Also, another franchise will be added to the mix after I finish the Godzilla: King of the Monsters story. It's not Pacific Rim or Gamera, but it's a popular franchise that features a familiar face.

Chapter XVII

Sierra Madre, Mexico

Godzilla wrestled with the larger Titan, trying to throw M.U.T.O. Prime's body off the plateau. Prime fought relentlessly to keep from falling to what might end up as her death.

She pushed the King away and bit into his neck. Godzilla screamed and clawed at her thick armor, to no avail. She was too strong for his waning strength.

M.U.T.O. Prime pushed him into the ground. His spines cut through the granite and prevented her from shoving him further.

Before she could make the killing blow, she heard a loud cry.

Femuto was being torn apart by the combined forces of Anguirus, Rodan, and Battra. Anguirus was twisting her head in his jaws, trying to tear it off.

M.U.T.O. Prime roared to let her daughter know that she was coming to help. However, she would be too late.

With a mighty yank, Anguirus ripped Femuto's head clean off.

Prime screamed in agony, then rage. She smacked Anguirus away from her daughter's headless corpse and screamed at Rodan and Battra to leave. They circled around, ready for their attack.

Prime turned her head upon hearing a familiar whirring sound.

Godzilla's spines began to glow. The glow started behind his chest, then went up his neck and down his tail. His eyes finally glowed blue as he sucked in a lungful of air.

Before Godzilla could unleash his ultimate attack, M.U.T.O. Prime unleashed a tremendously loud roar that disoriented Godzilla

and shattered his dorsal spines.

Godzilla cried out in pain as he fell to the ground. His energy was sapped from his body in a single action. He was now defenseless to his father's killer.

Battra landed on top of his defenseless King. His wings glowed red to warn M.U.T.O. Prime to stay away. She only took a step closer.

Battra shrieked angrily before taking off right at her. Prime unleashed another scream that tore apart Battra's body. He was helpless as his body fell apart at the seams.

The energy from Battra's body was released as red mist. It fell onto Godzilla's body like snow.

M.U.T.O. Prime, unobstructed in her goals, approached the vulnerable reptile at her feet. She extended her ovipositioners, but was pushed away by a bright blue light.

Mothra screamed in anger as she slashed at M.U.T.O. Prime's body. The larger Titan roared in frustration and tried to pull Mothra off, but she was flanked by Rodan and Anguirus.

Godzilla could only watch. He faded in and out of consciousness as his spines slowly grew back.

Barnes led his team into the M.U.T.O. nest. The eggs were arranged in magnificent patterns that, if they weren't dangerous, would be captivating.

"Alright, we don't have much time," he said. "Move fast. One bomb per pillar. Get to it."

They did as he ordered, placing one C4 charge on each pillar of rock. Before long, the entire cavern was rigged to explode and crush the eggs.

"Alright, we're good to go," Barnes said. "Now, let's-"

He cut himself off as he realized he didn't have a trigger for the bombs. He calmed himself down and remembered that he tasked Martinez with carrying it.

"Martinez?" he asked. "Do you have the trigger?"

"No, Preach said he was going to do it," the soldier replied.

"Preach?" Barnes looked around the most religious soldier in the group,

and found him standing amidst the eggs.

"Preach?" Barnes repeated. "What are you doing?"

The soldier turned to face his commanding officer. He held a grenade in his hand.

"It's my time, commander," he said. "They destroyed my family. Now, it's time I join them."

Barnes was about to argue, but a high-pitched chirrup flooded the cavern.

Hokmuto was alive, but badly injured. He crawled over the eggs, eager to protect his mate's clutch.

"Go!" Preach yelled. "I'll stop him!"

"Preach!" Griffin yelled, before being dragged outside by Martinez. Preach walked next to a pillar and pulled the pin out of the grenade. He stared the winged M.U.T.O. in the face.

"Sic semper tyrannis, mother-"
