So here`s chapter two. I`ll be putting Ember in the story as a more involved character in the upcoming chapters but here she is just introduced for a brief confrontation.
The next day had come and Danny was asleep in his chair with an empty beer bottle in his hand. When suddenly a loud thud shook the whole trailer and forced the boy awake. He held his head in pain. "Arrrgghh, Just what I need something to make my hangovers worse." While groaning he got up from the chair and walked to the doorway. Dani had also woken up and he saw her leave the trailer and followed. Dani stepped outside while Danny just leaned against the door with an annoyed expression on his face. "Welp! Today is the day I skin you alive and rest pelt at the foot of my bed!" Up in the sky of the ghost zone was its so called Greatest Hunter, Skulker. "Could you just go away?" Danny asked in a annoyed tone of voice. "Uhh... What?" Skulker`s eyes widen slightly in confusion. 'The ghost boy has been missing for a year, I had assumed he would have been living in the human world and spent all my free time searching there. Then I learned he was living here in the Ghost Zone, the last place I ever expected a half ghost to live in. Something is different about him. And I don`t think I like it.' Skulker`s thought ran wild before he shook his head of them and returned his focus to reality. "NO! I came here to collect your pelt." He said defiantly. Danny simply stared at him with a bored and unimpressed expression as he continued to lean against the doorway. "I grow tired of you Skulker." Danny looked towards his cousin who was floating in the air with a hostile glare aimed at Skulker. "Dani, get rid of him." He spoke as if it was like a house hold chore to which the younger halfa chuckled mischievously. "With pleasure."
Dani blasted at Skulker and dealt a good hit right off the bat. Danny went inside knowing his cousin was far stronger than Skulker could ever dream of being. He sat down at the table and poured himself a bowl of cereal, he stuck his fingers in the bowl eating it dry. He turned the living room TV on and saw the worst channel ever. Human world news. "President Vlad Master`s is proposing a plan to bring peace between nations." He scowled as the news anchor spoke of the person he hated the most in life as of the last year. 'This was all part of your plan. You turned me into a symbol of hatred and had me run out of Amity Park. Oh I remember how fast news got around about the evil ghost boy who orchestrated the destruction of Amity Park. And then you became the beloved advocate for humanity, vowing to hunt me down to the ends of the Earth.' As he was thinking bitter thoughts, Dani came in. "Skulker won`t be coming back for awhile." She nonchalantly said but noticed Danny glaring at the channel. She frowned and grabbed the remote turning it off. Danny looked at her. "Thanks." She nodded. "You should go outside and explore the zone." Dani proposed. "Pass. The new episode of Arrow is on soon." Danny rejected. "I`ll record it for you, just please do this... for me?" She held his hands and gave him the puppy dog eyes. Danny rolled his eyes in annoyance and sighed. "Fine. I`ll grab my coat." He walked off dejected as his cousin smiled knowing that he is finally getting out of this dingy trailer.
'What is there to even do?' Danny thought as he floated through the ghost zone when suddenly a ghost ray was fired at him. Dodging in the nick of time he looked up to see an old foe. "Dipstick, where you been? I haven`t seen you in an entire year." The ghost known as Ember McLain spoke in a tone of curiosity. Danny narrowed his eyes and charged at her, trying to punch her. Ember caught his fist. "Well aren`t you gonna say anything?" Danny responded by headbutting her and grabbing her by the leg before he he lifted her over his head and threw her. Ember did a graceful roll and turned to face him again. "Oh come on now. No jokes? No puns? No witty banter?" She raised a brow in confusion. "That`s the old me. That part of me is dead." He explained in a monotone voice. Ember raised a brow in confusion and concern. "Your starting to scare me Babypop? When did you become so dark? Your supposed to be the hero." She questioned. "I`m no hero anymore. Just ask Vlad. If Amity Park were to be overran by a ghost... I would not lift a finger to help." Ember`s eyes widen. 'Dipstick stopped being a hero?' He fired a ghost ray at the Ghost Rocker and blasted her while she was distracted. "You leave me alone. I leave you alone Ember. I`m sick of fighting people." He flew off leaving his foe very much confused.
Meanwhile Johnny and Kitty were flying through the ghost zone on Johnny`s bike, looking to go to the bar in the ghost zone. After sometime they had arrived at the bar and went inside going over to the corner booth to sit down. They both ordered some booze and began to unwind. "So Kitten, you wanna go for a ride in France tomorrow." Johnny asked as he slurped his beer down. Kitty didn`t respond leaving him to wonder why as she had a distant look on her face. "What`s got you down Kitten?" He asked with concern as he gently grabbed her hand. She shook her thoughts off upon noticing that she was lost in her own world. "Oh sorry Johnny. It`s just you know... I`m still worried about Danny." Johnny looked at her for a moment with a supportive nod. "Yeah the phantom punk has had it rough lately." Before they could continue to speak, the tavern doors opened revealing a new comer who was sporting a black unfastened Trench Coat and a familiar head of snow white hair. "Well speak of the devil." Johnny muttered with a sly grin. "Yo Phantom! Over here!" Danny turned his head to see Johnny waving him over to the corner. He walked over and took a seat next to the couple. "Danny." Kitty muttered softly under her breath as she looked down at her drink. She took it and poured it down her throat. The two ghost`s looked at her with slight concern. "Um Kitten. Maybe you should slow down. You know you can`t handle alcohol very we- annnd nevermind too late!" The green haired ghost girl promptly fell face first onto the table now passed out. The bartender walked over and before they could ask what Danny wanted. "I`ll take whatever can get me fucked up the quickest." The bartender nodded and walked off. "So how`s life been?" Johnny asked trying to keep spirits high. Danny slowly looked up at him. "What do you think?" Johnny frowned at the response. "I see." He looked down with a solemn expression. The bartender returned with Danny`s drink. "Well nothing a little drink can`t fix." Johnny raised his bottle optimistically, but Danny had little reaction to the gesture. "That`s just it Johnny. It doesn`t fix it. All it does is numb the pain and then it comes back later like a second migraine, but instead of my head, it`s my heart that aches." Danny spoke dejectedly as he stared into his mug. Johnny took a drink before speaking. "I know that you feel dead inside and like life is nothing but miserable." Danny raised a brow. "That`s putting it lightly." He said only for Johnny to continue. "But there`s still good in you somewhere. Don`t you remember the day you saved me and Kitten." Danny looked down. "Yeah. How could I forget?" He said as they began to remember.
One year ago
"Don`t look back Kitten. We gotta get out of here before they catch us." Johnny panicked as he was driving down the Arizona highway at top speeds, they were being chased by the GIW who had new weaponry meant to vaporize ghost`s and were riding what were essentially hovercycles. The GIW kept shooting. "Die you ectoscum!" As they were driving one of the GIW members landed a shot on their rear tire. Johnny`s bike began to spin out of control and they soon crashed into a rock on the side of the desert terrain. The GIW stopped in front and prepared to finish the couple. Johnny and Kitty closed their eyes in fear. Before anything else could happen, a green ghost ray was fired at the two GIW. The two ghost`s opened their eyes confused as to why they were not wiped from existence and looked up to see Danny in the air. "I`m sick of you assholes." He said as he then froze them solid with his ice powers.
"Danny? Why would you help us?" Kitty asked. "Why not? My life has gone to shit and every ghost hunter to ever live has me at the top of their list." Danny spoke without a care in the world. "Gone to what?" Johnny asked confused. With an annoyed sigh Danny rubbed his eyes. "My family is dead dude! And everyone thinks I helped destroy Amity Park!" He spoke exasperatedly. The couple`s eyes widen. "Oh my god. Danny I`m so sorry." A sympathetic Kitty wrapped her arms around the halfa causing his eyes to widen. 'Isn`t she my enemy?! Why is she hugging me?!' Kitty eventually separated and looked at him. "If everything you say is true then your not safe in the human world. You should come to the ghost zone. You can stay with us until we find you a place." Johnny choked on that last one. "Kitty I don`t think we have room fo-errrgh." Kitty gave a nasty look as if daring him to finish that sentence. "Hehe, actually I think we got space. It`d be cool to have another dude around." He spoke nervously. Danny was perplexed. "Why would you do that for me?" He had never been more thrown off by anything in his life. Johnny wrapped an arm around Danny. "Well it`s the least we could do for you. You saved our afterlives." Danny thought about it for a second. "I-I don`t know. I need to find my cousin Dani. She`s all I have left and she`s not any safer than me in this world." Danny scooted away from the two and prepared to fly off. Kitty placed a hand on his shoulder. "We`ll help you look for her. We can fit four in our place. Johnny died all over again when she said that. 'They better not be crappy guests.' He thought begrudgingly.
Back to the current time
The two ghost`s finished their thinking. "The truth is I didn`t really like the idea of you staying with us at first. I was kinda jealous actually. Because Kitty was paying more attention to you and Dani. But you started to grow on me over time." Johnny admitted. "I wasn`t too keen on it myself. The sympathy that Kitty showed me was beyond anything I could have expected." Danny spoke. "We`ll she cares for you like family... If I`m being honest I think she sympathizes with you so deeply because of something that happened while we were alive." Danny raised an eyebrow at that slightly intrigued. "And what would that be?" Jonny frowned. "You`d have to ask her yourself. It`s a touchy subject and not really my place to say." Danny took a sip of his beer. "Fair enough." Danny got up and left his money on the table for the beer. "Well it`s been a good talk Johnny, but I`m gonna head home now. Cya later." Danny decided to leave and right as he got to the door Johnny spoke again. "Oh alright bud. You should stop by the house sometime. Kitty and I never really see you anymore." Danny glanced at him for a second. "Sure thing I guess." And with that Danny left the bar, ready to return home.
And that`s the end of the chapter. Stay tuned to see what happens next.
