Chapter XIV

Sierra Madre, Mexico

Rodan clawed at Godzilla mercilessly, causing the King much pain. Anguirus jumped up and tore the Fire Demon off of his King. He threw the giant avian down the mountainside, then crashed his tail club at a rocky outcrop, sending a landslide down after Rodan.

The battle wasn't over yet.

A loud trilling was heard, drawing Godzilla's attention to the clouds. A dark form descended upon him with outstretched legs. Godzilla quickly spun around and slammed his tail into the male M.U.T.O.'s midsection. The insectoid went flying into a nearby mountainside. As it recovered, it trilled loudly, spreading it's wings in a threat display.

Godzilla simply solidified his stance and returned the roar. Anguirus didn't join him, but did unleash a scream, warning the giant reptile of the danger by his side.

Godzilla slashed his right claws against the face of the M.U.T.O. nymph. The female screamed as she clutched her face with her smaller arms. Godzilla took note of her growing sac of eggs. Angered by his knowledge of what will happen, he pressed further, shoving the expecting mother straight through a mountain.

The male flapped his wings hard, attempting to defend his mate and sibling, but he was shoved aside by Anguirus. The Earth Dragon reared up onto his hind legs, then lunged forward, slamming his front legs into the M.U.T.O.'s chest. The M.U.T.O. screamed and slammed his glowing red leg into Anguirus' face. The Dragon cried out in pain, but spun quickly, smacking his club against his opponent's face.

Godzilla repeatedly swiped his open claws at the M.U.T.O. nymph, doing more to cause her pain than actually kill her. Her species killed his father, and he aimed to return the favor.

The female caught wind of his pattern and stepped back to dodge a swipe. Godzilla, having put much of his strength into his attack, was thrown off-balance. The M.U.T.O. used this opportunity to stab him in the back with a similar spike to what her mother used. The venom burned in Godzilla's blood, causing him to roar again in pain.

Rodan, having freed himself from the landslide, made a dive to assist the nymph. He failed to notice the glowing blue clouds to his right.

Rodan screamed as he was grabbed by the superior mass of Mayura. The peacock deity, his feathers having returned to their original color palette, squawked loudly as he slammed his enemy into the face of a mountain. Rodan snapped at the giant peacock, and Mayura's feathers flashed brightly in return, disorienting the Demon. Mayura used this opportunity to grab Rodan and tear into his chest with his hooked beak.

The winged M.U.T.O., having been ignored by Anguirus in favor of the nymph, tried to assist Rodan, but was intercepted by a creature with silvery grey feathers.

Garuda dragged the M.U.T.O. through the rocky granite of the mountains, screeching angrily. The male snapped at her in a vain attempt to get her off, but Garuda simply responded with a flick of her tail feathers, sending sharp metallic quills into his abdomen.

Anguirus was struggling to keep the M.U.T.O. nymph away from Godzilla. She was eager to cause the King pain, but she had to get through the Dragon first.

A loud rumbling trembled the ground as the M.U.T.O. matriarch revealed herself. Prime prepared to attack Godzilla, but she was stopped by a sharp pain in her ankle. She looked back to see Bakunawa gnawing on her leg while pulling her away from Godzilla.

She turned and tried to attack the smaller Titan, but Bakunawa was faster, despite his aquatic lifestyle. He jumped backward before launching himself onto M.U.T.O. Prime's back, coiling himself around her midsection. She attempted to scream, but she was unable to breathe. She clawed panickingly at Bakunawa's hide, but he held true and tightened his grip.

Finally, a loud droning sound was heard from all directions. The battles were interrupted as the monsters cried in agony at the loud grating against their ears. They all went different directions: Mayura and Garuda went North, Bakunawa went East, and the M.U.T.O.s went deeper into the mountains.

Anguirus remained with Godzilla, watching as his King laid in agony as the venom tried to take over his mind. Rodan lay only half a kilometer away, the venom in his system being drained as his wounds bled and melted away at the granite beneath him.

Godzilla couldn't move. His body was paralyzed. He could barely breathe. It was like he was meeting his end.

But then he saw it.

The light.

A soft moaning was heard. The light seemed to take the form of butterfly wings. He knew exactly who it was.

Mothra cried as she descended to the same level as her King. She covered his body with her now blue wings, letting her radiation eke out onto him. Godzilla felt his strength returning, but it would be a while before he was fully recovered.

"Someone please tell me why all the Titans suddenly scattered!" Foster said anxiously.

"It's Emma," Mark said. "It has to be."

"I think you're right, dude," Stanton replied. "There are Orca signals coming from Chicago, Nigeria, even Arizona. I think the Red Bamboo is trying to mess with us."

"They are," Romanoff said. "One of HYDRA's best agents, John Garrett, was supposedly killed in action, but his body was never recovered. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if he's with the Red Bamboo."

"Then they're trying to get us destroyed," Rogers added. "They want us to go after the Titans and try to stop them."

"So you're just gonna stay here and do nothing?" Serizawa asked.

"Not necessarily," Wilson answered. "We'll be helping you. The 'official' Avengers will deal with the Titans."

Madison walked up to Ken's open door. She wanted to talk with him, since he needed some comfort with everything that was going on.

She stepped in nervously. She didn't want to interrupt something.

"You can come in," a tired voice rang out.

Madison walked in. She looked for Ken, who was sitting at his computer, seemingly doing research on the Red Bamboo.

"Hey," she greeted. "How are you doing?"

"I'll live," he replied. "What is it?"

"I wanted to check up on you. Rick told me about what happened on the Bridge."

Ken's head dropped in shame, remembering what he said to Emma.

"I'm sorry if what I said was hurtful to you," he apologized.

"It's OK. You weren't wrong."

"I know, but it's not the accuracy that's the issue. It's the principle."

"Ken, it's fine. I feel the same way, and I think my dad is debating on a divorce."

"Well, whatever happens, just know that I'll be there for you and your family."

"Likewise."

Madison sat next to him in another chair. She had to admit, she needed comfort about as much as Ken probably did.

"Andrew wanted me to give this to you," she said, holding out a wooden carving. "He knows you like dogs."

Ken picked up the small carving. It was like a wolf, but it had the feel of something like a Titan. He smiled lightly.

"Tell him I said thanks."

Madison nodded as she hugged his arm. He took notice and leaned against her.

"You alright?" he asked.

"It's just... everything that's been happening. My mom's a terrorist, and your mom... I'm so sorry."

Ken sensed that she was about to break down. He placed his hand on hers and squeezed.

"Hey. It's OK. Remember what I said? I'll be there for you."

Madison tightened her grip as she broke down. Ken let her cry into his arm, while he looked at the screen of his laptop.

One of the cities that the Red Bamboo recently terrorized was the Japanese port city of Hokkaido. Ken couldn't help but think of 'Hokmuto,' a name for the male M.U.T.O.
