Chapter XVIII

M.U.T.O. Prime heard the explosion. She saw the fire rise from what was once her daughter's nest.

She cried out as she ran to the collapsed cavern, throwing Mothra and Anguirus off of her. Rodan hung back to watch her suffer.

She looked inside the remains of the cavern. The eggs were crushed by the rocks, and those that weren't were killed by the fire. Prime screamed in anguish.

Her lineage was over. All she could do was start over. There was nothing else she could do.

Except avenge their deaths.

She looked around for the humans responsible for their deaths. They had left quickly, but she still tried to find them.

A roar diverted her attention to the cliff above her. Prime saw that Godzilla's allies had returned.

Mayura, the peacock deity, stood at the edge, ready to attack. His mate, Garuda, perched next to him, glaring at M.U.T.O. Prime. On the other side stood Bakunawa, the Moon Dragon.

Prime glared at them and tensed her muscles, ready for an attack.

Godzilla stood up slowly. Mothra was right next to him, internally suffering from her brother's death. Godzilla sensed her anguish and held her close with his tail.

The anger of Battra's death, combined with the aforementioned's energy release, forced his spines to grow faster. Now, they were an oddly amusing combination of his maple-leaf spines and the crag-like spines he had in 1954. They flashed blue.

M.U.T.O. Prime saw the flash and turned around. Her brow rose in surprise when she saw Godzilla's newly-grown spines slowly glow blue. She prepared herself for the Atomic Breath and covered her head with her arms.

However, Godzilla's spines quickly turned red as he opened his mouth, firing a now red Atomic Breath that was far hotter and more forceful.

M.U.T.O. Prime screamed in pain as the fire burned away at her chest. She could feel the flames lick away at her lungs.

Godzilla's breath ceased after a while. In one last attempt, M.U.T.O. Prime charged Godzilla to try and kill him herself. The King saw this coming and grabbed her head. She screamed as he charged up his red Atomic Breath again,

and fired it right down her throat.

Her struggles slowed as her neck came apart. The fire cut away at her neck and severed her nervous system, until her head finally separated from her body.

He had done it. He avenged his father, and Mothra Prime. He had killed the last M.U.T.O.

Godzilla roared in victory, his spines glowing a far brighter red. The other Titans, even Rodan, joined in, with Mayura and Garuda's screeches, Bakunawa's bellow, Rodan's squawk, Anguirus' roar, and Mothra's shriek.

The battle over, Godzilla's spines returned to their original color. He looked at his fellow Titans and prepared to walk away.

He didn't see Hokmuto creep up on him, having survived the collapsing cavern and the explosion that caused it.

However, Leviathan was there to stop him.

The snake leaped onto the winged M.U.T.O. and coiled his body around the much smaller Titan. Leviathan opened his jaw wide and shoved Hokmuto's head into his mouth, swallowing the M.U.T.O. whole.

Godzilla and the other Titans watched in surprise. They had never seen Leviathan eat something like this.

Godzilla was the first to leave. Mothra perched atop his back and chittered. Godzilla nuzzled his snout against her fuzzy head as he walked.

Rodan flew back to Isla de Mara, his experience with the M.U.T.O.s having drained him of his energy.

Anguirus followed Godziila and Mothra to the ocean, always loyal to his King and Queen.

Mayura and Garuda flew back to the Himalayas to finish their breeding.

Bakunawa slithered back to the Gulf of Mexico.

Leviathan followed Bakunawa a short way, then diverged to go back to Loch Ness.

Godzilla looked at the Gotengo, the vessel that held the humans that helped him. He gave a small nod before diving into the Pacific Ocean, with Anguirus swimming directly behind and Mothra flying directly overhead.

Command Bridge of the Gotengo, Sierra Madre, Mexico

"Did he just..." Stanton said, "nod at us?"

"He knows we helped him however we could," Serizawa said. "It's a sign of respect."

"I hope we can rely on him for another Titan attack," Mark said.

"One can only hope, Mark," Jon said. "It's all anyone can do."
