Sorry for the absence. I was sick with the flu, and I needed to rest.
Thankfully, I've recovered enough to come back! So enjoy, and please R&R!
Chapter III
Outpost 54, 25 miles offshore of Bermuda
"At 9:00 P.M., Eastern Standard Time," Colonel Diane Foster began, "Monarch Outpost 61 was attacked by a terrorist group known as the Red Bamboo. Thirteen people lost their lives, including Dr. Kina Serizawa, the daughter-in-law of our own Dr. Serizawa."
Mark Russell gave Serizawa a kind, understanding look as he placed his hand on the doctor's shoulder.
"According to the infrared surveillance," the Colonel continued, "three people survived: Emma Russell, Madison Russell, and Kenneth Serizawa."
"What about the Titans in the Outpost?" Dr. Rick Stanton asked. "Where did they go?"
"Mothra and Battra escorted Madison and Kenneth out of the area. Their mother, whom we've dubbed Mothra Prime, distracted the Red Bamboo, with the aid of an unidentified energy source."
"What was the radiation signature of the energy source?" asked Nicholas Fury.
"Low-level gamma rays," Foster replied.
"I have an idea about who it is, but I'll save that for later. Who's the kingpin of the entire thing?"
"Alan Jonah. Former colonel for the British SAS and retired agent from MI-6. After San Francisco, he took to dealing in Titan DNA and Monarch machinery. Eventually, his group turned to terrorism, even going so far as to enslave the natives of an island in the Pacific."
"Were the people OK?" asked First Lieutenant Lauren Griffin.
"Mothra Prime made short work of their operation. She's been following their work more closely than we ever could."
"Any intel on Godzilla?" Warrant Officer Jackson Barnes asked.
"He's still patrolling his usual routes, but he's become more agitated. His heartrate and breathing is up."
"Can we count on him for help?" Steve Rogers asked.
"No," Dr. Stanton answered. "We can't rely on him for anything, except for being unreliable."
"Shut up, Rick," Dr. Ilene Chen sighed.
"What about Mayura?" Steve asked.
"Lost him in the Himalayas," Graham said.
"Bakunawa?"
"Napping in Hong Kong," Stanton answered.
"Leviathan?"
"Went back to Loch Ness," Jon said.
"What do we do?" Mark asked.
"We don't have anything right now, except keep tabs on the larvae," Foster said. "Madison and Kenneth have the Orca, so the Red Bamboo have to be after them."
Unknown Location
"You have no idea how upset I am with this predicament," the older man said.
"I had no idea that she would do this," Emma Russell said. "I thought she would go with me."
"Did the boy say anything that would change her mind?" he asked.
"I don't think so. He was quiet, until Madison activated the Orca."
"Well, now we're back to square one, unless you can recreate the wretched thing from memory."
This last sentence brought an idea to Emma's mind.
"Maybe I can," she said.
"What are you talking about?" the man asked.
"The Orca is essentially a microphone, a speaker, and some audio machinery. We already make the parts for commercial use, we just need to adjust them to be compatible with Titan bio-acoustics."
"I hope you're right, Dr. Russell," the man said, sharing a look with her. His eyes were tired and full of experience, telling Emma that he had seen far too much for the human mind to comprehend.
"Ash," the man called out.
"Yes, sir?" a younger man answered.
"Send out some men to get the following material: Microphones, speakers, and any other audio equipment you can think of."
"Yes, Mr. Garrett."
