Chapter I

Rodan Escort, Mt. Api, Fiji

It was a fairly quiet day in Fiji. The native people were going about their business as always, the tourists were taking photos of Mount Api, and the members of the newly christened Rodan Escort were doing the standard daily checkup on the Fire Demon.

"How's his acoustics, Hank?" Dr. Micheal Faraday asked.

"Everything's working as expected," Dr. Henry Joul replied, "but something's wrong."

"What is it?"

"His temperature is down to a thousand degrees. His armor is hardening up."

"That's odd. This hasn't happened before."

"Well, his body temperature goes down by a hundred when he's sleeping," Dr. Gina Hardwell said, "but he's wide awake, and this temperature is two hundred degrees below standard."

"You're right," Faraday agreed. "Is he depressed?"

"Maybe," Henry said. "He seems to be the last of his kind, so maybe he misses his family."

Rodan screeched a warning at the Three-Headed Devil, warning him to stay away from his mate. When Ghidorah ignored the warning, Rodan took off and flew directly into the Dragon's chest.

Ghidorah screamed at the pain that Rodan was causing him. The bright orange flames that covered Rodan's feather's burned at a hot enough temperature to melt rock, and the phosphorous that fueled the fire also fell onto Ghidorah's skin.

However, as much of an edge Rodan had against the Three-Headed Terror, he was no match for Ghidorah's three heads and Gravity Beams. His mate flew in to try and help, but she was too late. He was already falling to the volcano.

The last thing Rodan saw before he fell into the lava was his mate being torn apart by the Three-Headed Devil.

Mt. Api, Fiji, Present Day

Rodan's body twitched as he remembered that fateful day. He had tried to forget about it, but when he learned of Ghidorah's return, he became so enraged that he tried to kill the Dragon again. Maybe, with his new rocky armor, he could throw the Dragon to the ground.

Alas, he still had no power. Even with Mayura and Garuda's help, he failed, and was forced to bow to save his own life.

He would never forget his first mate, the one who supported him when he left the flock of his birth. The one who shared everything with him. The one who wanted to start a flock with him.

He could never find love again.

"That does seem the logical answer," Dr. Kyoichiro Kashiwagi agreed. "What do you think? Should we try and find him a friend?"

"Well, he's an Earth Titan, and he helped kill Ghidorah," Micheal said. "It's only fair that we try to help him out."

An alarm blared on Henry's computer. He pulled up the face of Dr. Jonathan Hudson.

"Dr. Hudson!" Henry greeted. "What's the situation?"

"Outpost 56 has been overrun by giant insects," Jon answered. "Me and Dr. Stanton are making sure that the Titans are staying where they are."

"Rodan is completely still, but he's going through a bout of depression. He's not ging anywhere anytime soon."

"Insects, you say?" Dr. Kashiwagi said. "Maybe I can help."

"We can use all the help we can get."
