Chapter VII
Hawkins, Oregon
"So let me get this straight," Joyce said. "Eleven is a secret lab experiment, Minya is the son of Godzilla, and Will is in the Vale of Shadows?"
"Pretty much," Dustin confirmed, "though we don't know if Minya really is Godzilla's son, and we just call it the Vale."
"How do we get to the Vale?" Joyce asked.
"I think the Crypt can help us," Mike proposed. "If it came to our universe from the Vale, then there must be a way to get there through it."
"Yes," Eleven confirmed.
As they left the house, the sky became dark with the onset of a storm. Red lightning flashed and lit various dying trees on fire.
"What the hell is going on?!" Dustin yelled over the howling wind.
"Badness!" Eleven answered.
As if it heard her, the creature from the Crypt rose from the trees. It's form shifted slightly, as if it was made of liquid.
"What is that thing?!" Joyce yelled.
"Eleven called it the Badness!" Mike answered. "But we call it the Mind Flayer!"
The beast moved it's head to look at the group, and reached a tentacle out to grab them. However, a blast of blue fire stopped it in it's tracks.
Godzilla had arrived.
The King bellowed in anger at the presence of the Mind Flayer. He had had enough with aliens trying to invade his home. Today, he would make sure it ended.
The Mind Flayer extended one of it's arms and unleashed a torrent of red electricity at him. Godzilla pushed himself past the pain. It wasn't as intense as Ghidorah's Gravity Beams.
Godzilla tried to grab onto the Mind Flayer, but it's body was intangible and slipped out of his grasp. Godzilla was caught off guard by this. How did his Atomic Breath work against it?
He released another blast of atomic energy, causing the Flayer to coil it's arms around itself. Godzilla then realized that it was the heat that harmed it. He then built up his energy throughout his body until his skin was glowing blue.
Godzilla then used his superheated body to kill the supercolony of extraterrestrial wasps by the hundreds. The Mind Flayer tried to use it's electrical abilities to it's advantage, but Godzilla was not so easily deterred.
Finally, Godzilla unleashed a blast of his Atomic Breath on the Flayer's head. The colony then stopped completely, before falling to the ground as a black rain of dead wasps.
The group entered the Crypt with the intent of getting Will back. They passed scientists who fell victim to the Flayer's countless stings, including a white-haired man who Eleven called 'Bad Man.'
After being guided by Eleven for an unknown amount of time, they finally reached what appeared to be the Vale. The air was thick and plagued with spores. The vegetation was black and sickly, like everything was decaying.
"Will!" Joyce called out.
"Joyce," Dustin hushed. "You'll call the Demogorgon to us."
After looking for a while, they found Castle Byers, the fort that Will made with his brother. Inside was Will's sleeping form.
"Will!" Joyce called out, waking him.
"Mom?!" he said, before hugging his mother.
Finally, the group left the Vale. They entered one side of the Crypt, before coming out the other end,
to the Demogorgon.
It's body seemed to have healed in the time it was gone. The group had a feeling that, if this thing could express emotion, it would be angry.
Minya wasn't in a cheery mood, either.
The Prince screamed at the beast, who roared in kind as the two collided. The Demogorgon had grown stronger in the short amount of time that it was gone, but Minya was still stronger.
Minya twisted the Demogorgon's arm as it tried to tear at his skin, before swiping his own claws across it's chest. The gorgon screamed and tried to claw out his eye, but Minya's hand crushed it's wrist.
Minya was getting tired of fighting all day, so he decided to end it. He opened his jaws wide before closing them around it's neck. With the crushing pressure, the Demogorgon's windpipe collapsed. Minya then threw the monster back into the Crypt.
Suddenly, the building was set ablaze by blue fire. Minya looked up to see a familiar sight.
Godzilla.
The King looked down at the miniature version of himself. He recognized the energy it gave off from his fight with Titanosaurus.
Godzilla sniffed at it curiously, sensing it's past and it's heritage. He discovered that, not only was it a male, but it was actually Megara's son!
His son!
Minya seemed to sense this too, as he ran up to his snout and cuddled him. Godzilla closed his eyes as he felt a single tear trickle down his cheek. He had finally found his son.
Godzilla then rose up to his full height. He saw Minya interact with his human friends for a moment, even hugging a familiar girl, before running up to the King's tail. Minya clumsily climbed onto Godzilla's tail, a feat that Godzilla found rather impressive.
With his son in tow, Godzilla strode through the forest, careful not to destroy any human buildings. Soon enough, Godzilla was swimming to Monster Island with Minya on his back.
The group stood there as Minya left with his father. Joyce was hugging her son, and the Dustin's arms were hanging over his friend's shoulders.
"Hope he comes by for a visit in the future," Dustin said.
"Wishful thinking," Lucas said.
They were interrupted by the sound of rotors. Above them, a Monarch osprey lowered to the ground. When it landed, Monarch personnel flooded out to survey the area and take samples of the soil.
One of them, a tall teenager that seemed to be a grade or two higher than the boys, stopped and looked at them. Specifically, he looked at Eleven.
"Madison?" he asked.
Suddenly, a switch flicked in Eleven's mind. She recognized this boy, not just from her time in the Isolation Chamber, but from the past that was taken from her.
"Ken?" she replied.
The boy then ran up to her and wrapped her in his arms. Eleven, or rather, Madison was crying, and Ken was comforting her.
"It's OK, I'm here now," he said softly, patting her back gently. "I'm not letting you go again."
"Ken?" a man from the osprey called out. Ken looked behind him, and showed him the girl in his arms.
"Daddy?" Madison cried.
"Madison!"
Father and daughter reunited after three months of separation. Now, the only thing that could separate them was death itself.
