Chapter X

Unnamed Island, Atlantic Ocean

The Gotengo resurfaced offshore of an uncharted island. Bakunawa had provided it with extra thrust so it could reach the surface before the nuclear blast reached them.

Mark and Chen walked onto the conning tower to look for any signs of success. Mark looked everywhere, but the proof of the nuke's effectiveness came from an unlikely source.

The mountain in the center of the small island suddenly became a volcano. A bright blue beam of fire cut through the summit and tore the island apart. Boulders fell into the water and trees became logs as the water boiled with the heat of the fire.

Three parallel rows of crystalline spines cut through the water and made way for the new Godzilla. His chest was more pronounced, and his tail was half again longer than his body. His eyes glowed a fierce blue.

Godzilla lifted his head to the sky in a roar, a roar that was heard all over the world.

Congo Basin, Africa

The roar was heard in the rainforests of Central Africa, where Mokele-Mbembe tore through the trees with his trunk, which looked instead like a sauropod's neck. The pachyderm didn't respond to the call, but a Titan nearby did.

Bast raked her claws through Mokele-Mbembe's hide and ran away quickly, before running back in for another attack. The larger Titan bellowed in anger and swung his tail towards the smaller cat, but Bast was much faster and dodged the attack easily.

Bast was loyal to Godzilla.

Outpost 74, Temple of Shisa, Okinawa

The roar echoed in the halls of the Lion Temple, where an ancient Titan awoke. Finding himself bound with extraterrestrial chains, Caesar roared in anger before ripping the bonds off with ease. He bounded across the island at unprecedented speeds and dove into the water, desperate to get to his King.

Caesar was loyal to Godzilla.

Outpost 98, offshore of the Galapagos Islands

The roar reverberated through the ocean, where a brother species to the King awoke. The Titan screeched in kind and swam as hard as he could to accompany his brother in arms.

Zilla was loyal to Godzilla.

Ascension Island, Atlantic Ocean

The roar was heard over Ascension, where the Kraken searched for prey. Instead, he found a rival, as Bakunawa pushed the cephalapod-crustacean Titan into a nearby seamount.

Bakunawa was loyal to Godzilla.

Mexico City, Mexico

The roar was heard in Mexico City, where Quetzalcoatl wreaked havoc on the innocent civilians. He was quickly stopped by Mayura, who used his talons to pin the larger serpent to the ground. The Feathered Serpent tried to fight the peacock off with his wing claws, but a quill attack from Garuda made him screech in pain.

Mayura and Garuda were loyal to Godzilla.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

The roar echoed across the rainforests of Brazil, where Behemoth destroyed buildings with little abandon. He was quickly stopped by a jet of boiling water, forcing him to turn his head toward his old nemesis.

Leviathan was loyal to Godzilla.

Tokyo, Japan

The roar was heard in Tokyo, where Lazarus, another brother species to Godzilla, attacked the military with no regard for his brother's wishes. He was swiftly stopped by a single thread of silk that kept him from moving forward. The silk left him open to attack by several Kamacuras.

Abaddon was loyal to Godzilla.

Mt. Fuji, Japan

The roar was heard in the caldera of Mount Fuji, where Yamata no Orochi struggled to move through the rocks and snow that had built up over it. To make matters worse, it was attacked by a tiny fox Titan that moved far too fast for Orochi to keep up.

Kitsune was loyal to Godzilla.

Rome, Italy

The roar echoed through the Vatican, where Thanatos spat his deadly acid at the humans beneath him. His foreleg was suddenly assaulted with a wave of pain as Fenrir crushed his forearm.

Fenrir was loyal to Godzilla.

Unnamed Island, Atlantic Ocean

Godzilla rumbled as he lowered his head. He turned to face the Gotengo.

The humans on board jumped back in fear. They were right in doing so, as Godzilla was no longer as forgiving as he used to be.

He glared at the humans. They almost killed him with their green glow, and they destroyed his home with one of their weapons.

But they did it to help him.

He turned away and gave them another chance. He dove into the ocean and swam away to confront his enemy for the final time.
