After that bombshell Peach had dropped, the whole family sat down to talk about it. They sat in the kitchen; the kitchen had a very nice dark gray granite island. Three bar stools lined up in a row sat on one side of the island and the other side was the stove in the middle, the fridge to the right and countertops with cabinets on the wall and the bottom.
"Are you sure that you wanna transfer to City High?" Mr. Stool asked, "We worked so hard to get you into NDCS."
"Dad, this recent toad experiment could've led to people dying. That clone of me was hell bent on taking over the city." explained Peach, "I can't keep putting lives in danger."
"She'll be fine at City High. I'll be watching over her the whole time." Daisy added in.
"But you're a grade above Peach." said Mr. Stool, "I just feel like you can try something new with your science. I don't want you to waste your smarts." Peach grabbed her father's hand.
"I need to not do science for a while. For my sake and everyone else's." she said looking deep into his eyes. Mr. Stool could tell that Peach was serious about this decision. And it would be in his best interest to agree with his daughter. He grabbed Peach's hands and held them gently.
"Okay. I'll get you into City High." he said, "Do you want to transfer now or wait till the next semester?"
"I would like to go now if possible," said Peach. Mr. Stool nodded. He got up from the barstool and headed into the living room where his main computer was. Peach sighed. She had been at NDCS since she was a freshman. She made a lot of memories there. Leaving all of that behind was taking a small toll on her. She wiped her eyes a bit, got up and went to her room which was upstairs and to the right. Her room was comfortably small size. Her room was pastel pink, and had a full size mattress just on the floor covered in her pink bed sheets. A white light provided the vibe of the room. Peach went and laid on her bed face down. She then looked for her phone which she found underneath her pillow. She had a message from Brittany. She smiled slightly.
Hey! Checking up on you! You okay?
For the most part :/
So that was a clone of you?
yeah
That's crazy! When did you start messing with clones?
It was a toad that mutated into a version of me. Long story
Wanna talk about it?
Not really no :(
What's wrong?
Can we meet in person?
Sure! Pier?
Yes please!
Peach threw on some magenta sweat pants and put on her dirty white vans. Lastly she threw a light blue sweater crop top with a little banana in the middle. She did her hair up in a bun and then left her room to head for her car.
AT THE PIER
Brittany was in the middle of the pier sitting on a bench close to the arcade, ferris wheel and Bullet Bill rollercoaster. She swung her legs waiting for Peach to arrive. Soon she saw Peach walking around and called out to her. Peach saw Brittany and came over and sat next to her.
"You've had quite the day." Brittany said.
"You have no idea." Peach rebutted.
"So what's up? Why did you wanna meet?" asked Brittany. Peach sighed.
"Promise you won't overreact when I tell you?" asked Peach.
"I promise." Brittany responded.
"Okay. Well, I've sort of made the executive decision to leave NDCS." Peach explained. Brittany's mouth dropped.
"What the hell?!" she exclaimed, "Why are you leaving?"
"Because, the whole toad project has caused so much damage. I've delayed scholarship opportunities for other students and endangered them. And this recent failure is something I just can't ignore anymore. I can't keep putting people in danger." Peach explained. Her head hung low. Brittany didn't know what to think. She looked behind her to see that the sun was setting. All of the night lights soon came on in succession. Brittany looked back at Peach and gave her a side hug. Peach leaned on Brittany's shoulder.
"I understand." Brittany said, "But like, couldn't you just try and pursue something else at the school?"
"There's nothing else that I could do. I love plants too much." said Peach. She wiped her eyes again.
"This is true. There wouldn't be a botany club without you." said Brittany.
"Oh please, that was both of us thing." Peach said with a smile. Brittany playfully punched her arm.
"So what you're going to City High?" asked Brittany.
"Yeah. I'm gonna de-stress with some normal people classes." explained Peach. Brittany then got an idea.
"We need a going away party!" Brittany excitedly said. Peach blushed.
"Oh I don't know." she replied.
"Oh come on. One last romp before you transfer." Brittany explained. Peach gave it some thought.
"Okay, but something small." Peach said. Brittany was giddy. She quickly pulled out her phone and texted Charlie, Suzie and Ollie.
Hey! Peach is gonna transfer to City High so we're gonna have a quick party at the party! So get your ass over here!
"Okay, I just texted Ollie, Suzie and Charlie. They'll be over soon." said Brittany. Peach smiled and gave Brittany a big hug.
"Hey, even though I'm going to City High, we're still gonna be best friends." Peach reaffirmed.
"Uh duh! You're not just gonna get rid of me that easily." said Brittany. The two of them got off of the bench and headed into the arcade to play some arcade games.
7:25 PM
Charlie was driving Ollie, Sam and Suzie in his white pick up truck towards the pier. Charlie had his window rolled down and his arm out as Not A Punk by Gizmo was blaring through the car speakers. Ollie was in the front passenger seat and Suzie and Sam were in the back.
"Dude what are we listening to?" Ollie questioned.
"It's Gizmo bro. This shit is hard." Charlie explained. He reached for his sunglasses and put them on his face. Ollie looked back at Suzie and Sam. Suzie was enjoying the music; Sam had no opinion on the music. She shrugged at Ollie. Ollie shrugged back and turned back around. Soon enough, Charlie pulled into a parking spot outside the entrance to the pier. Wally had a big line in front of his cart and was working as hard as he could to push out orders. The four got out of the truck and made their way inside the pier. Wally noticed Ollie and Sam and waved at the two. Ollie did the nod and Sam waved back.
"Hey, it's no big deal that I'm hanging out right?" Sam asked Ollie.
"You're good. Peach won't mind." said Ollie.
"Okay. It's just that me and Peach haven't hung out as much. I didn't know if this was a friend group type thing." Sam explained. Ollie chuckled.
"You worry too much." Ollie replied. The four of them walked into the arcade and immediately saw Peach and Brittany at the Dance Dance Revolution machine. The four met them at the machine. Peach and Brittany were hard focused on the map they were playing.
"Hey guys!" Brittany exclaimed, "We'll be done in a minute."
"I haven't played DDR in so long." said Suzie, "I used to be really good at it."
"You can definitely take my turn after this," said Peach. There was a good bit of sweat on her forehead. Finally the level ended. Both girls got an A+. They got down from the platform. Peach went around and hugged Charlie, Suzie and Ollie. She was surprised to see Sam there.
"Oh hey! I've seen you around campus before." said Peach.
"Yeah. I just transferred into the school this year." said Sam.
"Do you know what you're pursuing yet?"
"Not yet. I'm just taking the general classes right now." Sam went on to explain.
"I gotcha. Well if you ever wanna do botany just get with Brittany. She's in charge of the Botany club." said Peach. The two girls shook hands. Suzie got onto the dance board. Ollie got on as well. Charlie, Brittany, Peach and Sam decided to hang back.
"So Peach, you're going to City High?" asked Charlie.
"Yeah. My dad is working to get me in like right now." answered Peach, "But if he can't I'll be there in the upcoming spring."
"To be honest, I'm thinking of going to City High too." Brittany was shocked to hear this.
"What do you mean to be honest?!" Brittany asked, frustratedly.
"I don't know man, I'm not feeling it anymore," said Charlie.
"I thought you liked engineering?" asked Peach.
"I think it's interesting, but I can't see myself doing it for the rest of my life." explained Charlie.
"We will have this discussion later." Brittany scolded. Ollie and Suzie finished up their DDR game. Suzie beat Ollie out of the water.
"I thought you said you used to be good at this." Ollie said, panting. Suzie hadn't even broken a sweat.
"I guess I retained everything." Suzie said with a smile. Ollie was too tired to roll his eyes. The two got off the dance board and rejoined the group.
"What do you guys wanna do now?" asked Peach.
"We can do the Bullet Bill, and then eat some Wally's afterwards?" Suzie suggested. Everyone seemed to agree on the idea. They walked out of the arcade and headed for the Bullet Bill. Charlie, Peach and Brittany were in the front, Ollie was in the middle and Suzie and Sam were in the back of the group.
"Hey, I wanted to ask about the suit." Suzie whispered to Sam.
"The suit is awesome," Sam whispered back, "But it's not very protective."
"Oh. Yeah nanobots are not the best when it comes to protection. But what about the arm cannon? Did it function properly?"
"Arm cannon worked perfectly. I didn't get to use all the beams but they worked great against the toads."
"Yay!" Suzie excitedly whispered, "I'm glad I was able to help with the super hero efforts." Sam smiled. She and Suzie fist bumped. The group made it to the line for the Bullet Bill.
The Bullet Bill was New Donk City's famous roller coaster. The ride was created by Bill Bullet. In the early twenties, Bill Bullet was an engineer who grew tired of working in a factory. He strove for something bigger in life and one day he finally decided to do something. With the money he saved up, he went to the mayor and proposed building a pier that had a roller coaster, ferris wheel and a penny arcade. Originally the mayor was hesitant but he came around at the money opportunity. Over the course of ten years, Bullet worked on his creation and by 1933, The Pier was opened to the public. Since then, it's been a main staple of New Donk City
"I've never been on the Bullet Bill." said Sam as they stood in line.
"You like crazy fast rides?" Charlie asked.
"Sometimes." Sam responded.
"This bitch goes crazy fast. It should be illegal how fast it goes." Charlie explained.
"Indeed." Ollie commented. The line was moving up. "Peach, when's the last time you been on the ride?"
"I don't even know." Peach responded. Soon the group got up to the front of the line. The ride itself was all black and the front car was in the shape of a bullet with two cartoonish eyes and two white arms with its hands in fists. Peach and Brittany got in the second car, Charlie and Suzie got in the fifth car and Ollie and Sam got in the sixth car. The cars were red on the inside and were big enough for only two people. Also in each car was a seatbelt as well as a bar for extra protection.
"A bar and a seatbelt?" questioned Sam.
"Trust me, you'll need both." Ollie reassured. The group fastened their seatbelts and pulled the bar down. A worker came to make sure everyone was fastened in. They went to the console and cars began to move slowly. The Bullet Bill was a fairly large roller coaster with three big loops and a section of the coaster that flipped the cars upside down and right side up.
"How fast does this thing go?" Sam asked.
"Like 150 miles per hour." Charlie said.
Within minutes, the ride was over. The group exited the ride and were stumbling a bit trying to walk.
"There's no way that...that was 150 miles." said Sam who was very dizzy.
"That was awesome," said Charlie. He couldn't stand up straight.
"I'm really glad we said tacos after and not before." Brittany commented. Everyone seemed to agree.
"I'll give the Bullet Bill this, it always manages to make me hungry afterwards." said Suzie.
"I agree." Ollie said, "Let's eat." The group made their way to Wally's Taco Stand. By this time it was 8:00 and the line had died down so they were able to get tacos quickly.
"Tacos for everyone!" Wally exclaimed.
"Thanks again Wally." said Peach.
"Anything for you gifted kids." said Wally with his signature grin.
"God these tacos are so good!" cheered Suzie, "What's your secret?"
"Aye kid, a good chef never reveals his secrets." Wally said while winking.
"Thanks for coming guys," said Peach, "I really appreciate you guys."
"Of course girlie!" said Suzie happily, "We're always gonna be here for you no matter what you do in life." The group slowly finished up their food, until Charlie saw something.
"What the hell is that?" he questioned, pointing up. Everyone looked to see what he was pointing to. It was another one of those floating green blob things with three red things in its center and two tusks at the bottom. Ollie and Sam glanced at each other in a panic. Neither of them had their super hero gear. Suddenly, Wally pulled out his shotgun and shot the thing out of the sky. It fell and splatted next to the group. Ollie looked at Wally with confusion.
"What? It's a dangerous area over here." Wally explained.
"No it's not!" exclaimed Ollie. The group then gathered around the now dead creature.
"What is this thing?" Peach asked.
"I don't know," said Brittany, "But I've been seeing these things pretty frequently. This caught Sam and Ollie's attention.
"Define frequently," said Sam.
"I see one twice a week." explained Brittany.
"Around my neighborhood, they've been attacking squirrels." Charlie added in.
"What do we do?" Ollie whispered, "These things are starting to show up more frequently."
"I don't know." Sam whispered back, "Should we ditch?"
"We can't skip out on Peach. Also we didn't drive here." Ollie whispered.
"Okay, well I think we should call it here and get home safely," said Peach. Ollie and Sam sighed.
"Yeah you kids get out of here. I'll deal with whatever the hell this is." said Wally. The group split off to their respective cars. Wally did a double take to make sure no one was looking. His hands began to glow a light purple. With ease he lifted the green blob and tossed off of the pier.
Charlie pulled into Sam's driveway.
"I'm gonna get out with Sam." Ollie said to Charlie. Charlie gave a thumbs up.
"By the way, the arm cannon has a grapple feature," Suzie whispered to Sam, "I forgot to mention it in the message. Just say grapple and it'll activate" Sam gave a thumbs up and her and Ollie got out of the car. Suzie got out of the back and got in the front passenger seat.
"What's the plan?" Ollie asked.
"We're going alien hunting." Sam said confidently.
