Chapter XV
Chicago, Illinois
Mayura screamed as he perched atop the Willis Tower and searched for the source of the loud droning. It grated against his ears, and he wanted nothing more than to destroy it.
His long neck snaked around like a serpent in his attempts to pinpoint the source of the sound. It almost seemed to be everywhere at once.
He felt the familiar sting of bullets as they attempted to puncture his skin. He turned his head to see a plane fly out of the clouds. It was made in the flying wing style, and was decorated with an A on either side of it's nose.
A humanoid figure jumped out of the plane and flew directly for the peacock. Mayura growled in disinterest as he continued looking around. The humanoid wouldn't leave him alone, however.
A repulsor blast drew his attention back to the metal humanoid. Growing impatient, Mayura unleashed a blood-curdling scream at the humanoid. It dodged the sonic blast with ease, but in the process, left the Trump International Hotel and Tower unprotected. The windows shattered from the extreme pitch of the scream.
The plane turned around to try and launch another attack, but another screech was heard as Garuda dove after it. The plane dodged easily, but Garuda wasn't easily dissuaded. The loud droning and the continued nuisance drove her mad with rage, and it was clear as she chased the plane between the buildings of Chicago.
Mayura realized that, after Trump Tower's windows were shattered, the droning was much louder. He turned his head to the Tower again, and found that the droning was coming from the Tower. In anger, he screamed again at the Tower, causing the foundation to buckle and collapse under it's own weight.
The droning finally stopped. Garuda perched on top of the Franklin Center and shared a look of relief with her mate. Mayura then led the way back to Mexico.
Phoenix, Arizona
Battra flew over the city of Phoenix. His wings created currents of hot wind that sent people running, as if a giant black moth flying over the city wasn't reason enough to run.
He was looking for the source of the annoying droning sound. He wasn't after it because it grated against his hearing, but his sister wanted him to get rid of it so other Titans wouldn't kill needlessly to get to the sound.
He finally pinpointed the source on the outskirts of the city. A lone truck sat there, it's speakers blaring the sound like a rap song. Battra landed next to it and chittered angrily. A lone blonde woman left the truck hurriedly before Battra grabbed it with his forelimb. Using his mantid arms, he broke the truck with ease, ceasing the sound. His job done, he flew off to help his sister.
Port Harcourt, Nigeria
Bakunawa rose from the water with a glare in his eyes. He aimed to stop the endless droning that persisted in hurting his ears. He bellowed as his whiskers sensed the electricity running through the city. He searched for the greatest concentration of electricity in the city, as such a noise needs lots of energy, right?
He found a building where a lot of the electricity was flowing. He angrily rammed his horned head through the building, making it collapse around him. The sound didn't stop.
Using his hearing, Bakunawa found that the sound was coming from a very small building. Already pissed off, he opened his mouth as a stream of highly-pressurized water shot out at the building. The small construct stood no chance as it crumbled under the pressure of the water. Finally, the droning stopped.
Bakunawa sighed in relief. The torture finally stopped. He left in a hurry, however, as his King needed help.
Command Bridge of the Gotengo, Sierra Madre, Mexico
"The Titans have stopped the sounds," Stanton said. "They are on their way back."
"Can they get back in time to help Godzilla?" Foster asked.
"Battra might," he replied. "I don't know about the others. They're pretty far away."
"Guys?" Mark called out. "Look."
Sierra Madre, Mexico
M.U.T.O. Prime stood by as her daughter laid her eggs in a small pocket where radiation was particularly strong. The male, Hokmuto, flew overhead, keeping an eye out for predators.
The nymph, or Femuto, screamed in pain as she laid her eggs. Like with most creatures, childbirth was painful for the M.U.T.O.s.
Little did she know that her screams would catch the predators' attention.
The boulders on the mountains fell from the tremors of the footsteps. Birds flew away to avoid being caught in the crosshairs of the King. M.U.T.O. Prime looked over to see who was approaching, only to be met with a blast of blue fire in her face.
Godzilla's spines remained a steady pulsating blue as he entered the area. Overhead, Mothra lit up the sky with her glowing blue wings as she flew in for air support. Anguirus dug himself out of the ground in front of Godzilla.
The M.U.T.O.s roared at the approaching predators, warning them to stay away. Godzilla, Mothra, and Anguirus simply returned the roar as their muscles tensed, ready for action.
The battle was now.
