The group made their way over to the gym. Luigi and Ollie put their ears up to the two big doors to listen in.
"What do you hear?" asked Sam.
"It's a lot of muttering. Like creature noises." Ollie responded.
"From what it sounds like, it's a lot of them in there." Luigi added.
"How many toads did she make?" Mario asked puzzled, "I mean, surely you kids' teachers wouldn't allow her to make this many. Specially what happened the last couple of times." He twisted his fluffy mustache.
"These aren't like the other toads. Peach or whatever this thing is supercharged them and that gave them the ability to multiply." explained Sam.
"Goodness gracious." Luigi said nervously.
"Alright alright, how are we doing this? Are we going in swinging or what?" asked Ollie, getting pumped up for the upcoming fight.
"How do you guys normally do stuff?" Sam asked Mario. Mario gave a smile.
"Like a this." Mario replied. With all of his might he kicked open both doors. They swung and hit the wall. The sight inside was astonishing. The Peach clone was standing on the platform still set up from the presentations and in front of her was a massive army of toads. Seven lines of what seemed like fifty in each line. They stood on the other side of the gym leaving a lot of room in the middle of the gym. The light from the hallway barely lit up the room as the gym lights were on dim. All of the toads including the Peach clone turned and looked at the doors. Mario twirled his giant wooden hammer and then firmly grasped it. The toads hissed but stood still.
"Intruders." said the clone in a deep scary sounding voice.
"What have you done with Peach?!" exclaimed Sam. The clone descended from the platform and approached the group. Her steps echoed through the gym. She stopped fifteen feet away from our heroes.
"I am in every way shape and form better than that idiot." The clone said, "She failed to realize that Toads are not meant to be used for such trivial use. They are the ultimate soldier. With the snap of my fingers they will attack anything I tell them to. And I am going to use them to take over this city and rule with an iron fist."
"Not if we can help it." said Ollie. He grabbed two pikbots from his duffle bag. "You're going down." The clone gave an evil smile and walked back to the platform humming to herself. Once she got back on the platform, she snapped her fingers and the toads went feral and charged at the group. Mario and Luigi tightened their grips on their hammers and charged to. Sam followed behind while Ollie stayed back to play support.
Sam started blasting like crazy. With each shot from her arm cannon, a toad's head blew completely off. Mario and Luigi became surrounded by toads. They swung their hammers knocking the toads away from them. With each toad that was knocked away, they were promptly electrocuted from the pikbots Ollie would throw near them. The clone watched as the carnage was taking place. It became angry. It set its sights on Sam and charged towards her. Sam, who was preoccupied with shooting, didn't see the clone come at her. The clone tackled Sam which caused Sam to accidentally misfire and hit one of the gym lights; promptly destroying it. The debris hit the ground and scattered amongst the floor. The clone began throwing rapid punches at Sam. Sam did her best to defend herself but it was no use. The suit was breaking apart from the attacks. The clone saw the suit breaking and continued to do so. The clone then noticed the pink patch and clawed it causing the nanobots to disappear completely. Sam panicked and managed to kick the clone off of her. She stood up bruised and had a bloody nose.
"You're gonna pay for that." she said, panting and angry.
"You won't stand in my way of world domination. Toads will rule." the clone said with brimming confidence. Sam pressed the patch again but the suit wouldn't form up. "Aw, nothing without your suit?" the clone gloated.
"Shut up...not Peach." Sam retorted.
"I prefer the name, Peachette." she said with a cute evil grin. Peachette began to slowly approach Sam; Sam began backing up. Ollie saw Sam and was about to help her, but he became surrounded by toads.
"Shit shit shit!" he panicked to himself. He had to think fast so he could help Sam. He then got an idea. He reached in his duffle bag and pulled out a pikbot. He put it on the ground next to him and then threw the rest of pikbots at the toads. "Discharge!" he yelled and with that, mass amounts of electricity surged and electrocuted the toads causing their heads to blow. Their bodies fell lifeless and a little gunk got onto Ollie's suit. "Gross." He quickly rushed over to Mario and Luigi who were finishing up the rest of the toads.
"Quick! Give me a hammer!" Ollie exclaimed to the brothers. Mario quickly gave him his. Ollie attached the pikbot to the a side on the hammer and then charged towards Peachette. Sam was backed up against a wall. Fear surged through her body. "Sorry Mom." She thought to herself, "I'm not making it home today." Peachette got close to Sam and was about to attack.
"Leave my friend alone!" Ollie yelled. He got close to Peachette, jumped in the air and swung the hammer down. "Discharge!" The hammer with the pikbot destroyed Peachette's crown followed by electricity that surged throughout her body. Peachette screamed in agony as she was electrocuted. Ollie fell to the ground landing on his butt and scooted away quickly. Peachette continued screaming until her head blew up scattering gunk. Her now headless body kept standing for a bit and then soon fell over. The brothers rushed over to Ollie and Sam and helped them up.
"Nice going kid." said Mario.
"Are you alright?" Luigi asked Sam.
"Yeah, I'll be alright." Sam replied.
"Not bad for our first bad guy." Ollie said with a bit of confidence. Mario gave him a thumbs up.
"Hey Mario, we were supposed to be looking for two students," said Luigi. Sam glanced at Ollie and motioned her eyes to the brothers. Ollie shrugged not really knowing what she was implying.
"Actually, we are those two students," said Sam. Ollie put his face in his hands.
"Oh. Oh!" Mario exclaimed, "Don't worry kids. Your secret is safe with us." he said with a wink.
"If you need any back up, just give us the call. I can even show you some of my inventions." said Luigi.
"You're an inventor?" asked Ollie.
"I'm a lot of things kid." said Luigi with a wink. Ollie titled his head in confusion.
"Alright kids, let's get out of here." said Mario. The group began to walk towards the main entrance of the school. Sam was playing with the pink patch trying to turn her suit back on. With luck it managed to turn on again. When they got to the doors, Mario instructed the two to wait for him to call them out. The two brothers walked out of the school to photographers and news outlets outside ready to report on the story. The students cheered and clapped for the two brothers. Mario and Luigi waved their right hands as a way to say, all in a day's work.
"Now hold on everyone." Mario said, "Me and my brother Luigi here didn't do this job on our own. We had the help of New Donk City's two newest superheroes! Come on out here will ya?!" Sam and Ollie quietly came out of the school in a timid manner. The crowd in front of them were shocked. Suddenly, the group was swarmed by the photographers and reporters and were bombarded with camera flashes and questions like "who are you?" "What are your names?" "What are your goals?" Ollie and Sam were overwhelmed by it all and Luigi took notice.
"Leave the heroes be people. They're new to the whole gig." Luigi stated. He winked at Sam and Ollie. "That's enough from us." The group walked away from the main entrance. Mario and Luigi got back in their gokart and drove off while Sam and Ollie went and hid in a nearby alleyway.
"You okay?" Ollie asked Sam.
"Let's see, I'm out of breath, sweaty and beaten up. You?"
"About the same."
"And you know what the worst part is? My clothes are still in the robotics lab." Sam said smiling. Ollie's face was once again back in his palms.
"So are mine." Ollie sighed. Sam laughed. She gave Ollie a great big hug.
"We just defeated our first bad guy!" she exclaimed, "We're super heroes!"
"We're super heroes." Ollie groaned. Sam let go of Ollie.
"Gee, don't hold back your excitement." Sam sarcastically said.
"We were a little unprepared for this. I know it was short notice but if we're gonna keep doing this, we gotta get better." explained Ollie.
"I one hundred percent agree." said Sam, "I could do with some fighting lessons."
"And I need to work on some more pikbots." Ollie added.
"I can help you with that."
"I would greatly appreciate that." Sam smiled.
"Alright, I say we sneak back in and get our clothes and then head to the lab." Sam suggested.
"Sounds like a plan to me," said Ollie.
MAYOR PAULINES OFFICE
"This is Quillson Smith reporting for channel three news. Back to you Dotty." The small tv was then turned off. A small blonde girl bursted through the mahogany door.
"I saw it Isabelle. I saw all of it." said Pauline. Dressed in her signature red outfit with her black top, she began running her hands through her hair in frustration.
"What are we gonna do mayor?" asked Isabelle.
"I want these heroes in my office asap. Find them and bring them to me."
"Yes ma'am. Right away ma'am." said Isabelle. She quietly left the spacious office. Pauline put her head on her desk.
