Chapter I
Monarch Base of Operations, Monster Island
"How are the eggs doing, Miki?" Mark asked, setting down a platter of rice and fish for her.
"They're growing at the expected rate," the psychic replied. "Their brains have developed already, and the rest is coming along smoothly."
"That's good." Mark checked the readings on his monitor. "The acoustics are good. Heart's beating, and muscles are flexing."
"Excellent." Miki ate her rice with chopsticks, as she was used to eating the Japanese way. "Godzilla and Mothra are are waiting patiently for their hatching, although Godzilla is quickly losing patience."
"I was the same way when Emma was pregnant with Andrew," Mark said. "I had to mark off days on the calendar to keep myself sane."
"I did the same thing," Ilene Chen said as she walked in. "Little Daisuke was impatient. He was kicking all the time. Could have sworn he would have crawled out, given half the chance."
"Madison did that too. Emma and I joked about how she might end up doing a Cesarean for her."
Chen, Miki, and Mark smiled. It was good to reminisce about the good times with other people.
"Wonder how our 'legal team' is doing," Mark said before drinking his coffee.
"No idea, but I do know this," Chen said. "I wouldn't want to be in their shoes."
United Nations Court, Geneva, Switzerland
"We admire your work with the M.U.T.O.s, doctors," the chairwoman said, "but the accusations of harboring fugitives still stand. And, you still face the threat of the military."
"As much as we'd like to satisfy your suicidal desires," Jon said, "I'm afraid we will not be accepting military jurisprudence."
"Don't force our hands, Dr. Hudson."
"My hands are empty. It's yours that are dirty."
The delegates murmured among themselves, clearly upset with the accusation.
"On a less accusatory note, we are working on ways to coexist peacefully with the Titans," Sam said. "One of our doctors worked on a new piece of technology that has been proven to be effective in calming them."
"Most intriguing. May we have a demonstration?"
"I'm afraid that is a risk in and of itself," Sam said regretfully. "The Orca, as we call it, is so effective that it might draw a Titan here."
"Understandable. You have proof that it works?"
"Unfortunately, the only proof we have is what the Red Bamboo did. They found a way to replicate the Orca, and used it to try and ruin our work."
"They have the information necessary to make copies?"
"They have the doctor who made it. We are working on bringing the person responsible into custody."
"If I may speak, before I forget," an older delegate called out, standing up slowly and adjusting his tinted glasses. "Me and my associates are avid supporters of Monarch. We would like to extend our assistance in catching this son of a bitch."
Serizawa nodded thankfully to the delegate.
"Thank you, Mr. Lee," the chairwoman said. "Well, seems like you're gaining the favor amongst us, doctors. So, with this 'Orca' device, you plan on making Godzilla our pet?"
"No," Serizawa replied, "we would be his."
Monster Island
Godzilla sat next to the eggs, waiting for them to hatch. Mothra had reminded him constantly that they would take their time to grow, but he had nothing else to do.
Mothra, the egg's mother, just sat on his head. She had nothing to do, as Abaddon had her nymphs gather leaves and fruit for the larvae when they hatch. All she had to do was sit around and wait for them to come out.
Godzilla felt an odd presence. It was a feeling he hadn't felt since the battle near the South Pole. Wait a minute...
The South Pole?!
Mothra sensed his growing anger and flapped her wings to get off before he blew his top. Godzilla stood up and lumbered toward the ocean. Anguirus, who was foraging nearby, roared to ask if he should join. Godzilla uttered a low growl, telling his friend that he should handle this first fight. It was cold there, so he still had a chance against the growing threat.
Godzilla stepped into the sea and started on his course to Antarctica, where he would fight the Devil with Three Heads.
