Chapter V
Outpost 41, Quebec, Canada
The loudspeakers of the containment facility broadcasted the droning sound of the Orca. Beneath the seal, a creature roared and growled as it clawed at the metal that separated it from the surface world.
Finally, it gave up, as it found another way to get out. The Titan dove deeper into the cave it resided in, and found an exit on the side of the mountain.
Free at last, it was time for Okeneba to show the world just who the alpha was.
Him.
"This is Ground Team," Steve said into the radio mic. "No sign of Okeneba yet. Over."
"Same here, Steve," Falcon replied. "Remember the plan? Over."
"Lead the Titan away from the populated zones so one of the other Titans can take over. Over."
"Roger that. Over and out."
Natasha drove the jeep on the asphalt road that rimmed the outside of the forest surrounding Outpost 41. The containment breach had just happened, so Okeneba was likely still in the area.
Behind her, several more Monarch jeeps followed behind. They were to provide a bigger target for the Titan to make it easier for him to follow them.
"Ground Team!" Falcon yelled over the radio. "You've got company! Coming in from the north and moving fast! Very fast!"
Not two seconds after Falcon cut out, and the forest edge broke away to reveal a 200 foot tall wolf. It's fur was short and barely covered a vast array of scars. It ran on long legs that were armed with sharp claws.
"Contact, rear!" Steve yelled.
The soldiers turned around and opened fire on Okeneba. The wolf Titan growled and chased after the convoy. With his jaws, he crushed the jeep in the rear like it was a soda can. After throwing it to the side, Okeneba continued to decimate the convoy.
"This isn't a convoy," Steve said, "it's a buffet line! Sam, can you give us an opening?"
"Roger that!"
Before the Titan could attack another jeep, gunshots ran out and bullets attempted to pierce his skin. Okeneba looked up and saw Falcon fly in and shoot futily at his face. Annoyed at the insect's insolence, Okeneba focused his attention on Falcon and leaped after him. Falcon dodged, but just enough to avoid being swallowed whole.
"Damn!" he yelled. "Those are some big-ass teeth!"
Landing in the forest, Okeneba used the trees as cover and ran through the trees like a ghost in the wind. Falcon could barely keep up with him.
"I've lost him," he said into his radio. "I think he's given-"
He was cut off as Okeneba leaped out of the forest and closed his mouth around the former Avenger.
"Sam!" Steve yelled.
It was no use. Sam Wilson, or Falcon, had been devoured by the giant wolf, Okeneba.
"Steve, sit down!" Natasha shouted. "It's not over yet!"
Command Bridge of the Argo, Quebec, Canada
Everyone was silent as the news ran out. They had lost Falcon to the bloodthirsty Titan Okeneba.
"May he rest in piece," Mark said solemnly.
"Not until we fix this problem," Colonel Foster stated.
An alarm drew Coleman's attention to his monitor, where he saw something odd.
"Hey guys?" he said. "Remember the storm we lost Monster Zero in? Well, it just changed course, and guess where it's headed."
The storm-tracking display was transferred to the main viewer. The storm was now on it's way to Canada.
"That's... not possible," Stanton said. "No storm moves that fast."
"Unless it's not a storm," Chen proposed.
Just as she said that, the tracker revealed that Monster Zero was inside the storm, directly in the middle.
"My God," Barnes said.
"Doctor, it's like how it was with Rodan and Hokmuto," Mark explained. "Monster Zero is coming to confront big bad Ralph over here."
Serizawa understood what he was saying.
"Colonel, contact Ground Team."
"Ground Team, this is Colonel Foster. Do you read me?"
"We read you, Colonel!" Steve shouted over Okeneba's growling and the soldiers' shouting.
"You need to lead Okeneba to the coast. Monster Zero is on it's way, and if we're right, it can beat Okeneba."
Steve shared a look with Natasha, before giving his response.
"Roger that, Colonel."
Nat gassed the jeep and led the remains of the convoy onto a dirt road. It was much harder to drive on the dirt road, but they were able to outpace Okeneba.
Okeneba growled angrily and ran faster. He snapped up the jeep in the rear before tossing it aside and going after the next one.
"He's not stopping!" Steve noted.
"He's like the Leader, Cap," Nat said. "He's fighting because he thinks he's a higher life form. He's proving that he's stronger than us."
Okeneba destroyed the last jeep behind them, and set his sights on Steve and Natasha's jeep. Nat saw his gaze and put as much gas into the jeep as she could. Okeneba was barely able to keep up.
"Don't go too fast," Steve advised. "We need him to get to the coast."
"Like I don't know that already, Steve."
As much as he had run already, Okeneba was barely even winded. The entire time, he was able to keep up with a simple lope. Now, he was sprinting, and was catching up quickly.
"Nat, he's coming up quick!"
"I'm putting everything into the jeep!"
Nat steered the jeep onto another road and barely avoided Okeneba's jaws. The wolf quickly recover and followed the jeep into the dark forest.
Steve looked up and saw that the storm was quickly approaching.
"We're almost there, Nat! Just a little longer!"
The rain poured down hard, like tiny pellets. It was less than a minute before the lightning started to connect with the ground. Finally, Okeneba's ears perked up as he heard a most pleasing sound.
A challenge.
He changed course and ran up a nearby mountain. Steve sighed in relief as Nat slowed the jeep and turned it to leave the forest.
"Bastard."
Okeneba stood on the summit of the mountain. He looked into the storm, and saw the creature he had been aching to fight for thousands of years.
Monster Zero's yellow eyes stared at the little wolf that desired to fight it. Okeneba growled and unleashed a dreadful roar that sent shivers up the spines of anyone who heard it.
Except for Monster Zero.
The Three-Headed Terror snarled and hissed as it opened it's wings to their fullest extent, before diving toward the wolf Titan.
The battle commenced.
