Morning~~~
Minutes turned into hours, as the moon slowly fell, to let the morning sun have its turn. Through the cracks of the shake, beamed rays of the fireball in the sky, caused an annoyed groan to resonate.
A pair of squinting, closed eyes, reluctantly opened before she turned to her side. The warmth of the rays warmed her backside, which was odd to her since the window in her bedroom wasn't that close...to...
The woman's eyes were soon revealed when they snapped open and lit up with surprise, her cat slits were much wider than before. In a jolt, she sat up, mouth agape upon examining her surroundings and the old bed she felt beneath her fingertips. She was lost for words, nothing but sputters of inaudible speech fell from her lips.
Left, to right, her eyes looked everywhere. She was beyond confused, until, a letter was spotted laying next to her boots. "W- What's going on, where am I...?" A bit freaked-out, she quickly stood from the bed and looked around the shack.
It took her some time to calm her nerves, so she could focus on the idea of reading the letter. When the woman finally did, a short turn of her heel she walked to the door to pick it up. Unspoken words moved her lips as she scanned its contents-
Vei, I have some bad news for you. As I was heading to the location Genos, Saitama, and everyone was told to meet up at, some sort of odd event took place. I was sucked through a fissure in the air and I did my best to get back home... Be wary if you run into another crack and stay clear of them until we can find some kind of information. I've noted some places we could try looking, head to this school called U.A and see if there's anything there. If not, search elsewhere with higher-tier sciences that hold information on portals and the like. I doubt many will be kind enough to let you look around without supervision. We cannot let anyone know of our dilemma; I believe we are in a different world, so be sure to avoid any unnecessary violence... I know how your temper can get out of hand, sometimes.
Side note- I heard some kids mention something about quirks, be careful- Vei. Neither of us knows what's in this world or its dangers, we must take cautionary measures. Signed: Rin.
Gritted teeth came from the growing anger she felt, as disbelief befell Vei's face before the letter was stuffed into her shorts. Her gloved fists tightened at the letter's contents, before picking up her boots and pulling them on. "My temper? You don't understand how bad my temper is right now...! Out of all times, something like this happens?!" Rushed feet moved toward the bed so she could pick up her sunglasses and hair clip.
Vei's sunglasses slipped over her nose bridge to hide her slits and with a simple snap of her clip, the bead dangled loosely to the side of her hair. "Our stuff's here somewhere- She probably found a spot to hide them," With haste, she explored the room, lifted little bits of the flooring and hoped to find hidden hatches in the walls.
Nothing- Though, when she turned around to face the bed, her eyes looked up and saw a compartment just above it. An annoyed humph escaped from her closed mouth before climbing and reaching for the compartment. Inside, Vei reached, pulling out their suitcases full of clothing and weapons.
Not too much longer they opened. The black and white striped outfit of Rin's was in one case, while the metallic claws for feet and hands laid next to the guns inside the other case. Vei's hand gently touched her spazz shotgun and the blue sniper rifle, gradually closing it from the anger she couldn't help but feel.
"Where did those stupid fissures come from, anyway? The very definition of Curiosity killed the cat explains her a tiny bit, but that went too far! Sheesh," From the case, her guns were taken out with both hands and she pondered on which to take with her. "I don't know anything about this world, so I think both of these guns would help..." her harsher voice, which sounded a lot different than Rin's, trailed off at the end and put the rifle back in the case.
"Whatever, I guess I could just carry it with me," Vei removed Rin's claws to make more room and decided to put her shotgun inside as well. "Better to carry them both in this case, I don't want anyone thinking I'm a bad guy. I don't know what this world's like so I don't want any crap from people. Hide my guns but keep them with me in this case, yea, not suspicious at all," With a roll of her eyes and a shut of her case, the woman flung it over her shoulder so she could hold onto it by its handle.
From the twist of the doorknob and the faint thuds of her boots, Vei exited the shack and adjusted the sunglasses. "Alright, now, that school Rin mentioned- Where was it again?" Her head turned to look around, as she strode through the sands on the beach and walked up a hill that led to some railings by the road. Even though there was a staircase leading down to the beach, she just chose to hop over the metal railing.
The sun beamed brightly on her naturally, pale complexion, as spots of warmth in her skin showed how hot it truly was. "Shit... It's hot out," From a turn of her heel, she casually wandered down the side of the road with her fingers hooking to a belt loop on her shorts. She could feel the soft texture of the feather brush her cheek as she walked and the bead bounced with each step.
However, police sirens wailed in the distance which perked her head, so quickly she ran and jumped really high into the air. As if it were on cue, a car came driving behind her and drove underneath before she landed on its roof.
Vei had crouched on one knee, with her free hand that kept her balanced. This car's heading where the sirens are at. So I bet you anything, that they're close to a city. Annoyance could be heard in her mind, as it drove past a sign that said the name of the city just ahead of the road. Musutafu, huh? Weird name, but, whatever. Past several cars and neighboring buildings alongside the street, eventually the car came to a slow stop and gave her enough time to hop off.
Honks sounded off around her, once she jogged across the street and used one of the noses of another car to give herself a boost. High into the air, within a second, the same afterimage Rin would use on occasion appeared in her place and faded just as fast.
Vei sprinted across rooftops and leaped over gaps, what she didn't expect was for a beefy blonde man clad in a blue and red hero costume, to show up. Blue eyes surrounded by a shade under his brows, locked onto hidden green ones as he passed her through the air. "The hell?" Her gaze widened with astonishment before they squinted. Quickly, she moved as fast as Rin would, another afterimage appeared and disappeared. Now her feet moved at a blinding pace and in her peripherals, she could see the huge man in blue gaining on her.
The sight of him urged her to push on faster, but it was useless, he somehow bolted further ahead than her with a push of his foot off of another building. The man was gliding at a faster rate, it annoyed the feline to the point of copying him. Vei leaped off from the edge of the roof with one strong jump and as she glided, her body twisted around like a cat so she could land on her feet.
Little to no damage was felt since the shock-absorption in her legs prevented broken bones. At the crime scene stood a monster who thrashed its large arms around and crushed the sides of buildings, in midst of its roars. Seriously? That's what the commotion was about? Irritation made one of her hidden eyes twitch as she spoke in her mind. In the distance from the monster stood cameramen and a news reporter, informing the watchers of the crime.
What was weird, was that the big man stood afar so he could watch her; it was odd to him, her using her speed to try and fun faster than him made his curiosity grow. Quickly, after the man in blue kept his distance to observe, Vei put her suitcase down and opened it.
Out came her blue sniper rifle and a few explosive rounds, it wasn't long until she popped the bullets in. Just above her head was a long flag pole sticking out from the side of the building, so she hopped with one hand to grasp the pole and lift herself up; the case was left on the ground so she could focus better. The high-quality scope, on her rifle, made it easy for her to see the angry monster when one hand raised it to her eye level.
As soon as it began to thrash about more, her finger pulled back the trigger, and out came the deadly bullet. Past many crowded citizens that stayed a long distance away from the two, the bullet dug into the beast's skull with a disperse of power; which made some of the building's structure crumble around it. A loud boom echoed and made many bystanders cover their eyes, with shrieks of shock accompanying the sound.
The huge man in blue stared with surprise with his gleaming blue hues, as he watched the monster fall to the ground with a heavy thud. Blood pooled around the body where its head once was and it caused a huge panic among the surrounding people.
The people scrambled like ants as they fled and Vei simply watched, with a shake of her head. "Wow, even people in this world are stupid. As long as the monster's dead, why panic like that?" a groan escaped her lips after her rifle was propped over her shoulder; she jumped off of the pole so she could put her rifle away.
As she did so, when her...case closed (lol! XD), a voice behind her made any plans of leaving, halt. "You killed a citizen who lost control of his quirk! You must turn yourself in or face the consequences!" furious and full of fear, a man behind her yelled with an accusing finger in her direction.
From over her shoulder, there she saw a man who shook like a leaf, with a threatening glare from behind her shades. Slowly, she turned to fully face him now, as her case laid over her shoulder where it once sat and kept her hand on its handle. "How was I supposed to know...?" anger laced her voice before she walked away. "I'm not a friggin' psychic!" her voice rose from the ever-growing distance and didn't notice the tall man clad in blue, from afar, follow behind.
"You committed murder upon an innocent civilian who couldn't control his quirk!" Anger could be heard in his voice and not once did his finger lower; so as quickly as he could, his cellphone was pulled out of his pocket and punched a number in.
Vei didn't care too much if he was calling the police or something, in fact, no care at all for the devastated citizens could be seen.
However, from the rooftop, the large man wearing his blue and red costume kept his glowing eyes upon her distant frame. It was clear that thoughts swirled in his mind like a hurricane, because, not even the phone's buzz from his back pocket was noticed.
Though, when recognition finally came, he nearly gasped before his phone was soon brought to his ear. "Hello?" an inaudible voice spoke, which caused him to listen carefully and keep his attention on the woman in the distance. "Yes, I've noticed it too," he answered promptly as he stood there with one hand on his hip. The blonde continued to listen, just to answer another question they supposedly asked.
"She somehow moved really fast, I believe it was her quirk. It was like...an image of some kind that only lasted for a couple of seconds," answered the hero whose natural grin remained wide and static. "Why did she hitch a ride on your car?" Curious, this time, it was his turn to ask and receive an answer, that made his phone lower a fraction. "So that's why they called. This woman acts like she knows what she's doing... Suspicious," mumbled the last part, until a few inaudible words from his phone occurred before they hung up.
"Is it weird, that she moves like a cat?" despite, there being no one around to ask, he still did so and eventually left the rooftop when steam began to escape his body.
~~~Later~~~
Later that day, Vei had wandered around the city with many eyes upon her frame and explored as much as she could. Unlike Rin, she wasn't aware of someone in the shadows on her tail. Hey, Rin? You awake? When the woman questioned in her mind, no response was given, only silence. Rin! Don't tell me you're tired, you slept as much as I did... I need your instincts just in case something's gonna happen. Again, quietness floated around her mind until she finally answered.
Yes, Vei... You've read my letter and my side note. I was up most of the night looking for answers and only found a little bit. But you're right, I'm not as tired as I thought I'd be. Rin's mental reply only made a grumble escape Vei, she was rather annoyed.
So- Any warnings yet? In her head, Vei asked, but received a moments' silence for a little while until an answer was given.
I don't sense any levels of hostility directed toward you, but be cautious, Vei. Do you remember the last time I was caught off guard? Someone didn't have any intentions of harming me that night, but they still managed to catch me by surprise. If no levels of hostility are detected, then you must keep a watchful eye if anyone's doing the same to you. I believe I told you about Igilous, Gratta Quall's henchman, who did exactly that long ago. Rin explained to her as she wandered down a sidewalk.
Yeah, yeah, I know. The smoker, who finally decided to stop obeying that jerk and was set free by Genos. I was actually surprised when I heard he showed that redhead mercy. Vei answered, with a faint smirk pulling on her mouth.
He's merciful to some extent. I miss his comforting arms, to be honest... Rin's quiet voice echoed with longing and became lost in thought, until, her instincts picked up. Vei, hostility has risen from above you. As calm as ever, she warned and made Vei's slits glance up to look for any signs of threat.
On a distant water tower stood a strange person whose gender was difficult to make out. Although, shrouded by a cloak, stood a figure that aimed a rifle at her head. A spike in their hostility, they're going to shoot! Rin exclaimed and watched through Vei's eyes as she sprinted to hide behind a wall of a building.
Quickly, her shotgun and rifle were pulled out so she could fight. The case was left on the sidewalk hidden away inside a bush, so that no one could find it, and propped the Sniper rifle over her shoulder.
High over the building, Vei jumped, using her inhuman strength and speed to race after the sniper in the distance. She was too far away to see the person's eye that peeked through the scope, to widen with surprise.
As fast as their hands could lift, their rifle aimed at the woman who seemed to move much faster than what their eyes could handle. So, much like anyone would do in their situation, they shot a bullet that flew past some strands of her hair.
When they saw it miss, they jumped off of the water tower and used their quirk. A flat, transparent, distorted surface around their feet appeared before they ran through the air; it was as though they were sprinting across the land.
Damn! Vei's swore echoed before she abruptly halted and leaped from the building, high above the street, with an afterimage fading as fast as it came. She used her speed to catch up to the person who tried to retreat, yet, a quick spin was all she needed to do.
A harsh swing of her leg in her spin, hit their head to make them strongly crash into an apartment roof below. However, she almost didn't see the flying bullet when it scraped her cheek after her head moved. They managed to send another bullet after her before they crashed, so as Vei hovered there for a couple of seconds-
Her rifle's scope lifted over her eye to aim where they crashed, but the dust cloud made it hard to see. As she fell, the sight of a laser gleaming through the flown debris alarmed her of their aim.
This time she chose to flip around in the air and was lucky that she did since countless bullets sprayed from the distance. As soon as Vei landed, the feline sprinted at the speed of sound and left an afterimage behind. She never expected the culprit to race after her with a machine gun.
Over a car and across the wall of a building, next to the one her opponent ran out of, it all happened too fast for them when her shotgun was shoved into their mouth. Her feet stomped onto their chest after a swift land and made them both soar backward.
Her opponent was strongly slammed into a nearby tree when her shotgun's trigger was pulled. An ear-deafening sound rang through the air as blood splattered the tree, around their feet, and the pavement; some even trickled down her face. Many citizens screamed in horror at the sight, despite the woman who ignored their frantic behavior. It was a gruesome sight to behold for the many people around her.
Heavy breaths, Vei panted as she stood there with her eyes upon the fresh corpse. "Take what you get, for trying to kill me," annoyance could be heard in her mumbled words.
From the same water tower, the opponent ran from, stood a man clad in a bartender's outfit and a shady man next to him. Vei didn't notice the dark, misty man in those clothes who kept a portal open, for the shady man next to him to go into.
"So, she killed the guy, huh? It was surprising to see someone who's not even a licensed hero, kill an enraged citizen who lost control of their quirk. Heroes will be after her, for sure," the misty man stared upon her distant frame, when she shook off the blood, that sprayed her boot and walked away. "I'm guessing, sending that guy after her, will stir the news like a swarm of bees," he added, before watching the man next to him halt for a moment in front of the portal.
"After hearing the news that appeared at the crime scene moments ago, I wanted her tested. The way she moved was exactly as Dabi described, about the other woman," a smooth, almost monotonous voice, answered the misty man before entering the portal.
"She didn't move as much as we hoped, but there was one thing that she and the other woman had in common... The weird image, Dabi told us about," The other guy had done the same, after trailing off at the end, following the other with the portal closing behind them.
